  1. Right now the runes cost 2g or less apart from Scholars 3g. That's why monetary arguments are a bit silly, it was never "worth it" for this to begin with.
  2. You only got a weapon if you had excess of the armory, so for example if you had 5 legendary axes, you received 1 free box. As most legendaries cost roughly the same, in a way it could be seen as un-accountbounding the exceeding weapons. If you had excess armor or runes/sigils, you could just chose from those and in the case of armor, just got "a new skin" if you already had the three weight sets. The issue here is that you crafted something that is of no use for you, so you got a little bit back, some would argue not enough. With this update you are not losing the "functionality" of legendary runes. You are not running without runes now because the set bonus is removed, do you? You still need runes for your builds, probably even more variety then before. Yes, runes on the whole get a bit worse, but the functionality of legendary runes stays exactly the same. I would have been fine without a compansation really, but alas we all get something, hooray! You can ask for a legendary relic all you want, but that is just way better in functionality than what we lose and out of scope of previous "compensations", so don't get your hopes up.
  3. You are massively overvalueing the "loss" of the set bonus. Scholar Runes are best in slot because of the stat distribution (+ 225 Ferocity is massive and very rare for Runes, Scholar is the only one paired with Power) with the set bonus being a nice cherry on top. Apart from Scholars tho, there are like 2 Runes currently in use where the set bonus is actually somewhat important, on the rest this change loses next to nothing while providing much more potential with the Relics. Maybe Anet should have nerfed the handful of "problematic" Runes in the first place
  4. You have no idea what "gear threadmill" means. The amount of players with legendary armor or runes is very slim, the rest has to craft/buy/gRiNd for new gear whenever there is another balance patch and you want to stay as optimized as it gets. I think we (as in currently fully legendary) will manage to do the same with just one equipment slot lmao Don't even have to go that far as apparantly (and what I was hinting at with my comment) simply the addition of another Equipment slot without having a legendary variant is grounds for pitchforks: Nope, it is devalueing some Runes while making others better. The usecase for Legendary Runes stays the same tho.
  5. As Legendary Runes are not decommissioned and will still have a great usage as explained in my earlier posts, so you should not be upset.
  6. Six Legendary Runes cost roughly the same as one Legendary Weapon. I agree Provisioner's Tokens were a bit of a unnecessary timegate, but other than having to wait, it was not that of a big deal. I am currently fully legendary on my main (appart from the WvW ring). Should I demand two free legendary pistols because that is what guardians get in the future and then I am no longer "free from balance changes" and "have to grind for gear" again? Suppose Anet adds a new Socks slot without giving you Legendary Socks, will you all be mad again?
  7. If there are many different Relics that try to emulate the stuff we already have, I guess the perfect solution to apease the "but my set bonus" crowd would be to give Legendary Runes the following effect: "While you have an empty Relic slot and six Legendary Runes all set to the same Rune, gain the effect of the assosiated Relic". That way you will still get the set bonus exactly as before but not be able to freely swap the Relic like a Legendary Relic would allow (and what would probably be best for most builds). Sure, some Runes will have a different set bonus compared to now, but that would have happened with any Rune overhaul and does not effect the value of Legendary Runes.
  8. Then please go ahead and explain the purpose you created them for, that is now no longer fulfilled.
  9. Legendary Runes are only devalued if the number of useful/used Runes are reduced and I am not the only one to have recogniced this, for example a few posts above: Which is exactly the situation in my supposition but as outlined earlier not the case in this new Runes + Relic system.
  10. Just because it is different does not mean it is inherently worse. You didn't use Legendary Runes because you wanted to swap from Runes of the Scholar to Deadeye, so the quote is simply not true. On the vast majority of Runes, the set bonus is not worth talking about. It also doesn't really matter what they do with the duplicates, if they add more stat variety or merge them to one, we will still have 69-99 different Runes after the update, if this is all they are doing to them. The only usecase of Legendary Runes is the QoL of not having to have multiple sets of Runes stored somewhere and as the number of useful Runes might increase as I pointed out, this might make Legendary Runes better than they currently are. Lets imagine Anet added a new Condition Damage Rune in EoD that is slightly superior to Krait, Nightmare etc and now all Condi DPS builds on SnowCrows use this Rune. I doubt there would have been even a fraction of this shitstorm even though that would have actually devalued Legendary Runes tremendously.
