The EU is also going down this rabbit hole. Gambling is an addiction, and in many places it has adverse effects on the general population. Not everyone can "gamble responsibly". In Australia there are people who pump their entire week's paychecks into poker machines before thinking about feeding their families.

Yeah the T6 price is a bit of a rude shock if you haven't crafted legendary items before. The legendary weapon box is a nice start but many players will still struggle to finish it.

When you abandon obsidian armor crafting, basically none of the rewards in soto matter. All junk materials that clog your bank. 50 ectos to make amalgamated kryptis essence? Hah. Easier to delete essences and not deal with inflated ecto prices.

The intent is to get your feet wet on the crafting process, not give you a free legendary weapon. Afterall if you don't learn the process, how can you hope to craft a legendary item. Gifts of Might/Magic are not equal value on the tp. Currently there is about 135 gold difference. Quite a lot to a newer player (0-500 hours), but not that much when it comes to legendary crafting. Based on the statistics on gw2 efficiency, only 1% of newer players (0-500 hours) have a legendary item.
