  1. I tried this without using the uncommon motivation you get from the quest and my own rare motivation: no credit. But if I use the uncommon one then my own rare motivation, I got credit. i think the trick is to first use the uncommon one then your own rare own (or perhaps someone else's rare one)
  2. Well... Korean MMO skins aside (they generally seem to go toward the "females fight in high heels and evening wear"), I think the skins can be vastly improved. The recent xpac skins don't really add much; just variations on the less interesting skins we already have, which makes them cheap to produce and also not interesting. Myself, I'd like to see things more in the style of the original racial skins. Something with flare, a bit more daring. I feel like Anet is forgetting that a lot of the appeal of the game is fashionwars and I don't feel like there has been much to help there in the last few years. It's certainly a personal opinion but put another way, I don't really feel compelled to purchase or pve-pursue any of the skins for the last year. Coupled with mostly static wvw, and I'm not playing much. But that's just me.
  3. Quick skin idea- How about a katana and wakizashi set without glow effects? I like the blades but don't care for the glow
  4. How about some black pearl dyes? something that gives you a Tahitian peacock black pearl affect? Black body with pink, blue and purple highlights? Perhaps somewhat similar to the recent abyssal dyes but with more colors at once and maybe less dark.
  5. I'd buy a tome that holds passes, e.g., Captain's Airship Pass, Noble's Folly Pass. This has been requested before but I'm surprised there's been no follow-up on it.
  6. as someone who buys lots of stuff... it would be really tempting if you gave us a discount for partial completions of the bundles. Case in point, I have some of the dragon's watch voucher pack. i'd buy it if you credited me for the items I already have. I am not going to buy it otherwise. The items I don't have are the ones I am not that eager for. But, give me a deal, and I'll fill out the collection. Charge me for stuff I have to complete things I don't really want and the answer is 'no'. Doesn't seem that hard to give me a credit for the already purchased stuff. There are N things in the bundle, I have M, charge me (N-M)/N*base price. Voila, more money for you.
  7. How about something that lets us swap or move craftings between toons on same account? I've got some older toons that I'd rather not log into anymore
  8. This is a great idea. For those with multiple armor weights of the same type, there should be some sort of salvage option with a decent return on salvage. Already the coming existence of this feature has me working on legendaries. (I'd made one piece of legendary armor previously and decided it wasn't worth the trouble. It's not like restating ascended is hard or all that expensive). But now that I will be able to share across multiple toons of the same weight, I've made 4 more pieces and will make a 5th in the next few weeks. Actually converted some gems to gold to do some of it. I am also buying more build and equipment templates slots already. I would like to see transmutation by template slot. As that would cause me to continue to buy transmutation charges, as opposed to using far fewer of them, I am sure Anet will implement that feature. (While we are at it, how about hair style by slot, for those of us with permanent hair contracts :) ) This comes down to QOL but also some simple math on the internal stats that Anet has for the game. Yes, some people did multiple legendary sets per armor weight but how does that compare to the players (like me) who just made lots of ascended sets? I bet the latter outweighs the former. IIRC I have 6 light, 2 medium and 4 hvy sets. They just aren't that hard to come by compared to legendaries. I'll be happy to salvage them all in time and won't regret the expense. Makes me wonder if template slots aren't selling as hoped and this is a way to increase sales. Seems like a win-win. I'm happy to buy more slots if I can share legendary armor. Now making a legendary is a lot more trouble than an ascended, so I'd encourage Anet to provide a decent return on salvage, a fair amount of gold, shards, tickets, and not just some matrices :). Also, I'll now consider doing legendary trinkets and the like, when I previously had no interest (for an established player there are a crazy number of ways to get these.)
  9. It could still serve the purpose of helping out the weaker side if they gave it diminishing returns: 2 banners in proximity they do half damage, 3-> one third, etc. Perhaps diminish for use in large groups or in parity fights.
  10. How about a home instance item that is a glyph projector: you equip a glyph in one of gather, mine, lumber and that glyph applies to all gathering in the world on any character. Not sure if I'd buy it if it superseded an equipped glyph. More interesting it is additional to any glyphs.
  11. Would it be possible to hide the tag on players you have blocked? On TC, there is a troll who is regularly on during active times who willfully tags same color as a main group and tries to draw players away from commander. He is definitely trying to griefing. A temp solution is to put an X symbol on him but that seems to regularly clear. A better solution would simply be to not show tags for players you have blocked. Thanks!
  12. I wished to be able to interact with the cats in my home instance and you obliged with the cat toys (thank you!). Now, in the human instance, every time I walk by the orphanage, i wish I could do something for the orphans. I know you'd have to try to do something equivalent for the other home instances, but how about something for the poor kiddies?
