  1. Same here, looks beautiful and no issues whatsoever ... except the occasional lag.
  2. I run GW2 in windowed mode. I even have Reshade running, all in DX11. For me it really was the small interuptions due to my ISP working on their infrastructure. I still do get the occasional stutter but that's just lag. Sorry to hear you did not get your problem sorted out. Just one thing I was thinking about, I have no idea how memory-hungry GW2 is (as opposed to graphic card-hungry). I have a feeling it's probably the first one, so that might be a thing to check.
  3. Not really sure but I've also experienced this. Maybe not as often as you state, but I've seen it happen. What Friday said above are certainly things you could/should check. But, in my situation, I've got quite the new, beefy PC, I check these things regularly and still see it from time to time. Anyway, long story short, I finally found out. I had these issues because my provider was upgrading the booster equipment used for connecting cables over a longer distance. Were I live, everything is fiber so I have really good speeds. But upgrading the equipment caused microsecond interruptions. Now this is done, I still see it infrequently but that's simply lag, I guess.
  4. Being a rather new player as well. I did a few things: Boosted one character and got the raptor ... convenience; Same boosted character: went into EoD for the skiff (convenience) and the fishing (I always loved fishing in games but not IRL 😜). Left the boosted character and created a new toon and went through the story historically (thanks for LW1 now becoming available again). Made some alts to experience the other professions in order to be able to get a feel of how they play. And also, to be able to play an alt if I got burned out on one or other character. Made characters of different races in order to experience the personal story from different perspectives, also with different choices on how to proceed. Played it like nine times now. And I will probably do this for most - if not all of the content - just to see what I like and find fun. And lastly, I made sure that the combination of all my alts had all the crafting professions covered. I made myself some good exotic gear for a few different builds on my characters. Now, I'm slowly (!) starting to work on ascended gear. TLDR; I'm very casual with mostly limited time to play. But still, I get a sense of 'progression' even if it's horizontal. TBH, I was overwhelmed as well with all the different moneys, build possibilities and whatnot ... when I came back, but - as said many times above - there is no pressure. Masteries are fun but again, not all are necessary for my playstyle. I'm not actively going after upping my mastery number. For me, it's winding down and having fun ... all 'side-effects' being appreciated. Just my 2 cents ... Edit: avoid Wall of Text 😛
  5. I'm sorry to say this, but this looks like an kitten-post. I've only come back to GW2 for a few months (after years) and decided to pick up a new class. Probably (definitely) my build, gear combinations, knowledge of the profession ... whatever aren't there yet but then - I'm only a fresh lvl 80. Content is pretty difficult at times for me. Will get better once I sort the above things out. But - again I'm sorry - useless post (and yes, I did read all the comments which basically say the same as I do).
  6. Read the FF-ing ability descriptions ... some auto-attacks are series and you don't want to break the flow 🙄🙂
  7. I don't want to jump into the same rabbit hole as L2P but what I found after raiding for many many years in games like WoW ... this is a lot more dynamic. Once you get into newer content, it does get more difficult. And, to be honest, at first I felt the same way ... why do I keep on dying on the same boss over and over again ... I try not to stand in the fire. But yeah, some mechanics are a lot more complicated than that. And thank God for YT at times 😛 And, to be honest again, your build is important, but even more important is to learn how to weave your abilities (in combination with a build you like). Once I got that one ironed out (read: got this into my pea-brain 🙂 ), it became a lot more "easy". Long story short -> experiment ...
  8. Just forgot to react on your mount question. Pretty simple, I leveled one character up to 80 with a boost, went through the first "episode" (is it even a complete episode) of Path of Fire to get the Raptor and a few masteries but ... that's it. It is a huge QoL-upgrade though. I still haven't got the other mounts but I'm playing through the story historically and will get them eventually. One thing I also did, was get the gliding from HoT ... also a pretty simple thing to get but also so convenient.
