  1. If you still have a free spot for a Dutch person, who lives in Germany but who plays the game mostly at NA hours, then I'd love an invite. ( My account is on Tarnished Coast, NA)
  2. Did you try the repair client option as well? If not, perhaps it could be helpful if it ever happens again in the future, you can find more about it here: Repairing the game client
  3. Not sure if this could be a solution for you as well: " If you are having problems running Guild Wars 2, the data archive may have become corrupted. This can lead to crashes, disconnects, and other issues that disrupt your ability to play, and which need to be repaired before the game runs properly. Follow these steps to verify and repair your game archive: Repair Instructions for Windows® Follow these steps if you are running the game on a Windows operating system: Locate your Gw2.exe file. Right-click on the file and select Create shortcut. Rename this new shortcut to Guild Wars 2 Repair. Right-click on Guild Wars 2 Repair and select Properties. Locate the Target line and add –repair to the end. (Example: "C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\gw2.exe" -repair) Click OK. Now double-click the Guild Wars 2 Repair shortcut. This will begin repairing your game client automatically. The game will then launch when it is complete. NOTE: Keep in mind that the verification and repair process will run each time you double-click the Guild Wars 2 Repair shortcut; if you would like to play the game without repairing the archive, double-click on Gw2.exe or another shortcut without the -repair command in the 'Target' line. "
  4. Not sure if this will be helpful, but have you tried following these steps? Source: https://help.guildwars2.com/hc/en-us/articles/201863008-Repairing-the-Game-Client
  5. I have the same issue with the Astral Ward Door, it says my guild doesn't have two elegant wall panels while I just crafted them. It's my private guild, so I have access to everything. I did notice a difference in the elegant wall panel description: When making the Elegant Wall Panel it says: "Double click to consume. A decoration schematic that is processed by the guild's assembly device to make the decoration. Consumable Crafting Material: Scribe (400)" Screenshot 1 In the final step of crafting the Astral Ward Door, the Elegant Wall Panel is described as: "Double click to consume. A decoration schematic that is processed by the guild's assembly device to make the decoration. Consumable Account Bound on Acquire Crafting Material: Scribe (400)" screenshot 2
  6. 1. The bug started the moment I left the instance and returned to the Gaya Delves. 2. Taimi does give the "talk" option but nothing happens when interacting with her. 3. The event that was active nearby at the time: "Subdue malfunctioning jade bots and repair downed bots to restore supply lines."; I did DC due to my internet connection failing, when I returned to the map, nothing had changed. 4. I don't recall if Chul-Moo was there or not before I dced. I do know that Gorrik was there next to Taimi.
  7. Impatient? No. Not yet, they promised us an update early this year... the year isn't even a month old so it's still early. I think they'll give us a Q1 2023 roadmap somewhere in February. Curious? Yes! I'm looking forward to what the world of GW2 has in store for us, especially which turn they'll make when it comes to the story. I kind of hope that our dear beloved "commander" will retire and that there will be a new NPC hero that takes the lead, who, with the help of our characters, will fight against some new evil in the world of Tyria. But I don't think that they'll go that way. 😁
  8. #12 is still bugged, well for me at least. For my friend, who'd joined me, it did work. So it's pretty selective. I've tried it on multiple characters now and so far no luck. Not even after todays patch (if that was supposed to fix it as well).
  9. I'd love it if the backpacks we can craft would become salvageable or researchable. They're a great to use when you need to level up your crafting skills but after that, if all your characters already have a backpack, they're pretty useless. A shame for the mats that go into them.
  10. No I can be sure I haven't been trolling you. More likely there are luckily people who agree with me in one way or another. I get your frustration, seriously. But to call this raiding content. Nah. If it was, how did a group of pugs (like me) made it last night? It was even the commander his/her first try of commanding the event. It all comes down to people listening to what they should do and what they shouldn't do. We're all too spoiled in this game with how easy most things can be done solo.. It's an MMO... which means you'll need to learn how to work together, accept the fact that sometimes you'll have to adjust your build and gameplay to match with your group. As a casual veteran player, this Meta is for me not worse than the first try of Ascalonian Catacombs back in the days. I don't think I can even recall how many times I failed that dungeon back then. And yes it's frustrating, but it's doable. And hopefully now with the changes they are making, things will get easier for most players. And otherwise, you now have the writs.
