Charr design seems influenced by more than cats and cows. Their shape reminds me of a gorilla (especially with how they move their hindlegs between their forelegs, different from most other mammals) and they have bear claws. We haven't really seen other creatures that looks related to charr or could be an anchestor, but keep in mind that we have not seen most of the planet yet. That includes the regions charr originally came from. It certainly had a different feel back then, but that was also due to the players or rather, different attitudes and expectations back then. It was more of a fantasy world simulator rather than a typical MMO and it basically had no end game. I don't think you can recreate the feeling you probably liked about that just by offering an old version of the game because very few people today would want to play it like that. If you're into that, you'd probably go with much more advanced single player open world RPGs. I also doubt that Anet still have all the old assets that would be needed.

This makes me wonder, where did the Charr and other races end up before the human gods took an interest in the planet of Tyria? From what I read up on, all those realms are the creation and domain of human gods (and one mad human king).

I always managed to make good looking ones for occasional weekly key farming, but maybe that's just my taste. But you're also comparing the male default faces with the female makeover kit faces. I don't have many thoughts yet but one: It is nice that, until now, we didn't know any of this. It can be explained (we'll see if it's explained well) and it makes the world feel bigger again, like we're not the one and only important person/group in the world. Those wizards were actually busy with other stuff. We've dealt with the elder dragons, that was our path from the very beginning, but that's not the only thing going on in the world. It is only one part, and if we look at the full map of the world, the whole elder dragon arc was actually also just a very localized story.

Open World Legendary Armor: Nice. Different option for a different set. Will probably be my first legendary armor since I'm not into raids/PvP. I would've chosen to go for WvW legendary armor in the future, but maybe Open World legendary armor will be a more fun option. Easier Skyscale: Very nice. People should enjoy playing the game, and since apparently a lot of people have trouble enjoying the Skyscale collection, it should have a different way to complete it. I already got it and enjoyed the collection a lot, this change doesn't affect me. More Weapon Choices for All: Not sure yet if it kills the class fantasy for some of the classes. I'm not sure about Guardian with guns. Guess it will be fun to play. I'm curious about the new weapon skills. Runes and Relics: No idea, I never put much thought into those.

I did the Skyscale collection because I liked doing it. If others don't enjoy it, I am glad that they now have another different/easier option to complete it, so they can also get the Skyscale while enjoying their time in a game. I have no sympathy for people who do content they hate and then complain that others won't be doing it the same way. Do you also want to complain that I had a blast with the collection and did not find it tedious or hard work at all? Basically you could say I got the Skyscale the very easy way too. Don't do stuff in a game that is not fun to you. (It's also why I don't have the turtle mount.)

It can be celebrated any time an extensive morale boost is needed.

I don't see how I can open that door again from the inside, is there a way? I don't really want to do this part again. Flying in the mansion with the Jade bot gave me serious motion sickness.

Well, I liked it, but my enjoyment of it varies greatly by the starting race and other choices you make during it. Best so far (and thus now my main) was blood legion Vigil Charr with "Dishonor my allies" as greatest fear. I also liked that you didn't start out as the chosen one and didn't end up as the one and only heroest hero ever, I found that fitting for an MMO, but that was dropped in the later chapters. I also liked the characters more than later ones and the tone wasn't as silly.

They seem like they could be a fun to use feature that is not tied to extremely specific circumstances. I like that. I actually think it's quite a good idea for a mastery trait line. But we'll see how well it works in the game.

No, the timelines and details don't add up. Ryland has always been head of his own Steel warband, while legionnaire Urvan Steelbane is the original head of the (blood legion) player character's Steel warband.

I love it. I think it is totally believable within the limits of this game world and just another expected step. I always wondered how all other races could stay so far behind in their development, now that Asuran tech is known to the world. New Kaineng just a different color and slightly different look than Asuran magitech, and it happens to please the cyberpunk aesthetic. And that is all, it won't be cyberpunk, it will just more or less look like it. But even if you think it is a sudden huge leap in technology, that is not necessarily unbelievable. Even in the real world, we are at a point where the speed of technical advancement surpassed the understanding of many people in one lifetime.

You want to get rid of the original selling point of the game and the thing the game is good at, while only few GW2 players care about dungeons, raids and similar. No open world = no GW2. It's what defines this game and a common reason why the people who play it picked it over other games.

As a blood legion, vigil, charr main, everyone I ever cared about in the context of the world/story is gone. It's kinda funny, actually. Pretty much our whole warband got killed off twice (beginning of the story, and after Drizzlewood). Our Order mentor is dead obviously. Our Order leader (Almorra) is dead. Our Order's second in command (Laranthir) vanished. Our first Marshall (Trahearne) got killed off. Our legion's imperator (Bangar) and apparently half our legion are traitors. I felt these characters were relevant to a military oriented character, which new charr players start out as. Our original sparring partner character lives, but has been irrelevant since lvl 30 or so. Our Tribune Rytlock lives, but he's been annoying me greatly since PoF. Sure the game is fun and I don't even think those turns are particularly bad. But I'd say my main has been dead inside for a long time. I do like Marjory. Bet she dies.

Back then we had the ascended antique weapons, and a special variant of that could only drop from Tequatl. Same for the first ascended armor, a special variant could only drop from triple trouble. Most people never dropped either. This time, a special ascended variant of the flamesaw weapons can only drop from dragonstorm. I think a guaranteed drop after X tries is a good system (as with Aurene's gift), but I'm just saying, the drop chance for the frostsaw is not an outlier.

I don't even know where to go to join. I actually I looked it up, but I forgot again. It was probably something obscure at eye of the north, I'm never there. Basically skipped most content that had to do with eye of the north.

But it feels fun. This only occurs when you don't go forward on your mount at the same time. It only happens when you exclusively strafe left, and immediately after that, exclusively strafe right (or the other way round). Basically, it never happens to me on accident. I always kinda go forward at the same time, too. But I sometimes do a perfect circle with this behaviour for fun.

I like the inspiration for the new male faces. I just find it odd that in comparison, the female ones are all very pretty, and the males are all very creepy-ugly. Among the old faces, there are some monster/beast style faces for both male and female charr (though on average, the female ones are generally prettier). I mean, look at this glorious grimace, so jealous

People who would be bothered by something like that, won't hear or see your skin, because they have character models/quality set to lowest in the options. I just see everyone else on the default skyscale skin, and I know a lot of people use the same lowest settings (also because higher character settings really eat up FPS).

We're not talking about approval and you know it. That would be the like button. We're talking about the dislike button. You did not answer the question though, so I still wonder why anybody wants a like button. Is it really just so you can irk people as you said, just to explicitly cause a negative reaction? Do you really wonder, then, why Anet doesn't care about that request?

Out of those, the latter two, imo. I got the bank tab expansion, and by now, I sometimes would really like the storage expander, too. I used to do world boss tours a lot, but never felt the need for the portal devices. However, the very first convenient items I ever bought were the copper and silver fed salvage-o-matics.
