Cheap Character Deaths in SotO (Spoilers)
cloudsareyum.8120 replied to Poormany.4507's topic in Lore
I hated Mabons death. It felt like such a waste of potential good storytelling only to kill someone arbitrary off -_- -
With my mages it's because magic spells can't be cast that fast and with melee it's fatigue

I'm clueless and come from pvp so I was hoping some wvw vet would elucidate some stuff for me. So in pvp you get credit for participating. But in wvw it seems like you lose participation for defense (unless you kill an opponent, a lot of stuff doesn't seem to count), fighting ( unless you kill an opponent. damage and dueling does not count), upgrading siege on newly leveled up towers/keeps, any underdog stuff whatsoever Since I'm clueless so is this like basically they want 0 defense flips all the time? Battles must be ones that are even or winning? Why is the fighting zerg that loses punished so hard? I'm sure it's a game design thing but can someone explain what the intention is here or what they know? Are you not meant to defend or scout? So confused. What is best for roamer players to do when there is no zerg or the zerg is being out fought? Thanks - a know nothing about wvw

Guild wars 3

I'm not going to worry until it happens. They need to keep the shareholders interested and the shareholders may not understand what a money farm gw2 is because it's "just another ncsoft game to them" I do worry about ncsoft making stupid decisions because I played some of their previous mmos and they have a history of shutting down games and sabotaging good things. But since they bought arena net in 2002 and gw been going strong so Ig I shouldn't be that worried but I dont trust them to make stupid decisions that lose money because they don't value the western market (like shutting down gw2 even with a willing paying playerbase) But I'm disinterested. I'm sticking with gw2. New game fatigue and I have other things to play if I want to start from scratch -

Nah. New game fatigue and I'm interested in the demon arc. I don't want to start from scratch and am still working on stuff in this game. I don't think even major feature update could make me move lol -

Ok maybe goggles isn't the best suggestion. - Invisible walls over random rocks should be done away with - instead of walls give us a landable ceiling or something. It doesn't have to be perfect but it's a lot more polished an immersive than invisible walls. There is no reason I shouldn't be able to fly over skrittsburgh or the thing in the middle of dredgehaunt or caves and random rocks in the middle of the map - instead of kill zones (forcible dismount) over jumping puzzles (like the gendarran fields SE one) that kill anyone flying at speed over it, make a status/buff applied only in the entrance of the JP that is required to open the JP chest (it could be called the key for all I care) that will clear on mount. A more elegant solution that doesn't kill players or interrupt flight path and break immersion 🙂 -

It's so that experienced players have a reason to visit starting zones and mix with newbies. Gw2 is designed so that it's not level by level zone, all zones are visited by all players. Even as an experienced player I am often hanging out in starting zones. -
Does anyone have a map of invisible walls?
cloudsareyum.8120 replied to cloudsareyum.8120's topic in Guild Wars 2 Discussion
Thank you. I don't really have issues with the ones around the border edge of the map, it's the mid map ones in the sky that keep getting me. I'm not sure how I'm to judge untraversable cliffs while flying lol. I'm amazed you don't seem to run into them. What do you mean by untraversable and how can I tell it's supposed to be so while flying in the air? Do you have any tips for what counts as untraversable terrain I should avoid? Q Most recent invisible wall smacking- Elon River lands - the big circular rock ne of the words deadlock sweep. For no apparent reason I can't land on it. It is not on the edge of the map. No jp or cave I know of around there Jahai Cliffs - So I was trying to fly south thru jahai from the reclaimed chantry wp directly to fortress of jahai. Can't fly over the rocks, it needed me to pass under the gate stead of straight lining it lol. They made the cliff on top unlandable (SE of the wp) and had to go low and search for where I was supposed to go The ones with better indicators but are smack in the middle of the map and you will either die or be shocked if you don't pay attention to the secret caves and jumping puzzle locations: (which is terrible. ) Dredge haunt cliffs- Dostoev Sky Peak smack dab in the middle of the map. I understand they were protecting the cave but it is a shock to be flying and smack into that wall Brisban wildlands- attempt to fly over skrittsburgh going directly west or nw from zinder slope/caledon entrance will run smack into a wall. Metrica Province- you may not fly over the anthill kill zones- The infamous forcible demount mount zone over gendarran fields SE that has claimed many a flier's lives. It's pretty hard to stop in time before it forcibly demounts you if you're in the wrong place and especially the wrong mount I'm aware some of these - though not the ones I mentioned in the desert- are to protect unfinished assets in caves and jumping puzzles. But for caves couldn't they just make a general landable ceiling above it with short walls instead of walls in the airspace above? The unfinished assets look cool anyway if it's about the skybox. For jumping puzzles I don't think it's bad for the game for people to be able to do it easy cheat way with mounts but if the devs want to make it no shortcuts or cheats, I feel like it would be effective to just put a zone at the entrance of the jp that applies a status (it could be called key to the chest or sth) that gets removed if the player mounts at any point and that status must be applied to open the chest. Since the player must pass thru the entrance you can't cheat by shortcuts, and since the status will be gone on mount you can't cheat with mount. They would just need to make the status and zone for one puzzle and then could apply it to the others and it would be so much more polished than invisible walls jutting up randomly in the sky or zones that will kill you if you're flying too fast in the wrong place. The kill zone is a zone with a Boolean check for mount, and there are already mechanisms and bosses that require a status, I don't see why it would be so much more work than kill zones and invisible walls? Well regardless of my protests I just am wondering if someone has an idea. Like I guess if I pay attention I can avoid the caves but I don't have all the secret jp locations marked on the map until it's too late and I'm either smacked into a wall or dead from forcible dismount and there's no rhyme nor reason for the desert ones. Please tell me your secrets of how to notice the untraversable cliffs, I beg 😅 -