  9. I would definitely agree with that. I returned to the game a few months ago (after several years). I am very casual and was put off by all the comments on why Ele is difficult. I played a Necromancer back in the days so I returned to that. But I was curious about other professions so yeah - I pulled out the credit card and bought a few extra character slots just to be able so see what other professions were about without having to delete too many characters (and I'm a certified altoholic 🤣). Anyway, I went through the typical route (warrior, hunter ... you know what I mean) and finally decided to try out an Elementalist (in a "if I don't like it, I'll delete it"-way). To be honest, a dagger-wielding "magician" was hardly what I was expecting but was pleasantly surprised. I honestly didn't grasp the class at first ... even took me quite a bit of time to understand it. In the beginning Fire was all I used 😉 . Mostly works quite well in open world but quickly falls short even in the personal story, I found. But then the beauty of GW2, read the descriptions of the different abilities, swap weapons before fight/use different weapon combinations and - again - read the descriptions of the different abilities and it suddenly clicked. For me, this is one of the most enjoyable professions to pick up. I only got to 80 very recently so now I will start hunting my elite spec. But at the moment I'm too busy playing LW1 on a sub-optimal spec with exotic gear ... But the fun thing -> it works.
  10. Going for the age-thing 😜 As a 61-year old player, I usually don't struggle (doesn't mean I don't die 🙂 ) once I get to know the mechanics. My biggest problem is usually kicking old habits which don't work in very dynamic battles: you have to move around a lot more to avoid damage instead of soaking up damage, getting out of the way for a big mechanic (don't stand in the fire) and for all the rest rely on the healers. I found that the most difficult thing is to learn your class well and find a good build that suits you ... but then that's a lot of fun TBH and still experimenting.
  11. To be honest, I had the same sentiment ... further content being quite a bit more challenging. But the gist for me was - as stated more than once above ... do some research on your class and get a good build. I play an elementalist and had hardly any clue as why changing attunements was beneficial (the old WoW-thing maybe). Well, I changed that ... learned to effectively switch between attunements. But ... that helped a bit but still kept me at low damage output -> check your build, finetune your build for your playstyle and the difference will be significant. I had pumped everything into vitality and condition damage. But actually, it needs to be a lot more balanced ... And now, if I'm doing some content which keeps killing me, I just go back and see why this happens. The nice thing about GW2 is that e.g. you don't loose your progression on a boss which gives you the opportunity to reflect on what went wrong and adjust. I really love this feature.
  12. I would say, put stuff up late Friday night. Weekends see more players for the obvious reason and also people who might be more inclined to pay higher prices. Simply because they want to "advance" their character and just cannot put in the time. I know I'm one 😜
  13. To be honest, I'm still running a Nvidea 1080 TI (OK, was really high-end at the time), skipped the 2-series and the 3-series are stupidly costly. But to answer your question, I played through LW1 today and still have more than decent framerates (somewhere around 100-120 FPS) and I'm playing on maxed out settings. And I'm also running Reshade, which cut off like 20 FPS I also have a 3-year old CPU (Intel core I7, 8700K overclocked) and 32 Gb of fast memory. I don't know how CPU-hungry GW2 is, but it seems to me that it's a combination of things. Forgot to mention, GW2 is also installed on a M.2-drive. As I said, combination of stuff? Just my humble thoughts
  14. Was just wondering, long time no-player returned to the game only a short time ago. I did what most people do, get into PoF to get the base raptor mount, just as a QoL-feature and then played the first bit of EoD to check out/get the fishing and the skiff. Sorry if I'm braindead - might be because I just celebrated my 16th birthday ... oh wait, might be the other way around 😜 - ah well.. Anyway, I love the fishing but I'm a bit flustered on how to get baits. Is there any way to craft them or do I need to get back to Canthan to buy them. I would not like to spoil my 'historical' playthrough going from personal story to LW and so on? And also - please - don't redirect me to the Wiki. Very informative but does not connect the dots. Thanks a bunch 🙂
  15. Etiquette, for me is saying out in the Open ... Thank you!!! Personally, I think this is a brilliant game mechanic and I've several times had random people "rescuing" me from certain death ... brilliant again 🙂 Maybe this type of mechanic brings people more together on a subconcious level 😜 I think it's a really positive way of making a communtiy adhere ... DEVs, analysts ... whoever thought of implementing this, gets a tremendous KUDOS. And oh, WoW-refugee who now has a hard time believing/understanding why he left GW 1/2 to play something else. TL:DR ... got back into the game and simply loving it ... This game has so much relevance ...
