  1. I like mace on my Scrapper. It has a leap which helps maitaining quikness. I find it ok for doing open world stuff but yeah, the confusion changes definitely nerfed the weapon pretty hard. I'm looking forward to shortbow though. Hopefully it's going to be better than the current pistol
  2. Disrespect ? As a veterant I'll have to ask, in what way Anet disrespected me ? I get that it may seems annoying that something can now be aquired in a less annoying way/less grindy way. But how exactly is it disrespectful ? If you are a long time player like me, you had all the time to do a complete set of legendary armor, trinket and weapon. You had all the time to unlock skyscale, griffin and their mastery. You had all the time you wanted and still have all the time you want to play with your shiny stuff. What is 1 legendary amulet and weapon for a new player compared to all the legendary stuff a veterant could have ? It is a motivation to keep playing the game and enjoying their stuff but I dont get how it suddenly seems to invalidate your fun of the game to a point you felt disrespected. The game is old now and allowing new/returning players to get a boost in their account wealth by allowing them to get a free legendary amulet and/or a free weapon (well not entirely free but save a lot of time) is a genius move. New players will get taste of one piece of end game item and it's a great motivation to keep them supporting the game. Again, it is one amulet or weapon, it's not going to be a massive game changer so to speak but it is still a pretty good boost for their account. It is true there are player you will do one thing, get what they want and leave the game. And it's fine so to speak, I dont see it as a problem. But honestly, if you are a veterant and that type of player, chances are you already left the game because by now you already completed your goal so it's kind of a moot point to talk about it from a veterant perspective.
  3. Hammer is the superior option if you're looking for DPS. Rifle damage is mediocre at best and the only niche thing it brings is a ranged CC. If you need range just switch to grenade kit
  4. Or better, completely rework the elite skill
  5. That is most likely why most relic that proc on elite skill have a quite underwhelming effect.
  6. Sword is still pretty meh when used outside of Holosmith unfortunately even after the buff.
  7. It's too early for me to give give a definitive opinion. Most relics are honestly underwhelming with a few interesting exception but even these exception looks kinda...meh. I expect Anet to add a lot more relic with hopefully better effect.
  8. As far as Engineer goes, I find it pretty ironic that despite getting double the amount of weapon it can now use going from 3 weapons to 6, only 1 of them end up being pretty good overall which is the hammer (who did not expect that one). Sword feels pretty underwhelming when not used with Holosmith and Mace...for DPS it's ok I suppose, I'm not too convinced by the performance especially after the confusion changes and it's a good option for support only because it's the only weapon available right now that can provide some barrier and regen. Well this is something I've already mention during the test session so no real surprise here. For the most part Anet did not change much regarding weapons so I dont have much to say. I'm just waiting to see how the new weapon will perform. Hopefully it will bring something good and fun for a while
  9. Yes it was nerfed when they announced the lift of weapon spec restriction
  10. Ah yes the infamous running with superspeed. The same superspeed that Anet drastically nerfed a while ago. While superspeed is good, saying it outrun everything is simply wrong considering immobilization exist and instant teleportation with 1200 range exist as well. Have fun trying to outrun a willbender or a thief, hell even a warrior now. If I'm being told to pick between a leap and an instant teleportation, in 99% of scenario I would definitely pick the teleportation because it is instant and I wont have to worry about a potential random CC or immobilization catching me mid air and then stopping me in the process.
  11. It would be better sure, you're basically transforming the skill into a classic aimed leap that removes movement condition. But Anet might just nerf it afterward and Engineer already has a hard time keeping up with all the stupid movement powercreep, the last thing we need is more movement powercreep.
  12. I'm looking forward to see how Shortbow on Engineer will looks like. As far as existing weapon goes, it will be Hammer on Holosmith and Mechanist. Rifle mesmer looks pretty interesting as well. Considering Mesmer has a peculiar use of weapon (Greatsword and dagger with 1200 range) it might be tons of fun or straight up OP with some spec like Mirage. Sword+Warhorn on Elementalist seems like a potential strong combo, I havent tested but it definitely looks nice. I suppose mace on Ranger is something I'm curious about so definitely going to check that
  13. This is a you issue then. I've never had this problem with my Deadeye and I still dont have it. The few time I messed up is due to poor timing which isnt the game's fault
  14. It's pretty hard to justify taking supply crates nowadays, especially in PvE when you have things like Mortar kit, Prime light beam or Overclock signet that are just better overall. The only thing that is more or less on par with Supply crate is Elixir X but that skill really needs a rework. The only skill that is worse than supply crate is the sneak gyro, although it does have some niche use. Supply crate at the end of the day is just a glorified ranged CC on a long CD.
