  1. A couple of days ago, i decided to take each of my character with my various builds and equipment to the training area and just see how they compare to each other. These are all open world builds for mainly soloing, hero points, Champions, dailies, etc so they are not pure DPS but have a component to survive as well. For that reason i did not add any buffs, as in OW you just have your own buffs you get during fights (i did not bother with food, sharpening stones etc either) and just had a basic golem. For some builds that i felt cleared mobs much faster, the results were clear but there were also surprises. Mostly, i noticed that the condi builds had on average low DPS. I would then assume that perhaps the DPS meter in the training area looks more at burst damage and doesn't take into account damage over time that well? Also a lot of condi builds shine with multiple mobs. One outlier was my Condi Virtuoso who had by far the highest DPS, which surprised me. The reaper and vindicator especially after the last patch sis not surprise me as i felt the mobs melting away so quickly. All my thief builds had very low DPS which might also have to do with my lack of playing them much but it was such a big difference of almost 10,000 DPS which surprised me. Also, all my ranger builds were low and the power Chrono build was the worst. Do you guys have any experience or insight on this? In summary, i guess it reflects my level of experience with each class and build and possibly the lack of simulating the multitude of mobs in open world that condi builds clear out faster.
  2. Thank you for all the insights and tips. I managed to get the warclaw by now and also invested some points into gliding. I stick to the roaming people, looking to get the mercs or attacking some camps. I also saw that the population was quite different after last week's beta and there were actually huge pvp battles going on.
  3. Yes, they need to look at full counter and its uses. For solo play it is great. I also tried it yesterday to see how it fares with the updates and it is definitely much better than before. However, when you have group content and you are not the only target anymore, you are actually worse off. Full counter is then only usable from time to time, which basically removes the special mechanic of the spellbreaker. If they add, as suggested above, that after the cast you can manually release it, then this is a "minor" Bladesworn in the end. You charge and then hit after charging up. Maybe it should be more linked to "others" in your group getting hit and it procs of that, if that is at all possible. Then you keep the same functionality of it being a reactive skill but you can still use it in the group. Although if you casually just tag along a group, without being in party/squad/raid, then I am not sure how they would do that but then again, I am sure they can figure something out there.
  4. I play both and i enjoy both. They are a bit different in pay style. The harbinger, you have your gun that's almost as fast as a machine gun shooting out green lasers. Super fun. And you have the. Your elixirs and blight that you have to balance by stacking blight and then going into shroud and unloading and using up that blight for insane burst damage. You are a bit on the squishy side, especially for a necromancer, unless you use minions, which if you want to take on champions etc. makes you really strong. The bladesworn. Many people don't understand it. Many people are against it and still are. Now bladesworn is starting to become meta because people figured out how it works. I always keep hearing the complaint how much it is rooted. Yes, you have the dragon trigger that you need to fill up. It's like putting your car on maximum throttle and then letting it go. But i actually feel it flows very quickly. You attack with your axe and pistol and then go to your gun saber which just slashes and shoots due to the ammo style and is super fast. Then you have enough flow go to dragon trigger. You can fill it up to full 10 charged but unless you're fighting some tough boss or elite, you won't need the full charge for most mobs, even veterans. It's super satisfying to see you either slash or slide through your enemies and they all drop after that. So, both are fun. One is a caster and the other obviously melee. I would recommend trying them out how they play in pvp lobby or watching some YouTube to see the gameplay before committing.
  5. Thank you for all this info. Reading through all that but I'm not clear yet on the purpose/objective of the different maps. There is the eternal battlegrounds, 3x color coded borderlands. And then edge of the mists. Do i need to complete a map or achieve something before going to the next? Or i just randomly choose. Can one see from the opening screen where the most action is happening at the moment ?
  6. Thank you for the insight. I will then rather focus on the smaller groups instead of these huge groups that does not seem for me. I don't mind the one on one fights as i enjoy it in pvp. I noticed, however, that unlike pvp you don't have standard Equipment, so proper gear seems important. I will give it another try. Any suggestions to find people for smaller groups?
