[Steam deck pvp]

Hey all I recently got a steam deck and I got it set up for gw2 as best as it can be, using action camera. I can do all open world and story and farming stuff now but there is one mode that’s been interesting and that’s pvp. 
 

so I was going to switch from my scourge to ele main since I love the piano gameplay on pc but in pvp ele on steam deck is a nightmare. I honestly dont feel like it’s fun or rewarding to play ele pvp on steam deck like on pc. 
 

while not perfect necro has been the most fun so far, prob due to its simplicity. Even better then mech on steam deck since u have to aim the rifle attack and u often hit the wrong thing. 
 

has anyone else done a lot of pvp on steam deck? 
 

what do you find to be an easy class to pvp using the steam deck? 
 

I’m thinking due to the weird action mode and inability to just tab target the best prof would be one that just mashing buttons with a lot of aoe that doesn’t require you to lean heavy into the utility abilities. (Due to the nature of using them on steam deck being a bit more involved).

It’s always advised not to use The AA on greatsword on all builds regardless if ur doing pvp, pve, or wvw u use 2-5 and weapon swap or shroud.

Counter point, we shouldn’t have to rely as heavily in being in shroud as we do. My suggestion is reworking the auto attack on greatsword so it isn’t so slow and more rewarding to use. Tbh all our greatsword abilities should be modified so it doesn’t feel so clunky outside of shroud.

 

i like the great sword weapon and hate how reapers try so hard to always be in shroud. Shroud should be a bonus and big damage state yes but outside of it should t feel so bad as well. 
 

let us feel good using great sword in pve so our state in shroud doesn’t feel so important that half the time ur playing reaper u feel sooo much weaker

Thief is an interesting answer. I thought it had a huge skill cap (not for deadeye or specter tho)

 

I know from fighting good ones that they are very annoying to 1v1 since they always disappear from you.

 

but brain dead is not the word I’d use

I love fire weaver! But since I don’t feel like playing that hard in pve I save it for only pvp games.

 

i guess I’ll stick with mechanist for my story and start leveling and gearing my ranger.

I’m not the best player. But I very much enjoy the tanker duelist builds. 
 

my main currently is engi but with the nerf to scrapper and my “have to like at least two specs  in a profession” scrappers been scrapped lol

 

necros nerf to harbinger is tough, if I get targeted and I don’t have every escape possible I’m dead no question. On top of that the damage isn’t as strong so it doesn’t feel justified to be that squishy. Reaper is solid but I don’t like core or scourge. 
 

I’ve played every profession at least once so I have an idea of how they should play but I’m not sure if my lack of effort into certain specs is a main issue. 
 

I’ve heard a lot about guardians, warriors, rangers, and Mesmers. 
 

guardians and warriors I just can’t survive with idk why but I die like right away and idk why so many warrior builds are duelist cause I find myself dying faster then a ranger or even harbinger. 
 

soulbeast is fun, but I haven’t had any luck with untamed despite how much I want it to. Haven’t figured out Mesmer. 
 

what do you guys think? What’s ur top 3 tanky professions/specs. All help and advise is strongly appreciated 

[So What Elite Spec you want next?]

I’m a pretty new player and this is going to be weird but I kinda want to seee a longbow spec. Just cause the short mortar range makes me wish I had that ranger distance. 
 

my idea would be a true mech spec so you go into the mech like a holosmith ability but it has a health pool like the mechanist. 
 

once the mech dies or gets undone you go into ranged mode.

 

the mech would be all melee and Tanky and have a longish cast time so people aren’t quickly switching from tank to ranged kinda like a build up and build down animation.

Mech has Bug issues but its damage, its presence, its impact... makes up for how clunky it moves.

I may be new here but I don’t understand why people still talking about playable tengu in EoD.

 

wasn’t there already a expansion announcement? Wouldn’t they have talked about something as big as a new race, that’s usually a big selling point in mmos.

 

I mean I would love to play one as I play charr now but wish he was more upright like the tengu plus not a fan of the big heads. But i don’t expect to play one unless they announce it during an expansion announcement.

 

forgive my ignorance but if gw2 expansion announcements work differently then other mmos let me know. It just seems like all the work/effort involved in making a new race would make it hard to hide/ dumb to not announce right away.

Interesting, so can y’all also let me know what’s worth getting for the Halloween event? Like any cool transmog or are they temporary costumes? I love Halloween events in game so I’ll want to collect everything I can. What should I do to take full advantage of

Answer on the question which class to play is always the same. Whichever you like the most. Most classes can have various play styles with different builds and gear. On top of that, making alts is really easy in this game once you play for a while. So if you decide you don't like one, you will easily make another.

[New player event overload]

Hey I’m new here and want people’s take on a few things, mostly on the event.

 

what should I be doing to take advantage of this event? 
 

I saw a npc had 20 bag slots which is something I’ve been struggling with since I started playing so I thought my best route would be to use one of my boosters on a “event farming” profession to get the bags for my main. I choose theif since I heard daredevil is a good spec for it but I don’t have any hero points and I’m not sure if grinding those out will give me enough time to actually farm out those bags. 
 

with the exp boost I’m not sure if instead I should be just lvling and not worrying about the event at all since I’m already going to get a weapon once I hit lvl 10?  (Unsure if it’s automatic or if I have to talk to someone) 

 

lastly (and thanks for bearing with me for this long) I needed advice on what I should main. I like pvp mostly in WvW and random bg type games and I prefer a good bruiser type class with both decent damage and survivalability.  I’m like how I can try any class I want right away since I have all the expacs and I’ve been digging holosmith and scrapper specs for engineer. Is there any other professions I should give a try and is any of the new elite specs for EoD looking good for pvp?
