  1. Ok, out with it just say which class and spec needs to be where so we can all stop getting pissed off on the nerf patch previews from now on.
  2. Is the OP an ANet employee ? Does he live in the same universe like us all? You were absolutely incompetent at balancing the limited options you had to deal with already, what on earth possessed you to think that you can handle new weapons for different specs ?! Rhetorical question, the two neurons nerf team does not understand the word "balance" so why bother. It was fun reading everyone's reaction, a reaction I deeply resonate with. Btw, ANet, thank you for pushing me to discover Diablo 4. Great story, really enjoying the gameplay and the flexibility they managed to come up with in the skill tree. If it wasn't for you I would have lived in a cave for much much longer but I really owe it all to you. I think you should become an official Blizzard referral since you are already doing a great job at pushing your player base to other games, why don't you capitalize on that?
  3. I'm thinking Greatsword & Sword/Focus as weapons. Would be great to use pistol instead of Focus but with the love ANet has given projectiles it will be suicide. So I'm thinking Greatsword would be the DPS weapon since Split Surge can hit 3 targets. It's enough to have 1-2 clones and already the number of targets would be very big. Thoughts ?

    Tf?

The biggest problem I see here is that they are not testing as they should and only try to figure out things by trying out the changes themselves in their own dev environment. I am not aware of any beta program that involves actual players happening on a constant basis. Theoretically, a good release cycle should follow the principle of testing in a sandbox environment where clients (meaning players) have a chance to try out the upcoming changes and discuss with the devs about what they think. There should be a permanent beta server where beta testers can log in and play the thing. Rather now it's a very autocratic and trial & error kind of thing they are doing. Very amateurish from a dev team. As for the Mesmer changes .. not much to say just that it's in line with what we've been expecting: a list of nerfs to get 1 dodge back to Mirage in competitive mode and clueless devs about what to do with Chronomancer.
  5. Seeing all these comments and complaints but then you still log in to play the game is called "Stockholm syndrome". I've stopped playing the game since the last balance patch. It's frustrating to see how they just destroy the class and there is no vision. So the only thing I can do to show my anger is stop supporting the company and the game. It's actually great! There's life besides this game. So thank you ANet for giving my life back. F U for shitting on my energy, time and money...
  6. Don't know about the Mirage changes if they are too bad, you might need to go full Ritualist to get the same effect. The Stone Heart change is definitely a big nerf 4s when getting into Earth and 1 s when leaving. There's really no reason to even pick Earth traitline. Stone Heart was the only reason why people would pick it up and now that is gone too. Balance Team = Nerf Team. But keep at it ANet! I can see your goal is to end up having a game being played only by your testers and devs :) I think you are definitely improving there!
  7. Not even gonna waste my time with someone who brags about spending so much time perfecting his build :) To us, the players who rotate between classes consistently, developing our own builds and tweaking things to fit our play style it's a no-brainer that it's the most basic thing to do. Yet for you it's a major achievement. Bravo :) baby steps, we've all been there.
  8. Yeah, nobody takes Earth except if you are support Tempest in PvP. There's some stuff with protection there and some damage reduction but meh..not enough to justify an entire traitline usage just for Stone Heart which is really the only thing you want from there.
  9. Stealth is a broken mechanic, everybody hates you in WvW and PvP. The fact that being hit or CC'ed doesn't take you out of stealth is just wrong. The fact that 90% of the time we can't see you or target you doesn't make you a better player.. It makes you a cheesy one abusing a broken mechanic. Even Virtuoso or Guardian with their huge number of Aegis applications are not that broken because they can be targeted or boonripped. But nothing against stealth.
