  1. Ele is only class I have never played due to the perception of complexity. Is there any upside to leveling naturally in terms of learning the class versus boosting to 80 and playing through the story? Which E-Spec is best to unlock first for OW content and story solo? thanks!
  2. Fair enough, like I said just getting into it. Appreciate the feedback
  3. I’m a big fan of playing support classes in pvp type content, have not done much WvW in GW2 but wanting to get into it more. Is there a support class/spec that doesn’t get played enough or makes a big enough difference when present? Zerg mostly at this point.
  4. Decided due to inability to see most mechanics in this game due to the graphic engine I’m going to just focus on WvW and Fractals. Raids and strikes outside of 3/5 were just frustrating. Just not a fan of Guardians, thinking Rev or SoulBeast might be way to go
  5. What is a good OW Bladesworn build to take through EoD story, prefer more tanky/sustain then not. Thanks
  6. I was able to do strikes with DD Staff and minimal rotation and went much better. Although I wasn’t top dps I stayed alive and therefore contributed the entire time. Going to try quick cFB and quick hFB as well. so I’m thinking it’s a combination of easier rotation with some resource management Appreciate all the feedback
  7. Had a similar experience last night in same strike so much effect, item and non-important visual crap could not determine the mechanics at all outside of roman numerals over the head. Just standardize on the mechanics, boss mechanics always over whatever else is on the ground. Make bad stuff red, good stuff green (include colorblind options) and some sort of UI setting to turn off florivorous garbage. MMO 101
  8. What are a couple class/specs that have a simple enough rotation to allow one to then focus on mechanics of strikes/raids instead of the rotation instead? Find I keep having to focus on complicated rotations and die to strike/raid mechanics and given the fact spell and character effects impact mechanics even further because I can’t see the indicators…just tough at times and want to contribute and enjoy the content.
  9. Having just completed the SS Mount, “return to achieves” for LS4 maps was fastest way to get saddle currencies, took me a day.
  10. The stow weapon worked great, thank you

    Stop attack?

Is there a better way to stop attacking an/or healing with Scepter since it seems to just auto target friendlies at time and sometimes even my miniature.
  12. Much appreciated detailed response, will give it a try
  13. March 29 Game Update Preview - Guild Wars 2 Discussion - Guild Wars 2 Forums link for validity Elementalist Catalyst In our previous update, we addressed the fact that the catalyst's pure DPS builds were simultaneously providing 100% quickness uptime for a party while doing among the highest damage output of any specialization in the game. As other boon support builds that provide excellent uptime on critical boons (such as quickness or alacrity) have less damage output than builds focused purely on damage, the catalyst was at risk of supplanting all other quickness providers in group content. We addressed this by making trait and damage output changes quickly to prevent it from distorting the cooperative play meta-game. However, it left the catalyst's damage builds not meeting our goals for the profession; it's difficult to play well and is only dealing competitive damage on large targets or targets where you can stand inside their hitbox. That's not great! We want every profession and specialization to feel awesome, regardless of the size of your enemy. We've prepared a list of changes to specific skills and effects to help reach these goals for PvE play. None of the following changes apply to PvP or WvW. Key Issues Issue 1 Hammer 3's orbiting elemental missiles each give a beneficial passive effect while active, but the skill usage pattern required to upkeep each one is very unforgiving. To address this, the duration of the elemental missiles and their effects in PvE are being increased from 5 seconds to 15 seconds. As before, activating a new one refreshes the timer on all of them. It's not only going to be easier to keep them up all of the time—we're also significantly increasing the passive benefits for having each active so that keeping them all up is a rewarding goal! Rocky Loop and Icy Coil now reduce incoming damage by three times more than they did previously (from 5% up to 15%), while Crescent Wind now gives an increased critical hit chance (formerly 7%, now 10%), and Flame Wheel now increases all of the damage you do (formerly by 5%, now 10%). Issue 2 Too much of the catalyst's damage is reliant on hitting as often as possible with Hammer 3's orbiting elemental missiles. This can make it hard to play consistently against small targets or in situations where you can't walk inside of your target's hitbox. To address this, the damage from Hammer 3's missiles is being dramatically reduced so that the catalyst is not reliant on keeping them inside an enemy's hitbox for effective play. Instead, we've packed all of that removed damage and a lot more into the other things that you're doing while they're up. The hammer is a weighty weapon, and it should feel like it when you're crushing your enemies. All of your Hammer 1 and Hammer 2 skills will now deal more damage per hit. Grand Finale deals a lot more damage per missile now, too, so once you have all your missiles from Hammer 3 out, you're ready to launch an attack worthy of that preparation! Issue 3 The Shattering Ice utility skill is a powerful source of damage, but fully taking advantage of it requires that you hit a target every 0.25 seconds—otherwise you miss out on damage