  1. Warhorns, torches and scepters are not weapons. GW2 trying to make them weapons is one the most stupid things. Staves aren't even weapons in the way that GW2 uses them. The GW2 team should just dump staves and use free hand magic. Staves as a weapon are heavy heartwood and are a cheap replacement for spears, hammers and halberds, especially in cultures where the population was forbidden from owning an actual weapon. It would be nice to see the addition of halberds and spears as well as free hand casting without a weapon.
  2. Situational Awareness is a lost art...... I used to laugh at all the shooters and brawlers where people get tunnel vision, and get killed by a dinkly ranged enemy (Halo Grunts being the most hilarious by far). Now I just weep, because its become the norm. Because everyone always has perfect situational awareness all the time, especially you, the Paragon of Situational Awareness. You have never made the same mistakes that we fallible mortals have.
  3. Why is the DCing part of the features of the fight? What? I'm saying it should be marked as spoilers as the OP mentions killing Balthazar, and while the majority of us probably assumed that's how things would end up, there's numerous other ways the Balthazar situation could have ended, so stating that Balthazar is killed could be quite a big spoiler to some. A big spoiler if you're like 6 years old.
  4. Nothing new to do. No new types of gameplay. Lack of content. Maps are boring, empty and pointless. Aggro mobs are not content and don't make a map less empty. Immersive interactive content is what makes a map full. The content that you haven't ever created, preferring to just copy paste the same pointless aggro mob killing kitten over and over again. The story could not have been worse or more railroaded. I'd be fine with a short story if it was well written and really made me feel like I had agency and actually accomplished something on my own verse another reliance on deus ex machina at every step. "Victory was taken from you by writer fiat. Now it’s being foisted on you by writer fiat." The events which still reward less than the cost of a port aren't even worth farming, especially considering how long they take to do. All the aesthetic content seems to have been axed and put on the gem store. Meta events wouldn't save the content because meta events are crap. Meta events turn players into cogs rather than individual players which is the same reason why I dislike raids and Fractals. I don't want to be just another person wailing on a mob using cheat codes to pump up its stats and give it bs immunities. That isn't fun for me and I have never once understood how or why players enjoy doing that in raids and fractals. At least in normal events you actually feel like you are making a difference individually for the 5 minutes that the ride lasts before the game resets and completely undermines all the effort you put in to save the npcs from being killed by Joko's minions. PoF is only better than HoT because HoT was the absolute bottom of the barrel when it comes to game expansions. There has never been a worse expansion than HoT.
  5. Facebook sickness and/or envy - a bad combination.I see people driving around sports cars. I do not drive a sports car. Heck, I even take the bus (we have Mercedes Benz' though^^) because it's cheap and fast with the permanently full car parks in my city.. But that does not get me depressed. Neither that I am not earning 10.000€, or that I am not owning a house. Or that I am not Hercules. Heck, I won't even get the Griffon, but I am good with that, I have my bunny-kangaroo. But would I start to play less just because others have nifty things? Not at all. Do you go out less on the streets when you see people with expensive watches on their wrist or do you avoid public roads when a Lamborghini overtakes you at the street? With all the bling bling around, I appreciate more and more the average player look. Since I am wearing plain clothes in game as well. In Rata Sum I see people looking like a flashing christmas tree. Then I see an Asura Engineer that looks...like an Engineer. Or that Charr Warrior without gem store wings. Just a martial feline. Beautiful. Maybe you are one of the sane ones by looking normal instead of looking like a cockatoo? If you look at your character, and what she has done, do you really need those status symbols? The analogy of real life and video games is becoming closer and closer since both is melting into each other with artificial facebook friends you'll never meet and video game friends you also won't meet. People with the iPhone X, my uncle has one, think they are the most kitten on the block. We all laugh about such stupidity. Strip all the gem store bling bling and you will often see ill-mannered people covering insecurities or a condescending attitude. I am sure you can charm as person. S Except that your analogy is off. The better analogy is that you paid for a full car, only to find out that the car was actually missing 3 of the 4 seats, the wheel was a rough cut wood that gives you splinters every time you touch it, the pedals were shabby plastic that constantly got stuck, etc. and the only way to get the car you actually paid for at the quality you paid for was to hand over MORE money. That is what the gem store is. Video games are a visual experience, the visual is in the name video.
