  1. I will never believe for one second Ryland still had his free will, nor Bangar. Had this taken place before the first Dragons fell, I'd believe it. Hell, had they been closer like the prior with Jhavi, I might have given them credit. However, there were several unique ways they could've gone with this story. They chose the 8 year old fan fiction way.
  2. Still... it's not plausible in any sense that the Charr would believe this idiot. Imperator or not. This is so unbelievably fringe. Except no bonding took place here. They sought one thing and one thing alone: power. A bond insinuates a partnership; similar to the Commander and Aurene. Even though it is very likely Aurene could obliterate the Commander, she treats them almost like an equal and like a friend. It was the exact same thing as the SoS; Manipulation through the allure of power and temptation is not, nor should it ever be construed, as "bonding." Always appreciate your well-thought comments, Konig.
  3. Lmao. I guess the huge Sons of Svanir army just wasn't good enough. It's also noted proximity leads to influence. Jormag didn't manipulate crap at the beginning. Bangar willingly decided he wanted to go get a dragon... somehow (which makes zero sense) thinking he can tame an Elder Dragon... even when you say "people didn't understand the relationship between Aurene and the Commander," it's at least obvious the Commander had influence on her since BIRTH! Meaning the behavior was easily like a parent-child relationship. It was an idiotic move for the story to take. It made ZERO sense for them to do this. It was extremely obvious to anyone who knows barely anything about GW2 lore what would be the result. The Charr are master tacticians. They know war better than any other race... meaning even the dumbest Charr would've known Bangar's stupid idea NEVER would have worked... it made the Charr (and the writers) look stupid. Jormag didn't "copy" anything... All Elder Dragons had many champions throughout the game. Making them some pivotal point where they fought for them while the Elder Dragon sat back and fired "lazy" beams was a moronic way to exterminate the two in IBS... Also, Jormag's "quest?" You mean to kill Primordus for no other reason than he's a brute and for some reason they're "bonded?" By what? I guess Soo-Won didn't tell them their entire job was to "hold back the void" (complete ad hoc, bad writing) meaning, Jormag's "quest" was to doom the world, including itself. Pretty stupid for the most cunning dragon in the lore. Again. All dragons did this. Even Zhaitan. What? In-depth? You mean there's a power imbalance and Jormag got more power so the scales are tilted? How's that "In-depth?" That's as simplistic as it gets. That wasn't the problem. The problem was the stupid story behind it that Jormag hates Primordus because...uh... they're fire and ice, DUH! Primordus is stupid or something... Then, they both get baited in the most obvious ploy in gaming history (mind you, these are two Elder Dragons that have lived for thousands of years, who have witnessed the rise and fall of countless nations) and then somehow get tied to their "Champions" and then poofed out of existence. Literally. It's like I asked an 8 year old to write how they die. You're right. As bad as the writing was for IBS, I guess at least they didn't do this...
  4. Saying all Dwarves are dead... and then they're not... and not having them as a playable race.
  5. I accept all corrections... but this is the first time I've heard this. What was the "corruption?" Where is it mentioned?
  6. I disagree with this wholeheartedly. Only a person looking at this through some kind of biased lens would come to this conclusion. You even capitalized it, when it's lowercase in the very subtitles they added. It's the context: The narrator is literally referring to an imbalance of magic with the void (singular noun)... NOT an invading entity (proper noun). This flowed perfectly with the story lore: Zhaitan's magic falls into the system and begins the imbalance... it's somewhat stable still; although changes are definitely being noticed. It almost appears to be a boon for Mordremoth... then Moredremoth dies next... now we're seeing corruption. Primordus is beginning to stir from the corruption of now being overwhelmed with both death and life magic. We're lucky with Dwarven tech and put him back to sleep. Balthazar's scheme interrupts Taimi from killing Primordus altogether and drains him of his power; we stop it knocking both him and Jormag out of the game. However, all isn't the same for the already awake Crystal Dragon--the dragon that was already almost killed by Destiny's Edge. He's pissed now. Balthazar fails his mission resulting probably one of the most catastrophic endings we've had to any given story: Kralk now has life, death, and Balthazar's god magic allowing him to traverse the Mists-- a magic (to my knowledge) never consumed in such large capacity by any being. He's primal now. He's incredibly corrupted by the warring magic. All he can do to suppress the pain is eat. Whenever he isn't eating, he's raging. Blindly, he