  1. The nice people here are only gonna offer solutions. They will not complain with you on the subject. So keep that in mind. I sense a bit of "I want it all and I don't want to do anything for it." I am not scolding you for it. I am just stating what message you give out.Everything of value takes time in this game. Like you get what you put in. I remember my beginnings and what I did was tons of PvE actually, and it's still my main and the only game mode I am interested in. That's the reason I have all my 9 characters ascended geared and 8 legendaries. They are supposed to be more or less easy to get depending on the type of content you wish to complete. WvW and PvP have their own system that deals with ascended gear. If you don't like raids and fractals (how I got my ascended stuff) then WvW, PvP and crafting are your options. I remember when I was heavily invested in PvP like 3 years ago, I made hundreds of gold per season. Gold was not an issue. Please, be patient! And put in the time, if you choose to, and get yourself some nice shiny gear. Consider fractals too. But again, it takes time. That's the common denominator for everything you'd like to have in this game and is actually of great value. Also, the point of Grandmaster Marks is for you to avoid crafting altogether. You have Raids, Fractals, Strike Missions, PvP, and WvW loaded with ways to get ascended gear without crafting. In 4 years I've crafted 0 ascended items. 0! There is no game out there that will let you in the end game stuff without you putting your time in it. And if you like the game enough, you will find ways (like a few people here have stated) to gear your one and only character. Good luck.
  2. No, Tim! I want to get them done with people who know how to dodge. I do not want to spend 1hour or an eternity teaching people who are well in their masteries that there is such a thing as dodging red AOE. I learned how to dodge 4 years ago when I started this game. I had 0 hold handing. I just was very interested in the game and how I could improve and I did. Got into a raid guild, tested with beginners, learned raids, and then found a static, then another one. And now I am at a place where I can dodge red AOEs and perform normally in general content. Nobody taught me anything until I put in the time and willingness and the research. I watched clips of various raids bosses to prepare myself for the mechanics. I deserve to have it easier. I deserve to select the people I play with. And its my experience. It doesn't need to be yours. It's all good. Do you do that? Do you put in the time to learn? Or just come here on the forum to complain? LI requirements in groups doesn't prevent you from learning at your own pace, from playing the game the way you want to. It's all fine. But I am in charge of my game experience. Not you. I don't believe it's the game design that turns people away from harder content. It's the people complaining about things that they are not willing to learn. What exactly is your problem with raiders? They are not cool kids, nobody is here, really. I met great kind raiders, and I met toxic raiders. And I chose to continue with the groups that suited me. I learned fractals, cuz I was interested in more in learning the game than complaining that people were asking for KPs when I had none. Ofc the community is split between skill levels. Why would that even be a problem!? Why are you making into a problem. Not everyone is willing to put in the time to get mechanically good in a game. And why should they. It's a personal choice. Respect that! "So no matter how much longer you take to clear Boneskinner or Whisper of Jormag with a random group, just don't ask for LI." I believe you have quite the nerve to ask me how I should spend my time in the game, how much and with whom. Make your own groups and enjoy this game at the pace and level you want to. Nothing wrong with that. Yes, I've sadly realised after writing this post and reading most comments, that people are entitled to value their time and thus only want to do strikes with LI group. It's ok! I think it's just important to enjoy our time in the game the way we can. <3
  3. Unfortunately, I am not able to play either. It disconnects every minute or so. Been playing for about 4 and a half years and I've never had to log out of the game because I was unable to do content. I won't even touch Fractals till this gets fixed. :( I hope they get on to it. If they do, they might not announce it, who knows. But let's keep a close eye on this situation and start writing here if we see it resolved. It's up to them what type of communication strategy they're opting with. Obviously there is much we don't know. Imma just plays the game, if I can, when I can, regardless of whether Anet starts talking to its player base or not. The only thing I don't get is the lack of acknowledgment of technical issues like these. It's very weird and I can only hope that the company is doing alright. We'll find out sooner or probably later.
  4. THE LACK of creativity, inspiration and vision has never been more apparent up until now. It's the first time ever I comment about a balance patch. No offense, I love the game and a lot of what you have done with it. However, this is such lazy work. What really needs balancing is you. Cuz you won't be able to truly bring joy to players if you are going to keep this up. Your version of the "balance patch" feels rushed, improvised, and cut short. I think that all the players complaining are right when they bring forth your unwillingness to truly balance the professions in a way that ALL feels good and rewarding to play NO MATTER the game mode. I don't know who is forcing your hands if someone is actually doing that, but unfortunately, this balance patch doesn't spark much. You're taking things away and then reverting those changes because you are out of ideas. You are screwing up elementalists as if the game has been broken by that class. You are not fixing condi thief in PvP. Sigh...also, what was wrong with having firebrand be a great healer? What a balance patch. What comes to mind about it as a conclusion is that you all must be experiencing a total eclipse in terms of true creativity.
