  1. Yup, the Lost Ark mention is on point, and I was thinking how this game is trying to mimic Lost Ark in bleeding players by jerking them around. Is there some race to the bottom in the game industry that I am unaware of? Devs seeing if they can "one up" other devs in annoying players? Mind boggling. Naturally, you'll still get the same defenders carrying the water for these guys no matter what. Addiction and tribalism is strong with some. These people remind me of voters in places like San Fran and Chicago that keep watching their cities go down the drain yet sit there saying "this is fine" and keep voting for the same people destroying their once great cities with horrific policies.
  2. Nobody should be surprised by anything given the recent history of the game. Just look at the abomination that was the June balance patch or the second half of Gyala Delve, to name two. Why would anyone think the same people that were behind that stuff wouldn't keep doubling down on bad decisions making the game worse and alienating even more of their player base? I'm actually sort of happy to read about this stuff since I effectively quit playing after that balance patch since I saw the writing on the wall. Seeing this makes me not feel like I need to start playing again and confirms I made the correct decision.
  3. The only way Twitter dies is if Musk decides to kill it or if the crazies in government who hate him and the idea of somewhat less censored speech and ability to see non propaganda views/info for the plebs get totalitarian power and ban it. While I don't use Twitter and have no desire to, we have thankfully not reached that point with the psychopaths in government...yet. It may come. For Reddit, that'd have to be a revenue thing and them pulling it versus people just boycotting it in droves. That silly blackout act of virtue signalling they did produced resulted in nothing. I do think an upvote system is better than the silly emoji system used here....but both types of systems push some majority view or divisiveness and don't add much. One of the biggest problems with vote systems like that is they are often abused to bury anything that is critical. and produce a bit of groupthink or herd mentality.
  4. Mechanist is definitely one. Reaper is another that doesn't require a lot of button presses to be effective. A shame it was even better for this before the signets of suffering trait nerf but still not too bad.
  5. I'd rather the leash potion of it simply didn't exist than getting the "carrot" treatment. There is simply no reason for this leash mechanic other than to annoy players.
  6. Mechanist (at least not overall...perhaps you are only talking about one single build and that is a build I don't have experience with) is not overpowered and they have constantly "nerfed" Mech for months on end. The mechanical genius change they did is basically a nerf with how it now acts. Also, I just have to laugh at you acting like "homongenization" is a good thing. Not everyone wants to be a carbon copy of everyone else. If you make all the classes kitten near be the same then wtf is the point in having them all?
  7. Yeah, it was a very weird and uncalled for change that impacted me with my open world solo reaper build. The new more "meta" build I changed to isn't toooooo different for me and is still fairly fun while not requiring too many button presses but I would prefer to have my signet reaper build back and be content with the fact I was doing LESS damage then than I do now. The problem is it seems despite the gaslighting that they do saying they want build diversity, what they really want is everyone effectively playing one or two styles of build for each class. I wonder if part of the reason for that is it'd make their "balancing" job easier since they wouldn't have to focus on a multiple range of things they know nobody will be using. Regardless of the reason, it's annoying when stuff like this signet change happens given it was a niche build. You are correct that just changing things for no valid or sane reason is the worst thing to do as it gives one the doubt of spending money when they don't know if their niche or non o.p build is safe. I'm one of these. Why would I spend cash going forward if I have the knowledge something I may like will just be butchered in a few months? The more logical and common stance someone will take is to just quit paying or drastically cut back time in the game, which is what I am doing as other than a few hours last Wednesday when I checked out the changes and then briefly checked out the beta stuff, I have only signed in to collect the login bonus and do an exchange for a specific provisioner token. They also ruined my quickness scrapper build on me with this patch as it feels so clunky and un-fun now. At least with reaper I could use the different build and still enjoy the class. Not the case with scrapper as that class right now is dead to me.
