  1. I was talking about playing another game entirely, but setting that aside, I would argue the rewards are what would stop someone from doing other things. I've played enough meta events to know often times the rewards feel arbitrary (a lot of armor I don't need, and a lot of unidentified gear). Maybe it's just because of the way I play, as I have nine alts, but most of the time I feel paralyzed by the glut of options. There are so many legendaries and ascended gear, and so many different currencies, that I have no idea where to start. As such, for a while now my mats have just been piling up in storage and the bank. I'm no new player, but this is a problem a lot of new players will have when starting an MMO as old as this one. At any rate, that has nothing to do with the Skyscale. Most people set one goal for themselves at a time, as setting multiple goals can be overwhelming and cause you to give up early, especially if they're long-term goals. If someone sets the Skyscale as a goal, why shouldn't they be allowed to focus on that goal? If I want to get swoll, I'm allowed to determine how often I go to the gym without much of a time-gate. I say much of one because gyms obviously have closing times, but they usually only occur while most people are getting ready for bed. Even so, you still have the option to make your own home gym and work out on your own time. Even full-time jobs don't hold you back this much, as you can still change your work schedule around or go part time if you want. The only real time gate for a workout is your own body, but that feels like sophistry.
  2. I'd like the monetary value of the enemies to be better balanced, even if it means nerfing the gold you gain from other sources a little. Killing a world boss or bounty target in this game, only to get 80 copper of 1.5 silver never feels good. However, I do like that my wallet never feels bloated; I never have more money than I can spend. Then again, that's mainly because I don't own every legendary or ascended like some people probably do.
  3. Really? I haven't finished the EoD story yet, but I don't recall him showing up before that. If anything, from what I remember of the HoT story, he was a vegetable after that whole fiasco; Zojja was at least cognitive. If anyone disappeared it should have been Thackery.
  4. Meta events aren't a personal thing; meta events require a large group of people, so time gating them is almost a necessity. Time gated vendors and material farms are just the foundation of the problem with Skyscale. Also, most of the time, you don't want to push people to other games while they wait for that time gate to reset. Often times, they might just decide they'd prefer to play whatever else they're playing rather than your game.
  5. I won't lean on one side or the other of this fence, but I will say it's funny to see this post. I remember when this game first launched, it was praised for its innovative spirit. The heart system in place of quests, the skills being tied to your weapon, and the reactive dodging were all considered new and fresh back then.
  6. Oh I will, as soon as I get a satisfactory answer as to why she's gone, or at least a, "retirement" arc. It's called good story telling. I don't even like Logan that much, yet I still want a reason for his absence too.
  7. Why is it I haven't seen or heard from Zojja in... gods know how long? Joon only serves to remind me that Zojja is still out there.
  8. I actually don't mind the number of steps in each collection, but I do mind the timegate. It takes agency away from me; it prevents me from choosing how I want to spend my time. Well, that's not entirely true, as you can still choose to play something else. It's honestly not even necessary, as I'm fairly certain the average person (the casuals, like me) wouldn't just blitz through the whole thing in an afternoon.
  9. I don't see the big deal considering it's limited to the story instance. I remember being mildly disappointed when Kasmeer cast the illusion for Icebrood Saga and it didn't change my appearance. It sounds like people have grown a little too vain.
  10. We know skritt intelligence increases exponentially proportional to the number of them in a group. I'm curious to see how far that concept can be taken. It's silly, but very interesting. With enough of them grouped together, would they surpass the Asura? Could they create their own civilization far more advanced than anything Tyria has seen before?
  11. Actually, I am using Reversal. Is it really that simple? As for kiting, doesn't that require ranged weaponry? I'm not even good with Reversal. I just use it because it came with the e-spec, and I like using the skills the spec came with. I assume there's some exponent or coefficient that's lower for the Willbender/Guardian when it comes to vitality scaling. My vitality is about 175 less on my Willbender than my Bladesworn, yet my Bladesworn has about 8000 more health. The Bladesworn also seems to take a hit better, but that may be because I'm using the defense tree.
  12. I think they just weren't paying attention... If this is what constitutes a cesspool, then our standards must have jumped up since yesterday.
  13. That would certainly be an improvement for group content. Most of the time I have to run in, place a trap down, then quickly dodge backwards to keep myself out of enemy range. The only time I can place a trap down and have an enemy stumble into it, as one would expect a trap to work, is in a story mission or open world content (Renown Hearts).
  14. I thought I could get away with building for vitality more than toughness, but I guess I was wrong. It's odd, because I built the Willbender similar to if not the same as my Bladesworn (mostly Marauder stats) and my Bladesworn rarely gets downed, whereas I can't seem to last more than a few second under fire with the Willbender. Maybe I'm suppose to rely on blocks and dodges?
  15. I'm a story person, so I actually listen to the dialogue, at least initially, to get a grasp of what's going on. However, I usually skip dialogue I've heard before, or dialogue I'm not interested in. The first quest (Ankha kidnapping Gorrik) has this whole air of love triangle-jealousy-gossip thing about it, and I wanted more than anything to skip right through that, even when it was new to me. I'm not one for love story stuff. Also, I wouldn't complain if there was less voice acting. From what I've heard, paying voice actors is expensive, and that money could be put to better use. I've played many games in the past and present that had little to no voice acting. Most of the time, I enjoy those games.
  16. Doesn't mean they can't try something different, which I assume they were going to do before people asked for it to be like the Engineer's elixirs.
  17. Ah, that explains plenty. Thanks, mate. I assumed there would be some lore behind it, but this is more than enough of an explanation
  18. Ryland and Braham both took on a more ice and magma aesthetic respectively. Why is it we don't grow crystals out our head or something?
  19. Really? But why would anyone want the Harbinger to be like the Engineer? Why not give the Harbinger something different to play with? I suppose I would have expected one potion to throw at the enemy, but not all of them.
  20. I'm not too broken up about the lack of a drinking animation, but I was expecting one. I'm fairly certain the reveal trailer for the Harbinger showed the character drinking an elixir, but also tossing the empty bottle aside. I assume the tossing of the elixir at your enemy was something they came up with after the trailer was ready to go.
  21. You and me both. I was expecting the hat to be the armor piece you unlock for maxing out the spec. The gloves aren't even in the concept art. The bandages look kind of nice though.
  22. In Living World S4 Caithe performed some kind of mind meld with Aurene. Initially I thought she was to be Aurene's connection to the world, considering Aurene couldn't speak until fusing with Caithe (speaking through Caithe). After she broke out of the crystal branding, she began to speak directly. I don't know why she suddenly understood the Tyrian language, but doesn't this defeat the purpose of the mind meld? Also, it only lasted one chapter.
  23. I see. Looking over the wiki again, I seem to have latched onto the first source I saw, that being the jumping puzzle. That certainly explains a lot. Thanks to both of you for the info.
  24. Wow, that just makes it's current price even more surprising. I assumed it was so cheap because you can easily cheese the whole thing with mounts and it was a guaranteed drop. Was it always so cheap? I can't imagine people going through the puzzle before mounts were available, only to sell it for 1-2 gold.
  25. The dark-blue sword with the blue flames. I just completed the Troll's Revenge jumping puzzle, as the wiki stated it was in one of the hidden stashes. However, I only got some unidentified gear. Do I have to try again after the daily reset?