  7. Having gone through several things to do over the past months, and with the current WvW restructuring happening, i decided to try it a bit. I tried years ago but very shortly. Firstly, lost. Secondly, I'm so slow. Flashback to pre-POF GW2 where you need swiftness to get around. Ok ,grwat, i found a veteran guard. Let's beat him up. Cool i did something and got rewards. On we go. Some people keep shouting some abbreviations in chat. No idea but i see a commander tag up. Let me try to get there. I get ganked about 3 times before i manage to get there. I found a big blop of my people and they all have wolves or something and are fast. Somehow with them I'm also faster. We go. Somewhere. Beat up a champ. We leave and go somewhere else. Beat up another. Where are the other players? And i can't see anything with the blop of people around me. After about 2 hours of trying this. I log out. I think, unless there's something else to this, i prefer PVE or PVP which is smaller scale and i know the objectives.
  8. Hi thank you for this. You were right. It said required level 60. Anything above did not work. Now i switched it out to a level 80.
  9. ok, thank you. I will check what the item actually is and the level.
  10. Hmm, I'll have to check. Either way if it's exotic don't they all fit the same upgrades?
  11. Whenever there is a problem I like to zoom out a bit and look at the overall picture. Firstly, I like the rifle changes. For years this was neglected and the pistol is still being neglected and now it is at least fun to play, although if you just afk it is super boring. Secondly, these super important benchmarks, the thing that is the most important thing for (well for those who seem to care), are all in the high 30k or 40k. Taking this in context: 1) If you raid/fractals, etc. if a player afks, I suppose the will get kicked and with 28k will the group want them? 2) If you go open world, what does it matter what the player next to you does? You do your thing, they do their thing. If they AFK during a group content but still contribute to kill the thing, who cares? 3) If you afk in PVP or WvW you are dead anyways. In essence, who really cares about this? I mean I get it, you are upset someone does nothing and gets 28k and you break your fingers with some specs and get 35k maybe. But that is all in theory because in a proper setting the AFK player either doesn't matter or gets kicked. Also, real mobs/players don't just stand there. Isn't it a waste of energy to complain about something that doesn't affect you or does not have a real practical effect? If someone wants to play something easy let them. For years, we have had everyone always recommend minion Necro or Ranger for Open World cause it was super easy with a pet/minion. Now the Engineer got a pet, it tanks, its easier to play. For me personally, I prefer a more engaging play style but some like it, or want to chill, or need to have simple mechanics to be able to play. You know what you are getting into when choosing to play an elementalist or a core engineer, or an untamed, or a mesmer, or a thief. Some of those builds/specs are challenging and require practice to play them well. Others are more beginner-friendly. I think it is nice to have options and different ways to play. That is why I don't understand the current drive and all the cries to always make everything the same. I want to have different classes that play differently. I want them to have different boons. I want to be able to switch around and feel I am playing something different. If all is the same, then delete 8 classes and keep 1, oh and then just one spec as well, so everyone can do, let's say 35k DPS. I think the balancing should be much more focused on looking at broken traits/skills/weapons and figuring out ways to fix them to be enjoyable. Afterall, and reading their news about the 10th anniversary and steam, that was their mantra when they started GW. Fun. So, instead of always nerfing all to the ground and removing skills or reducing their effectiveness so that it becomes unplayable, rather get all to play better. The most recent preview for the next balance round seems a bit of an easy fix as they are actually giving the rifle treatment to some other weapons. I hope they have another round and actually look at traits and skills to make every class and various builds enjoyable. This also calms down people. You want to feel your character is the "Commander" who just entered battle and turned the tide. You don't want to stand next to another "Commander" with 4dps while they slaughter 500 mobs in the meantime. If all enjoy, then there is less bickering and calls for nerfs.
  12. Thank you. It is an orange item (Exotic). I will try an infusion in any case, perhaps that is what would work.
  13. Since EOD launch I have tried Untamed here and there after unlocking it. Ranger is not my main profession nor one of the most played. However, as I like different alts, and play styles, I played with Untamed as well. It has a very high damage with disabling traits and combos, however, when using hammer and the ranger is unleashed you need disabling skills and are supposed to deal more damage as the ranger than when the pet is unleashed. The problem is, there are no disabling skills on the hammer when unleashed. Ok, so you take the pets that can provide you that disabling effect. Rock Gazelle, Wyvern, etc. For some reason those skills are super laggy. I feel like when I press them, I can take a space ship, travel to the moon, and back before I see something happen and then use the skills that benefit from the disabling. The game style is much smoother while keeping the pet unleashed. You have the disabling skills on the hammer and then the pet skills benefit and within seconds any veteran or even elite are down. I don't really see myself switching much to unleash ranger except for the ambush ability, also since the hammer skills are on the same cooldown. It makes more sense to switch to another weapon (Greatsword, for example) and unleash there because you have the cc skills and can benefit at least from the unleash ranger traits. Do you guys have the same issues, or am I missing something? Any tips? thank you.
