  1. I think they fixed it, the Side-Lace Pants blog is on the launcher now. We'll see next week if the Halloween announcement makes it 🙂
  2. For some reason the game launcher's "Latest News" doesn't update for a week. It's been happening about three weeks now that I've noticed. For instance today is when the Oct 3 news "Disguise Your True Power with the Traveler's Appearance Package" first appeared in the launcher, when today's new item for Oct 10 is the Side-Laced Pants. The Sept 26 Astral Manticore was also delayed a week, as was the Dark Tyrant blurb before that.
  3. I just ran into this. I am trying to make a pair of Guild Banquet Tables, which need short banquet tables. I made the shorter ones (using up mats), but they're just gone, and so I'm stuck unable to make the bigger one or even use the smaller ones as stopgap decor.
  4. Do you have mixed pve/wvw? My fully pve weekly has a JP but it's New Kaineng where I already have an alt parked. Opening the chest there got me the AA without issue.
  5. I gravitate to the ones that don't block my view of my character and the terrain I'm gliding over. I also avoid blinking, flashing, or swirling ones after using them a little while for the novelty because they can provoke motion sickness. I'd love an "invisible" glider. I've had one a few times thanks to a graphics glitch. It could add in some subtle wind whoosh effects, maybe small contrails off the fingers or body, but nothing obscuring the view.
  6. As another noted, this is true for normal loot chests but meta participation chests force a mid-screen pop up even on a right click, and as I said, they are molasses slow to clear. That's the bit that I'd like to see QoL improvement in.
  7. *ponders* I use a Razer HEX ... sorry, its replacement, with swappable button panels that I just use the HEX style one of ... and in the Synapse software I've bound my arrow keys to the side buttons, plus Shift (for games where shift-w is sprint and my poor left hand can't do that). In the game I've bound my wasd moves to the arrow keys so I can use them for strafing and a and d for turning in place. It all works fine. Now, I have not tried binding a key combo to a mouse button. ANet does have a rule against macros, though that shouldn't affect this. They require one action per click. Otoh combo keys are fine in game. I do have double click on a button behind my mouse wheel thanks to several mice getting destroyed by all the game's double clicking, and that does work. Try binding your skyscale to a single key, then binding your mouse key to that key. Though you say you have a normal mouse. This may be your issue. Maybe try the Razer? Mine is the Naga Trinity, using the panel with 7 buttons surrounding a thumb rest and I only use the four buttons closest to me as my hands are not big enough to reach the others. Very tactile, easy to find the buttons, good grip (though designed for a hand that includes a forefinger so might be a little bit of a strain to twist to use middle and ring fingers on the LMB/RMB). Downside, the Razer Synapse software that stores your device profiles is finicky and annoying and plenty of reviewers consider Razer overpriced for its quality.
  8. You can also go to any bank (bank teller or any crafting machine in the world) and click on the wardrobe tab at the bottom of the left hand options. Then click on weapons, then use the upper right drop down to narrow it to foci only if you wish. It will show you almost all skins -- some skins don't show up in the wardrobe until unlocked, mostly if they are gem bought, so as not to pressure completionists to spend money -- with the ones you don't have yet grayed out. Clicking on a skin in the wardrobe brings up the character preview window which has toggles to show the weapon stowed, wielded, or rotating in empty space by itself. You can rotate your character to view them with the weapon. It's not perfect, larger characters will be bigger than the window, some greatsword holding postures stick the end of the blade out of view, but it is very useful in planning an overall look. You can even preview armors at the same time so if you want to view without a giant skirt in the way you can click on slim pants.
  9. Having to click on those wiggling chests then mouse over to the center of the screen to accept the reward is indeed tedious. I can get motion sick from flickering motion in my vision so I have to click the chests right away, which means standing still (or, in this case, hovering on my skyscale) instead of helping fight. And there's a mini cooldown of sorts, so if you have multiple chests the next one isn't easy to quickly click, plus you have to mouse very carefully not to get the participation pop up window blocking the chest. It's a problem in other metas as well, notably the Chak Gerent. I hope they can improve the QoL properties of the meta reward chests to permit quicker clearing of them from the screen.
  10. I'd rather skins be more generally available, especially as these promotions tend to be for things I don't use. I have never had coffee in my life, for instance. But the narrower options in the EU don't mean ANet hates the EU, ANet would love to have more EU players and do nice things for their EU players. However, ANet cannot break EU (or the countries comprising the EU) laws, or the laws of any other country, and many of those laws make sweepstakes and giveaways impossible. So if you feel your country should let you have access to various game promotions, and you think the lawmakers will agree that it's a good idea to change the laws, you should petition your legislature. They won't agree with you, the EU is moving ever further away from allowing rng prizes or awards based on buying a product, but you can certainly try.
  11. You do need armorsmith, leatherworker, or tailor at 400 to craft the insignia per that wiki link, but it's useful to have crafting skill anyway and there are guides to get you to 400 fairly cheaply.