I will take a toggleable magic goggle ability where in universe invisible walls are remnants of something (aether blade waste? Edge of dangerous leyline energy or magic invisible to the naked eye? Wizard shenanigans?) lorewise as long as I can see the invisible walls that encroach onto typically flyable airspace as a toggleable thing on the map (with the goggles, it could be a thing only once flying mounts are unlocked) so can stop running into them, knowing that there is a wall at this elevation or something. Just something less immersion breaking and less of a pain to navigate, if you must invisible wall everything. I define typically flyable airspace as anything not at the border of a zone that a player can reasonably expect should be able to fly over. Stuff like surfaces that you can't land on, to be marked. The view is pretty from up high. (Or you could just adjust the invisible walls to not as interfering or set up a thread we can reply about the most intrusive areas and fix those. It's probably not Most walls that are bad just like a few really intrusive ones in areas that one visits quite a lot. ) -
Disclaimer: I want all zones to be mounted so I'm willing to pay the price of invisible walls if necessary 😕 That said, I'm sick of going south to my destination only to smack into a wall and have to puzzle out the way I'm "supposed" to go. If anyone has any hints making navigating less frustrating or a map of where the invisible walls are so I can stop smacking into them in the middle of the map I'd be super grateful. Flying is the way I like to navigate because it's relaxing and I have to step away from the computer a lot

Can you make invisible walls less intrusive... Or is there a way to see where they are from the skies so don't keep smacking into them in the middle of the zone? They're often over caves and things that one should be able to fly over I want to be able to fly everywhere and if it's a necessary price to pay to fly everywhere pay it (mounts every zone yes) but it's very immersion breaking to smack into an invisible wall into a middle of a zone or be unable to land on a high place for no apparent reason. (I'd rather see unpolished stuff than smack into things lol) Also forcible dismount zones are kill zones and really need to be done away with. Ex jahai bluffs, dredegaunt cliffs, brisban wildlands, gendarran fields, metrica province -
Chat window opens during combat
cloudsareyum.8120 replied to Manstrup.6854's topic in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website
If you click on the chat window it will activate the chat. You can select for the chat to be hidden as well as removing the key binds like enter, will that help any? I've had this issue before in combat. If you have difficulty with your mouse clicking on UI elements in combat it can be easier to use action camera 🙂 another clue can be if your mouse is going kind of wild, maybe something with mouse sensitivity?. I'm not entirely sure how to fix it (beyond there is a searchable way) but it is possible if your mouse is wildly moving here and there to click accidentally on ui like the chat box best of luck -
I also crashed. I crashed at the beginning of the game, it was either right when the game 'started' or right before (I think it was right before.). Everyone readyed up, I was the second to last to do so and the last person didn't select ready at all. We had a little time. When I crashed I was trying to do some skills pre match when the game froze. I tried to press buttons, notning. In the end I quit out and tried to restart the game. It took me three tries to get back in and by the time I returned the game was 3/4 over. During the three tries it didn't do anything after the login screen. I'm pretty sure it crashed right when the announcer said the game begins and the gates opened I was on an elementalist weaver and doing a few sword/war horn/utility skills. I may have been doing them fast and I'm not sure if that contributed. I think I was on wind. 12358, I definitely used stone resonance. I did do a pvp match earlier in the day and I did not crash. I have also got dishonor presumably for crashing? Or maybe not explaining what happened in chat idk
