  1. Maybe alternate universes stuff, that was hinted at, no? Lore wasnt really my priority, im more concerned with how to make the rifts different from stuff like awakended invasions and also more interesting.
  2. I know its hip to be all "reused assets bad" but why dont we have some fun here. I want Rifts to spew out totally randomized mobs. Take any model of anything (NPC, enemy, wildlife, whatever). If you wanna go crazy do some color swapping and resizing. Give it a set of random abilities. Roll about 10 of em per Rift so its not all the same. Unleash the creation. Possibly wonky? Yes. Maybe Unbalanced? Yes. Totally cool? Yes.
  3. The Leather Straps Chestpiece has some very visible seams with the Sneakthief Leggings but also some other "low rise" pants Its very visible on the login screen and especially the back . Ingame you might get lucky and not see it depending on skin tone. Front and back Some smaller ones imgur doesnt flag 18+ :P
  4. Feeling this sometimes too lol. In Fractals/smaller scale stuff it seems to work mostly, think its just the effect being hidden if theres too much going on. I hope? 😛
  5. Parts of the collection was the most mind numbing 1999 WoW quest design garbage ever, i only finished it with the wiki and even then it was a drag. I resisted doing it for the longest time but finally it was obvious that id just have a 2000% easier time following trains and navigating the very vertically designed newer maps with the skyscale and so i caved. Was it worth it? Yes. Was it fun? Hell no. Also probably someone on the team had the common sense to imagine the following scenario: "Hello new player! Oh you want this fancy mount everyone has? No problem, this excel sheet style wiki page details all the samey 50 spots you have to go to, three times, on the same map, while time gated. Hey were are you going?"

  7. If Anet wants to try this "hard group content" thing again there need to be ingame tools to measure qualification like in any other game with thriving raids. They dropped raids on an unsuspecting populace without any of the required framework. But the problem isnt even if theyre willing to do that and conflict with their casual design philosophy. Most other games have gear inspect and dps meters but im not even sure that would be adequate for GW2 since its so heavily skill based. How do you express that in standardized values. Thats toxic and excludes people? Raids already got so toxic theyre dead now. People got already excluded based on diffuse perception of whats a good build or unreliable player-concocted measurements. Watch any streamer long enough and youll see 500+ KP/LI groups where half of em dont know mechanics. People lie about anything to get into groups. Remember that meme with the guy giving build advice or whatever and when inspected with an illegal gear checker had absolute clown shoe equipment? Wowie so much better than a reliable, standardized ingame method which would hurt my fee-fees. For starters introduce difficulty settings. Provide a clear progression path from open world flower picking to hardcore content. Yes thats hand-holdy but if you want hard content played by more than 5 people you gotta train your general player base towards that. Or just dont do hard content.
  8. Two streams basically wandering around maps looking at rocks. Zero combat, no action. Im a long time player so i already preordered EoD despite not being entirely happy with GW2 lately (with class balance and anets failing "no trinity" design resulting in extremely op support classes). The maps look nice, no question. If youre trying to get new players who know nothing about GW2 into the game with these streams in my humble personal opinion youre doing a terrible job. A new potential player will spend 5 minutes watching and then be bored and leave. The first stream on Shing Jea showed some events and combat and was a good show case - is it really not possible to do more like that without huge spoilers?
  9. Unless theres something in the expansion tailored to/requiring the turtle (like the worms in the desolation in gw1) its gonna be a rarely used gimmick. Its slow and i cant fire the guns, why would i use it solo? In a party it would need to equal the average dps of two players. If one or both are support, does that dps make up for a loss of boons/heals? Fun gimmick but practical? The most obvious solution would be to being able to fire the guns as driver and if you got a co-pilot give them a second set of guns. Might lead to balance problems tho.

Appreciate CmC talking indepth but at some point he said something akin to "we dont want a support spec to have too much damage/too much of everything" in regards to spectre or something like that and i did a double take irl. I hope he was speaking in the context of their future balance goals because i seriously doubt he forgot firebrand/scourge exists. Thief is clashing the hardest with the failing "No Trinity" design mantra and its getting real tiresome.

  12. This. Firebrand and Scourge still exist so a theoretical healthief would need to be on the same level of broken op to compete (a problem all EoD specs share but whatever). In that case be prepared for hard, fast nerfs if it does more than 1k dps because thief is thief and thief needs nerfs because it can run away too good. Also be prepared to be shoehorned into shadow arts and trickery because those are the only core spec lines i can see synergizing. Its decided anyway. Hope im wrong and its an awesome spec, ive been playing Daredevil for so long...
  13. Would be cool if there was a little quest attached to the elite specs this time. Like a thief meets the Am Fah (if theyre still around) or an Ele goes to train at Shing Jea or whereever. Better make them optional tho or else people will complain lmao.
  14. Maybe i wasnt clear enough, i finished the quest and got the Skyscale already (ill add something to the op). All the other quests after the initial tedious fetchquest were fine, more or less. As for it not being essential, what finally got me to do this was being left in the dust with my griffon on any train on any map that had any verticality. Since they promised more of that fabled Tangled Depths verticality in EoD i wanted to be prepared. News Flash : Starting your post with News Flash makes me ignore that post 🙂