  8. I'm not a scourge player so I can't comment on that situation. What I can comment on is the signet of suffering change. My main build before was a power signet reaper one (I only play open world) and it was fun to play and it sucks that they killed it. The crazy thing to me with the change is if you wanted to just dump the perks signet of suffering gave while in shroud along with the recharge perk because you felt they were somehow too powerful (were they for other specs?) then why not at least make the base passives of the signets work in shroud? As it stands now, these are pretty much useless skills for a profession that can't use them a lot of the time so what logic is there in making things in your game be completely useless? It defies logic to me. Perhaps this is something they will change and let the base passives work while in shroud. I will say that having to go change to more of the "meta" build hasn't been too big an issue or change and still pretty fun yet I'd prefer to have my signet build back, regardless if I'm doing more dps now.
  9. Completely agree with everything Tuskali said. I am a mainly solo open world player and really liked scrapper before as it was fun. It is not fun now and feels incredibly clunky. I couldn't care less if by some chance I am doing more dps now and my quickness might actually be lasting longer when I get it going since I play video games for fun and this is not fun. Scrapper went from being what was basically my co-main to now being dead to me. That sucks. It's a horrible change right now and again as Tuskali stated, the large majority of scrapper players hate it. I also don't care if say 5 or 10% of scrapper players like this new style. Tiny minorities aren't supposed to dictate how things are. You could at least make the argument if say 40-50% like it but that is not the case and they need to read the room on this and make changes sooner than later.
  10. Scrapper was super fun before yet now is clunky and unfun to the point the class is dead to me. Will they actually make changes? Hard to say. I feel like almost every single scrapper player could directly say to them they hate it and the devs would still stay stubborn and not change a thing. There was nothing super wrong with it before and the view that it meant people were spamming gyros doesn't change now that people will be spamming stuff to create fields specifically if they are solo and then spamming whatever finisher skill they can in said field. Again, it's clunky. At least before 3 of the gyros I was using were useful to me but now I would have to spam stuff that I don't want to use just to try and make it all work since I am a mainly solo player. Mech genius has got to go. There is no point in having the leash other than to annoy players. Mech is not chart topping like it may have been when it first came out so having this still be a thing is again, just there to annoy players. I know there are still some that believe in the silly narrative that you can just afk and the robot can take on everything but that is complete bull. Even if it was, the robot doesn't even do THAT much damage with the way people have gone on about it. At the very least, the grace period timer should be brought back because it's ridiculous as it is right now.
  11. Feels clunky to me from a solo play point of view. I couldn't care less if there is "more" quickness to be had if it feels clunky and not fun to play. Loved scrapper before but the spec right now is sadly dead to me.
  12. It's not a tricky issue: just get rid of any penalty. Mech isn't this super beast spec anymore that the narrative some still latch onto implies. There is absolutely no reason for the penalty/mech genius existing other than to annoy and troll players. And on an unrelated note, the scrapper change is horrible. So clunky to play and the spec, which was basically my co-main before, is now pretty much dead to me. Sad.
  13. Yeah, this new style just feels clunky, annoying, and not fun. Scrapper before was a very fun class to play and basically my co-main to now being something I won't even bother playing. Maybe in a group it isn't as big an annoyance (no idea i it is or isn't) since you'll have others throwing up fields but solo it sucks and feels so clunky. Disaster of a change.
  14. Pretty sure they announced the expansion the same day BECAUSE they knew the update is bad and wanted to deflect attention away from it. It's the whole "look, a squirrel!" playbook you usually see in politics and sometimes elsewhere and going by the GW2 Youtubers outside of Mukluk along with the GW2 subreddit, it seemed to have worked. All they have done is talk about the expansion and acting like everything is awesome. As for the question of the poll, I tried out the patch for the first time yesterday for a few hours and had less fun. The game is mainly dead to me going forward unless something changes because I play games to have fun. it's not such that GW2 isn't at all fun anymore as it still mostly is (at least with a few classes I like) but it's more the fact I see the writing on the wall and don't want to invest more time into a game that may be completely butchered by the end of the year.
