Apart from FGS being used asymetrically in a optimal rotation and extant uses in PvP, the conjured weapons are just an forgotten feature that would take too much developer time to fix and would probably introduce bugs into the game. Have the devs reworked other similarly designed clunky class mechanics in the past? Yes they did, with warrior banners relatively early on, thief traps, mesmer mantras. If conjured weapons are in such a great state, why were they never "gifted" to other classes' elite specs? Is a new player able to intuitively use a conjured weapon correctly? Are they able to find the correct use for Flame Axe? (answer: none) What about Ice Bow? (answer: skill 5) Does the utility/power over time/player input match other classes or even ele's other utility skills? The overall answer is that it's unintuitive, clunky and they probably don't have the means to fix conjures mechanically. Sure they can probably tweak the numbers in the code, but modifying the underlying mechanics in the spaghetti code is beyond their abilities or lack of code documentation. Conjures are listed as "bundles" in the wiki, not as weapons and that probably has something to do with it.

Attempting to fix them would acknowledge the rank incompetence that led to their current state. ANET pettily mic dropped on a livestream when announcing the Ice Bow nerf. You think they would acknowledge that they have borked an entire subset of a class for almost a decade?

Iirc it was a few more things they nerfed on Staff other than just Meteor Shower. Meteor Shower though hurt as a fan of it from GW1. And it didn't even manage to get to the original Beta without getting nerfed. The old Elementalist reveal video showed Meteor Shower with a knockdown if I recall.

Oh Ice Bow? Well you see in an era long past, the Devs once created Ice Bow. They incompetently made it silly powerful as conjured weapons were the most clunky utilities in the game to use. People noticed. Ice bow was a means of nuking static objects and bosses with many hits on its AoE DoT. It shocked the Devs at how powerful they had made it. And the Devs resolved to "own" those elementalists, while not admitting to have made an error themselves. Not one but two nerfs to Ice Bow followed with a mic drop on a livestream. Ice Bow, the worst example of their incompetence at OP balancing had been slain and buried. Everyone remembers an OP skill incompetently balanced. No one remembers a weak noobtrap skill incompetently balanced. Yet too embarrassed to admit culpability, they let it languish till this day. And so Conjured Weapons remain a clunky "unique" utility mechanic to the Elementalist; no classes would want to pay money for the "joy" of Conjured Weapons.

"Conjuring Weapon" skills

Never forget. These are the devs that pedantically mic dropped on a livestream after nerfing Ice Bow. And then neglected conjures in a fecal state for 8 years. Better than deleting the conjures, "gift" them to another class. Perhaps Mechanist. -
[Yet Another Elite Spec] The Evoker
WhimsicalPacifist.2943 replied to Kubin.5304's topic in Elementalist
The name had me thinking Kael the Invoker for a moment. I don't know about mace... how about dual pistols but held by the barrel for melee? Optimal positioning -5 unit range. One potential stickler... how would mounts interact with the clones? -
Second Revenant. It's the most similar for me compared to Assassin from GW1 with good mobility, more survivability and also great damage. Only downer is the lack of a ranged weapon but the Renegade elite spec more than solves that problem. It is the one class that I'm liking enough to buy another slot (I don't like Charr's running animation so just parking that toon on a jumping puzzle).

Elementalist stans, sell me on your profession plz
WhimsicalPacifist.2943 replied to Kattliadi.1507's topic in Elementalist
For the legendaries yep. Celestial as an extra set is the tax Ele has to pay to function for Open World (yes, DPS is usually higher solo Celestial for Ele); still have to optimize towards Raids with Berserkers or Vipers. Back to the topic: also expect iterative balancing (nerfs) based on PvP bleeding into PvE. ie Ride the Lightning, Lightning Flash. -

Are you a hardcore masochist piano player who will enjoy a class balanced against immobile golem benchmarks? Like rollercoaster series of nerf/buff/nerf/nerf? Want a class that Celestial is mandatory for taking on certain bounties when other classes use Berserker/Vipers on? If yes, the class is a perfect fit! -
Remember how Necromancer can change the skill of their Scepter 3 via a trait? Why not that for Elementalist healers, but via Water? Under their new design philosophy all the weapons are taxed for each strike, buff, condition, evade, combo field, and finisher that they do. I presume that's why sword didn't get touched, as it does a lot theoretically but that doesn't necessarily make it a good weapon. What is going to happen to staff or dagger?

Want to roll an Ele, but am i wasting my time?

No worries, you have 10 years of precedent there. -
I too have news. I come from the year 2024. Anet has released a new Elementalist spec! I have good news and bad news. Good news! It is not rifle like you all feared. It's dual pistols. Bad news! You know the movie Equilibrium? It's a 100-range melee weaponset with gun-fu kata stances.

The actual balance of Mechanist
WhimsicalPacifist.2943 replied to GWstinkt.6094's topic in Professions
Joined Team Mech from an Ele and it's glorious. No more delicate +40 step rotations balanced against immobile golems. Pew Pew while drinking tea leisurely at range (it's nice having a functional ranged weapon). The problem lies not with Mechanist but rather that 67% are not running Mechanist. Do we need to do recruiting drives? Greetings Good Sir, have you heard of the Testament of Golem and Rifle? I have a 10 step (condensed) tract detailing all you need to do to succeed in life. -
Lets make minion master amazing!(PvE focus)
WhimsicalPacifist.2943 replied to Lily.1935's topic in Necromancer
This. Played Arah on launch when it was still a dungeon and couldn't get through the dark stupid corridor with the AoE's that all blended together. Still waiting for contrasting AoE markers that don't blend in. As for minions, maybe implement the GW1 mechanic of upkeep via Shroud, Blight or Health?
