  1. Are you sure it's powered by a ley-line and not hundreds of skritt running in a large mousewheel?
  2. While I agree in one way, I also think that you can get them from many sources in-game, just by playing (not to mention the gem store). All you need to do is to play the game a bit, and you'll have more of them. So not really necessary in my opinion. Some people have over 1000 transmutation charges, and I had around 50+ until I made some alts. And now those alts are earning them back by doing map completions (and from other sources).
  3. I've seen this person spamming that too, usually at late-night Tarir-runs (European timezone). Every time a few people reply in the /map chat, offering to do it (some even for free) and that person is always back the next day spamming the same thing...
  4. This suggestion might be silly, but I'd love to have somekind of "weather machine" on the Gem-store, that allows players to change the weather (purely cosmetic) in a zone, visible to their client only. The reason I'm asking is that there's far too little rain in the game (avid rain-lover here). Edit: The weather in the "Defense of Shaemoor" beginner map was wonderful, with all that rain and lightning/thunder. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find a similar atmosphere anywhere else in the game...
  5. I just want to add to this topic from the perspective of a fresh player who didn't have super mounts and stuff like that when I arrived in Verdant Brink the first time. It took a really long time and lots of mob/gathering-grinding to level my masteries there (and in the other HoT-zones) because I could simply not keep up with the "Fastfood trains" that were running around, so I was forced to grind mobs and only stick to events that were restricted to one smaller area (if the trains even bothered with those, which they didn't always do). It's of course a lot easier when you have all the tools at your disposal and know the routine and route by heart. I mean I do understand that if you've done something 50+ times, then you probably want to be as effective as possible, but this hurts new/inexperienced players. So yes. just like OP I feel a distaste for that kind of "meta", even now when I have more mounts and half the HoT masteries unlocked. It also makes the game feel a bit like a job, you have to "min-max" to keep up, otherwise it's bye bye. Edit: Feel free to actually reply if you have an argument (instead of just dropping reactions) , because so far I haven't seen any good ones in this thread. My general impression after reading the posts here has been that people who are arguing that the OP has no point at all have themselves become jaded with time, something that naturally happens when you've done something so many times that it's basically on auto-pilot, and you only see it through the lens of "min-max", therefore losing objectivity in the process. It's possible that I'll also become like this in due time, but for now I'm trying to see things a bit more objectively. I actually wouldn't have minded this as much if there were more events that weren't focused around flying/gliding/jumping on mushrooms in general. But I was stuck in Verdant Brink, couldn't progress my mastery in central Tyria and couldn't follow the fastfood trains either. And in the few cases I finally did manage to reach a boss (like jumping those steep cliffs where the blood-crazed flying dragon-thing spawns near the HP/mastery), it was usually either dead or I got one hit in and didn't get any credit. It was rinse and repeat like this for several days for me, in the end I got so frustrated and bored that I made an alt and played in central Tyria instead. I did ask in the local chat a few times for tips and how to play the zone, and everyone (with one exception) were saying that it's a difficulty spike map and that they understood why new players often find it difficult, because most of them had the same experience.
  6. People were typing about attacking some enemy castle, and that's where I went, so I don't think so. I got the impression they were friends and tricked people to go there so that their friend on the other team could kill weaker players or something. I don't know if they get something out of it, loot-wise, or if it's just to mess with others. I'm not upset that I died, it's rather that my first impression of WvW after 8 years of being away from the game is this kind of thing, instead of the team effort I expected. I also tried the 5 vs 5 normal pvp, and in the first game I joined someone was spamming insults because we were losing. I mean these kind of first impressions tend to stay with one... I've now been playing for roughly 1 month and I haven't set my foot in any more WvW/PvP (except getting an occasional daily in WvW, like the one where you simply buy something for badges). I saw that some people complained about not many wanting to do WvW/PvP, and while I can't speak for why others don't want to WvW/PvP, I decided to share my own reason in this thread. Maybe someone else had a similar experience, where other players and not necessarily the game itself took the fun out of it. Maybe it's like you say, I was simply super unlucky and got some jerks in my first game... But after experiencing the same thing in 5vs5 and also in my first dungeon (skip cutscene or kick-type of reactions) I started to think that there lots of rude players around, not how I remembered this game from 8 years before. Sorry for the wall of text!
  7. Perhaps my reply isn't exactly what you're looking for (since it didn't exist as an option in the poll), but I'll post it anyway. When I returned to the game after a long absence and decided to start playing WvW (since it's more fun than normal PvP), my first session and battle was me being killed by one enemy player while 2-3 people on my team were just watching and jumping around on their mounts while typing "xD" (which obviously ruined my impression of the game-mode). After that the only times I've entered WvW again was to quickly do one of the dailies.
  8. I wouldn't mind more aesthethic/visual addons for the GUI, like some other games have. But no to everything that gives players an unfair advantage over others.
  9. I hope the developers expand the "Weapon Master" and "Slayer" achievements to higher numbers. Right now "Weapon Master" caps at 5000 and "Slayer" at a mere 1000. I reached both fairly quickly as a casual player for a few different weapons/enemy types (on my first character). I think you could easily double/triple these tiers, or perhaps go even higher up. Otherwise people get little to no progression on alts. I think upping tiers for achievements like this is an easy and cheap way to add "more content" to the game, as completionist players will spend more time playing to achieve the afromentioned goals. Then again I don't know if you perhaps don't want to up the amount of achievement points more, as you might have some system or "cap" for it.
  10. I don't think you should get the rewards just by participating, it should be a grind of somekind.. But I agree that the current grind is too much! I wanted to get the mini kitty and it was like 10 000 snowflakes or so, so I just gave up when I realized that.
  11. That sounds fair. Unfortunately I've been threatened by players that join my party, don't even greet and also seem to ignore that I wrote "not skipping cutscenes" in the party info for story... So there are people like that too
  12. I had a similar issue as the OP, as when I finally reached HoT (doing the story chronologically) I messed up with the special ability unlocks starting from that point. I kept unlocking the wrong things, and later realized I needed Itzel language for this, Updraft Use for that, Exalted Markings etc. It's not the end of the world though, and I don't necessarily think they should change much (if anything, actually - just sharing my experience), but it made the game slightly more into a grindfest and I noticed that I played less on that character and decided to play on an alt in the vanilla zones instead. It also didn't help that without bouncing on mushrooms, using wallows/thermal vents or PoF mounts I often couldn't reach events in time when there were super geared veteran players killing things really fast.
  13. Hi, I'm about to finish Living World Season 1 and was thinking about buying the next part to continue the story. But when I enter the in-game store and look at the page for that season, I see this: https://i.imgur.com/zD5MuSp.jpg Does this mean I won't get all episodes if I buy it? Kind of confused. My friend doesn't have the same on his store page, there the price is higher but all episodes are included. Thank you.
