  1. I haven't bought SoTo yet, and can tell you, weaponmaster training is not available. What if you have SoTo only without the other expacs and unlock weaponmaster training you can use the elite epex weapons. This is also what's written on the wiki in the weaponmaster training page.
  2. Enhancement Shammy was so fun and sadly I still can't find a profession here that's similar in both theme and playstyle. I've been told Weaver is similar but I'm having a hard time getting into it honestly. A lot of times going the support dps route is a bit more relaxed imo. It depends on the elite spec because sometimes they can be more tedious. The reason why a lot of PUGs will be asking for quick dps or alac dps is because they are key boons that are pretty much a requirement in team comps (they're just too good to not have). Also playing those builds on an elite spec doesn't really differ much from the full dps. Let's take Herald as an example, there are 2 popular builds you can play as Herald: 1- Pure DPS Power Herald: This build does around 38k dps under a perfect rotation. You use your facet skills in Glint stance to maintain some damage modifiers while doing your rotation. 2- Power Quickness Herald Support: This build does around 30k dps under a perfect rotation. You change a trait so your facets give quickness in addition to their other effects essentially. You use your facet skills in Glint stance to give their normal boons and damage modifiers in addition to the newly traited quickness. Rotation is very similar to pure dps but you'll do around 8k dps lower. As you can see Offensive support builds and pure dps builds don't really have to be that different and to be honest based on experience commanding and co-commanding raids, anything above 20-25k dps is more than enough to clear everything in the game.
  3. Well in GW2 roles are pretty much divided into three categories (as you probably know but I'll list them just in case you don't): 1- Pure DPS 2- Defensive Support (pretty much healers with a focus on defensive boons, maybe some offensive ones and utility) 3- Offensive Support (pretty much a DPS with a focus on one of 2 key boons [Alacrity or Quickness], offensive boons and utility) I'm curious to understand a bit more your position on why you dislike playing offensive support? Unless its about the rotation/playstyle you're basically playing a DPS with two key differences: lower dps and rotation is focused on providing the key boon while doing your rotation. As a player similar to you that played DPS roles mostly (was a Rogue & Enhancement Shaman in WoW), I felt playing quick or alac dps wasn't all that different from playing a DPS other than I'm providing a key boon. I understand if you're joining a group that's asking for DPS and then being told to switch to quick or alac dps then that's annoying. How does playing let's say an Alac Renegade differ from just playing a pure DPS Renegade to you (other than the obvious different gear set)?
  4. Raptor at level 10 and the adventure guide were added with the steam release near the end of August. Dagger/dagger is pretty good while leveling. You'll mostly be using skill 5 to stealth and reposition to to the back of enemies for backstab from stealth. Then use skill 2 when the enemy is at 50% hp or lower to finish them off. Sword is honesty not in the best place for PvE, however is still quite good in PvP/WvW in some builds. It's issue is that its mostly a defensive weapon for the Thief. Sword skills 2 is a shadowstep to your target and can be reactivated to go back to where you teleporter from removing conditions. Sword/dagger skill 3 is is an evade + attack that removes boons from your target which most enemies while leveling from 1-80 won't have much of. Sword/pistol skill 3 is a daze+ flurry of strikes, timed right it can interupt enemies attacks in PvE/PvP. Shortbow is decent for ranged AoE and great for mobility. Pistol/Pistol is really good for ranged single target though you'll mostly be spamming Unload (skill 3). Mirage is kind of like what you would get if you crossed Mesmer and Thief. They're focused a lot on mobility and attacks that move you around your target through shadowsteps. They also gain access to Ambush skills after dodging which are similar to Thief's stealth atracks (they change your skill 1 to a special Ambush attack unique to each weapon). Admittidely I have limited exprience on Mesmers but that's how I feel abour them so far from what I've played.
