  1. +1 to the lack of choice. Today has me needing to defeat 3 ppl in wvw and 3 in pvp. Not a choice I EVER took before. (tbf, I checked pvp to see what it would bring, not keeping it on though) Bring back choices in PvE and WvW!
  2. One bit of advice. Create a public bug tracker for class bugs! Set it up so players can vote on their priorities and start fixing them. (As for balance, the test servers should be used for QA and assessment.) This will create a tremendous amount of transparency and keep the devs honest to fixing what exists while expanding the game. The post with the mirage axe comment, srsly was awful to read. Most every dev studio maintains a dev and bug tracker in 2022.
  3. My luck with BLC uncommons is always proportional to how much I hate something. If I hate it enough, I get it. Like the horse head staff recently and that awful fire chair. (my tastes mind you) The second I saw the preview of either I was viscerally revolted. Within 5 keys .... I got them both. I've never gotten anything I really want in 8 years lol. Hoping that changes for this round of map completes. The new Cape is amazing.
  4. Well shiver me timbers, a chrono reversion! Well thanks Anet I know we qq alot here and some of the trade offs are, uh, interesting.... but this is still a positive movement. Gonna dust off that build slot for Chrono and see if I can make somehting out this for wvw.
  5. Hey Jazz thanks for doing this. Some see this as a waste of time with the likes of anet these days but its worth getting well documented constructive and informative community feedback to anet. The real test of whether that company is really committed to building some semblance of balance will be what they do with the information that people who play their hearts and souls into this class say. And even some feedback from those that play against it. I think Mesmer can be salvaged. The comments in this thread so far provide a framework. I want Mesmer to be salvaged. I want to play this class again knowing there's thought to its design, not just whackamole "hardhandling" cause they could not think of anything better. (amongst so many other fumbles) The ball will be in anet's hands. I've stopped playing this game by and large since Feb. Mesmer was a unique class amongst fantasy MMO's. One more fumble and this player will stop even coming to the GW2 forums anymore to even see if Mesmer is going to be patched to playability.
  6. Back in the day (pre-feb mirage nerf) when I cared about wvw and still played fairly frequently, my go to build against thieves always involved boon stripping. It was so fun to burst them down after stripping / stealing their boons. Since the feb patch, I got fed up fighting with swappable wet noodles regardless of build that I just gave up entirely ..... anyone know of the viability of boon stripping builds against teef now? I seem to recall that Arcane Thievery took a nerf too.
  7. Player here since Tyria in GW1... I agree the story has really gone downhill. It started showing with the last couple of episodes of LS4 and has accelerated since. Icebrood Saga plus the crazy mirage nerfs in Feb has just been too much of a letdown for me - to the point I'm not even motivated to do daily logins anymore. This from GW2 being my go-to game and main form of gaming entertainment since GW2's launch. Even the insane loots of the recent map cannot get me back and I was a die hard-pve mat farmer. As I've thumbed for other comments above, I feel the studio and personnel problems have really affected the quality of this game. If ANET's got something left in their sails, I hope its being used for the next expac.
  8. You beat me to the same post!
  9. Unless anet removes another Dodge rofl. Don't worry, Mirage will become dodge-less before long, Anet's saving the best nerf for last!
  10. ++1 to the OP. While you're at it, fix high pop world bosses that have similar hi pop issues too. Like Teq.
  11. Great vid! I enjoyed watching the entirety. Not that much mez fight content post-patch on Youtube these days. I esp liked the field proc at 7:40.
  12. Hahahhaaa, great post. I got a great laugh from it and a nice way to start the week! I only wish the QQ were not so true.Personally, I'm enjoying Mirage still but only in PvE. (esp in Fractals where it does quite well.) The fast, dynamic play style of Mirage in competitive modes is gone. The best WvW'ers have learned to just wait out or bait out the single Mirage dodge and then burst them down. Simple and done. If you don't flee and reset, you're cooked. (Edit: Worst is in outnumbered fights were a sideliner waits for the dodge and bursts in. It's so easy now to know when to go for the jugular knowing the espec has one dodge.)
  13. Yes Quadox, its a projectile finisher. Lol I'm so used to just yelling "blast finish" in voice chat for any finisher in a field.I posted this as a bug in the bugs sub-forum.
  14. Hi, GZ on becoming a mesmer! It is one of the harder classes to level up from 1.Rule no 1: It's a game and play what you like. There are different core mesmer play styles, try them all and see what you like. (Heck you might like them all) Basic weapon mechanics for core mesmer:Melee - main hand sword. If you like getting into the mix face to face.Range - Staff/ GS/ Scepter. If you like fighting from a distance.Note-You can do both via weapon swaps. As for traiting and builds - in open world leveling, my advice is to go with power if you can. The mobs in open world core Tyria pve don't move and attack fast enough to make condi builds optimal, especially if you're new to GW2 combat. It's better to simply Power them down with Greatsword/Sword and shatters. Focus on gathering power based weapons and armor. For traits, The domination, chaos and illusions lines can make for nice power heavy combos. On the utility bar, anything that makes a clone or phantasm helps pump out shatter fodder and gives you unique capabilities in combat. There are ways to play the mez that use mantras and sigils but imho, you should focus on the shatter mechanic first and then experimenting with mantras and signets. Eventually, you can combo them all. I don't know how much experience you have with GW2 combat but mesmers are especially tricky because of the clone and shatter mechanics. You sort of have your own little minions that you can control to an extent and they are different. Learn to make use of them as early as possible. Trying to explain it all and the combos possible would require a book. So I offer to you one of the guides I've always pointed new mesmers to on Youtube. Phillip does a great job explaining the basics of the class: It's a little dated but for core mesmer, I still think very relevant and you get a preview of the first elite spec, Chronomancer. (Which has been reworked by anet) Enjoy!