  12. Wizard Vault: Could there be an audio or visual notification that an objective has been reached? I know the icon gets a tiny red marker on it, but I have to actively look for that. The old daily system had a chime or something. I don't want a huge text notice or a pop up text box, certainly not! But something akin to what we had so if the reward is unlocked while we're in the middle of a frenzy of stuff we can break off and go on to other things if we wish to. Really a small chime would satisfy me in this. The silence feels lacking.
  13. For those telling OP it is them doing it to themselves, they did agree with that, their brain just reacts that way. OP, I also felt a lot of pressure to get every bit of AA at the start. I didn't realize how incredibly generous they would be with it (and I hope they never nerf it). I'm struggling to find things I want to spend it on and every update they keep giving out more Special category ones for hundreds of the stuff. I have all the skins, all the armor and weapons, all the cheap gold, just tons of stuff. I might buy some things that are considered "noob traps" at this point just to burn up the AA. Once you take a look at that, and do internalize that it's like missing out on one gold as you commented, you will hopefully be able to relax about it and use it as a guide to activities if you are looking for something to do or ignore it for a day or two if you have other projects. I just spent my evening in WvW to finish getting the Tahkayun blades, my AA comes all from PvE, and I didn't mind a bit 🙂 Last night I went through all my alts getting rid of swords since I made Bolt from the legendary starter kit and now have two legendary swords. No AA from that time either. And I'm still filling up the 1300 cap on a regular basis by doing things that progress me in other ways (rift events are very handy for a lot of the AA tasks). I know it's hard to convince yourself you don't need it all. But you truly don't. ANet hasn't made a FOMO machine (yet. They could very well tighten things up once folks are hooked, but players *will* notice and *will* comment and possibly *will* give up on the game if they do. Their blog on the system said they didn't want it to be a FOMO system. Let's hold them to that.
  14. I and others have been requesting for years now to be able to convert unlocked skins into transmutation charges. It's not like I directly buy charges anyway. (Indirectly, yes, they show up in bl chests upon occasion). And it's not like I wouldn't buy new bank tabs any time the cap is increased because I like having a lot of stuff. ANet would lose zero money from me if this change were made. They might make even -more- money since at this point I choose not to buy skins or lounge passes simply because I don't want to give up an inventory or bank slot to them. If I could clear out all current and future unlocked skins, turn them into transmute charges, and bonus mush all my teleport scrolls into one shared slot, I'd buy pretty much everything that looked halfway decent because it wouldn't use up space. (I almost never spend gold on gems. Money is much easier for me to gather than gold. ANet is actively losing money by ignoring this QoL change, at least from me and from others who have made similar comments).
  15. They are *sort of* counting. As in they all give credit for Mount Maelstrom's Rift Master rather than the map they are in.
  16. It's totally fair to wait and see, but we do have some indications already in game that the Astral Ward Armor is needed. Lyhr gives a legendary shopping list which includes the completion of the collection for each piece. If you look in the Legendary Armor part of the achieves panel you will see that each piece needs the corresponding Rift Hunter and Astral Ward pieces unlocked, along with two more things that are just ? right now. What isn't clear is if we will need to actively craft all 18 pieces. I've made the six heavy ones since I want to start with the heavy legendary armor. This unlocked all 18 pieces in Wardrobe and in Legendary Armor Collection credit, so I'm hoping I won't have to craft the other twelve and I certainly won't commit the resources to it until we see what's involved in the next release. It helps that I really did want the skins. I understand you're unsure the legendary armor will even come out or look anything like the concept art. To the first point, I think it's pretty safe to say it will come out and will provide the mechanical benefits of legendary armor. They have achieves set up for it. To the second, indeed, in-game implementations are usually clunkier in shape and less fluid in physics than the concept. Plus there may be animations that some people don't care for. So if your only interest is in the skin it makes every bit of sense to hold off until you know what it's really like. Maybe accrue mats for it that have other uses so if you choose to make the armor you're not months behind and if you choose not to then you have a lot of useful mats for other projects. I don't have any legendary armor because I have not found the methods of getting it fun. So far I'm enjoying casually playing the new content and seeing progress (I just finished those six pieces in the last couple of days; I've made a new alt to be a wizard wearing the new look and am about to take her gathering hp to become a Spellbreaker). Making the six pieces didn't feel grindy to me since all the stuff I needed for it was either showering on me just from doing metas and rifts when I felt like doing them, and I had most of the stuff for the Gifts built up already. I was only slowed down by working on the new skyscale skin which siphoned off the essences, which is why it took me until now to make the armor. Making the other twelve ... yep, I'd call that an annoying grind since there wouldn't be any skin unlocks or other progress to be seen, and the unlocks in the achieve panel has raised plausible hope that I don't have to make those so it'd be disheartening to have that hope dashed.
  17. Now that you get 4 choices and need to do 3 of them for the bigger chest, the Seitung minidungeon is completely skippable unless you are not raking in so much AA already that losing out on 10 AA is a hindrance. I was quite cheerful when I saw it on the list tonight, because I could gleefully ignore its very existence, a mental state I'd been waiting to experience since they patched us to one more choice. I wonder if there's a lot of squads bothering with it now that it's avoidable. (My numbers are correct. The login part is not a choice, it by definition will be done if you are working on dailies).