  11. At first I didn't like the Meta event either, nor am I fan of strike missions, but I honestly like the meta event now, yes even when it fails, and no that's not because I managed to get the egg last night. The only down part I see for casual players (which I am myself) is that preparation time towards the actual event is for most people too long. That is something I can't deny. Certainly when you're a trying to live the grown up life or student life without much free time on your hands. That said, the challenging aspect of the events is actually what I've started to appreciate. And when it comes to the turtle, today a change will come in which you can buy the egg with 200 writs (correct me if I'm wrong on that) so, no more need to finish the Meta completely to get it, just do a lot of the pre-events over and over and you'll have your writs. The strike mission? It's actually not that hard to find a group that can carry you through it. And you don't have to like it, as long as you enjoy the result, which will be your turtle...
  12. I first wasn't sure if I should share my opinion on it, since so many people already have but... I figured I should anyways. I don't think it should be changed. And yes I know, people will hate me for it. I call myself an average player, I have never done raids because I already know that I won't be able to keep the elites happy 😉 But that said, the META event reminds of the old days when Guild Wars 2 just came out and we all had to learn how the mechanics of the lovely dungeons worked. We didn't complain back then that the dungeons were to hard, we kept trying, learning, trying, learning, until we finally managed to succeed. And once you've succeed, you know what to do and what not to do. And yes in this case, your luck depends on all those people who are with you trying to do the event. My tip is: Listen to your commander, listen to what the NPC's are saying, because they do give you valuable tips on what to do next. Plus, I know everyone loves to use their own builds but yes, for events like these it will help if you check online some builds that do good dps and cc and quickness (I am a noob myself when it comes to these things). Also having a lot of firebrands in your team, works as well! (That's how I managed to get the egg). As I understand the frustration of failing over and over again (I took me five tries), the more you do it, the better you get at it as you learn what to look out for, when to dodge and yes in the end the dodging part is a pain in the butt but once you get the hang of it, it gets easier. And once you learn something, don't keep your knowledge to yourself, share it with others who struggle. So, my point basically is: Be happy that we finally have something challenging again, something you can learn from instead of rushing through it and saying after you've done it "When comes the next living story? I'm bored, I've done everything.." 😉
  13. Kaineng has one tea house, it's awesome, that's for sure, but there is an event often running. When the event is happening, you can't sit on the chairs, which are actually fun, as you're really drinking tea when sitting down. (sorry if that's a spoiler) The amount of open areas in Kaineng I think is great, less chances of having people choosing the same spot for the RP events I guess, but on the other side, the size of it also makes it hard to find public RP. But that's just me maybe. I do love Arborstone I must say and Club Canach, both great areas to RP, if the trolls leave you alone. Which in time I think will happen once the story continues and people have less reason to be in Arborstone besides the fully rested boon.
  14. All in all, I think the Guild Hall system could use an upgrade. Maybe now they've moved to "newer" technology that we'll see some changes in the far future. Who knows. The hall is beautiful, that's for certain!
  15. And there are less and less new open homes (the kind you can walk in to) added. I think the only city that actually still has a couple is the Reach, but beyond that.. Old Lion's Arch had many lovely areas for RP.. The new one.. yes there are areas one can RP but in my opinion it isn't the same. Now the new cities in the expansion, I could only find a tea house.. which of course looks amazing, but I'd hoped for more, certainly in such a big city. And yes, there are many open areas, but sometimes one just wants a roof above their head. It all went down hill when Lion's Arch and shortly after Fort Salma got destroyed, which was a lovely RP spot as well. I never really understood why instances had to be closed off by invisible walls, I mean some areas you can only get into by doing the personal story, which once you complete it, you can't go back.. while some areas are so lovely... *sighs* I guess it has to do with them being afraid people will find ways to exploit these areas.. idk.
  16. For the surroundings it's certainly worth it! It already has a lot of trees, even cherry blossoms! But yes, I noticed the same, sadly no new decorations. I checked the decoration tab in the guild hall and couldn't spot any new icons either. But hopefully we'll get some in the future...
  17. I just claimed the Isle of Reflection for personal use tonight with the help of a couple of strangers. Woo! And I must say, I love how the guild hall looks, the size is just perfect, not to big, not to small. There are lovely areas and it does remind me a bit of my guild hall in GW1. I only have one negative thing about it... At least from my RP point of view... Some open houses/rooms to decorate would have been nice. The workshop T1 would be great for decorating, though sadly there is this annoying fog inside of it. And yes I know, it's there to stimulate people to work on the upgrade.. But yeah, I do miss buildings to decorate. And before I get comments that this isn't the sims, I know. I just mean to say that if they had been there, it would have been nice. Certainly since we don't have player houses in game. But overal, I love it and will enjoy spending the next two years working on the upgrades.