  15. I wont raise my hope high so that I'm not disappointed if sword is left in that state. As for shortbow, we dont know yet but my guess would be either a condition weapon or a hybrid weapon kinda like what grenade kit is. We can just wait and see for the relase/potential test session
  16. To be honest Hammer damage isnt exactly bad and you can stack might + vulnerability with your auto attack. But again, adding a weapon swap isnt going to do anything. Hammer being a power weapon there is only one power weapon that you can use that isnt completely trash when used outside of your spec which is the rifle. But even the rifle damage isnt exactly game changer. Rifle 2 and 5 can fit into a rotation, rifle 4 is going to be used for CCs. And then what ? You're stuck with rifle for another 5 seconds of doing underwhelming damage before changing to Hammer again. Of course some will say "but just slot a kit" which in the end defeats the purpose of weapon swapt because the goal is to replace the kit with the weapon swap. Also this is something not many people mentioned but assuming we do get a weapon change, I can bet Anet is going to go and nerf all our kit one way or another to "compensate" for that. So yeah sure, all the grenade haters are going to praise Anet for that, but they are just going to kill the only kit that is currently performing well and dig an even deeper hole for all our other kit. Also, this is hard for me to even suggest something as far as Scrapper goes because I dont know what Anet wants the Scrapper to be and Anet themselve dont know what they want Scrapper to be. When they planned to make gyro a 900 ground target skill and people responded negatively to that change, Anet stated they will leave our gyro as is BUT they will be changing it again in the future. And only....god I guess knows what Anet might be cooking or trying to cook for us.
  17. Give rocket boot evasion when traited and IMO that's enough. This is the only long range movement we have and I can tolerate the clunkiness of the tool, however it's so annoying to have your skill being interrupted because someone managed to put immobilize on you in the air and then you're suddently in full stop. And honestly in world where Willbender is basically blue thief, Elementalist having access to perma super speed by basically running Air trait, Thief being thief and Warrior basically being immune to any movement condition when using a movement skill, I dont think this is change is going to be too much. The rocket kick is whatever. I wouldnt mind the CC although engineer has a lot of CC to be fair, but Anet being Anet they might just end up nerfing something in the process for the sake of balance and then make either the toolbelt skill or the whole skill garbage.
  18. For PvE solo you'll want something that can take few hits so you'll probably want to play either celestial or traiblazer for instance. PAlac Mech is mainly for group support and to answer your previous question, you can just trade Berserker gear for Diviner. Yes it will lower your DPS but to be fair, P Alac mech DPS is arguably the worse of all support spec, benching at about 25-26k DPS when other alac provider bench at least at 32-33k. At this point honestly the loss of DPS is not going to matter than much however you will want to give your party full alac uptime.
  19. The damage QDPS Scrapper does compared to other spec is to be fair average. A +1k/-1k DPS isnt going to matter much in most encounter and your job is mostly to bring quickness rather than doing full DPS. And honestly, considering how bad most Engineer weapons are, you arent exactly going to win much by adding weapon swaps to the class. I am pretty sure I would rather keep using grenade kits over rifle anyway.
  20. Scrapper DPS, at least on PvE is in a decent state. If your talk is all about whether or not to use grenade kit then there are already other topic mentioning that issue. And no I dont think buffing Scrapper damage is going to change anything, in fact it will just leave Scrapper in a state where it has more chances to gets nerfed in the future.
  21. Well not every weapon are built equal. To take your Ranger lowbow example, the weapon used to have a perk that would increase the range from 1200 to 1500. Then for some reason Anet decided to baked that trait into the weapon and give it an additional piercing effect if you take the trait. If you want to bake in the trait, that would means in the end Ranger longbow got 2 pretty strong buff given for free: the piercing effect and the additional range. Then on the other side you have Engineer pistol for instance that has been and still is extremely underwhelming despite the QoL update on pistol a few patches ago. The weapon only has 1 trait that kinda helps it which is the +33% condi duration on the firearms perk. Bake that trait into the pistol, it is barely going to change anything. I highly doubt the new weapon are going to be dead on arrival like you suggest. If anything they are more likely to be overtuned or straight up killing some existing weapon that were in a bad state. Why ? Because it is an expansion weapon. Taking the shortbow of the Engineer, I dont know if it is going to be power or condition but if it's condition, I am 100% certain it is going to be the new meta condition weapon for Engineer and pistol is going to be left rusting in a forgotten underground room.
  22. I wouldnt be against it. It would offer a kind of "oh kitten" button to prevent overheating and for DPS, it is basically another way to deal extra holoforge damage without overheating.
  23. I run this rune mainly for the power+ferocity buff but the golem is a pretty fun and decent summon. Very annoying against small trash as it bumps them around but pretty decent at dealing with CC bar against bosses.
  24. Mechanist is a Canthian spec so it does fit the whole jade thing. That being said, Anet removed Engineer's kit backpack for no real reason and mortar kit still has a placeholder weapon that will pretty much stay unchanged until the game dies at this point so...Yeah dont expect much
  25. What is the "niche" category supposed to represent ? Taking Snowcrow as an example, each build are either recommended / effective / beginner / legacy
