One of these requires time, effort, maybe a bit of research, and does not provide a list of dyes. The other is an instant 1:1. If someone wants to put in the work, you're right, we can't stop them, but at least they had to try. Just for context, there are people who will take others looks, and show up to community fashion contests with prizes, claiming the look as their own - sometimes with the person they stole it from being at the same show. It would feel wrong to reward/praise someone for something they put no effort into.

It's a compliment if someone actually gives a compliment. If someone likes it and asks for the pieces, I'll generally tell them. But straight up ripping it with dyes 1:1 with no effort to try to recreate it themselves can really feel invalidating to the work put in.

I think the feature is nice, but an opt-out would be nice too. I don't really want people to take looks I've spent hours on and slap them on like outfits with no effort on their end. I know it sounds silly, but getting good at fashion means something to us - we value not just the looks themselves but the work that went into them.

I don't think I could disagree harder if I tried -
I used to Comm for Silverwastes a lot, and I agree we're at the point where the legendaries and the bosses are too fragile. Legendaries go down like veterans and mastery hunters spend hours waiting for one to spawn, let alone be quick enough to tag one for the achievement. The final bosses don't even get to the part of the fight where the achievement can be obtained. You can ask people to slowly tag things, but it almost never happens. I've seen a lot of frustrated players over the years and the bosses are only getting easier. I don't see an issue with them perhaps raising the scaling on these enemies so that large groups can't delete them in a matter of seconds.

Thoughts about GW3 [Merged]
SuavePuppy.2809 replied to tzaeru.3742's topic in Guild Wars 2 Discussion
The one and only thing that would have me advocate for GW3 would be that they get the opportunity to start the coding clean from the ground up and it might actually see some optimization- 857 replies

Would you consider Palworld equivalent to GW2
SuavePuppy.2809 replied to uberkingkong.8041's topic in Guild Wars 2 Discussion
I don't want GW2 to be like Palworld. I can already just go play Palworld. -

I don't want to derail and make the whole thread about it, but I'll just try to touch on pMech. I think it got nerfed more than it needed to be. I have no problem with LI builds - I'm a Condi Shortbeast enjoyer when I'm feeling lazy. But it was simply performing much better than it should have been based on the effort required and how safely it did it's damage. It wasn't outperforming other classes, but it was so over centralizing that seeing a squad with 8 mechs was common, if not expected. One of the issues with this for me is the amount of visual noise that it added to squads - up to 8 extra big green guys just taking up space. Virtuoso has many of the same problems in my opinion, and should've been taken down a notch a while ago. I think there should be tradeoffs for DPS classes. In my opinion, highly volatile, risky, and complex classes should have a higher ceiling than relatively safe and easy classes like pMech, Scourge, or Virtuoso. It gives people an extra incentive to actually invest time into those classes instead of autopiloting towards the path of least resistance. I've asked myself many times why I bother even trying to play my Weaver when other classes perform just as well with much less risk. Again though, I think pMech was hit too hard, but I feel some of the complaints were valid. -
GW2 has serious design flaws

Dominion points = most things? Most of this game, objectively, does not need a flying mount -
GW2 has serious design flaws

"Now let me whine about the game not holding my hand through everything" Yes, because the wiki has never been incomplete or even sometimes non-existent for new content. Projection is a hell of a drug. And we've arrived in bait territory. We know there are problems with the game, but please take your conspiracy theories back over to ESO.- 88 replies

Need advice on how to get the God of PvP title
SuavePuppy.2809 replied to uberkingkong.8041's topic in Player vs. Player
That first paragraph is some primo copypasta material -
Some elite specs have more than one build that is considered to be meta. I think Metabattle does a fine job of making that clear and at a certain point you just have to pick one. Pick a role, pick a build that matches that role from the Recommended section, learn it, and no one will call you out for low DPS. It sounds like you are expecting the build they recommend to do all the work for you - your ability to perform the role is much less reliant on the build than it is on your skill and knowledge. The DPS benchmarks between high tier builds is minimal - you are better off getting good at the one you like than hoping the build does it all for you. They are all more than acceptable, and they are all dependant on the context of the fight.

Forced Character Level Boost?
SuavePuppy.2809 replied to Shonen.6304's topic in Players Helping Players
1) The boosts included with the expansions level you up to 80, so that's not the case here. 2) If/when you log in, were there a bunch of level up rewards waiting to be claimed? 3) If you go to the Hero Panel and click Outfits, you can see what your actual armor looks like and see if it matches what you remember. Is it possible you misremember what level you were at? There are some scrolls you can get that boost your toon to level 20/30/40/50 so perhaps you used one of those. Either way, your level won't affect your story progression or anything. -
[Suggestions]QoL (Quality of Life) Ideas [Merged]
SuavePuppy.2809 replied to ginryu.3026's topic in Guild Wars 2 Discussion
Conceptually I don't mind the idea of a collection achievement or mastery that allows one to craft a passenger seat for their mounts, but I also don't see why they would implement that. It would involve coding and animating all for the end goal of having more free to play players not invest in the expansions to get their own flying mounts. Seems unproductive for them to do it. -
So it seems the Recommended category includes builds that have been specifically selected as current meta picks, while the number ratings are based on community ratings. So, choose a build from the Recommended category. There's really no "best" for many elite specializations - it's all about context and the rest of your party. But if you really want Metabattle to recommend 1 specific build for you (for Guardian for example), go to Build -> Guardian, scroll down to Fractals, and pick the highest rated build there. Beyond that, when it comes to fulfilling roles, you're going to have to communicate with your party. There's really no way around that. No one should be assuming what build anyone else is on in the current meta game. In a game where all classes can fill several roles, assuming what someone is playing is silly.

Just so I understand, is this what you're asking for: Build Popularity Rating - Meta / Common / Rare / Niche

When it comes to Duo Professions, on one hand, I don't hate these ideas, I'm just not sure if GW2 is the game for them. On the other hand, given how I haven't felt terribly engaged with the game systems for awhile, I wouldn't complain if they went in this direction. I know people have also requested being able to slot in skills similar to GW1, and again, could be cool and make things at least feel fresh, but I don't know if it could actually be properly realized in this game. But I do also think the combat mechanics are probably well fleshed out at this point and what is needed is more dynamic mechanics to overcome enemies.
