  1. The problem here is that while you can get the poi by bum rushing it, if the event hasn't opened the area you are teleported out in under 2 seconds. Sometimes you're tossed before you even ping the poi so you have to charge in a few times to get it. There is simply not enough time for the full channel process to get the lantern lit, mounted or not.
  2. The bank in a city is shown by a bag symbol. It's true that a frequent question in Map from new players is "where is the bank?" to which several helpful sorts link the nearest wp and say to look for the bag. But it's not actually that hard to learn where six cities keep their banks.
  3. I was going pretty fast on it. Full heavy soon after it could be made, several light pieces at a piece every week or two. RL has gotten ugly, though, and after making the light head I've flagged. Too low on resources, no oomph to run metas and exploration and convergences and weekly rifts to accumulate more. Today's post about the fun stuff coming tomorrow got me jazzed up again, a bit, and I did a meta and one map's weekly rifts before breaking for dinner and guild rp. But I don't know when I'll get the focus back I need. Maybe when I finish my non-GW2 creative project that's been a helpful distraction from Bad Things.
  4. Sorry to have misstated it. I have only needed to reforge ascended gear a few times over the past decade. It's easy enough to give the duplicate to an alt, or to keep accruing laurels, or to use exotic. If you must have ascended due to doing fractals, then you will get the accessories you need over time just from doing fractals as I understand it. They are cleverly designed to allow self-contained bootstrapping.
  5. You can also make your duplicate accessory equippable by changing it in the Forge so it's the same one but upgraded. The wiki has details on how. Just don't upgrade both exactly the same way.
  6. I don't know if anyone's suggested this yet. I'd -almost- put this in Bugs except it did get changed a little already. Regarding the "yoga" section of the Amnytas meta, specifically the hotkeys: There is very little feedback to let you know which move you have tapped. Originally there was nothing, you couldn't even be sure you'd hit the correct key. Now there's a brief flash but then no indicator while you are channeling the move. Yes, your animation should tell you, but you're in a stack of other characters and, if you're like me, you're very zoomed out so it can be difficult or impossible to see your character. On top of that I consistently have UI things vanish during the SotO metas, usually just parts of my mount, then all of my mount, but sometimes my hotkeys turn invisible within their borders. Even with visible icons on the hotbar, if I'm not watching for the little flash it can feel like pressing my key did nothing, as if I were lagged. It helps that Dagda always does the same sequence, and it is definitely great that she has a colored orb plus her giant projection turns the correct color. Would it be possible to have more indication on the hotkey that you have in fact hit it and are still channeling that move? Perhaps a brighter border around the key while channeling would be enough; a full on animated pulse would be a bit much with everything else going on.
  7. I have mixed feelings about the two metas. Heitor is much faster once the boss starts, and even overall, but the beacons part is annoyingly tedious and if done right doesn't even offer any combat for xp, weapon use achieves, or loot. Clearing the gate area is also tedious. Knaebelag has more variety and rewards along the way, but the minibosses on the ledges are also a grind to get through. I've tried soloing the beacon lighting in order to then tell others the bad part's done, come help. Sadly, the minibeacon goes out fairly easily so it takes enough time to light it and return for flame that the event runs out of time. I just want my Clots, so whichever is closer to finishing is the one I'll go to. Right now I will probably push for Knaebelag next to get that part of the April Fools achieve done, and that might be why Heitor's seeing less people engaged with it at the moment, they're also preferring the west meta for a small extra thing to progress (it only gets you another of the tonics, but it's *something*).
  8. *grins* Hence my "in the best way" comment 😉 As in we can already have invisible backs for free, and maybe we want to occasionally have a back showing with an outfit -- so using this means having to transmute to quickly don a cloak, or to have the cloak showing with an outfit but not with the armor. But if you *never* want a back showing with a specific armor set, this is a very good skin.
  9. The meta reward is also magnificent! And useless! In the *best* way. Now that I have it I will go feed my very visible cats.