  15. This would indeed be much better. Still, I am with the group that says there shouldn't be any range thing at all because there is no reason for it. Like alcatraznc stated, the narrative that you can just go get a piece of pizza while the jade mech does its thing was/is not supported by reality and reality should always trump narratives. It's been nerfed enough that even if that were true, it is not now so there is no need for this leash system that does nothing but annoy players.
  16. The problem is those balance devs you want to replace surely had to get the approval from someone or some people above them so what about that person or those people that said "yup, let's go with this!" Do you replace them as well or do they somehow get a pass even though they had final say with this and knew full well some of the community was ticked off but didn't care? Then if you do replace these balance devs, do you just replace them with in house people or do you get some outside fresh blood? I think replacing in house will show zero change. Outside you have the chance something may change but it's also likely anet would specifically hire people that think exactly like them so you'd not see any difference. I just highly doubt this is a company that actually wants people that may share differing views, and philosophies than they do. Most companies are like that so it's not just an Anet thing. most companies basically want people to share in a hive mind as it is no doubt smoother to operate if everyone has the same view of how things are and should be. I started playing in April 2022 and I remember last year when they changed the balance head after a mea culpa post that people were raving about how good it would be yet here we are with that new balance head and it's the same type of thing people were upset about a year ago before the change. See what I mean? Nothing actually changed and it's so similar to the June 2022 debacle. It reminds me a lot of people that waste their lives on following politics and think that replacing psychopathic politician A with psychopathic politician B in country C will magically make country C a utopia and what ends up happening is nothing of true importance ever changes and these people don't learn and keep following the dog and pony show thinking that next time will be different. I think there is simply a company wide mentality at work here and unless that got changed, nothing else will change. This is the same company that has put divisive stuff directly in the game (which is getting worse with each new piece of content), and have also shared their support for divisive stuff on social media. This is divisive stuff (and I won't specifically mention what it all is) that I think AT BEST, maybe only half or so, though probably quite a bit lower, of the world population may actually support while the rest do not support it or get outright offended at it. So if you have a company that blatantly knows a bunch of their player base is going to be annoyed or outright offended by it and doesn't care and that they will be divisive instead of keeping their views and ideology outside of their video game, why would they care about some feedback for a balance change? It's the same mentality at work. If you want to actually see any change with how these guys go about future balance updates and the like then a good percentage of the player base has to effectively boycott the game, meaning not playing and especially not buying anything. That's the only way you may ever see any type of change because outside of that, they simply won't care and will just keep doing what they want to do, regardless of their customers. It's pretty much the same with any other company not caring about how things will be received by heir customers with many examples proving this. The most recent is probably the Bud Light debacle where they did something they knew the majority of their customers would not approve of but they didn't care, probably thinking nothing would happen. Boy were they wrong and they have lost billions of dollars because of that hubris. Oh, and if/when we get the inevitable "we hear you and will do better" mea culpa post like we got last year which was a load of bunk as proven right now, don't fall for it and start thanking the person for writing it. It's at the point where they need to EARN your trust by proving they mean it so make them earn it.
  17. Then specifically change it from leap to whirl just for hammer since rocket charge is an abomination of a skill. That way nobody will cry about hammer actually having a reliable skill to proc their quickness to go with rocket charge. Whirl would also be nice for the shredder gyro which any weapon based build could use. Tried out my hammer scrapper today and it's just so clunky to the point I have no real interest to keep playing it. Having whirl be added or hammer specifically using whirl instead of leap would make me enjoy this new design much more.
  18. You man you are one of those crazies that plays video games for...fun? Nuts! I'm also one of those crazies (like the majority of gamers) that plays video games for fun and decreasing the fun in a game does not make me more interested in playing it. My two favourite builds for the professions I have were signet reaper and quickness scrapper and both got gutted here. Going to a more "meta" reaper build is still decently fun but not as fun as before, despite giving me more dps. Scrapper feels so clunky now because of them not adding whirl finishers to the change and I have no desire to play it going forward if this is how it is going to stay. The thing that might be the biggest bummer for me is them nerfing the no cooldown for slam on the turtle pilot booster. That was super fun to just roll around open world stomping things on the turtle when I wanted to just super relax yet now it's just blah. There was no reason to do this nerf.
