  1. You do realize they made it so you move just as fast as mounts when around people with mounts and the mastery, correct? Your signet of the hunt had nothing to do with it. Working as intended. If you want to know what is the point of mounting up yourself know instead of just running alongside someone mounted. Extra HP and evades. Was that in this current patch? A few weeks back, I was not able to stick with a group on mounts when I was running signet of the hunt.I have been known to miss previous patch notes before, so thanks for the heads up. :) And yea, on the evades and HP....knew that. That's why I asked for clarification, as I regularly miss notes here and there. Specifically this under the general section near the very top of the notes: Warclaw Mastery tier 2 has been reworked:It no longer grants the warclaw increased movement speed in allied territories. While mounted, it will periodically grant nearby unmounted allies an effect that enables them to run at warclaw speed. This effect will be removed when they stray too far from mounted allies or upon entering combat. Thanks!!! I appreciate the clarification. Makes sense that it is at the top of the notes, as I usually immediately scroll down to the class info. Obviously, I need to pay a bit more attention to the entire body of the notes before going off on some misinformed rant. :)

My apologies for the dev knockdowns since I obviously missed some patch notes down the road.
  3. Besides the coolness factor, of course. With the speed nerf to mounts, I can now stick with mounted players when running signet of the hunt on my ranger. I actually went out and tested this tonight, just to see how bad the mount speed nerf was. I have a mount, but I brought up signet of the hunt after taking a camp with a bunch of peeps to see how close I could stay to them. After taking the camp, a few peeps jumped on their mounts and took off, and I was glued to their tails for quite some time. Sure, they can use their jump ability to leap further ahead, but then I use swoop to do the same. So what is the point of the mount, now? And I am not the only class that has speed abilities. This just indicates to me how completely clueless Anet is as to BASIC abilities that classes have access to. What's next? Nerfing signet of the hunt and other class speed abilities? Please correct me if I am missing something here. Seems like a very dumb and clueless nerf to the mount's speed. My mind is just boggled as to the dev's ignorance of classes and their basic abilities with this one. Or maybe the devs just didn't even consider this, which is even more mind boggling. I mean, it took me all of 10 minutes to test this. How hard is that? Again, please enlighten me if I am wrong on this. Like I said, I tested it tonight.
  4. Hmm, I don't know. But I can tell you that while I could point to some things that could have been nerfed, overall the combat felt fast and enjoyable to me. Duels against skilled opponents typically lasted minutes rather than seconds, even if both are playing high damage builds. So I guess my question is what were we fixing? It seemed pretty great to me. I guess I'll see how I like it now, but generally speaking if you liked something the way it was, "improving it" by tearing it all down and changing everything is unlikely to actually be an improvement. I'm going to give it a chance, though. I really hope we didn't just kill GW2 with this, though. I certainly don't think it will kill the game, but it will most certainly add to a lot of players exodus from wvw.And maybe that is Anet's intent.
  5. I swear i just did the same thing. I have tons of games i didn't touch since i re-installed gw2. Took a 1 year+ hiatus and this time i dunno when if ever i will come back. Was fun though. I have gotten into RDR2 lately...great game, and the online mode is even pretty good. Very immersive and entertaining game. This patch just pushes me more towards RDR2. I might still do my dailies here, but I won't commit much time to this game anymore. Maybe check back in a few months to see if anything has changed for the positive in wvw, but I certainly won't hold my breath. This sort of thing seems to happen too often to mmorpgs that are approaching the decade mark. Dark Age of Camelot comes to mind. Ah well, it's just a game, and I have lots of others that I will be able to commit more time to, now. :)
  6. Rangers started out this way in wvw. They were pretty bad and useless in a lot of battle scenarios a few years back. Then they made some changes that made the Ranger useful. And now we're back to ground zero on the Ranger. Not surprising, really, after all the layoffs Anet did awhile back. I'll check back in a few months and see if my main is still an afterthought out there. Sad, as it is a really fun class to play when the class can actually hold its own when played well. Sounds like those days are gone, again. I frankly think that Anet would rather have everyone just play PvE so that they don't have to commit any resources to wvw anymore.
  7. That's not going to happen, in case you haven't figured that out by now. :)It's just a bone they like to dangle.
  8. Same here. I didn't do a ton of WvW, but I did play it a lot in brief spurts, and I can count the times on 2 hands that I have been one shot in all the years I played. It just never happened that often, so am not sure where this is coming from when people complain about being '1 shot'.Maybe it comes from people who zerged a lot, and thought they were 1 shot killed when actually they were being hit at the same time by 4 or more players. I roamed a lot, and did small havoc squads, and I seriously can't remember the last time I was '1 shot' killed.
  9. Am glad that RDR2 is so much fun and so immersive. Guess I'll just keep doing dailies here until someone at Anet actually gets a clue as to how WvW should work. Not complaining...it is what it is. Seen the same sorts of things in lots of other mmorpgs. Things change drastically, and you either adapt and/or move on. I'll probably be doing more of the latter. Check back on wvw in a few months and see what is going on. Not like I was anything close to hardcore out there, anyways. But it sure used to be a lot of fun out there when I did do wvw. Sad that roaming is getting even tougher to enjoy. Ah well, it's just a game. Best of luck, all! :)
  10. Another example of Anet's complete cluelessness when it comes to wvw.
  11. Completely disagree. How long have you been playing GW2?
  12. Might check to be sure that the game is accessing the laptop GTX, and not the integrated graphics on the cpu. You should be able to achieve 60 fps and higher just about anywhere but Lion's Arch. My Alienware 17" laptop has an i7 - 7820hk with a 1070 vid card, and it manages around 50 in LA, and well over 90 in unpopulated areas. And that was with everything maxxed. But I did eventually turn down character stuff to medium so wvw blobs would stay smooth. Also be sure that your vid card drivers are up to date.
  13. Getting random crashes since the festival patch today. Is happening on my old desktop. All drivers/Win up to date. Old AMD phenom 4 970 with a GeForce 970 GTX vid card. Used to run the game fine....sure, had to turn down the graphics, but it ran at around 40 fps in unpopulated areas. Would get down into the mid 20s in LA. I have only been running this, as I just hadn't hooked up my way higher end Alienware laptop to the bigger monitor. Anyways, since the patch....game is unplayable. Multiple crashes, and 4fps in Hoelbrak( I have NEVER gotten that frame rate on this old machine in Hoelbrak). Tried many restarts with no change. So, hooked up the newer laptop, got the update, no problems. Smooth as silk. Any ideas what they might have changed for my old machine to finally go "no way"?? Kinda scratching my head about it. Not a big deal, as I normally run it on my laptop....but this old desktop ran the game ok up until this patch. Just curious as to the possible cause. :)
  14. I enjoy the mounts. That being said, I would have no problem playing the game without them. Hell, I did for years before the mounts ever showed up. They do, however, add a nice level of convenience and laziness when you just want to get from point A to point B in the fastest way possible. And the mounts make a lot of the what were once tough places to get to, not much of a problem to get to, anymore. And, it's easy to just not use them when you want to experience the real challenge of a particular area, or you want to play 'old school' for awhile. :)
