  1. They could always make on OW leg ring to collect. Mind you, I'm not say they should, but that could serve as a future "carrot".
  2. Oh...adding on: I love the wolf skins. They were a nice surprise to the game. I would love to see Warclaw sped up to raptor/jackal speed in PvE so we could see more of those skins shown off in open world. (probably outside the scope of this thread) And the various theme groups finished out would be nice (Aurene, geode, darkmist, etc.). I really like the Kintsugi and Scaled Hellcat/wing skins and would love to complete those "sets". As some have said, bears and dolyaks would be great. I really like the various unique animals skins like the Auroch and Primal Spirit , etc.
  3. My daughter loves the axolotl skyscale, and it made me wonder why there isn't a raptor one as well. I was very happy to see new Skimmer skins finally.
  4. Those are good improvements. Thanks for the info. I wondered what would happen on previous seasons if I ended up picking the same one twice.
  5. I don't understand the map completion change. I'd love to know if this is a bug or the new normal. Otherwise, so far so good. It all looks really enjoyable.
  6. I would have loved to see some sort of armor plating down the tail. Very few pieces alter the tail appearance and this seemed like it would have been a good opportunity for that. Either way, I'm happy feedback was taken and acted upon.
  7. Mind you, you'll feel how you feel. But (for my part) that wasn't my point. You still get rewards. Just not bonus rewards. But in the end, it's not like those bonus rewards make or break fun (again, imo). They're just that. A slight bonus. There are tons of ways to rush your brother's progress. Jump on a mesmer or a turtle mount and you can get your brother to a lot of spots he would otherwise need to wait on. If you want ascended gear, just throw some of your gold at his account. It doesn't cost overly much to max out a crafting profession. And then each ascended piece is about 30-35g. Speaking for me, the rewards aren't the fun of playing with family. In the end, it's a game. Explore the world. Follow along. He's still seeing those bosses. He's still getting rewards. The maps are still beautiful. Edit: oh, and to add: if you are on NA and need help at any point, just reach out if you see me on.
  8. You get a choice of 4, but it's still possible to not want any of the choices. In that case, it's still worth picking up for the Gift of Magic or Gift of Might, to use in crafting whatever other legendary you prefer (imo). Just pick the starter kit up later in that case, after whatever you think is a higher priority.
  9. While that does sound frustrating (I can sympathize, I play with my family members when they feel like it), a change in perspective may help. As opposed to wanting him to do things at your speed, slow down to his. If he can't get across a ravine or something for example (PoF) take the longer route and work with him to get those points he needs for longjump (as an example I played through). Realize that your mastery level isn't the default. There are ways around all or most of this obviously, but there is something to be said for re-experiencing the game through a slower play-through. The extra loot from those chests doesn't really count for much. And knowing what you know, you can help him make better decisions on where to spend his initial mastery points to improve his play-through experience.
  10. I don't actually understand the misunderstanding here. There is a difference between threads on OW legendary armor and threads on "it doesn't have to look good, we want OW Legendary" threads. This whole thing tho seems non-productive at this point and certainly doesn't contribute in any meaningful way to the thread. So, I'm sorry for my part of this tangent.
  11. Ha. There were lots and lots of threads on OW legendary armor. There were not (to my recollection) repeated threads on "I don't care what OW legendary armor will look like". That was my only sticking point in your response above.
  12. I was involved in more than a few over the last couple of years as well. I won't check because there are literally dozens or more threads that went on for hundreds of pages (adding them together). I'm on here for general discussion and my own entertainment. Not for doing hours of search work. And I don't actually think you are being disingenuous. I thought part of this statement (just the first half): was never really a thread point. I completely agree the second half was. That's what this was my initial response: It was in fact a genuine question.
  13. That's actually fair. I was thinking about base appearance and not whether or not it would have particles or animations. Still, I think that was more of a minor side point here and there and never the actual points of the threads. They were always whether or not OW leg armor even had a reason to exist. And if the thread went further it was "what sorts of OW activities should go into it". Like I said, I'm going from memory and have no desire to do a deep dive/search into the last several years of threads on the topic.