  5. Guess you misunderstood what I wrote then or the context to which my reply was because I never insinuated that it should be Snow Crows builds or gtfo. I was replying, particularly, to the point that Snow Crows was still going to put up the Condi SLB build and benchmark. They clearly stated they don't think its worth putting on their site or using. However, thats their opinion and I suggested checking other websites for the benchmark of the condi slb build like LN or HS. They are the pinnacle of player capability and while not comparable to your average player they do have more knoweldge and understanding of the game than I'd day at least 90% of the playerbase. They did say before that there are more builds than they can test and put on the site and just because its not on the site doesn't mean its not viable. I think it just means the effort required to gear up and learn the rotation isn't worth it when you can do better with a different build that provides more. I also never said anyone's demanding Snow Crows builds and I agree people shouldn't. I've commanded raids before and never really cared what build the dps was using as long as they were around 15k+.But when you have the playerbase telling new players to go get their builds and rotations from snow crows before doing raids/strikes either you and I are playing different games or we don't see eye to eye.
  6. According to the announcement they made on discord they pretty much finished the benchmarks as they are on the site. They decided to remove quite a bit of builds from their website which they deem aren't worth it anymore. Two of those builds are Condi Soulbeast and Hybrid Soulbeast. Do note though that those builds are "deemed not worth it" that's based on their opinion and other sites like Lucky Noobs and Hardstuck might still have builds for them. Tl;dr: No more condi or hybrid slb on snowcrows but doesn't necessarily mean it can't be run. Check other sites to see if they think its still viable.
  7. I get the reference you're making to the point guard in basketball. I understand the type of supporting a thief would do in the previous post you made. I'm just saying that's more of supporting in a PvP environment whether that's sPvP or WvW from my own experience, given that I don't do much sPvP or WvW I wouldn't know better honestly. From a PvE perspective in end game group content that's not exactly how you would support. You don't go around jumping from player to player in the group dropping blinds or a projectile block and covering fire, at least not from my experience in raids/strikes & fractals. Usually supports have those specific roles like guardian & mesmer reflects on Matthias and there isn't a reason for a Thief player to improvise support unless some of the group aren't doing what they're supposed to. Like for example I've used the steal skill from Vale Guardian and Sabetha in w1 to save downed players that got downed in the wrong place. Sure you cna say you're "supporting" them by doing stuff like that but its not exactly the support role players talk about when it comes to raids/fractals.
  8. I don't think that kind of support style is viable in group content in pve like fractals, raids and strikes. Maybe in disorganized pugs but definitely not in more organized groups imo. If I'm not mistaken there is a 1 sec internal cd on the poison application so that shouldn't really be possible.
  9. Siphon was triggering bountiful theft in the stream if I recall correctly which would mean it is being treated as steal. Maybe imptov just gives you two charges of Siphon instead?
  10. Cal did say in the stream that it will take hits instead of your HP while you're in shroud. He even showcased this by having a golem attack him. I don't knoe about receiving healing while in shroud though.
  11. Are you talking from a PvP/WvW perspective? I was mainly talking in fractals/raids/strikes.
  12. Yea I get this would be great as a focus heal the tank support, it's just we've never seen anything in GW2 that requires that kind of style of support. Sure there are boss fights in raids that have a tank but you don't need a dedicated healer to support the tank. Most of the time you're just going with 1 main heal and an off-heal or 2 off-heals 1 per group. Unless somehow they're designing encounters and strikes in EoD to warrant something like this I just don't get how its supposed to fit in any squad for 10 man. I can see it maybe in 5 man fractals consolidating heals+alac roles and leaving room for quickness on something other than HFB maybe. From what I can remember the alac from wells was 5 man so even if there's a viable heals+alac build for Specter why would you run it when you can run 10-man alacren unless that's going to be nerfed.
  13. The spec seems interesting but its clearly showing how they had a hard time finding out how to make Thief a support. They even said it on stream. Like the spec is spread thin in trying to be support in different ways and it shows the lack of focus it has. This is going to be the first support spec that doesn't benefit from most of its support abilities. Like what kind of support role is this trying to be when its mainly ally targetting? In WvW this is meant to be the commander bodyguard? I mean cool concept but as others have said, what's the point in keeping the commander alive and then the whole squad dies? At least its something to let us play in the zerg I guess In sPvP I can see this being powerful in 2v2 or 3v3 but tougher to use in 5v5 modes. I don't play pvp much so can't really say much. I do think people are forgetting you're getting extra tankiness from Shadow Shroud replacing your HP like with Necro Shroud. PvE I'm sorry but I just can't see this working as anything other than a cdps Alac Thief. Maybe if we see the numbers on the healing with healing gear it might be possible as a heal/alac support? Barrier support I think is pretty dead in the water with it being mainly single targetted.
