  1. Disclaimer: It's a rant, I've included a tl;dr. Been playing Conquest in GW2 in order to farm my achievments for the Ascension and I'm absolutely baffled about the state of Conquest PvP in this game, it's as if nobody cares about it all. I've played all sorts of competitive games, WoW arenas/rbgs, soloq in League of Legends for 12 years already, StarCraft II ladder, and so on. And this is probably the only game I've tried to invest time in competition and realize that nobody gives a kitten. People AFK or intentionally wintrade every 3rd or 4th game I play, and no one seems to be getting banned, no matter how many reports anyone sends. Playing 4v5 unlike other games sometimes automatically forces you to lose in 90% of the times, which is as good as always. I've literally met a guy who dies at mid says he'll watch us lose, and people on the enemy team speak about how this is like their third time today with the same guy and he's always doing that. In any other game, be it so WoW or League, consistently disrupting ranked matches should net you with some kind of suspension but not here. I love this game, been into it since it was available for pre-order, but I have to quit it for months, after each part of the Ascension I do. Even notoriously famous toxic communities like League of Legends are at least addressing match manipulation. I've never seen anyone banned for that in GW2. I mean sure I'm not the greatest PvP player ever, I'm not saying I only lose because of AFKers, I've probably won some by them too, statistically, but I see myself as an above average gamer(dia in sc2/lol, 2k in wow). This is still the only game I've faced a stone wall in my progression that is complete disregard for trying to win, I'm near the end of the second part of the ascension, and roughly 54 games in, I've won 24 of them, in the 30 of my loses I've probably lost 10-12 by AFKers, give or take. Not new to this kind of behavior online either, LoL specifically is notorious for having players that intentionally lose, and yet by punishment the AFK percentage is still kept somewhat low. Is it lack of resources on the developer's part? That there is not a system in place to reduce idle players and match manipulation enough so one actually scarcely sees it. I mean, a system that can detect whether or not you circle base spawn, participate in one fight for the entire match duration and never stepping on any base, can literally instantly halve the amount of AFKers I encounter. In my 22 years of PC gaming I have never felt the need to write a forums rant post about any game, but come on, I really enjoy GW2, WoW is absoultely abandoned by it's developers and is a ship almost sunk, but all that enjoyment I get from all the other activities in the game, literally get dulled whenever I have to queue competitive games. It started because of the legendary back but I can see myself playing regularly every season, as a game I enjoy how it plays, and with a fitting community it can be a thing. Almost no one from the people I usually play GW2, plays PvP Conquest and I can see why. If dying games like WoW can have competitive arena and battleground play, why can't an arguably, imho better game like this, actually see Conquest become a thing? TL;DR, rant post, huge number of afk players in pvp conquest, love for the game getting killed because of how often that happens and no one is getting suspended for it, I love PvP.