  19. Yup, got to try the game out today and the fun factor has definitely decreased. Scrapper feels incredibly clunky now (leaving out whirl finisher but throwing in the leap finisher which sucks on hammer was a troll move) and not as fun, I miss reaper signet even if using more of the "meta" build gives me improved dps, and the nerfing of the turtle pilot booster just because people were actually enjoying their turtle for a change in open world completely sucks. I can only imagine the frustration for those that play specs that got hit or changed even worse. I am not a regular Mukluk watcher but I have never seen him that annoyed/upset in all the other videos I've watched of his. It's clear that anet watches videos of these people and makes adjustments accordingly (I think they saw the Mighty Teapot Dragon's End turtle video and probably the Hizen "meme" turtle video and that is why they nerfed pilot booster's slam perk) if the folks show some crazy/fun stuff so maybe they should take a hint and actually watch these people complaining about the issues and make changes based off that. News flash to anet employees: the majority of people play video games for FUN, not for whatever you think they play them for. Also, there's plenty of games out there so if you continue to take the fun away then people have numerous other options to find their fun.
  20. Tried out my scrappy this morning (solo, which is what most of my gameplay is) for the first time since the patch and ugh, the class is basically dead to me now, which sucks since it was super fun before. I think if they added in whirl that it wouldn't be too bad but having leap seems like a giant troll on their part. They know hammer 3 is a horrible skill.
  21. There's reasons I would like to go into of why it's this way but it'd probably be seen as off-topic and a "personal attack" here so I'll have to keep silent. All I will say is it is not incompetence, they know what is fun, and they know exactly what they are doing with their anti-fun changes. And yes, they don't care what we the players think, like, or want. Like Is aid in the first sentence, there's specific reasons for this but can't mention it. The best thing people can do is simply quit caring about the game like you said and stop financially supporting them if unhappy with the game's direction.
  22. Anet: "dodge incoming attacks and move around instead of standing there" also Anet" if you dodge and get 3.2 inches outside of our tiny range with your mech, you will be penalized!" You can't make this up. The 8 second grace period before was fine and it was fairly easy to manage most of the time. Having no period is absurd to the point I hope it is a bug because how crazy is someone to come up with that change and not see the glaring issue it causes. It's like all they do is make changes based on characters standing in front of a stationary golem.
  23. Find the build the "balance team" head uses and go with that. Probably the only way you can be sure the build in the future won't be nerfed into the ground or changed for the worse like scrapper was here.
  24. Maybe this will be their Bud Light moment so to speak and they'll lose a good chunk of the player base for a bad decision and have to address that. Question then is will they be like the clowns at Bud were after two months of tanking sales by coming out with a new ad that implies their target audience/customers are bumbling idiots or will they show some humility and accept they screwed up and actually start to listen the players and make changes where the biggest negative feedback is. While I don't think companies should simply run just by customer feedback, you have to read the room and when you get almost universal negative feedback then take a hint and realize you screwed up and need to change something. What they did is show nothing but disdain for the player base that gave feedback and quite a bit of hubris. I know that I'm effectively done with the game for the time being because of this patch being the final straw so to speak. They killed my main build (signet reaper) in open world/pve for no reason other than just because. Not like signet reaper or signet any necro spec was burning up the pve charts in terms of dps/dominance or was over-represented. All they did was kill some build diversity, something they claim they want more of. Sure thing! Oh, and they apparently also nerfed the turtle pilot booster by getting rid of the no cooldown on slam. Why? Because some were having fun actually using the turtle for a change in open world content? The horror! Definitely don't want customers of our VIDEO GAME to have fun!
  25. Disdain for their player base with a sprinkle of hubris thrown in.
