Also generally to whoever stumbles upon this thread in the future: I am still currently playing GW2, It's an amazing game, really enjoying my time and I love my guild. I have tried to get used to the slide thing and it STILL annoys me to this day. Thankfully, I don't have to spend a lot of time on a ground mount in PvP and Raids/Strikes, so I don't encounter it as much. I'm not really playing a lot in the open world, but I'm thinking of investing in getting the Griffon and Skyscale, so I can get into some more of the lucrative meta trains for whenever I'm bored of PvP, my only concern is if the "slide" is significant on the flying mounts as well, I'm gonna lose my mind a little bit. As for the people who still disregard the video I posted for some reason, give it a watch, look at the "slide" that happens when I abruptly stop camera movement with the mouse while on the raptor. If you don't think that's significant, I will again implore you to compare abruptly stopping camera movement in ANY other MMO and compare it, just to understand the difference. I have confirmed with multiple friends and guildies that this effect IS real and we all understand that it's just how the camera was designed to behave. Also, the entire point of this thread is simply to suggest and OPTION to turn it off, nothing else, nothing more. I have never said the game is bad, I have never once demanded anything, it is simply a suggestion to the developers of a game I love. I just do not understand how many people are reacting with "confused" emotes and acting weird towards me, I had people in the reddit thread directly attack me personally and DM me nasty things and I just don't understand why. It is in STARK contrast to the amazing community inside the game and I'm just utterly baffled by how such a simple suggestion could trigger such insane responses.

@Ashantara.8731 I have tested rotation speed A LOT. It has nothing to do with the sliding effect. All rotation speed does, is adjust the sensitivity of how fast the camera moves when you move it with left or right click. Also, my windows settings are medium cursor speed with mouse acceleration turned OFF (I am primarily an FPS player, mouse accel would destroy my brain). I've tested on highest and lowest rotation speed on several occasions and I have the EXACT same effect as in the posted video. If you do not believe me for some reason, I can upload a video where I change the setting in real time to show you, if you're interested?

PLEASE, ADD FREE CAMERA TO MOUNTS. Instead of making thread number 8475894353498 on this subject since PoF launch, I'll add it here too. Also, while you're at it. A "disable camera slide on reposition" option in the settings would also be amazing, I understand it might be a stylistic choice, but I feel like if stylistic choice hinders gameplay (for some of us) it at least needs an option to turn it off. (camera "slide" showcase on mount). Instead of stopping immediately on repositioning the camera, it "slides" afterwards, it's most noticable on mounts. There's so many great QoL features in the settings that have been added over the years, yet these 2 have been requested thousands of times and have been largely ignored. Generally, I feel like the female charr hairstyles are way weaker than some of the male options. PLEASE. I have a hair change stored in my bank, waiting for the day they will add this. For sure, I don't really have any expectations, but if we don't keep mentioning it and asking for a simple on/off setting, it will just keep getting ignored, like it has been already for all these years. I am trying to get used to it and sure, off the mount it's definitely something you can get used to, in that regard I can understand the design decision. But when you're on a mount it's absolutely insane. I do like that the mount feels weighty and it actually turns physically with its body etc, it brings a cool gameplay aspect, but when you on top of that make the camera floaty and it slides around everytime you stop your camera, it's so invasive and annoying and it actually affects your ability to be in full control; Try this, holding ONLY W while on the raptor and then move your camera slightly to a side and notice how long the slide goes on for and how it affects how far the mount actually turns. I do appreciate that you're at least acknowledging it exists, only thing I can say to the people who continually deny it's existence: Watch my video, if that's not enough for you - Launch any other MMO and GW2, mimic what I do in my linked video and see the difference. In most other games, the camera doesn't slide or float like it does in GW2.

I previously made a reddit thread and people would say the same type of stuff like "maybe it vsync, maybe it's free camera, i don't have that issue, oh i've never seen that" I've done a bunch of testing and have confirmed with a lot of other people at this point, that this is a real thing. So this kind of gaslighting doesn't really work on me anymore. - If you actually replicate what I'm doing in my linked video, you'll see exactly what I'm talking about. It's just how the camera was designed to be in the game, and there's nothing wrong with that, I just wish they would add an option to turn it off as it's extremely jarring for someone who's coming from another game. My guess is that you're extremely used to it by now, probably having played for many years. But if you do me a favor and launch WoW, replicate what I'm doing in the video and then tab into GW2 and replicate what I'm doing in the video, you will immediately notice the difference. It's most noticable on a mount. EDIT: I just wanna add, I super appreciate if you're trying to help, that's very nice of you. But if you just don't understand the issue, it's okay to just not say anything. I had a very weird experience when I posted my issue on reddit where people would be extremely hostile towards me and try to convince me that this issue just doesn't exist, so that's why I'm being a little defensive now, 'cause I've 100% confirmed that the camera IS in fact designed to be this way. Hey So, I'm a returning player and something I'm immediately realizing is how the camera has this "slide" which happens after abruptly stopping camera movement. It happens both after letting go of right-click and also after abruptly stopping a camera turn in Action Camera mode with your mouse. It's MOST noticeable on a mount, where the effect is extremely jarring and is super annoying to have to deal with when you're used to snappy and responsive controls. It's like, imagine turning your head, but instead of being able to immediately stop in place to look at something, your head slides a couple extra centimeters every time you try to stop. My question is: Is this effect intended and if so, why can I not turn it off in the settings? For me personally, it's almost a deal breaker and it makes me feel less immersed, I feel like I'm less in control of my character and that the game "moves" stuff around for me, which is super jarring. I would highly suggest adding an option to turn it off, I honestly think it's something that turns people away from the game. The movement feels great in every other aspect and there seems to be a lot of options in the settings to really tailor your playstyle, so my hope is that someone sees this and understands where I'm coming from.
