Cannot progress Comrades in Arms
DancingShadow.5689 replied to Jora.5471's topic in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website
Same issue, Anet be trollin again Edit: after waiting for the 'Map is almost empty, join another' pop up and switching, she talks to me again -
Well doesn't that make the pronouns even more important for those of us that project themselves onto their character? Outside the story, I'd argue that every choice you make represents you through your character, be it reacting to events or whether you try to save NPCs or fight as many enemies as you can. But inside the story, pronouns are one of the most prominent things that reflect each player.

I... have no idea why you would try to make your reply sound this complicated, it doesn't sound smart it's just confusing. Anyways, from what I understand, no, I will not sacrifice my immersion or identity or whatever, just so the developers can put less effort into the game. If they/them pronouns were a part of the game from the start, I would be fine. They weren't. If the developers wanted to be inclusive like I think you're suggesting, they would add the option to choose they pronouns on top of he/she. They didn't. If for whatever reason they still did it to be inclusive, or had any other valid reason for changing it, they would explain it in a blog or somewhere else. So far they haven't which only cements the feeling they're playing dead hoping it'll blow over.

No, I'm saying I enjoy the story as a whole and now that a seemingly unimportant but actually surprisingly noticable part of it has changed a certain part of that enjoyment is gone and it affects my entire experience. I like to immerse myself into my character so it's not just a fictional character in those moments, it's, well, me. Again, continuity matters. Check out Kiki.9450's comment, that explains it well

If it was always they/them, no one would care, not even me... but it wasn't. For 10 years. The real problem here is continuity. They/them could be added as choosable pronouns, but 10 years of story just wouldn't include it. They can start only reffering to us as they and it'll break the immersion of many of those who paly the story chronologically. The best solution would probably be for ANet to stop cutting corners already and just keep it as it was since literally no one complained about it and it was actually a plus for the game. Hopefully at least whatever comes after SotO will do so or something like it.

We do have a hobby, it's called Guild Wars 2. And we aren't 'blowing up', simply expressing our disliking of a change in our hobby hoping ANet will take our feedback into account when making future content

Yes it is risky and it shouldn't be. If none of us talk about what we like/dislike about new content, nothing will change and ANet will just do whatever, so I'd say it's better people talk about it, no matter how risky the topic

Yeah no I'm not asking them to accomodate every single white kid who suddenly identifies as whatever/whatnot just because it's in, I just want to keep the story as it was in this regard, because the previous dialogue quality has me kinda spoiled. If there weren't pronouns to begin with, I would have no problem whatsoever, but there were. While the ranger/necro/engi is a good point and will make it easier for me while replaying the story, my main is a revenant so no help there

THIS IS IN NO WAY AGAINST NON-BINARY PEOPLE, IT ONLY CONCERNS THE PLAYER CHARACTER. I'm not trying to argue about real world views of non-binary folks, I just want to give ANet some genuine feedback/advice and see what other people think about the issue, so please be nice. I've been enjoying SoTO's story so far, but having my character called they/them after 10 years of being a she feels incredibly impersonal and somewhat ruins the immersion for me. I get that it's more work to give our characters pronouns, and most games don't even bother, but it's one of the smaller things that made me fall in love with gw2, and now that it's gone after I got used to it... that love is being tested (look at me getting all poetic heh). ANet, please please please consider changing this back in the future releases. I don't know if it was because of limited time or if you just wanted to cut the costs, but either way it has a bigger impact than I'd have thought possible, and in my opinion is definitely worth the extra effort to change. I think even eventually going back to revise it in acts 1-4 would be worth it (though I understand computers about as well as an ettin so I have no idea how difficult, if even possible, that would be). I love the story, I love the game, and I want to keep playing, so please keep giving it the love you have (and thank you for that by the way). Again, no problem whatsoever with non-binary folks, just giving feedback to hopefully better the game.

Repairing IG-6417 No Holographic Display
DancingShadow.5689 replied to Moira Shalaar.5620's topic in Guild Wars 2 Discussion
Very very late to this, but in case someone finds this post while having the same problem (like me), the easiest way to get these is for some reason from detonation cubes not golems. I killed a couple dozen golems and nothing and then it dropped from the first cube I killed.