  14. I have mixed feelings regarding the Untamed honestly. I love the hammer skills and how they switch when you're unleashed. Its upsetting but understandable that they decided on not giving unleashed abilities for the other weapons. Just feels like being forced to play hammer with the spec, then again Holosmith only has sword that interacts with heat as they did say. Pets all having the same unleashed skills is a missed opportunity imo. If anything they definitely should consider adding more unleashed pet skills based on pet type (like what they did with Slb). Unfortunately as we thought, doesn't seem like the pet AI is getting any changes. Shadowsteps on pet skills helps with the pathing issue but that's a band aid solution. Its like treating the symptoms but not the disease itself. Also unless those skills have pretty short CDs (didn't notice really) pet pathing will still be an issue once you've used all the skills. It looked to me like the pet abilities were instant now? Definitely helps a bit with making sure your pet abilities land on the target. We'll have to see how well in practice that is against moving targets as none of this helps making sure pet autos land on a moving target. Also since we seem to lose the old F1 for the pet to attack a target, how does attacking 2 different things work now? If I had my pet attack the first target and I switch to a different target does the pet change targets to mine or stay on the old target. I'd see this as a concern in PvP and WvW when going 1v2 for example. I'd say what honestly disappoints me about the Untamed is how all the changes they're making to the pet feels like it should have been fixes to core Ranger and not a new e-spec. Having access to all the pet abilities and giving them instant cast timings or at least from the looks of it priority over any other action should have been baseline with core ranger and not a new e-spec. The bandaid solution of pets shadowstepping to target on ability use could have been a band aid for for Core Ranger pets. Its like they're saying if you want these pet fixes then you need to play the Untamed, but then since the spec heavily revolves around hammer you're at a disadvantage if you're not using hammer.
  15. 1- We both agree pet AI is a core issue for Ranger. An E-spec that focuses more on the pet without fixing the core AI issues of Pet will suffer from those issues. Simply put, Anet hasn't changed pet AI in 9 years now and players don't believe they're going to do so now. Could we be wrong, yes. I'd love to be wrong about that but its a tall order to be fulfilled. Easiest way to "fix" pathing and attack animation issues with the Ranger pet is making sure the target doesn't move. The whole premise of this new E-spec based on that video (which is based on the GW1 bunny thumper build which did the same) is CC your target to your pet kills them. Saying we don't know how this e-spec will be impacted by core AI issues is basically saying either they're fixing the AI (which is unlikely) or they're giving Untamed pets a way to stick to their targets and attack faster both which weren't highlighted at all in the video. 2- As it was said before by someone else, the whole showcase doesn't have anyone move. Neither the pet nor the Ranger nor the enemies. Its as if they're purposely showing the spec off while everyone is standing still. Anet knows about the Pet AI issues, it knows players have been complaining about it for years and knows we have concerns over it if they were to make an e-spec focused on having the pet deal more damage. The teaser shows nothing in defense of fixing these issues other than "ranger CC so pet can land attacks" if they had done anything else to solve the issues it would be very weird that they didn't show it in the teaser. Maybe its being left for Guildchat on Friday but to most of us again, that's setting yourself up for disappointment. I could just as easily ask you, what from that Untamed video makes you think its solving the Pet AI issues? 3- The Soulbeast never fixed the Pet AI issues that have been with Core Ranger from the start. All the Soulbeast did was give Rangers the option to not have to deal with the Pet AI issues by not having the pet but instead getting stats when melded to make up for the portion of damage your pet would normally deal if it actually managed to land hits on the target. The teaser video for Soulbeast showed nothing new for Pet AI but showed you can meld with the pet. You could conclude from that video exactly what we got with the Soulbeast.