  10. I play 3 classes pretty often: elementalist, mesmer and necro. Changes to elementalist: meh, good they fixed bugs but Tempest could use a rework on the grandmaster traits. Not being able to provide alacrity and heal at the same time is weird, other classes do it so where is the balance? In WvW tempest is mostly a cleanse bot and provides some decent healing but that's it. It would be great if it could compete with Firebrand that way in a group you can either have a Firebrand or a Tempest a.k.a give Tempest the ability to generate more stability and share it with the group. It is pretty much its weak point right now. It could also compensate for the Stone Heart rework. On the Sone Heart grandmaster trait: people take that because a Thief can just one shot you if he attacks from stealth and behind at the same time. Not gonna lie, the fact that you have to camp Earth to not die because of crits from sneaky thieves is a bit of a bummer so I'm curious on the number of seconds you maintain Stone Heart when entering and existing Earth. Changes to Mesmer: great you're fixing bugs but not great you're touching alacrity, again. Good that it is in PvE only since in competitive mode it is literally impossible to maintain 3 clones up so Staff Mirage has literally no play in PvP or WvW. But still, half of the alacrity and being forced to take Ritualist gear...I don't like it. And where are the PvP & WvW changes for Mirage? Where is our 2nd dodge while Daredevil has 3 and perma stealth. How can you say "Thief is in a good spot" ??? Are we playing the same game ?? Thief is like the most toxic and annoying class to play against in competitive mode, yet Staff/Axe Mirage is a big offender. If Mirage would get it's 2nd dodge back it could see some play in WvW Zergs with GS. Right now only Chrono reached meta and that is because of boonrips with Gravity Well and Shield. But it's such a boring build to play. Changes to Reaper: the class just feels clunky with a Greatsword. I don't care about a power coefficient when my attacks are 3/4-1 second spaced out. Greatsword on Reaper feels like a staff only it's melee. There is a total disconnect between changes to Shouts and the use of the GS. Shouts reward you for being in melee range but the spec's weapon punishes you greatly. So most Reapers take Axe/Focus and Staff and avoid using shouts too much because they avoid being in melee range outside of Reaper's Shroud. Closing words: Please play the game yourself in competitive modes and see how each class & spec feel. Focus on competitive mode balances, spare us with the PvE balance patches, who cares we're able to bring down a giant hitbox to 0 that fast. I haven't played a raid or a strike in months because they are that boring. Fractals & dungeons are more fun than raids or strikes but because they reward you better people obviously play those. Once they get their gear they go away because who wants to grind the same raid indefinitely ??? Might as well go hit the Kitty for 10 mins a day if I feel like doing a Raid. Fix the stealth problem with Thief in competitive modes, figure out ways each class can counter it! It is quite funny that a Mesmer (basically the Trickster), an Elementalist (the Mage) and Necromancer (the King of the Undead) have basically no counter play to Thief. These classes should have the most counterplay to stealth because they are squishier and, except for the necro, require a lot of skill to play.
  11. Absolutely fabulous! You sir, take the prize with your comment. Especially since I play mesmer most of the times. Nowadays I mix it up with Elementalist but both suffer from lack of counter to thieves and mesmers are even worse since it' such a reactive class, it needs a target to get up clones, no target, no clones so it's a sitting duck against Thief.
  12. So your advice is to: 1. dodge, evade, block something you can't see or target. 2. stop playing the class you like because Thief is broken. Have you read your advices to yourself? If not, you should...
  13. Honestly, it's not even fun to roam in WvW. It's the same toxic play we see in PvP. At least make it such that if they get hit or have condis on them they cannot get into stealth or take them out of stealth. This way even classes that don't have reveal skills but have AoE damage have a chance.
  14. Hey guys, I'm working on the legendary amulet Prismatic Champions Regalia and I am stuck at Return to Eye of the North. There are 2 achievements that I cannot wrap my head around. Back to the Past: this one requires you play a mission using the Scrying Pool. The only one that I see is Forging Steel and I've played that twice already and this achievement is still not completed. Treasure Hunter: Darkrime Delves: this one requires accessing a mission from Visions of the Past: Steel & Fire. The problem is that I can't access anything except Forging Steel. Even if I try to replay the entire chapter, the Scrying Pool only allows me to access one mission. Can someone help me understand how I should access those maps to finish these 2 achievements? Thank you!
  15. This is happening quite frequently, there's always an AFK player in PVP ranked matches. They should have their account suspended for good or at the very least not allowed to play any competitive modes forever. They are ruining the game and are basically shitting on every other player who actually plays PVP because they like it. It's just a really bad experience. Do feel free to propose any other measure against these roaches.
  16. Here's some QoL I want to propose that I have been thinking about: 1. Junk items Remove them completely. They are junk items! No use other then selling them for currency or to fill up your inventory. Just give us the currency instead of the junk items. I'm pretty sure everyone will agree with this being a major QoL change. 2. Chests with bags with chests with bags etc...a never ending "pop this chest" clicking trauma to my fingers Please, stop with the chests that give out other chests or bags that then give other things you need to open to get to your item. It is incredibly annoying and unnecessary. My mouse does not like it. Instead if there should be a 1 level chest/bag. I open it, I get all the things in one go. In the end we all want the crafting items/gold/gear so why make us work so much just to get to our reward ?
