  1. I completed the "Chairs of the World" Achievement and received the reward Chair but when I had my character sit on it, the chair was invisible and he was sitting in mid-air. I tried this in SotO, HoT, and Lion's Arch with Charr, Sylvari, and Asuran characters -- same results: invisible chair, floating seated character.
  2. After reading through the comments, "The Meow House" definitely appeals to me. I'd like to request an invite when the next opening is available, please. GW2 is my first MMO, still lots to learn and do. Been playing solo for about a year now and need help with Fractals for Mastery Points, dungeons and other group content to complete Achievements and collections. In-game I enjoy hunting, gathering, fishing, and in general taking in the scenery/vistas of the prettier landscapes of GW2. "The Meow House [CAT]" caught my attention. My GW2 time is supervised (and interrupted ๐Ÿ˜ธ) by my kitty. She thinks she the Charr Imperator. Thank you.
  3. Left-handed players may be interested in this. My key bindings for left-hand mouse/right-hand keyboard: Keyboard: regular US QWERTY Mouse: Left, right, center scroll, with forward and back buttons on one side Warrior only > Berserker with hammer and longbow. Elite Skill, Utility Skills 2 and 3 (Signets for their passive properties) are bound to keys as far away from movement keys as possible to avoid hitting them unless I really want to. Movement: I,J,K,L Next Enemy: U Switch Weapon: Y Stow Weapon: ; Map: R Rift: Shift+R Chat: Z Healing: G ("Mending") Utility Skill 4: [ and ] ("For Great Justice"), use 2 side-by-side keys for easier panic smash. Special Function: P Fishing Rod: F Cast fishing line or enter Berserker mode: 0 (zero on number row) Skiff: S Toggle Action Camera: D More frequently used skills/functions are bound to keys close to the movement keys. Not into PvP, WvW, Strikes, or Raids yet so those key binds are still default. Been playing for about a year, Warrior only, key binds are still evolving as my character gains abilities and as I figure things out along the way as an operator. *Note: I couldn't get the images to show in the post.   4. @Noxin.9276 thanks for the tips, info, and confirmations of things working. I tried to get Blish HUD to work but no-go. The Blish HUD developers have aware of the problem for a few years but to fix it would require a massive overhaul. So I tried DXVK HUD. DXVK HUID isn't as nice or helpful, just doesn't have the useful plugins that help gameplay, but it does provide some tech details that may or may not help when testing settings: https://github.com/doitsujin/dxvk
  5. During the middle of the Festival of the Four Winds, I switched my Warrior main character from Berserker (Defense, Discipline, Berserker) to Core (Defense, Discipline, Strength) and he fared much better in the Boss Blitz and Queen's Gauntlet. So,... back to basics it is. (shrug)
  6. Been distracted by the Festival of the Four Winds; still interested in the workings of Magic Find. The sentence quoted below from @Endaris.1452 helped to slot-in one more piece of the puzzle: If I'm following this right, since the majority of players have graduated to Level 80, the loot they get trends to the better-quality side but it is the lower-quality materials that are needed in large quantity for crafting Legendary gear; hence the practice of using a mid-level Bag Opener alt-character to open those better-quality containers (bags, caches, boxes, etc.) and salvage the contents into the lower-level materials needed for Legendary gear. Now that makes me wonder if Magic Find is a problem for Level-80 characters because it would increase the chances of getting more of the better-quality, non-container, direct drops instead of the lower-quality direct drops? For some context: I do want to be able to craft Legendary gear, eventually, and although selling materials for profit is nice it is not my main motivator. I going for a well-stocked warehouse of materials and pantry of ingredients because I enjoy crafting and cooking. (Yes, I'm weird.) I also like the fact that my character's are relatively self-sufficient because of their crafting skills: Level 500 Chef, Armorsmith, Weaponsmith, Huntsman; Level 400 Jeweler and Artificer; I'm fishing in the waters around the Lily of the Elon (Musk??) to raise the gold needed for the tuition to max-out Artificer and complete Leatherworker and Tailor. Scribe is off the list because between my job and real-life obligations, I can't commit to Guild activities often enough and consistently enough to be considered "active" or to become well-practiced and competent for PvP, WvW, Strikes, Raids and such.
  7. I think I'm starting to get a bead on this... What @Endaris.1452 said makes sense: "Higher level loot drops are worth less because they are more common (since everyone is level 80)." So, when it comes to direct drops, for Level 80 characters Magic Find is less impactful than it is for characters that haven't reached Level 80 yet because Level 80 players are already at the upper tiers of basic crafting materials (crafting materials that aren't first crafted from other materials)? It isn't the containers that I'm stumbling over, it's the "direct drops" that the Magic Find wiki page refers to in the line: "With a few exceptions, it does not affect containers (including champion loot bags ), chests , Meta events (including World boss Events), or any other source of loot besides direct drops." So far I've been opening and salvaging everything with my Level 50 character, not selling materials but trying to build-up stock piles of materials for Ascended/Legendary gear and for future characters instead. (I'm trying to lay down a solid foundation of resources with my current character to build upon with future characters.)