Ha ha this one egg is right next to where one of the skyscales was earlier, im having negative fun After that the quests got largely better. Im baffled. Where there really no other ideas for the first stage of this than the worst of early 2000's mmorpg quest filler design or was that around the time anet was abit in trouble and didnt have that many resources? Please never unleash something like this on me ever again or at least dont have it relate to something kinda essential like a mount so i can avoid it.   16. Whats prolly several years ago now there was a similar thread where the op had a really well done collage of multiple swimsuits. It was really well done, looked like an actual gemstore thing. Also not just pure *beep* off material (nothing wrong with that but hey) but some pretty good designs and both genders. One of em was like a competition swimsuit with a fur stola thing, totally impractical but cool, woulda bought that instantly.   18. "Remove AT LEAST 1 dodge bar" Telling wording. Lets remove a core part of the elite spec but maybe it even should have less dodges than any other class. A class with such high damage shouldnt be as mobile. Oh wait two cDE builds dared to cross the 40k mark and got hammered hard and fast with a vengeance and now thief damage is normalized with all the other classes. A class with such good support shouldnt be as mobile. Oh wait big fat lol Lets just remove the mobility because then finally thief is an immobile sack who does nothing and the forums will be happy.
  19. Path of Exile has the same problem. On my old pc zoning into a hub had a 80% chance of chrashing because of the condensed mtx clutter. Even with the new rig i get a slight stutter sometimes when turning around from the box in eotn x) And in poe its the same argument, an option to disable the mtx would dimish/make the purcase worthless. People who buy mtx > people with potato pcs, thats just how it is
  20. The prevailing argument for thief support just seems to be "thief doesnt have a support role so it needs one". But if scourge and firebrand continue to exist in their current form the big question is "will it be viable/accepted in anything but open world content". Heres a crazy thought, in exchange for having almost no group utility give the new thief spec actually significantly more dps than a support role. Wowie! That would be like, an actual DPS class?! What a novel concept. With Anets No-Trinity design thief really got the short end of the stick. You have support classes with over 35k dps but as soon as thief eclipses that (hello gimmicky cDE d/p build) it needs to be nerfed because you cant have lots of damage while also being able to support. Except thief cant really support so it needs to have equal damage to support classes because [...loading...]. If the new thief support is equally busted as scourge and firebrand, fine ill take it. Otherwise give me an actual DPS class doing more actual DPS than a class which can also SUPPORT or TANK and stick with it regardless how how much forum/reddit crying there is.
  21. In theory interesting but the problem is a thief support spec would need to be a viable alternative to already existing support classes. Guardian for example is a ridiculous overtuned monster that does everything well and i cant see anet nerfing that or making a competitive thief support. If theres a thief support it will have its damage nerfed because thief is thief and cant have nice things. So even if its good support why not take a Hfb or Scourge instead, they have good support and damage. If its meh support, well go figure. A squishy class with meh support and meh damage wow. I dont have faith in anet pulling that off. Id rather see a good dps spec that does what thief was supposed to be, a glass cannon with actual competitive dps in exchange for having zero group support. Not like it is now, having zero group support and the same dps as a support class. The "No trinity" design philosophy really went awry. With clear defined roles by design at least stuff would be op in one thing only and not smother everything else like guardian/scourge. Tldr: Its a nice idea in theory but thief support will be bad and overshadowed by the already existing support masters. Id rather have a new way to dps.
  22. No Ive played MMO with subs (Age of Conan, Warhammer), they were fun for abit but then they were just games i payed constantly for just because. They didnt feel like they offered much more compared to a "normal" game. Towards the end of my playtime i just logged to "not waste money" before i decided to quit. And these didnt even have monetization like the Gemstore so the sub was at least somewhat warranted. The old "servers are expensive" thing is a spiel but not entirely untrue. What would GW2 offer for an additional sub fee (because lol removing the gem store lemme lol some more lol lol and lol)? 1) More content released more often? 2) Monthly balance instead of yearly? 3) Some gemstore exclusives integrated into the game as rewards? If all of these were true then maybe just maybe id consider it. Otherwise id be abit sad prolly but stop playing.

  24. Id like an easy/aftermath mode so that everyone can see the neat stuff and story thats buried in there. Doesnt even need to be easy mode, just offer everyone access to the cleared wing as if a player opened it for you. Maybe throw in memory points with flashback videos to the bosses. Due to training raids i kinda recently was able to see some stuff in the bastion for example and it boggles the mind that prolly 90% of the playerbase never will see any of that. And yes of course no equal rewards, that would be silly.
