  1. I'm glad that they tried to fix it quiet fast and the changes are really a benefit, compared to the nerfed one. Still, compared to other professions and how hard it still is to make a proper rotation, the dmg output (~39.2k outside of hitbox) is to low. They really should now adjust the dmg, that catalyst does at least 40.0 k regarding the playability of the profession. Besides, a useful suggestion even for the quickalyst would be to make the sphere fields movable around the catalyst, so its not "flushing" a field with one shot, but rather "spreading" the field contiously for the duration around the catalyst. Makes it more reliable for bosses, moving a lot (e.g. new eod strikes)

  3. I'm really curious about the outcome. Pure Ele dps shall be at higher spots again and I will really foresee how they manage to exclude the quickness ability. Seems that they are reading the threads. But it bothers me how long it will takes for the glory patch to come alive
  4. This is something i want to add, too. It's not like, I hate this game or whatever 😄 enjoying that game since release and they really really have done a good work on EoD so far. Yet, a couple of reactions on some professions are way to fast and not sophisticated, like in my dear ele's place. One advantage is, that our community is bar far not that toxic as in other fields, so i really hope they reconsider what they've done with catalyst and boost it again and see what suggestions for improvement are here to read. Because no matter how good the game is, that patch notes left me alone with my mouth wide open. However, I really like the amount of memes which are approaching at this case :D. At first, i wanted to add (like in the main discussion thread) that regardless all the hate of the changes people are still willing to give constructive suggestions and don't tend into a whole shitstorm show i really appreciate that, though i can really understand it (you had to watch me during yesterdays raid... poor guild mates :/) And i can totally relate to Raul's comment beneath his updated 33.5k DPS Video, that it was not taken into account how playable the former numbers are actually in real encounters besides i was not the biggest fan to begin with, the challenge was there tbh i don't know how to reach the devs and how they get their results from the community after the beta events it seemed that they were listening to us, but according to what happenend now is unbelievable the thing what also sticks oil into the fire is, that several other professions (e.g. specter) still performing tons of dps regarding their playstyle
  6. I feel you, bro o/ According to the main discussion thread, many players have the same idea of how to split the catalyst and quickalyst, really hope (only thing we can do) that anet sees the problematic and maybe the solution and give power catalyst a proper comeback.

Hi everybody, i think many people will read the same stuff, for tons of comments, but since this is a thread to discuss and give feedback i wanna share my feelings too: Since yesterday's patch (15th of march) I can't really understand how the balancing act of the catalyst went so far. I truly understand the issue that providing quickness by making ~38k dps (former quickalyst build) is compared to other sharing specs (harbringer and quickbrand) to high. On the other side, this spec is compared to the other ones really hard to play and loses a high amount of dps only by not standing in the middle of the hit box. I really liked the idea of the catalyst and to see what you have to do to achieve the 43k (small hitbox, pure power dps) really intends me to challenge that (special thanks to Raul from snowcrows who really makes super ncie videos). And that you got high dps for big effort. And to be short, that's something I'm missing (by still seeing how much dps other professions are doing). In my opinion they shall just change the boon giving idea of the sphere and put in a separate trait (or reduce the boon prog to once (1s e.g.) when using the sphere. The 15s cooldown is kitten high, too, but something i could be fine with. But reducing all the dmg modifier really knocked out the full dps rotation, and i would be (but that will probably not happen) happy, if they give modifiers back. They also could change the empowered empowerement trait so that they only boost dmg modifiers (prec, power, felocity, cnd dmg etc,.) without boosting concentration etc. Then you could rework the other trait (sphere specialist) in a way, that you HAVE TO use it, otherwise catalyst cant maintain the quickness, and loses throw this trait the tons of dps (and can be around 34, 35k). In the end, first time of life, I'm doing forum posts, am really disappointed, because catalyst was really not an easy profession to play, and i bet the overall dps of most of the players who are not the craziest elementalists player are not even able to get burst dps (first 20% of the golem) of more than 40k. So my recommendation would be at this place, to increase the modifiers back to how there where before the patch, but try to cut out the quickness maintainance to another tried, which make it obligate to play quickalyst.   8. Thank all of you for your comments and continue discussing if you want! I mean look at the new snowcrow's "guide" of catalyst with literally one comment ... benchmark down to 33k... There was really no reason to knock it off that much ... besides there are so many other professions which are still so strong ... I really really hope that they see what they did here and that they buff it again, otherwise it is completely useless But even if they do, I really really doubt our wishes will come true 😄 and that the benchmark is again on the top ... All the days on the golem and crafting the hammer and spending gold in it, completely wasted ... Besides finding it good to align the dmg output of several classes, so there is "no superior" profession, they really should give hard playing and training players the reward in getting good benchmark (like it was before the nerf). I will try to stay strong with my ele, but going back to weaver really leaves back a scar on me.
  9. yeah thats the thing, and before the patch i really didnt look at the quickalyst for me it was a challenge, to get this build played into raid contents, which is, as you said, very hard, but worth it now i dont even have the option, to do so 😄
  10. thats also true, i just hope they will be kinda reajustement, because to be honest, i really liked playing the hammer ele, and i was close to the benchmark again ... seems to go back to weaver i think there are plenty of methods to get it back to top without giving quickness e.g.

The thing is, even with all the previous buffs, one little mistake and you get maybe 37k on the first burst 😄 e.g. holo simply outdpses that with no effort, best solution would be to do several traits in the last tree-line one for dps and one for giving quickness and maybe remove concentration or from the empowerement trait or "just" increase the dps modifying stats 🤔
  12. Hello guys, i'm usually not the type of guy who is posting long forum posts or comments, but today's patch really let my mouth wide openend. And i think I'm not the only one. It's about the update of the catalyst profession: Elementalist Catalyst has landed strong in group content and currently has damage-dealing potential that is higher than intended when compared against other professions. We've realized that we made a mistake with the specific durations of quickness in the catalyst's kit, as our other professions require a damage tradeoff in trait selection to bring a strong boon support role while the catalyst currently does not, leading to the catalyst dealing about a third more damage than other quickness support options. With this patch, we're tuning the catalyst to parity with other professions in damage and setting up Sphere Specialist as a strong trait choice to enable boon support builds in PvE. Catalyst Deploy Jade Sphere: Cooldown increased from 5 seconds to 15 seconds in PvE, matching PvP and WvW. Shattering Ice: Damage coefficient reduced from 0.3 to 0.15 in PvE only. Relentless Fire: Damage bonus reduced from 15% to 10% in PvE only. Empowered Empowerment: Elemental Empowerment effectiveness increase changed from 100% to 50% in PvE only. Sphere Specialist: Raised the base duration increase of Jade Sphere boons from 20% to 100% in PvE only. I mean, first of all, i can understand, that nerving the a quickness giving class in dps is very important, then the dmg is far overpowered. But that doesn't really mean you have to complete knock the profession out due to nothingless. There were several more option to split the full dps part from the quickness one. As for me, i play ele for a long time, and it is not the easiest profession to learn, also regarding the survivability. And now with the catalyst i really enjoyed it again to spend time on the golem to get results over 40k, which is indeed really hard and needs a lot of practice. The point is, why did they nerf it thaaat hard, why is so bad to have an actually top dps profession which is only able to do that amount of dmg when you really really understand what you're doing. Just try to split the quickness option within the traits "Sphere Specialist" and "Empowered Empowerement". Actually, i don't know what else to write, but the punch in the ele's face over again really hit me hard again, since other professions weren't nerved that far. Just wanted to share my feelings about this, nothing more, without any shitstorm or whatever. Dunno of others are feeling as well or have own suggestions. So far, see you guys o/