  18. I'm not good at JP's either, but I didn't have any problems with this part of the story, just go to the one that's easy to reach, Then get off your mount, like mgee said, run back to the boxes, pick them up again with your raptor and go back to the same location. This worked for me last night. (not sure if it was a bug, if so it might not work anymore like that)
  19. I don't think it will be the end of Guild Wars 2. After the dragons, there is still a lot more to discover, maybe even new things that we don't know about yet. Maybe even a new race that could be discovered? Perhaps the gods return, or some new kind of threat rises. I mean, I believe, if I remember correctly, there must be somewhere in the world a second pale tree? (Unless we find out about that in Cantha...) Or maybe we go underground to find out that there are still dwarves there who haven't been affected by the curse that turns them to stone.... I personally hope that the 'Pact' comes to an end, giving us more stories on the different orders, which of course will be unlikely but I wouldn't say no to it. There are so many options still left, but I do agree, it would also give them a good reason to start a fresh new game. I guess only time will tell.
  20. Yes, I know. Waiting till February 1st for the release date of a game that is ,by their own saying, released in February. That's what bothers me a bit and is the reason why I so far haven't pre-purchased and I guess why I ain't hyped yet for it to come.
  21. I was very excited for HoT, the silver wastes events helped with that, at least for me. They kept me motivated to play the game and helped with having to wait for HoT to be released. And of course, there was Colin to keep the hype train going. For PoF I was excited as well, this mostly because I was very curious to see how Elona would turn out to be. I love how some of the maps turned out, the architecture of the buildings are amazing. EoD. I've tried to be hyped for it, but for some reason I don't feel very connected yet with the story, or even the reason why we're going there. Perhaps this is because I didn't spend much time playing the living story, but it just feels for me that there is something missing. Fishing? Yeah sounds fun when you have too much spare time. Skiffs? Yes, I like it, always wanted to own a boat. I think there will be many people who disagree with me, but for me a good selling point would have been private housing. Yes we got guild halls that we can decorate, but I would like for my commander to have her own home, where I can put down trophies of her (my) accomplishments, which I can decorate and invite my friends to when we're just AFKing for a while. And as I progress in the story, more rooms of her home would become unlocked, as reward. Though I'd hate it if they were locked behind Raids. Everyone should be able to unlock it. We've a collection of books, it would be great to store them there in a library so that could read back on our adventures without it cluttering up our inventory space (for those who don't toss them away). Our legendary weapons, armor, all on display in an armory and so on. Crazy ideas that would have made me more excited than getting a boat. But one can dream 😁 But to come back to the question: No, I'm not that excited for EoD yet. The other two I bought instantly when they became available, though at this moment I still haven't pre-purchased EoD and I'm still doubting if I should. Perhaps this is also due to the fact that the release date is.. released pretty late.. we're still waiting for it. Perhaps it is a new tactic and maybe they'll say: "..in a hour, by the end of this stream, EoD will be live!.." Who knows. I just don't feel hyped yet.
  22. I used to RP on the EU servers, though I stopped about a year ago when most RPers left the game or moved to the NA side. EU had too much drama happening (the downside of RP), which caused for people to move on. Plus.. I think if GW2 had a housing system, like ESO has, the RP community would still be more alive today as this would have given people their own place to RP. Plus more emotes, even if it would only be idle standing poses or more ways to sit, those would have helped as well. But for now I don't think it would be worth the time to invest in it all. It feels like it's a bit too late for it. Although many RPers love Cantha.. So, perhaps the community will be revived a little bit once Cantha comes.. Time will tell I guess. I personally loved to RP in the game, as it made the world feel more alive. Seeing people RP in open world with /me is always great to see, be it in a Tavern in the Reach or in the open field. Though as mentioned by others, sadly if there is any RP left, most of it is done in private squads / parties.
  23. I get it that some people can't afford a new pc, even I struggle with that. My current pc is from early 2016 and currently I'm trying to save up money to be able to buy a new one next year. (Like the put the ten dollar bill in a Jar example a few posts up by Steve the Cynic) Now of course mine doesn't run on windows XP, but say it was, I would understand it if I wasn't able to play the game anymore. Windows XP, Windows 7, are both ancient, no longer supported by windows updates, making them high risk for being hacked and so on. So instead of worrying about not being able to play the game you love anymore I'd more worry about the risk you take each time you go online with a pc that runs on XP. But that's me. Plus I would want for GW2 to go forwards with its time, like every other game does. It's better for the future of the game (hopefully). And I am sure, that if you look around there are also shops which sell second hand pc's that aren't the newest but at least upgraded to windows 10 for less money than having to buy a complete new pc. If you truly want something, you can find a way to get it. (legally, no stealing!)