  13. I appreciate all the theory craft and all but in the end, for me, ele just isn't much fun to play anymore. In pvp, its a lot of work for half of what most other classes can do. In open world pve, it feels like the same: a lot of skills and atunement swaps for sub-par output. In fractals, again, a lot of effort to just barely hold my own. Maybe staff holds its own in raids but I find staff brain-numbing to play. I've gone on to other toons for now but since my heart lies with eles, I find myself playing gw2 a lot less these days.
  14. (apologies for the mis-post in the bugs forum)I have to say I don't like the latest chapter. The zone might grow on me with time but on first experience, it is hard to navigate and things like the "simon-says" mastery and achievements just seem like a tedious way to delay me for a few hours. Coming from someone who doesn't mind a little grind, the new weapon set locked behind a seemingly endless meta grind is off-putting. Why? well other grinds I could do at my own pace but having to hit 2 metas a day at the right time just seems a bit too much. Having talked to guildies, I know this is fine for some players but for me, it is over the line. Coupled with a festival where the focus is on mastering games that have little bearing on normal content, this seems time for a break from the game. I'll be back at some point; I enjoy gw2 overall and I get that this is all that the devs can afford at this time, but it does leave me wondering if this game is going to last more than a year or two.

  16. Not sure if this is QoL or a Black Lion option, but I'd like to be able to see PoF trade caches on the mini-map, just like gathering nodes. I'd be happy to buy that from the gemstore or do a collection for that. Thx!
  17. I'm a long time paper and pencil RPG DM and the fact is, you can rationalize anything. Some of the contra-grain makes for some great characterization even. That said, for vanilla pairings, humans are usually the versatile race and can be any class, though you could argue revenant is so particular to the lore that it is better for char, the concept seems to fit any race except possible sylvari depending on how you view their post death experience. Asura are obviously the technocrats so engineer is fit, as is thief (clever and small), elementalist or mesmer (brain over brawn, maybe more booksih ele than mesmer) Sylvari seem to be a good fit for ranger or perhaps a nature oriented sneak (thief) but given their curiosity you could make a case of any class, although to me, rev seems a hard fit. Charr are also technologists, so engineer, but certainly any heavy class (warrior, rev, guardian). Other classes seem to be against the grain, but again, that makes for an interesting character, so why not? Norn are, to me, in spirit vikings. So warriors, thieves (merchants), elementalist. necromancers and mesmer (all these light armor classes could be variations on Norse priests) are great fits. Eng seems unlikely (but of course makes a great story to explain why a norn is an engineer). Ranger certainly fits the backwoods, self-sufficent mold. Anyway, for me, there are some natural profession-race alignments but you can make anything work with a little cleverness and the cross-race professions might offer the most interest story.
  18. I would love a home instance pod. As to running DS it seems pretty active to me. Finished most of my HOT spec weapons in the last month without camping it or feeling it was hard to find a group except for late at night.
  19. This thread highlights one of GW2's strength's: a variety of professions that appeal to a range of play styles. Professions I don't care for are loved by others. and vice versa. The only one that seems regularly to be bottom of list of revenant (although there are a few proponents even there). For me, my top profession is elementalist. It's the one I always go back to and the one I think of as my main, although I regularly do a deep dive into other classes. I like the aesthetics of the profession and as with several others on this thread, it represents the profession closest to my paper and pencil RPG preferences. Ranger is my go-to open world farmer. I like the mobility, ranged attack and pet, when running around but I can't say I love it or use it for more than casual play. I regularly play guardian, warrior and mesmer. Warrior is fun for quick gratification but gets old after a bit. Guardian is fun in pvp although I don't care for it in open world. I like Mesmer a lot but in the end a dabble with it more than play it regularly. Engineer, necromancer and thief I play occasionally but they don't really click for me. Revenant I do not like. I try it from time to time but don't care for the mechanics.
  20. I was happy with the JP nerf, did the cost calc on winter's presence, decided it would cost far too much real world money to complete and just decided not to do Wintersday this year. I am happy enough with PoF and even some older HoT content that the lack of an event distraction is actually nice. And I still give Anet money- just not going to buy 500+ GP just for a snowflake effect I won't actually use that often. I have bought a fair number of keys. I love what they did with the BL chests.
  21. A sea slug mount! And before you poo poo it, look them up. Something like a spanish dancer would be quite fun.
  22. I really enjoy it. Looks great, plays well, accessible solo but good group content. Mounts are well executed. While it is true that masteries still gate some content, tying it to mount abilities is so much better than just having to do a mastery so someone will talk to you, which was very weak. Anyway enjoying it. Would like to see more bounty groups. Maybe that will come with time. Pvp will take some tuning but no complaints.
