  1. I opened 35 and did very well, possibly one of my best chest sessions ever. Got a 3-gold-key drop and from that got a merchant express (why not bank, whyyy), plus an omnomberry node and just one mining tool. Which does have a nifty animation but with the tool wardrobe only one is needed. One solution, though it would be super generous of ANet to the point they might not want to do it, would be to have a glyph come with the tool. This could be considered minor ptw, of course, but if a glyph could be extracted and sold then the extras wouldn't bother players so much (would need to be retroactively sent to everyone that already got the tool drops).
  2. It was worth it for me because I only had a few fairly expensive dyes left to collect. Now I've exhausted the dyes it comes with (it doesn't include the newest pack, so that's my six missing dyes other than the pending anniversary ones) and won't buy the weekly thing until more valuable dyes are available in it.
  3. It's a great QoL but I'll note that just now I've discovered it doesn't work completely correctly. I bought up some cheap items to get skins I don't want to "waste" wardrobe unlock rng on, and thought to check on dyes. As it happens, I am only missing six tradeable dyes (all of the newest set that includes World Ender and Torment). Repeated attempts with slightly different settings only brings up four of the dyes, though the remaining two are definitely buyable on the TP and can be reached by right clicking on them in my dye panel. Thus, the TP is not showing me -every- locked item I might want to buy. On the other hand, at least none of the locked items it displayed were actually unlocked, so it does help narrow down the options.
  4. For those that want to take advantage of the massive sales, a workaround might be to buy them but not apply the codes to the account. This means being organized enough to keep the codes safely findable at whatever point in the future one wants to begin the expansion, and assumes that the codes don't go "stale" and can't be hacked/stolen. (I personally apply codes the moment I have them out of fear someone else will somehow get hold of and use them, so this is just a brainstorm suggestion on possible ways to get the low price without Wizards Vault mucking things up for you).
  5. Maybe this will help with the numbers: I hit F and get my left ring/middle/index fingers on 2-3-4. Then watch the numbers light up in the hotbar. 2-3-4 lights up? Depress that finger. 1 lights up? Twitch the ring finger over to the 1. 5? Twitch the index finger to the 5. The middle finger stays on the 3 and I can visually note if what I need to press is on that finger or 1 or 2 away from it. Generally if I miss a number it's the first one while getting my hand in position and the rest go by smoothly and easily. As to the topic, yes, it would be very nice to get gasps from the chests if it turns out they are needed for the legendary collection process.
  6. I don't main Engineer so I'll defer to the many more expert opinions in this thread. My main issue with this implementation of shortbow is from another angle, though: accessibility. Anyone that can't reliably place multiple ground targets will simply be unable to use this weapon as presented. Is this a huge issue? No, I'm very much in the minority here with my failing hands and my mouse move that slides my cursor all over the screen. On Necro Scourge I have to use the trait that makes one big sand demon instead of three smaller ones, so I can auto snap aoe to target to get it placed while running and dodging. I'll be very surprised if there's anything similar here -- are these new weapons going to get any trait support? -- so if I play shortbow engie all my arrows are going to land in a clump in one spot. Again, not a huge issue, I do thief/mesmer/necro way more than engie. I'm not complaining, simply noting a possible play issue for some players.
  7. From the patch 5 hours ago: "Reduced the number of Clots of Congealed Screams needed to craft the Kryptis Wall decoration from 20 to 1." So it was an error and you can make all the flesh-goo walls you like now.
  8. You might question the design decision that made rare drops. But if you are upset that some people can get rare drops when you don't get them, keep in mind that they are desirable and valuable precisely because of that low drop rate. If they dropped like sand grains on a beach, you wouldn't be all that excited about having them, right? Which means that yes, some people just won't ever get one. I've been playing almost nonstop since the 2012 launch. The only infusion I've ever had drop is one or two of the ones from Halloween that go for under 30 gold. I opened a ton of bl chests during the years I was saving for a permanent hair stylist, and yep, ended up paying my 1700 gold or so for it on a bid because nothing that valuable ever dropped for me. I've had maybe three precursor drops in all that time, all of them under 50 gold in value at the time they dropped (I know I had the mace drop twice, I forget what the other was). Meanwhile a guildie got his permanent bank express in the last year just a few months after he joined the game. Did I grumble at his fortune? Nope, I was very happy for him and remain happy for him whenever he mentions the joy of using it.
  9. They reasonably inferred it from "It is not your job to Punish Players for being stupid enough to play your game! " Followed by saying you couldn't comprehend why anyone enjoyed the "6th grade" writing. You have some good points but you certainly could present them more constructively. And remember one of your points is that this game does have a wide player base -- so the parts you're complaining about are the parts other players adore. Very few players are going to adore every single thing about the game. You have found a number of things you dislike, so the balancing question for you becomes whether you enjoy enough of the rest of the game to keep playing it while ignoring those parts you don't enjoy.
  10. Thanks to a bug I've had invisible mounts a few times, always in crowded metas (eg Aetherblades, Amnytas). It's actually harder to fly an invisible skyscale than I'd have thought, it makes maneuvering feel very guesswork clumsy. Ditto with landbound ones, I can't tell where their feet are.
  11. I've just learned to push it into my "sell this stuff as junk" section of inventory. It's memeable how much that thing drops when each account only needs one of it. Now watch me accidentally sell off useful recipes with the same icon when they fix the loot tables by adding in more options ...
  12. Thanks, I knew I was probably messing it up somewhere. So far what with the new skyscale stuff and skin, the Astral Ward Armor, and the Oneiros -Spun Armor, all my essence has been readily disappearing in piece-meal amounts that has made it harder to track what I'm spending -- but I'm definitely not getting clogged up with the stuff.
