I agree. I super dislike that random people can follow me and I have no say about it. At least make the friends list or followers list a request that I have to approve. If someone I met in LA and I bonded over transmog and they want to follow, and they request, then great I see it and bam, approved. Even a toxic game like World of Warcraft I get to have approval control over who friends my characters/account.

Queue Issues & Beta Announcement
Poisonfrog.9812 replied to Stonemist.4680's topic in World vs. World
I have at least 10 max level characters and NONE of them got an in game mail about it this time around. Nor did I get an email either. Even if the in game mail system was working, it would behoove them to ALSO make a matching announcement at the same time, so as to actually clearly inform as many people as they could. The only information I remember seeing from the post-beta recap news announcement, was that we could select our guild to wvw with from the guild panel (not just the wvw panel). Also, I pre-emptively selected my guild and team, so that I wouldn't get caught at the last second unmatched like happened to me a couple betas ago, and now I can't even enter wvw at all. Can't even look at the first tab where you select the map to enter the mists. Can't undo it either. So much for the rest of my weekly wvw playtime. EDIT: Looks like going to character selection and back in allows me to enter wvw, by virtue of not remembering my Team selection -
No Mapping once Teams are selected
Poisonfrog.9812 replied to jballstars.8219's topic in World vs. World
Can't even *look* at the first wvw tab to select a map to enter! So much for pre-emptively selecting my beta choices this time around! -
I am going to be unabashedly salty here. DB has had so many back-to-back links, and it's boring to be with the same server for so many months at a time (and likely our linked servers feel the same way about us!). I thought the whole idea of re-links was to shake things up, get some variety and change! Would it be so hard to put in a criteria in the matchmaking code so that you don't get the same match twice in a row?

Oh, when that happens I turn it off. I knew enemies using minis to track was a Thing, the first time I followed a zerg with a mini out they explained to me. I just like to use minis in pve so it's easy for me to forget to turn it off. But I'm not sure how my experience relates to people being asked and not doing it?

Research Notes are antagonistic to players
Poisonfrog.9812 replied to Flapjackson.1596's topic in Guild Wars 2 Discussion
For reference, fast.farming calculates the cheapest cost per research note is currently 68 copper. For a few years, I was straight up vendoring foods that I didn't want for mere tens of coppers, because it wasn't worth the listing fee to put them on the TP. But if their price went up from a few coppers to 68 copper as a result of being able to salvage to research notes, that's a big price increase! (Comparatively speaking.) Instead, 10 years in somebody decided that fiddling with the food source itself was the best way to keep research notes from getting too cheap. Or as if leaving stuff like rock-bottom holiday food alone for 10 years somehow needed to finally be rectified. -
Research Notes are antagonistic to players
Poisonfrog.9812 replied to Flapjackson.1596's topic in Guild Wars 2 Discussion
I just want my holiday food back. I use Hallows Eve and Wintersday food to supply my army of alts with food and utilities for a whole year. It was frustrating to open Trick or Treat bags that I thought would have those food+utils, when instead I should have just sold the bags. And honestly, it's more useful to salvage food with the Composter than it is to waste food on research notes. For an average player who doesn't have an ascended cooking garden, maybe it's a better deal to turn them into research notes. Overall I think keeping the food in the holiday bags would just mean that the rock-bottom price for holiday foods would finally raise up on the TP and make them worth selling. Taking these foods out of the holiday bags was a really heavy handed way to attempt to get a certain result - that is, the result of paying a certain price for crafted goods or crafting it yourself. -
HAHAHAHA. So true. Talking to a person with a mini is literally the FIRST thing anyone does. It's what people do to me when I forget to turn my mini off.

I think it's unfair to put the onus of mini management on the squad leader. There are always pugs who follow tags around even when the squad is open (for various reasons) and you can ask them nicely sure, but as a squad you basically get punished if the person ignores the ask. And the commander shouldn't have to lock their entire squad just to keep a person with a mini out if they want to keep it open in general for people on map. I have also been in too many skirmishes where the player with the mini was deliberately trolling (whether because of spying or for kicks or who knows why), though that was more in T2 and T1 matchups and less in T3. Considering I've only gotten into wvw in the past 6 months, I think it's clearly a problem if even I have noticed it.

Game crashes at entering WvW
Poisonfrog.9812 replied to MidnightX.6294's topic in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website
OH MY GOSH IT WORKED!!!!!! As long as I pre-swap to an equipment set that does NOT have Winter's Presence skin, I do not crash when entering wvw. If my wvw set uses the Winters Presence skin, or if I start in pve in a set with Winter's Presence, I crash, even if it's swapping to my wvw set that does not use WP. Thank you so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
Game crashes at entering WvW
Poisonfrog.9812 replied to MidnightX.6294's topic in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website
This is happening to me too!! I crash an average of 4+ times every day when attempting to enter wvw (sometimes more, occasionally just once or twice), barely one second into the loading screen. Once I do manage to get into wvw, I can freely switch maps with no problems. I do not crash with literally any other game mode, not even pvp. The problem only started for me since the patch where DX11 was made standard. Strangely, every once in a while I load in on the first try, but I LITERALLY HAVE NOT CHANGED A THING on those attempts! I've repaired my game twice, it did not help. I have turned down number of character models and model quality to the lowest setting. I have set standard enemy and friendly models in wvw. I crash when joining solo, and when already part of a squad. It does not seem to matter what borderland I try to join. I have tried both DX9 deprecated and DX11, it does not seem to matter which, I still crash. When the crashes began, I was already using DX9, and the game automatically kept my settings to be DX9. (Sadly when I try DX11, I still get crashes, and I get the preview window bug where only half of my character is viewable. So there was no motivation for me to stay on d11). I've tried closing other programs on my computer so that gw2 is the only thing running, I've tried only closing certain programs, no combination seems to change anything. I've run out of ideas. What else can I even try? I belong to an active wvw guild and run wvw for a couple hours nightly when I can manage to log in, so this is a huge part of my game experience that isn't working. -
[Suggestions]QoL (Quality of Life) Ideas [Merged]
Poisonfrog.9812 replied to ginryu.3026's topic in Guild Wars 2 Discussion
This has been implemented! (Thank you Anet!) The icon on the minimap could use a darker/thicker outline but overall it's really nice to have it distinct from the armor vendors! 🙂 🙂 🙂 -

Poisonfrog.9812 replied to ginryu.3026's topic in Guild Wars 2 Discussion
I have some feedback about the accessibility of the redesigned Reinforced Armor icon. Or rather, lack of accessibility. I understand that the icon was changed from the anvil to reflect that it's not "repair" anymore. However, the new helmet icon is very low contrast both in normal view and in the map/minimap view. As a person with moderate visual impairment (I have to make all the UI as large as possible, and high contrast things are easier to see), the new helmet icon is VERY hard to see. It is also difficult for me to tell apart from the icon of npc's who sell armor, particularly on the map/minimap. I really think it would make a big difference for players like me to change the icon back to the anvil. The anvil has a distinctive shape, the icon has enough contrast that it's easy to see on the map/minimap, and it's not mixed up with armor vendors.
