I would recommend playing a spec with more sustain as a new player. Also, I would get into ranked sooner than later, if you are bad (like me) you get put in games full of bads, and that can be a bit easier to deal with.

Being relatively new to this game, I could not agree more. Trying to get into PVP with next to no information available as to what is happening is really rough. This lack of information takes many forms. At first, it was what profession/spec people are (icons only and no coloured health bars). Then it was what just did so much damage to me? I figured out that you could get a summary after dying eventually. But what about the damage I did to kill someone? How can I choose talents when I cannot tell where my damage is coming from (no damage meters work in PVP). Going line by line through a combat log doesn’t cut it. The lack of cast bars is especially rough when you haven’t played each and every spec and are supposed to recognize abilities by animations alone. Lastly, I miss being able to adjust my UI so the ability CDs are more central as I can in other games. GW2 has great PVP and I am enjoying myself, but I still don’t really know what is going on most of the time. The barrier to entry in this game is knowledge and unfortunately, the game does little to help you out with that.

This does look like a lot of fun! Thanks for sharing that. I have been wanting to find a heavy weapons build for guardian. I am new to the game, and after trying out a few profs, guardian seems to feel the best so far. Are there any tips for getting that monster burst I am seeing in that video?