  18. True -- but to make the legendary armor there will probably need to be a lot of map completions. Possibly this will make players group up to open the poi. Or the lanterns will work (so long as there isn't one inside the hall. I haven't done a full lantern completion yet so I don't know if there's one lurking in there). Even so, having two pois that are event-locked is going to be frustrating for multiple alt completions. I have over 40 alts. It's always much easier and more fun for me to run someone new through a map than to find all the lanterns on someone that's already done everything in that map. But not if I smack face first into a brick wall that can only be removed by other players. I love grouping up, doing metas, event chains, rifts, etc. However, map completion is for when I'm feeling like moving at my own pace, relaxing, taking in the scenery. This poi blocking really breaks that flow, so I hope it'll be revamped to let the pois be found by hugging the entrance as we've seen in other maps. EG the stuff on the eastern side of Jahai where you don't have to wait for the race, you can go to the doors in the cliff tunnel to get that poi. Edit: I just joined the Lyhr Great Hall event and there indeed is a lantern in there. Bah.
  19. A big reason not to keep giving AA for every task over the cap is that then people feel they "have to" do all the tasks because otherwise they're missing out. This was a prime factor in the original dailies revamp that limited daily credit to 3 tasks. I was a bit surprised to see they give extra AA for doing all five dailies now, because of course unless there's a bugged out mess of a task players are going to feel driven to do all five in order to scrape up that last 10 AA.
  20. Doing rifts is the main way. If you are debating what masteries to get, be advised that the final tier rift mastery *substantially* increases your yield, you'll get two to three times as much. I think I managed to fill a stack in about 45 minutes of just finding rifts on my own (other players inevitably were there as well to speed things up, plus if you check the weekly incursion list and do rifts in those places you get reward boxes of extra Despair). I did it casually, too, veering off to do events and exploration on my way. Also make sure to check the requirements on the wiki, because while you need Despair for a lot of the pieces, you need similar amounts of pinches of stardust.
  21. (sorry for bump, for some reason editing isn't working, won't let me enter text) I did the event again and got credit. I *think* what was going on previously was that due to being attacked I had a kryptis targeted. When I moved within the white circle to get clear space between me and the rift and clicked in the rift's general area before hitting F, my channel proceeded without interruption. If anyone else has had a similar experience, please advise. I hesitate to give incorrect feedback to the wiki but if this is the secret to successful credit in the event it'd be worth a note.
  22. Have you done the previous steps? https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/A_New_Look I did Medicine last night but I happened to do it after doing the two strikes even though it was unlocked. I bought the cauldron from Lyhr first, did the strikes, collected the wurm meats, and now just need to scrounge up my last two mastery points so I can open the greater chests for faster completion. I had definitely finished Growing Comforts -- ahah. You may be thinking this is part of A New Friend, it's not. The Medicine Masker one doesn't show up until you're into the ending parts of A New Look, which unlocks once you finish A New Friend.
  23. I have done this one twice now. The first time I arrived in time to kill a few mobs, then stood in white circles to close the rifts. Second time I was present from the very start of the chain (I spoke to Lezzi to start things up), fought the demons all the way through, and stood in the white circles to channel. And it's still the only event I don't have finished in Nourish Natural. Both times I had trouble keeping my channel going as the mobs set me on fire and that seemed to interrupt me, so possibly I have to be channeling at the moment the rift gets closed in order to get credit, but given how much the mobs swarm and inflict dots it's a pretty harsh requirement if so and will make people prioritize standing where other players block the mobs instead of being helpful. I'm 2 mastery points away from training my final mastery (greater arcane chests) and since I need those to speed up A New Look I'd really like to get this point 😞
  24. The Arcane Cellar was my last poi to do my first map completion of Amnytas. The wiki said I could get it with skyscale shenanigans at the north entrance but didn't say exactly how to combo the skills. I got tossed back on my keister every time I barrel rolled and launched, without the poi triggering. When I went back a few minutes later the entry was open and I just ran on in. This is not a big deal for a first run through. It's fun discovering everything, learning what's easy and hard, feeling accomplished for figuring things out. But. Multiple map completions will be needed to make the legendary armor and even though lantern lighting will help, by the 18th run through blocked pois will become quite annoying. (Unless it turns out you only need to unlock the completions once for the checklist collection instead of once per armor piece, which seems ... unlikely). I wonder if that poi can be triggered by flying under the island? I didn't think to try that, and that poi is way down deep in a cellar so it could be near the underside.
  25. Oh we totally shouldn't need to. Odds are we don't. But it's not 100% certain, so I'll be holding onto mine as they are made. I won't even equip it just yet. I would love for Anet to outright tell us "you only need to make 6 pieces and get collection credit for the 18 skins, the physical armor can safely be worn or salvaged, and you will not need to make all 18 pieces to make all the legendary armor." Unless they do, though, I am playing it very safe. I will make the heavy pieces first since I want the heavy legendary first, then size up making light and medium based on the information available once I'm at that point.