you could have gotten from this skill. To address this, we're increasing the interval on this effect from 0.25 seconds to 1 second, with significantly increased damage. This makes it easier to reliably get the full damage possible out of this utility skill. Catalyst PvE Updates Hammer Singeing Strike: Damage coefficient increased from 0.67 to 0.9 in PvE only. Surging Flames: Damage coefficient increased from 1.5 to 1.8 in PvE only. Stream Strike: Damage coefficient increased from 0.7 to 0.8 in PvE only. Water Rush: Damage coefficient increased from 0.9 to 1.1 in PvE only. Chilling Crack: Damage coefficient increased from 1.2 to 1.4 in PvE only. Rain of Blows: Damage coefficient per strike increased from 0.42 to 0.45 (4 strikes). Wind Slam: Damage coefficient increased from 0.72 to 0.9 in PvE only. Hurricane of Pain: Damage coefficient per strike increased from 0.513 to 0.6 (9 strikes). Stonestrike: Damage coefficient increased from 0.93 to 1.1 in PvE only. Whirling Stones: Damage coefficient per strike increased from 0.51 to 0.65 (5 strikes). Flame Wheel, Icy Coil, Crescent Wind, Rocky Loop: Damage coefficient reduced from 0.1 to 0.001 in PvE only. Rocky Loop: Duration increased from 5 seconds to 15 seconds in PvE only. Damage reduction while active increased from 5% to 15% in PvE only. Crescent Wind: Duration increased from 5 seconds to 15 seconds in PvE only. Critical Chance bonus while active increased from 7% to 10% in PvE only. Icy Coil: Duration increased from 5 seconds to 15 seconds in PvE only. Condition damage reduction while active increased from 5% to 15% in PvE only. Flame Wheel: Duration increased from 5 seconds to 15 seconds in PvE only. Damage and condition damage bonus while active increased from 5% to 10%. Grand Finale: Damage coefficient per missile increased from 0.7 to 1.0 in PvE only. Utilities Shattering Ice: Damage coefficient per strike increased from 0.1 to 0.6 in PvE only. Chill duration increased from 0.5 seconds to 1 second in PvE only. Interval between strikes on the same target increased from 0.25 seconds to 1 second in PvE only. Traits Empowered Empowerment: PvP split removed; effectiveness increase in PvE changed from 50% back to 100%, matching PvP and WvW.
  14. I get the overwhelming disdain for Bladesworn but as a class in PVE doing OW and Strikes is it really that bad? Berzerker still viable etc.?
  15. I made a comment on another thread that I felt Reaper was squishy in OW compared to Harb and was told I probably have the wrong build and/or not playing it correctly. I believe I was using the Power build on Metabattle. Which build and Armor/Wep sets would be ideal for Reaper OW? Condi?
  16. thank you for that post @Daddy.8125 was very well written and on point. I currently have an Engineer and a Necro that I switch between, Machinist is very easy to play and tough as nails in OW, boy I fear the nerf bat with him though and seems to be a mech around every corner these days lol Necro has been fun, mainly playing as Harbinger, found Reaper in OW to be too squishy for my taste. Have not tried Scourge yet. I definitely enjoy playing the classes or builds most do not but at same time not looking to try to force a square peg into a round hole. Mainly play OW, Strikes, light raiding and light Zerg WvW. For Strikes and WvW I prefer support specs for sure and for OW want something sturdy to do content. Engineer Machinist aligns so very well to my criteria but still fear nerf bat. So leaning towards Thief as main in DD and Spectre with Harb support as backup and keep Engineer going and see what comes.
  17. Not to hijack but how are you doing with OW on Spectre? Mechanist is strong but wouldn't expect it to match but always curious
  18. ok thank you, what I was figuring was going to be the answer but thought I would ask.
  19. So given the new EoD E-Specs and changes, which class would you says has the better setup for being able to have a good and valid spec for both PVE OW//Strikes//WvW? I prefer to play a single main character with maybe one backup, just my style. I am NOT interested in Guardian, just not my thing. I do like to play less common classes though but understand that sometimes just doesn't align Which class would be a good candidate for that single main? Engineer, Necro and Rev are what come to mind but what about Mes, War or Thief?
  20. I see a ton more Mechanist now, was in Dragonfall and swear it was 80% of the zone. I play one because it is braindead easy to survive and grind through content (like doing Skyscale with mine) but do fear the nerf bat around it. I know in my guild all the HFB have now brough a Mechanist up to replace or aument.
  21. So can one run Specter in Trailblazer OW just fine or still be squishy?
  22. With medium armor being a sticking point you have two choices Ranger or Engineer, you can rename a Machinist pet FWIW but you have to decide where you are going to bend the rules as obviously you cannot bend the game to your RPG desires. Play Necro and accept cloth, Play Rev and accept heavy armor or pick a medium armor class that best fits.
  23. Not sure you can really do that other than maybe seeing a consolidated story on youtube, especially with EoD, you have to play in order and doesn't unlock chapters for alts like previous content. Plus missing out on things like mastery points and materials etc with each chapter. Obviously play as you want but the system is what it is
  24. Is it safe in this game to main one class? I am not a big fan of alts, just do not have the time and hate repeating content over and over. I currently play a Machinist and it is a wonderful espec for me just fear the nerf bat or a guild all running the same class. What are a few alternatives to machinist that also fill these roles?