  10. The only reason they could make it so fast was they had over 5 months notice on the requirements and worked on them throughout that time, so once the armor was released there was very little left to do to fill in the gaps. I was almost instantly ready to make one set because I worked at it during all those months. I wasn't sure what would be required to make all 18 pieces, so I held off on accumulating more. Now I've made half the second set and can make a 4th piece in it fairly soon, though some bad RL stuff has drastically slowed me down -- but it seems very unlikely to me that anyone made all 18 pieces inside of two weeks starting from scratch. Even if they used real money for gems to gold to buy the buyable parts, there's still just so much exploration, meta completions, and essence gathering to do it would be very difficult to do it that fast. (Yes, with enough gold you can now buy essence via the tradeable containers from convergences ... that would take a leviathan among whales to do, however).
  11. It's been making me glad of my many alts. Lanterns take some time to light, a poi is yours just for moving close enough. Plus, as I don't have BlishHUD, pois are easier to find because they show up on my map for a first completion. So my 18 completions are being done with fresh mappers each time. As a bonus this alleviates the repetition because I have different skills and weapons to use on the various events I join while mapping. I do hope they move that lantern out like they did for the Great Hall, though. Not everyone has enough level 80 alts to make the armor without dealing with the inaccessible lanterns.
  12. I would wait on that until you see what t2 requires. You might want plenty more essence of all tiers.
  13. Way back when in the vanilla or even beta days, they had an interview with the sound designers in which it was pointed out that when you fire pistols, you get different sounds of the falling casings depending on what you are standing on. If you're on corrugated metal as in skritt roofs, you get metal clanging instead of the duller thump from dirt. The sound design is sometimes hard to notice, because it's so very well done that it all just blends in to immerse you, but it comes from extraordinarily talented people with deep attention to detail.
  14. Hopefully t2 will address some of these concerns. I agree engineers are generally unlikely to be festooned with stabby bits (and those hooks sticking out aren't great for thieves shimmying through windows or rangers wading through underbrush). But on behalf of my very nice cheerful people-person necromancer who is a talented tailor, I have to object to saying necromancers can't be elegant. Necromancy isn't evil in Tyria, it's just another magic source. Would you say a mortician couldn't wear a tux or ballgown? Harrumph.
  15. If every single alt of mine could dance like a sylvari, they so very much would. And if new dances are possible (I know, it's resources ANet may just not have to spare), now that two person mounts and chairs are possible ... why not some ballroom dancing? Viennese waltzing, tango, polka, swing, the character with the 'dance mount' could steer the pair around, maybe the 'passenger' could get some flair moves like a spin-out, dip, or aerial. Norn/Asura pairs would take some finagling but there's gotta be a way. Or just give every race the Charleston. That's a non-touching couples/group dance that looks great when people face each other to do it but also works solo.
  16. I don't have exactly that issue but I do find that when I've been put in action camera, eg for sharpshooting magic fox boxes, I sometimes return to normal except one mouse button no longer rotates the camera. Like Biziut, I toggle action camera on and off to regain full camera control. One day I might actually have my keybind toggle for that memorized ... as it is I have to bring up my keybindings to remind myself what it is almost every time. Anyway, try doing the mount/dismount and/or the action camera toggle when you lose camera rotation to see if that reminds the game how your controls are supposed to work.
  17. All they'd really need to do to fill in that gap would be to add a collar to the helm or chest. Could be chainmail texture from helm, cloth from chest. Use the dye channel from the helm faceplate or the chest sleeves, to allow some contrast between pieces if desired. I agree with others in this thread who've noted the helm looks a little small, like it's a head replacement rather than a head addition. Not so much so as to bother me, though, at least when I pair it with good shoulders (pro tip, helm plus wintersday fur shoulders plus astral ward glider cloak is a solid basis for a lich-king cosplay). As I've noted before, my issue with the heavy armor lies more in its WoW-ness. With careful dyeing this is minimized, but given only two notable colors per piece that fill in very large visual areas, combined with giant shoulders and big curved shapes it's very hard to get away from the WoW look. I really hope that t2 adds detail (engravings, runes in the trim, filigree lines, etc) along with more dye options. For example look at Elonan vs Spearmarshal armor; the latter gets much better texture and pattern on the same base design. I'm not asking for flashy gaudy would never work in battle stuff, far from it, I am very happy to have useful-looking armor. But it's legendary. It should look like something someone with the "I'm Rich, You Know" title would wear.