  14. I got this Rox's Quiver Backpack and there is an upgrade slot. However, no matter what gems, jewels, crests I try to add, it does not work. Is this a bug or is there a specific item only that can go there? I looked at other back items I had and I was able to apply various jewels. I am at a loss. If someone would know, that would be great. Thank you.
  15. I think there is little point to pick a class based on being the best there is. You should pick the one that you enjoy playing. The mechanics that you enjoy. And whether you want to have a caster type or more melee or a pet class. If you enjoy it the nerfs/changes won't really be that important.
  16. Yes. Several actually. When the game first came out, i created a Mesmer (most unique and intriguing design for me at the time), as well as an Engineer and a Guardian. I pretty much rotated through them and they have about the same game time and world completion with the Mesmer slighty more. After the Lion's arch attack i had huge problems with loading the game up and in addition to real life i then stopped playing for a while. When i returned there was HOT and POF. I had quite some catching up to do and then also leveled a Thief, Necro, and Rev. Shortly before EOD I then leveled a Ranger, Warrior, and Elementalist. Since then I have unlocked all Elite specs and played with them all. Which ones do i enjoy? Mesmer: Virtuoso, Core, Mirage, Chrono Engineer: Mech, Holo, Scrapper, i would have to revisit core but they would need to rework kits and skills/traits a bit Guardian: Willbender, Core (I played firebrand quite a bit but am firebranded out, Dragon hunter never really worked for me) Thief: Daredevil, (Deadeye I want to like but you either use pistols to spam or the rifle with all the utilities but then your a bit immobile, Specter i do not like) Necro: Scourge, Harbinger Revenant: Renegade, Vindicator Warrior: Bladesworn, Spellbreaker, Berserker (let's see how much those Aug 23 changes do to get at least the weapon attacks of SpB and Bsk up to par with BLS. Also, Spellbreaker is great fun solo but as soon as you have a group or fighting a boss full counter loses effectiveness and use). Elementalist: Tempest, Catalyst, Weaver (Elementalist as with Mesmer is a nice complex playstyle that is rewarding when in the mood). Ranger: Untamed, Soulbeast (don't like Druid although I must probably give it another go and see how useful it is with all this support/healing focus). So, yes. I enjoy quite a few classes and specs. I hope that Anet does not remove the uniqueness of each class with this current drive to make every class do the dame, provide the same boons, have the same type of utilities etc. It is nice to switch and see different playstyles.
  17. Thank you. I will have to check if my other skins work then. I just put the default for now and all is well. Of course, it is quite annoying to not be able to use the skins purchased. If this cannot be resolved in a reasonable amount of time, a refund will be necessary.
  18. I don't think it is that simple and productive to just always ask to nerf a profession. I just play casually but for my playstyle i see that no matter which EOD elite Profession i switch to, i do quite well and the mobs melt. I see little difference between my Mech, Bladesworn, Catalysts, Virtuoso, Harbinger, Willbender, Vindicator, Untamed, Specter. They should look into core and older elite specs to bring them up to par. Lately, i really tried with Berserker and Spellbreaker. It was fun. But then i switched to Bladesworn and i felt like a super hero compared to them. I rarely used the rifle with engineer (one of my first characters) before the recent rifle upgrade. I just didn't like it. I used grenades, bomb kit, elixir gun, or the other elite weapons. Now the Mechanist has the pet tanking which is why most think it's so simple. As for utility, those who don't play engineer don't realize you lose all the toolbelt skills as a Mechanist. Those complaining about PvP. I have tried different professions there as well. Also the Mechanist. You can get stunlocled by certain professions either way no matter what class. Or melted down. People probably see that green mech and just think that's why. Catalyst was nerfed. No idea why. Mech got nerfed, then got the rifle and got nerfed right after again. All these nerfs just take away the fun of playing something. Buff others. Not always take away. You keep taking away what's left? Just keep one profession then so all are the same.
