  1. You have a very skewed view of history. The players were outraged and pushed back against DBL when released, but that was because it was a disaster. The game crashed every 2 hours when the central event happened. The framerate dropped to near nothing whenever anyone went close to the middle zone. There were a lot more NPC monsters than what's there now that were red and you'd aggro all the time, slowing you down when running from point A to B. The map is about the same size as Alpine, but they had barriers that had to be destroyed to move beyond spawn if controlled by the enemy. If you were solo or in a small group, these took forever to destroy. There was no movement from the shrines if I recall correctly. There were tons of ways to enter the keeps by jumping or gliding in that they took years to fix. I could go on and on. All of these problems were presented to Anet in the beta and they did nothing to fix it. So yeah, the players were outraged because Anet presented us with a steaming pile of garbage and it was the first map update since launch. World linking was not presented as a new feature. It was designed and meant to be a temporary band-aid because world population was so low. They said they were working on a plan to have a more permanent solution, they just didn't know what it was going to be. They never got around to it.
  2. Yes, but the determination for their set up for this week has been based upon peoples WvW guild choice and supposedly, past activity. So the whole thing is tainted if people had no selection, had their selection changed at the last second due to a bug, or had the wrong selection for various reasons, some of which I outlined. So, their matchmaking stratagem won't work because now, there are a lot of people not playing, so they can't tell if they were successful at their matchmaking and population balancing.
  3. Obviously, I don't have info from all players and all servers, I'm using my anecdotal experience extrapolating that my group can't be the only one experiencing this. Due to such a late notification of this beta, word wasn't able to get to many guildies. We had an alliance set up for last beta, but since then, many guilds left, some stayed who were in those guilds, some people change guilds in the process. Basically, a lot has changed since last beta. Add the fact that there was realistically 2 days notice from the login screen and home page (yes, I realize there was a forum post, but most most people don't read the forums every day, and there was a slightly earlier twitter anouncement, but not everyone is on twitter, myself included). You need some time for word of mouth to spread. As a result, not everyone in my guild was able to be sure the proper selection was made. Now, very few are on the same server. Since our guild is split up, as a result, very few are playing are playing. As I said, I can't be the only one experiencing this. And this is the crux of the matter. In order to get good data to determine how to group people together, guilds together, how many are playing, stress tests for servers, how are off prime hours being filled, etc., you need to get a representative sample. Well, Anet, you're not getting a representative sample because so many people I know are saying that this is borked and they're not playing for 2 weeks.
  4. Well, just as predicted, a bunch of guildies are not playing with us. Why? Because many people don't play during the week, or maybe they just didn't log in since Monday. Some of them had an old guild alliance picked, some didn't have anything. Now, we're not gonna play together for 2 weeks. kitten, didn't you guys learn anything from the last Beta?
  5. The first post doesn't mean squat. Sometime in the summer isn't a date, and as per usual A-net fashion, it could be delayed indefinitely. The second post is concrete and I didn't see that as I don't frequent the forums. I said in a previous reply that an in game mail would be the best solution.
  6. How about just an In game mail. Hell, we just got one regarding dragon bash.
  7. Their main page has a posting on June 6th with the close for WvW guild selection on June 8th.
  8. Why the f--K do you guys give 2 days notice of this? There's gonna be a lot of people, just like last time, caught with their pants down. I don't understand why you can't give at least a week.
  9. Thanks for finally, after what, 7 years give or take, put this guy in the game. Thanks also for allowing us to buy stuff for useless account bound things. This is going to make a lot of people happy.
  10. No. I figured it out. Earlier in the day, I was doing some cooking and had the level of stuff ticked off in the filter options. Now that things have reset, all options are back to being checked and all recipes are visible.
  11. Usually I just use scribe to make guild siege for WvW. I decided to make a few claiming items, like watchtower. However, the item is not in my crafting list. The only ones that are there are: Sabotage Depot and Minor Supply Drop. I also noticed there are other things missing, like Bag of Incandescent Energy and Hero's banner. I could swear that at some point in the past, I was able to make this stuff. My scribe is 400 My guild is fully upgraded. I went to another guild hall that's fully upgraded and the same thing there. I have permissions to use the scribing station and assembly device. Am I missing something stupid or convoluted or is this really broken?
  12. I get this every now and then. When it does happen, it's super annoying as it requires a computer restart. The sound quits for whatever reason. This may also affect other sounds on my computer. In the mixer, there are no levels coming form GW2, so it seems as if Windows is not receiving info from GW2 or there's some blockage. I don't know, that's why I'm asking. When this happens, it can sometimes this can block other sounds on my computer. There doesn't seem to be anything pertinent to my situation, but then again, I don't want to spend hours chasing down things that have nothing to do with this. Please note that I mostly WvW. Don't know if this helps, but here's some info on my computer. 13. Remember that they first announced the idea of alliances many years ago. @3 or 4 years? During these discussions, they said that their system would pair people together. There would be an alliance team and their system would look at who've you played with over time (they said they'd track that) and try its best to be sure you were on the same teams. This has not been mentioned in the more immediate alliances discussion since betas started.
  14. WvW is more rewarding than PvE. It doesn't need a reward rework. On top of the loot you get from killing players, which is akin to killing monsters but better because you get tokens you can turn into more loot, there's also event rewards from defending or taking objectives, higher loot rewards from higher tier monsters, WvW pip reward system which gives tons of stuff PASSIVELY and whichever reward track you want, which, depending on your choice, gives tons of stuff PASSIVLY and often more resources than you could ever get in PvE for the time. Not to mention all the legendary gear, who's ingredients you get passively while playing.
