  1. I am currently doing a run with my new Asura Revenant, but I have been wondering what path should I take for when the time to join an Order comes. I already have an Asura Elementalist from Dynamics who went with the VAL-A Golem and joined the Priory so I would love for this to be different. The current path I am taking with the character was: Synergetics and Infinity Ball, now I am almost 30 and I am not sure what order I should go with. The overall style of the character is that he is a Mist Explorer who was training as a Necro but during his travels got involved with the Legends and began channeling his magic inwards, thus becoming a Revenant, his studies are based on the energies of the Mist then and the alternate timelines that exist in them, he is tech savy but is not a focus of his and prefers making smaller, simpler inventions rather than large and impressive ones other than his portals so he doesn't care much for Golems. In terms of personality he is a bit of a gentle giant (As giant as an Asura can be) but someone who believes actions can change the world more than inventions (He is still an inventor of gadgets but prefers to do things physically). I am wondering where he would fit more and depending on that I will make my Statics Asura the opposing factions. My plan is to eventually do all questlines with diferences between them.
  2. Hey there, Currently building a Catalyst but not sure what Runes fit, I heard Balefire Runes are good but haven't done Hellfire Citadel yet, I have been thinking Marauder, Fireworks or Durability would work but what would work better in your eyes?
  3. -Explore Ruins -Collect artifacts -Scan for artifacts -Test Weapons -Repair Stuff -Make potions -Use disguises to spy -Make functional old technology -Build Stuff -Help with experiments -Look into Libraries Pretty sure they do and there are plenty of renown hearts like that.
  4. No, absolutely wrong. All orders fighth but their methods differ, just because they fight doesn’t make it Vigil, there are segments of investigation and research, crafting, etc. So that idea in itself makes no sense Durmand Priory and Whispers still go out and fight while they investigate ruins, read tomes, etc. That’s like saying only the Fighters Guild makes sense in Elder Scrolls because you fight.
  5. I mean, not really, just because you fight? Baron's and Fero's missions is not precisely Vigil Like and sure, there can be puzzles and all but the game itself in an MMO RPG with action mixed on it. And to rebuke that argument, there are parts of it where you go into Libraries and solve mysteries via magical rituals or investigations so not exactly.
  6. You raise a good point, I do like the way you think, I do however often make plans for what order my characters join based on their personalities and their goals at large. My Charr Necromancer from the Iron Legion, my Asura Elementalist from the College of Dynamics and my Norn Guardian are all from the Priory because their belief in obtaining knowledge to create a better world, one that doesn't need heroes to protect itself from the Dragons or other menaces in the future, they believe in prepraring the world by giving it new inventions, weapons and ability to fend for itself with what they create. My Charr and Asura are both inventors and my Norn is a historian. I didn't made my Charr join the Vigil because he believes in attacking when prepared and in using new and efficient inventions like the Ghostbore/Ghostfire stuff he made "Solving problems from your labs and libraries before solving them in the field" felt right for him. My Asura chose Priory because she is an inventor first and foremost, she wants to make new stuff that can make the world a better place and study the technology of other races, she didn't join Whispers because she finds they are more interested in taking than actually making and finds their "Send the Dragons back to sleep" mentality largely absurd. I originally was gonna make my Norn Vigil but she found that protecting innocents was more the Priory style in her missions and she ended up joining them. My Human Thief is a secretive type who joined Whispers due to the political world that got her Parents killed and because subterfuge and espinoage came natural to her. My Sylvari is someone who values diplomacy as his main but understands fighting, prefers to do so with sensible strategy first and foremost rather than throwing himself into danger. That being said, the first Order mission between using golems or attacking head on, he would likely consider the golems too unpredictable at the moment.
  7. Much what I was thinking. They do value history and the past as part of Diplomatic Duties but not so much in a Priory Way, think of him as a kínd of good version of Thrawn from Star Wars. A bit of Julius Caesar too. An educated military man. That being said they don’t believe the past is all that is needed to beat the Dragons, their first tennet is preserving the peace in the now and saving others, everything is there to obtain it and their main skill is being a strategist and diplomat (Fighting and then seeing to the aftermath) such as stuff in Kryta or Ebonhawke. He is very in the now, he studies the past but he is very in the now.