  8. As I understand it, Magic Find increases the chance of receiving higher-level loot drops as well as improving the outcome of items marked "Affected by Magic Find". Level 50 alt-characters are used as bag openers to receive lower-level items that are needed for crafting higher level gear. So,... with the account's Magic Find and food/utility Magic Find boons, my main character occasionally gets higher-level loot drops... after which my bag opener character opens to get lower-level loot? Is one defeating the purpose of the other?
  9. I'm still a relative newbie to GW2 and Warrior is my only profession/class at this time so my 2ยข ain't worth a plug nickel. That said, from what I've seen in YouTube videos and read on the forums, Warrior is simpler to operate than the other professions. "Simple" doesn't always mean easy though. Having fewer fancy functions has forced me to study and learn what the Warrior's armor, weapons, skills, runes, sigils, and food and utility boons do and how they work in concert. (Plate of Spicy Moa Wings add the very "elite" skills of belching and farting. ๐Ÿคฃ) I'm still learning and getting better at my keyboard-fu. (I use left-hand mouse/right-hand keyboard so the custom key binds make things even more... um,... "interesting".) As for condition damage, the longbow does burning and the sword does bleeding. The aquatic weapons do some bleeding but they (and underwater combat, as a whole, for that matter) seem more like an afterthought that the developers tacked on and then forgot about. Runes and sigils can either enhance the weapons' condition damage or if the weapon doesn't have condition damage, sigils can add it (eg: Sigil of Earth = bleeding). I feel like I'm in over my head with all the things that a player can do in GW2 so I'll stick with the simple Warrior and master that to the best of my ability.

If things work-out I'll make use of the Synth Nodes or if they don't have any, help work towards getting them. Blish HUB is something I'd love to have but I wasn't able to get it to work quite right on my Linux operating system (getting Windows stuff to work under Linux can be a real toss-up). I checked the Issues page and found that the Blish HUD developers have been aware of the particular problem for a couple years now. To fix it would require a heavy-duty code re-write. Hopefully Wine will get up-to-speed someday so Blish HUB will work 100%. The "Permanent Teleport to Friend" is on my wish list. Checked the Gem Store today and it isn't available at this time. Someday, though, someday. "Material Storage" and "Storage Expander" were some of my earliest GW2 upgrades. One or two Bank upgrades after each paycheck and eventually I was able to max-out the capacity of my Bank. One of the best GW2 investments I've ever made. Good to see someone else who is a like-minded pack-rat. ๐Ÿ˜ Keeping an eye on the Trading Post prices for Exotic-level stuff and pre-made foods is something I do. It seems more often than not it is much cheaper to buy off the Trading Post than it is to craft things myself. For the stuff I use regularly, I made a spreadsheet to keep track of material costs vs Trading Post prices. Earned the "Portable Composter" when my character graduated from is Chef training and gave those Nourishment Extracts a try. Shelved the idea after I learned that the Varietal Seeds had be replanted every server reset. Now I'm growing flowers used to craft 2hr Utility and Metabolic Primers. Those will be a frugal boon duration extension of some of the more potent but more expensive foods. Eh, well, that's the plan at the moment. We'll see. @Harfang.1507 Thanks for the tip. I'll be visiting every vendor in the Four Winds Festival when it comes around. Did a little info-digging on the festival; a lot of races and the vendors seem to be setup for trading in the more traditional, real-world sense -- materials instead of baubles. @HnRkLnXqZ.1870 Those Ascended trinkets *are* quite precious in price (just about anything of potent potential in GW2 is). Looking through the GW2 wiki page for "Food" is what convinced me that the "Chef" crafting skill was to be the first to take on. (And I like the idea that my character can grill his own steak and wash it down with a tankard of ale. Now if GW2 just had a recipe for donuts then I could start each session with a little coffee-and-donut role play.) Oh, yeah. Been using Winterberry Sorbets when they come from a loot container. I haven't gotten to the story that unlocks the Bitterfrost Frontier yet. I might break the story progression and skip ahead to that chapter just for the Winterberries and farming. Map-chests that don't require keys is nice. I have a chest that appears in my Home Instance but I have to travel out to Dry Top (or Silverwastes?) every so often to trade for keys just to open it. (What a nuisance for just one little, once-a-day chest of junk.) @costepj.5120 Thanks for the heads-up; didn't know about the hidden garden at Mount Maelstrom. It's going to be a long while yet before I can craft Legendary gear like the Leaf of Kudzu. Something to aim for, though.