charges to consume Aurene as the ultimate bait and you know the rest. This was beautifully written, exciting, and foreboding. Once Kralk is killed... now we know what's to happen with the remaining 2 Dragons on mainland Tyria. There was such incredible potential with what Primordus and Jormag could have become after Kralk... I argue they could've had their own expansion... Tyrians caught in between the most ravenous sibling rivalry in history. Jormag's cunning and Primordus' brutality could have changed maps, boiled/frozen seas, rose more islands from the deep, thawed out ancient ruins, etc... but instead, they wanted to get their ideological/political crap in so we got the terrible garbage of IBS. All the cunning allure from Jormag was gone in an instant with the most obvious bait in history. Then, they utterly abused what Champions actually were to the Dragons and made them into mindless, prideful morons who just face-tank for their Dragon while they stand back and shoot "lazy" beams. Then poof! They're dead. Lol. What a joke. What happened to Zhaitan's reliance on his Champion, the Eye? It was well hidden... knowing its crucial weakness at a price of significant gain by having the Eye that could see nearly anywhere. What was lost to strike at it. Then you find out it's a system... Next is the Mouth that feed Zhaitain. It gave these dragons both incredible depth and showed they were vulnerable... I guess you could argue they weren't "Champions," but I would argue they were... You can tell there was this simplification of writing that entered GW2 during IBS. Every prior dragon was complex and multi-factored, each with significant strengths and weaknesses. Tactics and innovative methods were needed to take on each one. The Pact and other alliances were interwoven into each mission and map. Sacrifices had to be made to succeed. Endings were barely even considered bittersweet. Then... we get: ROAR! Primordus mad! Primordus smash! Jormag hates Primordus. Why? Cause Fire and Ice. DUH! No explanation needed, pleb. They're like bound or whatever. Then the most cunning, manipulative Elder Dragon in the lore, Jormag, gets hardcore baited and then literally POOFED! Braham didn't even die after becoming Primordus' Champion. Hahaha. It's just so bad. Why are you defending the very obvious change in the quality of writing? I'm so curious.
  7. This could have easily been construed (and was by me) to be the mixing of magics. Kralkatorrik even described the magic "warring" within him. No mention of the Void whatsoever even though he was literally created by Soo-Won to "hold back" the void... I guess the "great" mother just left that detail out when raising the psychopathic killer.
  8. Never even got a meta with him in it. He was leagues better than Soo-Won.
  9. I believe they made it up after writing themselves into a corner during IBS. Primordus was a joke. All the secrecy, allure, and temptation-based intelligence of Jormag was gone in an instant with the most obvious bait in history. Same with the Soo-Won creation crap. Basically: I was with the void at the start. Why didn't the void kill me? Don't know. Why did the void allow me to create Tyria in the midst of it? Don't know. Why did the Void let me create and raise 5 children who would "hold it back?" Don't know. Why would I create 5 of the worst calamities to ever come to Tyria knowing the immense suffering they would cause and their horrible fates of death? Because she was lonely, guys...Ohhhh. Guess it's cool then. Soon-Won is the worst character in all of GW2 in my opinion. The whole story is how she protected Cantha and how she was just a sad wittle soul who just wanted to be happy... at the cost of billions of untold Tyrian lives, incredible catastrophes, creating 5 children without an ounce of morals, decency, or even an understanding of what their role was in "holding back the void." PRIME parenting. The Void is literally never mentioned by Mordremoth, Kralkatorrik, or Jormag (the only Elder Dragons before Aurene that spoke). You can argue Kralk was corrupted by the void... but it was always construed to me that eating fellow Elder Dragon's magic, a huge piece of Balthazar, and almost the entirety of the Mists can corrupt a body regardless of how powerful... BUT now it's the void I guess. I think this was also a budget decision. Focus everything you have on Cantha, make it look great (no arguments there; great job design team), then we can reuse the crap out all our aspect models and just make them look chaotic! Oooh. Scary! Alright! Now bring back an old enemy with a NEW face...AETHERBLADES! Good! Who's the new face? We haven't had an Asura as a major bad guy yet... BAM! ANKKA! Why's she jaded? (Lol... I laugh at how stupid this was) How about she was stuck in the Fractals and had to kill herself thousands of times to get out... GREAT!(lmao. Feels like I'm on Reddit with that one). Now, reskin the rest of the monsters! Expansion done! ***Of course, I know there's much more to the expac... I'm partially teasing... I love my jade bot and Turtle mount. So much fun! Definitely want future mods.