  14. 100%. That's entirely what I was referring to. Oh I don't plan on doing a search. I think the "it doesn't have to look good, we want OW Legendary" idea was made up to make a disingenuous point for this thread. Time length and activities and costs were discussed over and over again. Appearance really never came up. Again, going from memory.
  15. realized that the Gen3 base variants were ridiculously easy to get, so I got them and the Soo Won variants while EoD was still fresh. After gathering everything else for the Obsidian set I'm left rebuilding my Spirit shard horde... And I get that. That's why I picked up my second sword (Bolt) and mace (Moot). I crafted Quip for my second pistol from one of those kits too. I just only have a single character (each) right now that use the Torch and Warhorn. I'm holding off until next week to see the WV change to decide on what to craft (weapon-wise) next. Personally, I think I have 5 gen 3 weapons. I crafted a 6th, but sold it to but a permanent stylist kit. They are relatively easy to make somewhat consistently. But I was never sitting on a horde of spirit shards, so I've been having to earn them as I go after I crafted my first few legendaries.
  16. Genuine question: was there any "it doesn't have to look good, we want OW Legendary" threads? I don't recall looks ever coming up in those threads. There were plenty of threads discussing time length/activities required as well as costs. I just can't remember any of the weekly/monthly threads with any significant amount of posters saying they didn't care about appearance.
  17. It'd be nice to have let's say 4 core objectives, and then 1 expansion objective added for each expansion you own. That would allow someone to do 3/4 like normal, but have a wider selection. But either way, I', also really curious to see what they do with this.
  18. Go you. That's impressive. I was doing a ton of WvW for a while. I got 2 Confluxes and Warbringer from there and was working on armor. I wanted the second tier chest armors. But SotO came out and completely broke my WvW characters builds and I haven't been back to play much there in the last few months. I think I have enough mats built up to craft 1 full set (or at least most of one) when they come out next week. Depending on what that last achievement entails. I salvaged and sold off the mats from my 88 relic boxes that I got for my level 60 characters. I don't know yet whether I will bother with the T2 variant since for me it's more a QoL thing. I do like a few of the skins on the new pieces though from the pics released this week. So I may end up crafting a couple of pieces from each set, depending on what will fit my character appearance preferences.
  19. I'm still trying to finish out my weapons (I just have a torch and warhorn to go plus the 3 aquatics). I was crafting about a legendary a month pre-SotO. Now it looks like one every 2-3 months. And my playing habits haven't changed all that much.
  20. I get it. Me too. SotO releasing really stifled my legendary crafting journey. My gold acquisition far outpaced my spirit shard accumulation to the point that I outright bought 2 legendaries instead of crafting them.
  21. I've had the same issue as the OP. This is from one of my posts from a Nov last year: The difference in acquisition speed is huge. And obviously for the people sitting on thousands of shards, this has never made a difference. But it makes a huge difference for anyone that actually needs them. Without characters birthdays, it was 683 spirit shards in 47 days compared to 161. Personally I've somewhat solved it by having to dedicate a day here for there to spirit shard farming. But that wasn't something I ever had to do (or even consider) before.
  22. Also seconding (thirding?) this. The idea of having to run maintenance on a legendary every 3 months is really bothersome. And while some argue that unlocking relics is easy, coming back from a break is not going to be so. Or at least will be time consuming. I've done all of the SotO content generally (all story, each strike and meta, etc). I still have a couple of the relics to unlock. I had to go and look up what specifically needs to get done for them. I don't particularly want to keep running through the content I got bored of a while ago. The legendary rune was supposed to solve that particular step for me. So for me personally, the new direction is a fairly large downgrade in enjoyment.
  23. Just adding, this was really easy on mechanist with speed buffs (elixir B) and shift signet. Very easy clear time.