  6. The fact that all the mount skins are acquired by forking over money is appalling. PoF is already severely lacking in content compared to the cost. This is just a shameful display by Anet. The greediness Anet has displayed with GW2 since even its initial launch is why I have never once recommended GW2 to any of my friends. WoW, at $15/month was a better deal than this. At least it was until the Blizzard's execs decided to limit flying and then blamed the players for Blizzard's decision to limit flying when the actual reason Blizzard limited flying was very clearly financial. That was far more appalling to me but Anet's money grubbing was already too much. Yes, businesses exist to make money. But I am not a business when I play a game, I am a consumer. So what matters to me and should matter to everyone else is whether they feel they are getting sufficient value for their money. For me, PoF (and HoT) were not sufficient value for money. Anet's policy of requiring customers to fork over ADDITIONAL money on top of what they already paid just to have their character look the way they want is unforgivable and has been unforgivable since GW2 launched and required you to pay real money just to make your armor have the skin you wanted.
  7. Except that GW2 and MMOs have always FOCUSED on cosmetic items as MMOs don't let you interact with the world and they don't offer immersive experiences. MMOs are all visual. Restricting visual content to pay store only means there is nothing out of the pay store. I recently bougth HoT and PoF. Both feel completely empty and pointless as they are just a few maps and really nothing else. The maps themselves are the same shit we had in the vanilla game, except that the HoT maps are actually significantly worse as they are narrow corridors that are a pain to move around in. There are no new experiences to be had. No new types of gameplay. No new anything really. At least with WoW they kept experimenting with new types of gameplay with each expansion.
  8. WoW also used to let you be an unkillable self healing tank before they nerfed Death Knights into the dirt in Cataclysm. That took all the fun out of the game for me. Being a Titan of Destruction is fun for me, being a peon is the antithesis of fun.
  9. That doesn't work. See the player has no agency. So the player isn't allowed to choose how they approach the fight. If you want godlike enemies then you need to give your players the ability to form an army to take on this enemy with or to become a godlike being themself. We are denied both of those options. So the only reason why this fight is hard is because we aren't allowed to play our character. We are forced to play an idiot with no power who never tries to acquire power. Imagine this like a PnP game. Some players will just run up to the dragon and try to stick it with a sword. Some players will prepare for the fight ahead of time, studying and learning about their enemy, preparing, laying traps, hiring NPCs, filling up their spellbooks with utility spells, acquiring fire resistant armor, etc. Now imagine the DM in the game with the players who want to prepare just straight up says, "NOPE. Your characters do no preparation and run up to the dragon with their sword and try to stab it. The dragon kills you. You should have prepared."
  10. Using mounts is more fun. Why are people against fun? If you see someone with a mount and you want one, you can do like we did and hand Anet some cash. Otherwise you are just going to have to run on your feet while we run on our cute raptors. That's life. Some people use sneakers, some use bikes, some use Hondas and some use Mercedes. Should we limit everyone to sneakers just because not everyone owns a Mercedes?
  11. Involving Charr at all made this spec a nonstarter. I hate Charr. THe species summoned should have matched the species of the player. So a Sylvari would summon Sylvari, a human humans, etc.
  12. The extra challenge should be the reward. If those players really say that they want the game more challenging because they enjoy challenge, then the higher challenge is their reward. They shouldn't get an extra special reward just for taking on the challenge that they wanted. If they also demand an extra special reward then they were very clearly lying about wanting more challenge.
  13. None. Adding another race would be a waste of resources. I'd much rather see race unique content in expansions. Also most of the other species are horribly ugly and stupid and would ruin my gameplay experience even more if I had to see more of them than I already do.
  14. I disagree with the OPer. Nothing is more fun than flying around. PvP sucks and every game would be better off removing it than trying to force PvE content to bend to PvP. I also hate jumping puzzles. The fewer I have to do the happier I am.
