  1. I've read somewhere, gods I can't remember where that in some species of animal with sharp teeth that dwell underground it helps with shredding fungi and roots. Maybe that?
  2. I coukd see that, it's mostly human mixes but humans are easily the most diverse of the playable races. I'm wondering how none playable races would alter food tastes too speaking of.
  3. Speaking of racial disunity, a lot of places where different cultures mix produce unique foods all to themselves. Like a quest in XIV comes to mind in the cooking quests. Your helping a chef who's in love with a Doman (Chinese inspired) women, she loves him back but her dad's a fairly open racist. He goes on and on about how he owned a restaurant where they came from before having to leave because of war and no chef of any ethnicity other then Doman could ever compare to their expertise in the kitchen. Now the chef was from a city that had some trade with Doma and you figure out that a good number of traditional dishes from his homeland were actually inspired by the two cultures trading, culminating in you helping prepare a dish and lieing to the racist dude about its origin. Racist dude praises his skill in Doman cooking, completely surprised by how good it tastes before the chef pulls the rug out under him and gets him to admit he was wrong and open himself up to the idea of his daughter and the chef marrying. Long winded reply sorry. But it highlights how cultural mixing would create new cuisine. So lions arch may have a number of unique dishes and variations of different cultural dishes based entirely around how much trade happens and how many people from different places mingle and live together. I'd love to hear more lore about the way people interact and grow through new experiences, especially related to cooking!
  4. Hey! So I'm trying to get a grasp of what dishes or ethnic cuisines fit different regions, my questions being; Elona, I imagine their food would probably be north African or maybe even Indian in design? Based of course on the specific region and whether it had more water and crop variety Cantha: is it a straight mix of Asian cultures or is their one or a few regional cuisines that are more dominant? Echovald: speaking of, the people are asian in appearance but the architecture is very Gothic and the apparent culture was very different from Asian cultures from what I've been told, so who knows what food looked and tasted like here! Kryta: I feel like it would honestly be traditional European fare, variation based on location maybe more eastern European as you get to colder climates and more mediteranian the closer you get towards the southern coast line. Human ascalon: I always got Italian or Spain vibes from them so maybe the food is too? Charr ascalon: I figured lots of barbecue, top of the line meat smoking and ample use of strong spiced, theirs a lot of different peppers that show up in this area but, even as a charr, I feel like I'm lacking in specifics here. The grove: I'm intensely curious about them, do they sylvari eat like none plant people? Do they eat plant food? If they eat food like us, is salads or plant based foods frowned upon? (I can't really imagine this though considering we meat peoples eat meat, but they're young as far as races go so who knows their cultural view on it) Asura: they're previously a fully subterranean race, so do they base a large portion of their diet on fungi and tunneling creatures? Maybe insects? They're also the most technologically advanced race next to the charr (divergent paths as far as advancement aside) so maybe they've had artificial farms for so long whatever their pre civilization food staples were are long forgotten? Norn/shiverpeaks: they're hunters so I'd expect them to be more simple in their fare but I've also noticed a large portion of them are indeed chefs, further they have a robust culture of brewers and that takes time and care to perfect and produce so maybe their cuisine is fairly different depending on which holds they may be in or if they're put in the wild? If I'm missing any cultures please inform me and let me know what you think!