  17. I've read your document and I don't agree with most of the stuff you propose. I play mostly PVP and occasionally do some WvW but not as much. I played a lot of PvE on Mesmer so I can say that I have a pretty good understanding of the class and I pretty much know all the builds that are possible on it since I like to theorycraft every now and then. I'm going to speak mostly from the PVP perspective. I believe things are far worse for mesmers in WvW. You can pretty much roam with any build in WvW so we are not going to consider that for now since it's the same as PvP but with PvE gear. Mesmer is a high skill class and quite squishy tbh. It gets very few boons passively in competitive play. Fury, vigor and occasionally might are the dominant ones. Then here and there you get some stability, regen, aegis etc. But nothing spammy and you actually have to make compromises to get those boons. Power Virtuoso, right now, is probably the single thing that I have played which can definitely face multiple classes and loses only to very few if you are skilled enough that is (stealth abuse thief, aura elementalist which can literally kill you just by spamming auras on itself or the cheesy hammer spellbreaker with defense traitline which may not kill you but you won't kill him either if tanky). Mirage is dead for me in PVP or WvW. 1 dodge and you have to get inspiration traitline to get more ambushes otherwise very weak. This is actually a shame because out of all the elite specs Mirage is my favorite one. Chronomancer, besides the fact that chrono bunker is back, is an underperforming spec. In WvW it's basically a boon removal spam bot. If it weren't for that it wouldn't even have a place in WvW group play because other specs can give alacrity in a much more reliable way than Chrono can. Also, playing Chronomancer is just not fun. Virtuoso has this really engaging way of fighting, Mirage has very cool tricks it can do but Chronomancer is just a stale spec with no identity. I agree with one thing though, I would like inspiration traitline to be reworked but not nerfed. Right now, Inspiration is highly dependent on getting the Illusions traitline to have sustained heal from spamming shatters. Otherwise it has very little utility in competitive modes. I can summarize Inspiration in 2 words: "sub-mediocre heal". So for me, I'd like to see some boon application moved from other traitlines to Inspiration. I'd like to know that the reason I am investing an entire traitline and losing the damage modifiers is because I give out boons and help myself to sustain. Right now Mesmers have to take both traits (Inspiration & Illusions) to sustain themselves. I believe that is too much of a trade-off. Any other combination you try will just result in you being stomped for the entire game. Not fun. Thanks for putting the energy to write this document, every suggestion is welcomed as it opens the door for discussions and other ideas flowing but in all honesty I am happy your changes were not implemented because they would have made mesmer a completely dead class. While far from being where it should be, a combination of thieves and spellcasters, basically a trickster per my understanding, it still is, thankfully, a viable option in PVE, PVP and WvW.
  18. I went and tried the hammer build in an unranked match. I have no idea how to play spellbreaker in PVP, or warrior for that matter. But I took every CC I could take coupled with Defense traitline and some cleansing. I was on Rampage the whole game. That should say something no ? The players weren't bad to be honest but the amount of CC I could deal in an AOE really changed the balance of the game. And with every CC I was getting quickness, boon rip and heal. Basically I would always get 3 peeps to focus on me while the rest of my team would clean them up. That is very unbalanced, I could survive while being focused long enough for my team to kill everyone else.
  19. I find the spellbreakers obnoxious right now. The condi one is absolutely disgusting to play against. I play main mesmer, I've never had problems going against warriors. I know I need to kite them and that's fine, it's part of the way to handle the class. But all it takes for spellbreaker now is to land 1CC and mind you, they have more CC than I can stunbreak even if all my 3 utilities are stunbreaks. After that you're done, you simply have no way of fighting back. Between 2 dodges and 3 stun breaks they will land that 1 CC because they have the durability to absorb a LOT of damage so the longer they stay in the fight the worse it is for you. With my Virtuoso I can take down a friggin Reaper even if he has full shroud. But I can't take down a spellbreaker. I don't consider myself a PRO to have a strong opinion about what should be done but all I can say is that I do not stand a chance against a spellbreaker. In fact, I don't think any class can stand a chance against it right now. I've seen a spellbreaker do a 3v1 and win. That's just insane! And, like others have mentioned here, trying to make your build counter 1 member of the opposing team is nuts, you basically lose all other encounters with the rest of their team. And there's condi cleanse too you need to figure out, can't just take all stunbreaks. Please do not give me the counter argument that mesmers have clones and they can trick melee classes with that. Clones can be distinguished from the main so that's that. In higher leagues everyone knows how to pick out the mesmer from the clones.