  11. Correct there won't be a set bonuses, but the 6. Rune will still obviously provide something. Runes of the Scholar currently gives you Ferocity on the 6. slot, so I guess this will stay the same. The similar Runes can then provide Power, Precision or something else on the 6. slot. Read what I wrote please or I won't engage with your comments anymore. There are many builds currently in use where the set bonus of the Runes is negligible, so you will still use those after the update. Also not all Power builds used Scholar and now you have the potential to use other Runes better suitable to your build, while keeping the Scholar Buff through Relics. The same is true with Heal builds. "1, 2 at most" is just so far from the truth, it is not even hyperbolic anymore, just simply misunderstanding the current and future system.
  12. Scholar is expensive because it is best in slot for many builds. Take the set bonus away and you will still have one Rune that is best in slot and therefore will be sought after the most. Reminds me of that time when SnowCrows listed Sigils of Centaur Slaying as one of many options to get the +3% Strike Damage, they increases to 1g+ on the TP while all the other Slaying Sigils stayed as low as always lol. Also why would Anet make the new 6. bonus the same on all the similar Runes, that makes no sense and is a bad faith argument. But it is besides the point. I haven't talked about the monetary value, there is no point in this because the cost of full Legendary Runes is far greater than the combined cost of all the Runes you would ever need. I talked about the value of the ability to swap to any Rune, while now you are using like at most 10 different Runes in your builds, this may change in the future and therefore make this ability a creater value of Legendary Runes
  13. The new Runes + Relics are a way better system then the old Runes. Out of the 99 existing Runes, ~69 have a unique stat distribution when you simply ignore the 6th bonus, still more then enough options to warrant a Legendary, with much more flexibility and potential for unused Runes to shine because previously their set bonus wasn't as powerful as the meta alternative. Now you can for example keep your Scholar-Buff but switch to Runes of the Pack and trade a bit Ferocity for 15% Boon Duration on a Boon Support Build. Also on most Runes that are meta today, the set bonus is just not that impressive. Runes of the Krait or Firebrand for example, you just lose one condi trigger on Elite Skill usage with a high Cooldown. Runes of Balthazar is +10% Health, nice but nobody took it for that effect. Runes of Tormenting, gain Regeneration after inflicting Torment, big whoop. So switching to this new system will not invalidate Legendary Runes but might even make more Runes usable than before and therefore increase the value of them. Simply demanding Anet to hand out a Legendary Relic is not "restoring functionality" as we gain something different and imho much better than before. I also have Legendary Runes and I have no problem with it, in contrary I am quite excited for what that means for build crafting. And I get it, for some of you it is just about the principle, you will lose something that you had previously (however small it may be and disregarding how the new stuff might be way better) and thats where the compansation comes in, have fun with that. Also lets suppose Anet would not change Runes as they are but just introduce Relics, you would have to craft one for each of your builds anyways. Again, demanding a free Legendary Relic is just way over the top and dying on this hill or "threatening" to never buy gems or the expansions ever again is ridicolous.
  14. Thanks for looking into it and clearing it up for us! Of course I immediately sought the market events out, did three in a row (~10 min respawn timer) and then the Blackout Meta started. Apparently the market events won't spawn while the meta is up, which would be one of the reasons why so few people did them. The meta then failed halve way through and still no market events. I have waited 1h40min as the time of this writing, since I finished the last market event. So for anyone attempting this, you may need a successful meta map. While I at first was a bit sad, that we needed to "cheat" and rely on dev info instead of finding it on our own and blaming it on bugs that weren't there, I find that the prerequisites where too steep and am glad, that the event will spawn more reliably in the future.