  13. I'm guessing you aren't planning to make the new legendary armor. Each piece will need a purified essence, ergo 12 amalgamateds, and it turns out that you also need a purified essence for each piece of Oneiros-Spun armor, so that's six more purified on top of the six used to buy the Astral Ward armors (and you have to buy six Astral Ward and six Oneiros-Spun for collections required for the legendary pieces). The fourth undisclosed item for that collection may have similar costs though given Rift Hunter armor came from doing story there's *some* hope it will be easier. For now, we definitely need at least 1800 rare essence per armor piece for the first six pieces made. My rare essence is far from piling up, though it's true my bottlenecks are masterwork essence (t2 rifts aren't as commonly done) and soon ectoplasm (my large stockpile of globs is rapidly depleting at 50 used per amalgamated essence).
  14. It absolutely was doable in just a couple of leisurely hours including doing the Amnytas meta. For 50 vets you can go into the lowest tier Urban Battleground fractal, take a hard right when leaving the tent to get into the little pocket meadow, you'll get constantly spawning vets that die in one hit (I did it on power Chrono GS, just kept tapping 1 to laser them down, I had approx 15 vets from Amnytas stuff and got the remaining ones in under a minute).
  15. Earlier in that paragraph though: "Our old system saw players overwhelmingly aim for the fastest daily objectives, and it was rare for anyone to keep playing where the dailies directed them or, in some cases, at all for the day." "Playing rate" could mean duration of play. I agree that "paying" also makes sense, I'm not asserting it definitely is a typo. But from a PR viewpoint, when they're talking about trying to be rewarding and incentivize more engagement with play in longer play sessions, plus saying the Vault is intended to emphasize that strength, it's a sour note to say that the "strength" is how much players shell out. Especially since they've just been talking about how the Vault doesn't monetize, so how does its strength lie in getting more money? @Rubi Bayer.8493 Are you able to clarify which word was intended here? It's very ambiguous and does rather change the point of the whole interview depending on which was meant.
  16. That's the part that I think was (or should have been) a typo. The overall context is talking about wanting people to engage with the game rather than login for daily rewards and vanish. Also they are making a big point about not wanting to do bad monetization like other companies' battle passes. So I think it's at least possible the sentence should refer to a healthy playing rate.
  17. There is an unfortunate Freudian slip typo where it reads "paying" instead of "playing." At least I hope that's a typo.
  18. Even the springer still has good use. The skyscale is just a bit too clumsy to maneuver for a short vertical hop. For example on those days when I am collecting provisioner tokens and go for the one in the Black Citadel, I waypoint in and can either run around to the ramp or take a springer hop up. A skyscale would involve space bar and forward and down and dismount, while hugely interfering with many other players' cameras. A springer is hold the dodge key down briefly (don't need a full leap), bounce, interact. If I just need to clear an obstacle, or get on top of something quickly, the springer works better. Also I am helping a friend with EOD story. She's working on skyscale but doesn't have it yet, so I restrict myself to the mounts she has so as not to leave her behind. In general yes, I do use skyscale the most even though raptor remains my default keybind for mount/dismount. But it is seldom as fun as the other mounts and I mount-swap quite frequently as I move through varying terrain. Raptor and jackal are both good with their engage skills for pouncing kryptis in rifts, springer for initial breakbar on rift bosses, skimmer for zipping around Seitung's bays, etc.
  19. Good call, but yes, I made the correct ones. I made them through the nested recipes. I'll go back in to see if it's been patched, once I have time after Halloween fun 🙂
  20. Yes indeed, they were assembled. The crafting doesn't recognize that they exist. I don't know if it's been fixed, I haven't had the heart to try again after using up the mats.
  21. Thanks, I misread the question. Yeah, checking for unlocked skins that come from the Deluxe packages is the way to go. You can also make a free account and see what editions are available for it to buy, if it has all four then you know your real account has three of the four.
  22. This. Go to your account page via the link My Account at the bottom of this page, OP. The Overview tab should be the default open panel, and it shows each expansion the account has.
  23. Still puzzled, you asked to be able to click them later, and clicking takes under 10 seconds plus it means the window is open for you to check if you have anything you want to spend the AA on. The reason they require a click to receive is so you don't get handed more AA than you can hold and lose the excess. Imagine getting a 400 AA reward from a Special and realizing you were at 1100. Poof, 200 AA lost. The click puts the control in your hands as to when to receive the rewards.
  24. I'm puzzled. How much later? I don't have to click them when they are earned, in fact sometimes I forget because there was no chime and I look up later and see the little red dot notifying me I have one or more to click (there's a little white number in the dot saying how many). Now, I don't wait a long time, I certainly don't wait until after reset, but I definitely am not forced to click them while in combat. Likewise the final chest doesn't process until you click, so there's plenty of time to spend down your AA before gathering more if you need to stay under the 1300 cap.
  25. They must feel they make more money this way. If so, I question it -- I have certainly chosen not to buy some skins simply because I didn't want to give them bank space until using them on some future character. But it's very hard for me to get rid of something that counts as a free transmute charge. Though really I have a lot of transmute charges piled up now ... still, -if- I were to buy charges in the store (I don't, but hypothetically), I have enough unlocked account bound skins in my bank that it would be a waste to toss out that many charges. I've asked for years to have unlocked account bound skins convertible to charges. It's the same effect, if I want to use the skin I spend the charge it gave me if I haven't used that charge on something else, but meanwhile it's not clogging up my bank. At which point I'd buy more skins (with actual cash for gems, mind you, my gold goes to in-game stuff) because I wouldn't need to have an immediate use for something that caught my eye. I also would still buy more bank tabs if the max is ever raised because I can -always- find more stuff I want to hang onto. ANet's making -less- money off me with their refusal to implement this QoL.