  18. The vets immediately right of the entrance to Urban Battleground (fractal) also count. However, a corollary bug: I have completed t1 of warrior staff, some in Nayos, most on those vets, and the Wizard's Vault did not give me credit in the Special section for doing so. Screenshot (this is a Discord image of my achieve panel + wizard vault panel) https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1020063787606360084/1212613447737544846/ArtisanArmsWVNoCrd.JPG?ex=65f27947&is=65e00447&hm=075df85b09a4702fcb56b4bc2c7b9bd2037034aa98ed42b44ed094d2aeab4a7b&
  19. I did make the rune in advance. So instead of staring at needing a zillion lucents, I was able to make and sell two Facets for a nice little profit on something I was drowning in. Of course this doesn't help people that held off because rune costs went up so sharply after the announcement, or people that join the game later. But at least motes drop so much that 2500 mat storage still overflows with them even when they turn into piles at a cost of 10 per. It won't be an instant gratification for those who are crafting the Facets and have to wait for the motes to fill their coffers, but it also won't be terribly hard to eventually accrue the needed motes over time just by playing and salvaging. So long as the drop rate isn't nerfed, anyway.
  20. I'm hoping dyes will affect things. In the motion shots I could see some pretty nice leather texture on the medium. The overall look of the sets, especially Medium and Heavy, are a bit too WoW for me (big blocky fields with large trim edges); I was hoping for something a bit closer to the concept armor. Hopefully the t2 versions will have a bit more texture detail. We've gotten armor with lots of detail before, outfits likewise, so perhaps the upgrade will fancy things up a little. I don't need massive glows or spinny orbs, just engraving and embroidery 🙂
  21. Thank you both for the offered solutions. What worked for me was going off to play Nightingale for a while, then eating dinner. Now the store is working. Either it was a temporary server glitch or they fixed the problem.
  22. But that heart is easy! Get stealthed, u-turn, walk along the -outside- of the wall to the next entrance. Do that about 3 times total and you have the heart done. Literal thinking outside the box 😄 With activities being retired, I'll have to remember to do them to advance achieves if I want to wring more AP out of them, but I don't mind.
  23. I would like the new Arcane Marksman Pistol, but Error 102 says nope. I have my PayPal linked, have used it for years for gems. Today when I tried to buy gems, first I got the purchase panel looking like a text-only web page with blue html links (the typical images didn't load issue). I reopened the gem store, clicked again to buy gems, got the usual panel. Clicked on buy 800, it said to give it a payment method. I clicked as directed, got the page to add a payment method, my PayPal was on it. I deleted and re-added PayPal. Then it let me click on 800 gems; however, it did a spinny circle for a while before bringing up error 102. I have not tried again.
  24. A couple of trouble shooting things. One, after clicking on them have you moved your mouse back out to the main area? If your cursor is on any part of the UI the skill goes off at your feet instead. Two, have you got targeting set to snap aoe ground targeting to current target? This has a downside in that you cannot lead a target, the skill lands wherever they were at the moment you fire off the skill, and you can't place shields and such between you and a target. But it makes it super easy to drop your aoe on the target while you're moving (you still can't have the cursor on top of any UI elements, though). My question remaining from the stream is when can we expect these? I'm guessing Feb 27, when the wizard vault countdown concludes. But the balance update isn't until March, which will shake up builds twice in quick succession if that's only a couple of weeks apart, so maybe the weapons come with the balance patch rather than the next update? (I know the blog says with the next update, the stream just wasn't clear for me).
  25. Right now you can crank up your magic find (guild buff, banner buffs, food, utility food, bonfire, every possible source) and open envelopes in the Lunar Festival. If you sell back all the junk that drops from them you will at worst lose one silver and at best get items worth 8 gold at the vendor (don't buy them on TP, the markup will eat more than that one silver loss). If you do the Celestial Challenge you get the ability to buy more rewarding envelopes, up to 8 a day. Now, you do have to have 1 gold per envelope bought, so if you only have 10 gold to your name it's not a smart investment. Since you have SotO, that means you can also flat out buy gold with Astral Acclaim after you've bought the other valuable things. Here is one breakdown of what you can get, from the first season of the Vault, you can probably find something more current that talks about the relative value of everything if you look. https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/15yg9q2/wizard_vault_rewards_breakdown/