  8. Hey there, everyone. I am starting a Sylvari Ranger pretty soon and I wanted to know your opinions on what order would be better. The initial choices would be; -Charm -Fern Hound -White Stag -Where Life Goes -Cycle of Dawn For the personality I like to think of them as intelligent and strategic, both a combatant yet a proper diplomat, they value knowledge and subterfguge and combat all but their main mission is to destroy the Elder Dragons and ensure the safety of everyone.
  9. That’s all well and good and a nice way of seeing it and I agree with the part about the family structure. That being said the arc for me seemed to not be a touching one in how relation with your sire develops, you always want him alive and the only choice to have a real subversion or arc is to kill him, but that in my eyes doesn’t fit given past dialogue instances. To me it never felt that Vallus was in the wrong at any time. And he does have a genuine relation beyond ordinary Charr with the Hero. Another thing that bothered me is that it assumed Rytlock as your Tribune rather than have him talk to Bhuer or Torga to borrow you for a while (You can rationalize this one bit of course) I personally felt that Shaman was more impactful for main character without stirring it one side and the relation with your sire is not one you wanna fix or help him immediately. Your character hates Clement at the start and there is some natural development. Just my personal take and I appreciate yours.
  10. Which of the Charr personal storylines was your favorite? I have played through them all and enjoyed them but Sorcerous Shaman was my favorite, I felt like the interactions between the player and Clement felt natural and evolved through the story. Honorless Gladium might be the more conected to the story but the characters remained the same all through the story and it peeved me a bit that the game just assumed Rytlock was the main tribune you answered to. Honorable Soldier was fun but nothing much happened. This is my take, what about yours?
  11. Barring aside that you merr Gorr again during the Whispers storyline, which option do you feel is better for an Asura Elementalist? Do you prefer A Meeting of the Minds or Lines of Communication?
  12. So the Titans gave the Charr access to Burning Cauldrons but the Lore says that the Gods gave all races magic, so is Charr magic all titan based or they had ordinary magic before that and all the titans did was give them Searing Cauldrons?
  13. I have been RPing a Golemancer for a while, an Elementalist from Dynamics and VAL-A Golem inventions alongside any missions where I can pilot a Golem and making sometimes use of the racial Asura golem summons. But been thinking, it would be cool if we could have these permanently like Necro summons or at least extend how long can they be used, I think it would be really good to roleplay a golemancer. This of course would mean we would need to find a balance to make other Racial Skills equally usable, maybe make Norn transformations longer or permanent until abandoned (The replacing of the natural skills should balance skills enough there) And maybe Charrzokas can be permanent or have Ammo instead?
  14. I think this part is clearly wrong, seeing the majority of important Asura are spellcasters who also use Magitech. I mean, the Council, The members of the Krewe, pretty much nearly all Asura you meet are spellcasters. You could consider most Asura as a mixture of Scholar Class and Engineer due to the inventions, sadly player characters are limited.
  15. I ended up going with turrets, the cannon has more massive potential and the playstyle is fun but I did found a fatal flaw in it myself...it cannot assist the search and destroy operations which requiere mutual cooperation so I went with turrets in the end. Sad, because Deadly Force with Galina is the most fun of the two.
  16. I understand this, yet you find many of the Asura in the questline use magic, including the entire Arcane Council and the memebers of your Krewe and it's not just a Synergetics things, characters like Hronk, Pokka, Kazz and others cast magic and in GW1 they are refered to as "scientists and spellcasters". So...what is that about? It's about that Asura research their magic and need to study spells and also adapt them into their tech and humans it's more like an inherent thing?
  17. But what does this mean? I do not mean if Asura are more powerful than human, I mean if there are common spellcasters and if they are powerful?
  18. I am running into this problem constantly. I am just stuck with the cutscene icon over my head at the very end.
  19. I've been having this problem with Ghostbore Artillery, AWOL, Path of Fire as a whole, Drawing out the cult and others. This seems to be a constant, I've done these quests on repeat up to 4 times and they still crash. Anybody else having this problem, any way to fix them?
  20. And they are common in all Colleges, right?
  21. Ah, many thanks. Yeah, thinking about Zojja, Hronk, Flax, Kazz and many others and the council who have a Magic using professions it indeed struck me as weird for them to say that they don’t cast spells but thanks for responding to me. So from this I am to take that Asura understand magic much better and both cast spells and use it in their tech that it becomes difficult to distinguish what is magic because they constantly use and cast it, unlike humans.
  22. What about the council who are all a magic class? Or that we saw an Asura rising a golem in the intro with magic?
  23. So an Elementalist Asura from Dynamics or Statics doesn’t exist in general?