  19. Happy i found this thread. It kept happening with the skyscale lately. With the other mounts I was able to just mount up. I thought it may be a way for them to force us to use the other mounts again :). But then some of my characters had other skyscale skins and it was fine. I will just use the default skin and if that works then I'll try again in a month and see if it works. If not then i guess they can refund all the skins bought. Edit: I changed to the default skin and i do not have the issue anymore. So clearly the rendering with skins needs to be looked at. If that's not possible, then I'd like a refund on the skins i did purchase. Thank you.
  20. I have not posted much on this forum and am quite new to the warrior but wanted to post here. 300 second cool downs, 5 minutes, is just useless. This is for traits that are supposed to enhance the profession. A trait, or two in this case, that are available once maybe twice during a match are useless. Forget this is the warrior, just zoom out a bit and think about the general play-style and fun for any profession. Might as well reduce all traits for all professions to 300 second cool downs and let them just fight with their weapons. Doesn't sound like fun or anything special? It isn't. 1) Reduce the cooldowns 2) Rework the traits if you don't like them the way they are 3) Remove them and put something else Keeping them as a placeholder that no one will use, unless they did not read the tool tip is just silly.
  21. Rifle, wow, just wow. Engineer was my first character but today i had the most fun with the class ever. The rifle feeling is just great. Jump shot with rocket boots and the new QOL tweaks to the mech. Great stuff.
  22. I levelled my warrior just before EOD release and then went right away for the Bladesworn Elite Spec. I have played since 2012 but never levelled a warrior before that. It just did not seem to interest me. At the moment it is my favorite profession as I have also tried out Berserker and Spellbreaker. Bladesworn is really a lot of fun and I play it in PVE (Open World) and PVP. I have tried different variations but Strength is definitely a traitline I keep because it adds so much synergy to Bladesworn for me. For the other traitline I tried Discipline, Arms, and Tactics. Discipline is very nice as it reduces the cooldowns of the burst skills and the weapon swapping. You also have some condition cleanse build in. With Arms you increase your crit chance and have the 100% with Burst Precision. Unless you fight a tough boss I don't think it is worth it. If my full Dragon Slash crits for 70k or more it really makes no difference in general open world play. Most mobs die with much less and veteran/elite mobs also die quite fast. So I did not find the Arms traitline to be that valuable for my playstyle. Tactics gives you synergy with Might Generation and Shouts -Undying Dragon and Might Makes Right. That increases your sustain quite a bit. I have not tried the Defense traitline yet with Bladesworn but my Spellbreaker build has it and I love it. Armored Attack and Cleansing Ire really help you out with sustain. I would need to test it out but Discipline remains my favorite line together with Strength for open world so far. As for the Bladesworn traitline, I also usually use Swift as the Wind because of its synergy with the physical Skills and Brave Stride (the stability is very important as you also mentioned because of the dragon trigger charging) as well. You can keep your flow rate going very "swiftly." For the Major Master I have been testing this still. Unshakable Mountain is great and probably my favorite but I also like Lush Forest. for the recharge reduction of the skills. For the GrandMaster I tried them all and the unblockable and daze and might synergy of Unyielding Dragon is just amazing. You charge it up and heal with Might Makes Right. Immortal Dragon gives you sustain but I feel this is your big weapon and you have other ways to heal instead of nerfing your own Dragon Slash. I also tried Daring Dragon and it works for trash mobs because you go in and out of dragon trigger so quickly and charge up fast but in the end it becomes a very fast-paced chaotic playstyle. I feel with the other two options you can strategize a bit more and guess what, you don't need to charge to 10 ammos on the dragon slash. If you have some trash mobs 4 or 5 is sufficient to wipe them out. As to the weapons, I like the Axe Mainhand and the pistol offhand because of the ammo skills and the aegis and the burst (plus the pistol is the Bladesworn weapon). However, axe/axe can also very strong and fun as with any warrior build. Sometimes I feel I am missing range, so the rifle also synergizes well with the ammo skills. Plus you have the Gunsaber for close quarters. The best thing in PVE or PVP is bulls charge, unloading the pistol and gunsaber, charging your dragon slash and seeing everything drop or being dazed for another round of gunsaber bashing. It is just such a fun profession