  16. Sorry to burst your bubble but the problem is that the Turkish Lira isn't doing very well. It has been deprecated in value several times the last few years. Switching to TRL would simply mean that they would up the price as compared to EUR or USD. This won't solve your problem of things being expensive ...
  17. Inspiring stories, thanks to all for sharing. I'm not suffering from any medical condition but just being old (62) 🙂 I also started in GW and went to GW2, pretty much the same story. I was already working at the time (age difference X2 😉 ) so I did not have the 'money problems'. To be honest, I was playing WoW 'full time' back then, raiding, Guild leading, you name it ... done it all. But I was getting a bit bored/burned out at the time. Now, I've always loved video games, have always been completely fascinated so I was always looking out for the next best thing. And - at that time - GW and GW2 did it for me - really good looking games. I was oftenly amazed and just looked around to take in the views. But, in the end, I wasn't caught up in the story, lore, mechanics, .... and so I returned to WoW ... for some time. Then I got really burned out, it started to get like a job ... which I already had and was/is pretty demanding. That was quite some time ago. I bought the WoW expansions, played a character through them till level cap ... and that was it. This was going on till some time ago when I saw a YT-vid about GW2 and I immediately felt I had to try this again. You know what, I'm hooked. This game still looks incredible, has some of the best world designs out there and is - pretty important for me - a very casual friendly environment. So yeah, nice job DEV-team and I would say thanks for catering for the people above! I'm truly enjoying the game and still have a lot(!) to discover 🙂 EDIT: oh, and I forgot ... a really nice community as well (even more important than a game looking well).
  18. As a returning player ... as from the day it was released ... GW2 didn't grab me so I went back the WoW-way. It was slicker, well thought out, was the game for me. Now, all these years later ... having raided, dungeon-crawled, grinded out (useless) stuff, reputations and whatnot, I couldn't get into WoW again. Although I like most of the lore, some personal favourite characters (Sylvanas 😉 ), I felt it was enough. So I played some New World but felt 'cheated' due to the bugs, toxic community and so on. So I went looking for something to sink my limited game time in and decided to go back to GW2 as I found out it was still shining brightly and even had a new expansion on the near horizon. Long story short, I decided to get back in. In all honesty, this was refreshing! It catered to everything of my very casual playstyle, a non-obtrusive gem store, interesting crafting, a lot of mechanics to learn again and TL;DR: the personal story. I made a lot of alts to go through all the different stories for the races and I've enjoyed it a lot. What I do like, is that they give you choices so that the story plays out differently based on your choice. So yeah, I'm enjoying this. The one thing I don't like (and it's more tongue in cheek), is the drinking game before you break out Demmi. It took me ages to get the hang of this but now - as a beer loving Belgian - I smash it. Anyway, it gets a bit repetitive in the end but making different choices, doing it on different races with different professions, makes it enjoyable. Did I think things were difficult at times? Yes, I died a number of times but the system of getting back at the stage where you died, made this pretty easy.
  19. To be honest, I experience the same thing as well. Difficult to get a party together for older content. Also, I'm very casual and mostly solo due to time restrictions and odd playing hours. I'm a returning player and having a lot of fun. And still have more than enough things to do outside of group content. But yeah, once in a while there's some content that I would like to do but can't get a group for. Now usually, world events, bosses and so on aren't that much of a problem. For most of these events enough people show up. But getting a group for dungeons can be difficult. The Heroes system, I do like it ... in the end - when playing through the personal story e.g. - you have a kind of hero crowd. Would I make this a system to be integrated? Not sure about that. I would rather have the possibility to select - whenever I'm about to enter a dungeon - to be able to select solo or group. Rewards should scale up whenever you're in a group but if you want to be able to experience the story, it should be soloable. One big thing though, I wouldn't allow this for new content, only after a while (not sure how long a 'while' should be 🙂 ). But as a returning/new player I would like to be able to experience the full HoT-expansion e.g. as this is - what 5, 6 years old. Just my thoughts. P.S.: I know and understand the concept of an MMO 😉, I'm not 'afraid' of playing with other people in a group context or join a 'guild'. But due to time restrictions, I do not want to join a group of players as I cannot invest the time needed to keep the social glue sticking. EDIT: typos and crummy sentences ...
