  1. This is a rant, but it isn't a complaint. It isn't a complaint because ArenaNet doesn't owe me anything they haven't given me. Besides, I gotten a lot of pleasure out of GW2 and it's easily been worth the money I spent on it. If I've stuck with the game to the point of frustration, that's just me chasing the good times I once had. What I loved about GW2 is that it gave me unprecedented freedom to do my own thing. I could advance through open world PvE, story modes, gathering, crafting, exploring, running dungeons, completing puzzles, and doing team-based or world PvP. I loved roaming from place to place, finding new areas, gathering, completing hearts and participating in PvE events. While there was a lot on offer that didn't interest me, the great thing was, I didn't have to do it. It didn't matter that I, for instance, hated jumping puzzles with a burning passion. I could run right on past and go fight the next monster! I raised eight characters to level 80 and enjoyed making gold to equip them. When there were no more levels to get, there were Mastery Points and Hero Points to chase, to give me a reason to keep racking up experience. But the problem was, a lot of these were locked behind jumping puzzles. I've always been very, very bad at judging distances. I never could hit a ball as a kid, and as for playing precision puzzle games, forget about it! Chasing the points became frustrating. I adored the springer mount, which helped some. I was delighted when I learned that GW2 had added a griffon and a scyscale mount. At last, I thought, with the power of flight, I could bypass jumping-puzzles! But they were both gated behind jumping puzzles. Lots of jumping puzzles. I spent a lot of time working on this, an exercise in sheer frustration. I eventually got the griffon, but without the power to lift, there was only so much it could do. Only by being helped by strangers willing to teleport me was I able to get as far as the Skyscale Lost set of quests, the hardest set of jumping puzzles yet. And, while I haven't yet quite given up, I'm increasingly thinking that they are just not steps I can complete. My experience might be unusual. GW2 is an extremely successful game with many players, so maybe ArenaNet has it set up just right for the majority. But I wanted to share some feedback and I think this is the only venue for that.
  2. Thank you! I expected a message to tell me that the rune had been placed in the slot, but instead, the slot was lighting up to tell me it had been placed. I got through. A big thanks to everyone for helping!
  3. I placed the runestone needed to get to the ice room, which is the first room. In there, there are two runestones, of which I can take one. Taking the runestone to the door to the lava room, which is the second room, I can only get a message telling me that something round belongs here.
  4. The runestone does not place. I just get a message saying that something round goes here.
  5. The guide says that I need two runestones to open the second door. But the game tells me that I can't carry two runestones because they're too heavy. Having one runestone on me does nothing.
  6. I'm following an online guide to finish Waters of Derelict Delve and get my Skyscale, but the steps aren't working. I take the runestone from the ice cave and go on to the next door as in the video. But when I try to use the runestone, I'm just told "It looks like something circular goes here". In the guide on Youtube, the runestone jut goes right in and the teleporter can be used. I've gone back to double check that I have the stone. I do. I've restarted the game and tried again. Same result. I can't pick up another runestone because I'm already carrying one, but when I go to the lava room and try to interact with the teleporter, I just get told that it looks like something round goes here. If I can't do this, I can't ever get a Skyscale, after sinking I don't know how many hours into the project.
  7. What's the best thing to do with these? Nobody wants them on the TP.
  8. I guess my most fundamental question is whether everything should be boosting the same stats? Does the fact that my equipment isn't doing that mean that it isn't right?
  9. I want to roam the open world and be able to do PvE. I don't know enough to know if the build is a "Reaper Necro". I'm mostly using staff and 5 minions.
  10. I don't know where I got the build for my Necromancer from. He's years old. I've noticed though that his weapons and trinkets are not of the same type as the rest of his gear. His weapons and trinkets are power / precision / ferocity. His armor is all power / toughness / vitality. Could this be right? Or should everything be of the same type?
  11. There's a lot to enjoy in Guild Wars 2, but unfortunately, it was decided to require doing jumping puzzles. I'm working on getting a griffon in an effort to get past jumping puzzles, but of course, the griffon is gate behind jumping puzzles. It has been my hope to use the griffon to get the Skyscale and never have to do a jumping puzzle again, but I'm worried now that the Skyscale is just going to be gated behind even more frolicking jumping puzzles that having the griffon won't let me bypass. So my question is, how awful are the jumping puzzles for Skyscale for someone who finds the jumping puzzles to get a griffon awful? (Please don't lecture me on the puzzles not being that hard - everyone is different and we are all good at, and suck at, different stuff).
  12. Problem resolved, thanks! It gave me the option to turn it in when I signed back on. Sorry to bother you guys!
  13. I can't get Golsar, the Rune of Honor, which I need to get a Griffon. I've completed the achievement Equipment Tracker and reported back to Shadi, but I didn't get any rune.
  14. Current buy orders for Soy Beans have them going at 50 copper each.
  15. I've got characters parked on the farm in Seitung Harbor. To keep thing easy, I'm farming the higher value stuff while leaving the lower value stuff alone. I'm farming: Flax, Carrots, Herb Seedlings and Cherry Blossom trees. I'm leaving: Lotus, Cabbage, Potatoes, Zucchini, Sugar Pumpkins, and Soy Beans. My question is: Is there anything I clearly ought to be foraging than I'm not? I know that a lot of these plants have secondary drops that might be worth more than their primary drop.
  16. What's the easiest class for doing story missions? I'm guessing that it's an Engineer with turrets. But maybe it's a Necromancer with any army of undead, or something else.
  17. I have to do lots of jumping puzzles to get the Skyscale? I only want the Skyscale because I hate jumping puzzles so much. This might actually be enough for me to quit GW2 and go find another game. But you say there's a way to skip the jumping puzzles?
  18. I believe that I'm going to work towards getting a Skyscale. I've read, though, that it's easier to get the Skyscale if you get the Griffon first. Is it worth getting the Griffon first if what you really want is the Skyscale, or is getting the Griffon first more trouble than it's worth?
  19. Are these 5 glyphs equally good for making money? Since I can only use one kind of glyph at a time, should I just get whichever of those 5 are cheapest? That would be Alchemy at 86 gold each.
  20. I'm looking to make more gold while engaged in incidental gathering at nodes I stumble across while adventuring.
  21. I have all the gear for the level 80 Revenant Booster Build listed here: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Level-80_Boost But the skills listed under Devastation aren't the same in the game and on the site. The site tells me to get: Devastation: Vicious Lacerations, Assassin's Presence, Assassin's Annihilation But I have neither Vicious Lacerations nor Assassin's Annihilation as an option in the game.
  22. I tell a lie. I haven't opened one of the equipment packages. It says "All of these items are salvageable", but it seems not to be true! Is there anything to do with the equipment package other than destroy it?
  23. Oh! (I could have sworn the text said otherwise in game). Is there anything to do with it apart from just destroy it?