I'm still relatively new to the game and genre,... roughly nine months into it now. Big game, lots of stuff to learn. Currently running Exotic, Berserker-stat armor, weapons, and Ascended trinkets (pricey little things; 5-months' wait for all the Laurels needed). "When all you have is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail." My head starts hurting when I look at the formulas and number stats. But I understand Bram's philosophy of "Ka-Blam!" real good so my main weapon is a hammer. My second weapon is a longbow. After your suggestion about Combos I looked into it and found that the hammer is only for "Combo Finisher" but the longbow is capable of both "Combo Field" and "Combo Finisher". Will be practicing longbow combos on the Moas and Wurms. As to my notions of "rotation for [DPS] gains" in the open world, I found a pair of "Might" utility skills: "Signet of Might" and "For Great Justice!". The signet provides a passive +180 Power all the time (except when the signet is activated). "For Great Justice!" provides +180 Power and +180 Condition Damage. FGJ's Power stacks withe the SoM's Power *but* if FGJ is activated first then immediately followed by activating the SoM, after 6 seconds of +480 Power (FGJ +180 Power plus SoM +300 Power) the SoM *cancels* the FGJ! ๐Ÿคฌ So I moved the SoM key bind off into a far corner of the keyboard where I wouldn't fat-finger it and set the key bind for FGJ close to the movement control keys. (Left-hand mouse, right-hand keyboard... custom key binds get weird.) The result has been +180 Power in effect at all times but then having to remember to press the key for FGJ every 20 seconds or so. FGJ's Might and Power last for the full 25 second cool-down, unlike SoM (6 seconds of fun followed by 19 seconds of cool-down anxiety).

I don't know how it is for other Linux distributions but for Linux Mint Lutris defaults to installing games in /home/<username>/Games/<name_of_the_game>/<file_path_to_game.exe> i.e.: ~/Games/guild-wars-2/drive_c/Program Files/Guild Wars 2 Lutris vs Lutris FSHack vs GE-Proton: As best as I can get a bead on it, "Lutris FSHack" runners seem to be for games from the Windows XP era and earlier, "Lutris" runners are for games that came after that era, and "GE-Proton" is the best option for contemporary, graphics-intense games like Guild Wars 2. Fonts: I copied fonts from my Windows laptop into an archive folder on my Linux machine to copy into current and future Windows-based games running within their own Wine containers/instances/bottles. i.e.: ~/Games/guild-wars-2/drive_c/windows/Fonts If you don't have a Windows computer to copy the fonts from, most can be installed through WineTricks. Fix nVidia Settings Manger Unable to Save to xorg.conf: By default, the Nvidia Settings Manager won't save your changes to "/etc/X11/xorg.conf" which means you have to redo those settings after every reboot. The following command remedies that problem: Open a terminal and enter this command: Turn Off Your System's Desktop Compositor and All Other Fancy Visual Effects: It was hard to bite the bullet on this one but it came down to either having messed-up graphics during loading and unloading of games or have a stable display and playing games without graphics issues.   14. I'm enjoying the Dragan Arena at Dragon Bash mostly for the shear amount of loot that I'm salvaging into raw materials and stockpiling them in my Bank. The one category of items that I haven't seen as loot are food ingredients. Are there festival or Open World farming events where the loot is mostly food and food ingredients? (My character can cook, the skill comes in really handy.) Garden plots produce tiny crop yields of limited variety once every server reset. "Varietal" crops have to be replanted each time. The BLTC Contracts can deliver small pecks of gathered fruit, veggies, and seasoning plants but still not enough to cook-up batches of foods. I can buy ingredients on the Trading Post but some get expensive when ordering in quantity. So having a food ingredient farm that a player can grind for hours on end to stockpile ingredients would be useful to the GW2 Chefs.
  15. Thanks for the links and infos. ๐Ÿ‘ Not looking to do competitive play any time soon; I'm enjoying working my way through the stories. (Recently started the main story of "Heart of Thorns".) The reason I'm interested in increasing the DPS on my character is because when my Level 80 Warrior Berserker uses his hammer to fight against regular Level 80 hostile NPCs (not champions, not bosses), it seems striking them with the hammer is about as effective as slapping them with a feather. Killing them with one strike would be great. Killing them with six strikes would be good. But after what seems like a dozen strikes with the hammer and the hostile NPC is still standing,... anyone got a feather I could borrow? At times it feels like even the dodo birds (Moa's) are mightier than my Warrior. I've seen various videos like the one in the SnowCrows link where the character is attacking the testing Golem or monsters or other players (PvP/WvW) and I see 5-digit DPS numbers appear on the screen. I heard the term "rotation" mentioned in the narrated videos, so that's why I associated "rotation" with high DPS. In videos like that, 40,000+ DPS is common, then when I load my character into the western side of Verdant Brink and have him pound away at the giant beetles there with his hammer, I see DPS numbers like 1800 and 2200,... just mere fractions of 40,000+ DPS. Such a huge difference in DPS numbers made me wonder what was I missing or doing wrong. Hadn't noticed the long string of Boons the characters had in the videos before until DanAlcedo's comment about them in the post above. Yeah, a lot of enhancements stacking up there, compounding into greater potency of output. From what I glean from reading the forums, ArenaNet seems to have a longstanding disdain for its Warrior Profession. I chose Warrior as my first character because it seemed to be the least complicated option. Besides learning how to operate the character, I'm also trying to learn the game; GW2 is my first MMORPG so keeping things simple is helpful. As eXruina suggested, I'm taking things at my own pace, learning as I go.