  5. I strongly advise you to stay away from the dumpster that is PvP unless you want to do the Drizzlewood Reward Track that gives like 14 clovers or smth like that. And no, the build you were playing currently has 0 impact.Stay away. Move on! Be happy! Enjoy WvW or PvE, I just don't encourage you to play with bots and bot like people.Cheers!
  6. PvP is a much better place now that we don t have a stun lock whoops you re dead class. No, thank you. The no damage on stun was a HUGE QoL improvement.Let's not revert what works. And it's also a lazy mechanic. Like condi spam.
  7. Hello all! This is meant to be an informative and educational post. And mainly meant to help players (the ones that want to) make better choices based on the most coveted outcome: the big WIN.I also want to disclose that I am in no shape and form a great PvP player. By some standards, I might be a bad player, or by other standards, I might be just average. So, I've noticed this obsession with FAR, not in the sense of decapping it by the most mobile class on your team but by let's say: engineers, necros (this is the one that ticks me the most) and dh class (squishy PvE build). This strategy results in a loss almost every time. Another disclosure here. A quarter of my games are ridden with bots. But the other ones I actually see players: Going on far, dying every time on full enemy team respawn.Going on far when you have 2 points (and you are at an advantage in team fights) and full capping instead of just decappingComplete failure to keep close because one of the team members wastes half the game walking from base to far only to die in under 1 minute (at best).I write this post in hope that some of the better players here can explain the complex nuances of the far strategy and help a tiny fraction of the community reading this post understand more about when they should be looking at far as a good strategy to tip the scales. How I understand the close, far strategy works. Only if you are a team weak in team fights (no necro on your team, no form of support)Most of your team is more mobile (revs, thieves, rangers)If so, I believe it is beneficial to fight side nodes more and take (cap mid) when safe. WHEN SAFE! Most of the game I lose (when there is a fighting chance on both sides) is because one of my teammates chooses to be food for far. I am not playing at an MMR where people know what kiting is. So they genuinely stay on the point until they run out of cooldowns and hp.When did this become a cool thing? And with this strategy I see losses happen every time, EVERY TIME! Help!?Ty!

  9. I know. I realized that as you guys started coming up with these conclusions. It's a futile post and subject but I am super grateful for people keeping it calm and steady. I mainly put this idea out there cuz maybe smarter people than me can figure this one out. Cuz I sure can't. Anyway, thanks for your input! Have a good one!
  10. In four years I've never left a group out in the open, neither raids nor fractal groups. I do not go into fractals or raids if I know I don't have the time to invest.Sure, I've had some life events such as pizza at the door, etc but I never left a group and never leeched of a group. But thank you! Your answer and the people on Reddit answers are enlightening. I understand now where the majority of players are at in terms of what's normal in group content and what's not. A helpful experience. Thank you.
  11. ^this. In the last couple of months, I've encountered many leavers in my fractal groups.Just to get this excuse out of the way: yes, I understand life happens. Ofc it happens and sometimes one needs to attend to rl.But what I am experiencing is not that. Just people joining for the most difficult fractal and then leaving. Today I had to remake the group FOUR TIMES, because of reasons like: oh it's gonna take too long to find another warriorblank, some just leaveoh, I just did CM, 10x, bye!So, there are popular games that managed to create a Leaver System where malevolent people, those who simply leech of groups to get the harder fractals, are actually held accountable. I will throw a couple of ideas here to discourage this sort of behavior: Make it so that if a player leaves more than 2 groups in 24 hours, they will get like a sign/symbol/aura next/above/below their character. So we can know who is actually a leaver. And to have a choice on whether we would like to risk being left standing stupid for the last fractal or just give up altogether. Make it so that the symbol thingy can be cleansed if they do not leave any fractal groups for 7 days. So, a fair trade. If a player undermines the experience of other players, let's discourage that. They stop engaging in this sort of behavior, let's encourage that. So, you don't infringe on anyone's freedom to do whatever. But don't sit passively while some people have their experience of the game ruined.I mean, this is obviously a casual game. I am casual too. But it's so annoying to have to look for a player for just one or two fractals. It's just the system that doesn't really hold anyone accountable. Other games like WoW managed to create a fair system to punish leavers. And by continuing to encourage casualness (I will use this generic, harmless word though I'd like to say something else here), you are allowing other players to be affected and turned away from certain game modes. Please, put your wonderful creative minds at work and really look at a fair system that benefits all.Not creating a punishing system for leavers isn't bringing you more money, but feeling, as a player, that my time is respected when engaging your game, surely will bring more loyalty.