  10. It's people like you as to why I've stopped responding. Following where the conversation leads is somehow "projecting personal issues onto the game's characters." I don't like where the story is going and it's gone way too far for me to care anymore. Especially when this community is extremely bigoted when it comes to opinions that go against the narrative. If that were true, we would've had an advancing civilization thousands of years ago. It took a nation adopting true Christian principles (as Europe's tyrannical church was false) and creating a foundational document (the Constitution) which respects the basic rights granted by God (independence, freedom, life, liberty, pursuit of happiness, "love" thy neighbor). These rights have existed since the dawn of time... but humans resisted them... always because of power. We only achieved this age when we finally returned to those things. No "evolution" needed. Had we stuck to those principles from the very beginning, who knows what glorious tech we would have by now. More reasons this will be my last response. Completely irrelevant to my OP. People focusing on this when it was just a blip in the conversation thread and not my OP... but people still think I'm putting my personal beliefs into this...lol. Hahahaha. He was such a forgettable 'nothing' of a character, it took 3 weeks+ for someone to correct me. Just further proves my point with how terrible of a character he was... I thought it was Yi this whole time and I think I'll still call him that. Yup. You're right. I couldn't find anything that supports my argument here. I really did try. I guess I've had it wrong since HoT. I know Necro isn't my main, but I SWEAR even the ability icons were a ominous yellow...Oh well. Wouldn't have been my color scheme choice, but again, that's not my call. Bottom line: I don' think I'll be returning for another expansion if this next LWS6 (or 5 if IBS didn't count or was like an intermission or something) doesn't have some serious changes to the writing. Soo-Won was a horrible, evil character (her actions killed billions of Tyrians) and her creationist story makes ZERO sense; they ruined what I thought the Dragon Cycle was, Ankka was mediocre at best; honestly, she's barely memorable, it's clear to me the writers hate male characters, and I won't support a company who injects their personal ideology into their story. I don't care which side, left/right/up/down, etc... Keep politics of the modern times OUT OF GAMES! I wish you all the best of luck and have as much fun with this game as you want! This is just MY opinion!
  11. With no explanation. The Cycle ended with more questions than answers. In my opinion, this was a horrendous direction for them to go. This makes literally no sense. If it wasn't a threat... why break it up? Except for Zhaitan and Primordus. If there isn't a book you can point me to, a dev blog, or somewhere in game, it isn't lore. Correct me if I'm wrong though... I'm pretty sure this had to do with them coming from the Mists. At least the Skyscales. Joon was a terrible, spoiled, and entitled brat to me. She was using Soo-Won for her own personal gains. Her prejudices against foreigners is what lost her the dragon. Tell that to those who view Joko as a savior. Wrong. The first hostile action was him hiding his identity from the group. This makes the argument moot then. Arguing that we should've used diplomacy at some point when finding out later there was never a chance for diplomacy... is a silly argument.
  12. It's irrelevant. I don't care what order they woke up in. It literally doesn't matter to the point I made in that Mordremoth is dark green, entered the center to consume Tyria. A diagram that the Priory made up, never once viewing The All vs. your character seeing The All in person...I know which one I'm believing. Cool. I think the same of you. See ya.
  13. Still doesn't make sense. How was she able to take a domain from the void if she couldn't resist it now? Which is the exact opposite for Aurene. Doesn't make sense. But it didn't corrupt her then...only now? Ok... Now somehow "Nothing," the void, is evolving... right... No. You can't. When you say "Eternally," you cannot relate. Yes, it is. You are a mortal being that cannot grasp the concept of eternal life. Finally. Something we can agree on. This definitely was not the original direction of the writing. "Well-known?" No it isn't. Where? Where the hell does it say this? I've seen it. It's a good movie... but Chris Pratt's character is a monster. He condemned her to death before reaching her destination because he become obsessed. It is a similar concept. They painted a good ending on it, but I can assure you it wouldn't have been a good ending. Yup. You're right. I was confusing it with the Dwarven machine in Ember Bay. Consequential or collateral damage from a result that would've been 100x worse if the other end played out is NOT the fault of the heroes. If you seriously view it the other way, we have nothing to talk about and I would advise you to take a good, hard look at your morality in this world. That's like saying someone comes into a neighbor's home with a gun, they have a gun in their house, they kill the intruder and you think the neighbor should be charged with murder because "well, I mean there's consequences for killing someone." Insane. Twins? Lol. What a joke. The same could've been said about Soo-Won/Kralkatorrik and Zhaitan and Mordremoth. Water/Lightning and Life/Death. Yet nothing is ever mentioned about being "bound" to the other half. It's bad writing. And? All that did was show the Canthans part of their justice system was seriously flawed. I really didn't like this spin on the story. Very disjointed and out of place. Exactly my point. Some would disagree with you and I though... What if that person was so terrified to die, they would rather work as a slave but stay alive? I'm saying it's not impossible for good intentions to exist within the concept. Playing ball and waiting for a moment to steal Taimi's machine are the same thing. Sorry, you're not going to convince me otherwise on this. Again, your view on reality is twisted. You say "Struck" but all the mirrors did was trap him. It trapped him so they could identify and then talk. It's ridiculous to think we were anywhere in the wrong in that scenario. I'll say this, I'd never want you on my team if that's the case. No. There was no chance for diplomacy. Period. It's literally the reason the other gods trapped him in the mists.