  20. Well, if what we get out of this thread is at least the removal of Rally, I'll take that. Later on maybe Down State could be normalized and kitten off the Necros, Rangers and Warriors.
  21. You need expertise (how long it lasts) for condition damage (how hard your conditions hit) to be at full potential. That's 2 attributes. Seems you totally missed that part. And it's on par with Power and Ferocity (how hard you hit, how hard are you crits). Strike damage is instant, condi needs to build for it to be effective. Condi is also more tricky to be effective, many specs have condi cleanse on dodges, shatters, blocks etc. and, at least against a virtuoso, a condi build is pretty useless. Naturally, some specs have advantages over others, this is fine, this is what keeps the game interesting. If you think my opinion is useless, yours is totally coming from a parallel universe.
  22. Thought I'd open this thread here and maybe catch ANet's attention somehow, since they have gotten us used to quarterly balance patches :) So here are some proposals that I think could prove healthy to the PVP community. 1. Down state Please normalize downstate skills. Everyone should be equal, no special traits to optimize downstate, no pets help. Everyone plays by the same rules. I believe in competitive modes Down State should mean that you can Crawl to a safer spot and use Bandage to try and stop the bleeding, but not revive yourself, until a teammate comes and resurrects you. 2.. Rally Completely remove Rally from PVP. It's a completely broken mechanic. It leads to many unbalanced situations that occur in every single game. There are many arguments against Rally but the main one is that you get back up with almost all your cooldowns reset and half the hitpoints. You can cast your heal skill, which for some specs is unblockable (Mesmer with distortion) and it's like you completely revived while the other player has most of his skills on cooldown and now cannot stand a chance. Extremely unfair, especially in 2v2 where a player is down, your teammate now gets killed because it's targeted and the downed player revives. All of a sudden you find yourself in a 1v2 situation and lost the fight. Some will argue it's strategy. It is not, it's a big unbalance. 3. Ranked match level This is due to the extremely high influx of noobs that have invaded ranked matches in lower leagues. To reach level 20 is extremely easy. Does that mean you have a good grasp on the spec or build you are playing? Not at all. Furthermore, you can basically get there even faster if you pick some really OP builds (like the shouts bladesworn) which are basically imba against noobs. So make it 40. Most of us playing ranked games want either, or both, of the following things: play quality games and work towards some legendary item/skins etc. Since ranked matches are now a hit or miss you can end up grinding and messing up your progression because you are unlucky and your team is totally crap. I've had a day when I was lucky to be in teams with people who knew what they were doing and there was good communication between us. Then the next day I matched only with beginners in my team. Everything I worked on the previous day went down the drain the next one. I understand there are some matches you win and some you lose, it's natural. But when you see some players who have no idea what they are doing...you have to start asking yourself what is the difference between ranked and unranked other than just being another grind. My solution may not be optimal but do try to think how this can be addressed because it's extremely annoying.
  23. Why would you think that? CC, stealth, reflects, conditions are all part of the fight itself and some classes are built around those mechanics. Down state is simply not part of that. Rally shouldn't even exist, it's absolutely busted in PVP. In a 2v2 fight I can down a player then my teammate gets killed and now I'm in a 1v2 situation and the rallied player has his cooldowns pretty much reset and half of his hitpoints. Uses the heal skill once and it's like he just spawned back. Like seriously, what the hell is that ??? Sorry mate, but I simply cannot find any logic in your comment. In your opinion: either nothing should be changed or completely remove everything. I think you completely missed the point here, the idea is to have equal opportunities for everyone and down state is simply not equal and does not lead to a balanced game where there is a high amount of luck. Somebody mentioned the Rabid amulet and condi fights. Yes, that is a big problem, it takes an enormous amount of effort to take down a Scourge with Rabid + rune of the undead and then when he's down they can literally revive themselves by hitting you with their 1 skill. If it's a close fight and you get down by the Scourge it's a lost fight because they can now siphon health and you just simply cannot compete with that. If you cannot see these problems then, please don't take this as an insult, but you have no idea what competitive play means.
  24. OMG totally forgot about 2 people rezing and there's nothing you can do about it because some classes simply cannot keep a consistent 5k dps/s to counter it without being a total glass cannon. As for Ranger, I did not want to start a flame war, but it is absolutely ridiculous. Totally unbalanced. However, removing down state makes everyone equal so we also eliminate the problem of Ranger, no ?
