  1. Honestly, open world leggy armor has sold me. Already it has more exciting perks to me than the entirety of EoD did. That's one x-pac I might not buy again if I knew then what I know now. At least this time it's being upfront about what to expect in terms of story/maps.
  2. Honestly, just adding my voice to say I hate this change. Take them off the salvage table, just don't take away the food!
  3. To me it comes down to the masteries feeling more like busy work and micro-managing than fun. The maps are in all expansions are beautiful, obviously, but EOD has felt so empty and that left an impression. Not excited about the metas, but PoF had that same problem. Story was enjoyable, but not head and shoulders above the the others. There's just nothing there right now that excites me. I haven't logged in for days now, and I'm surprised by that, honestly. I just haven't found anything that pulls me back in, but I have hope for whatever the Living World brings. That's the real value for the expansions IMO, along with masteries - but as I said, the masteries this time around aren't fun. Useful, sure, but just ... ugh. Hate the micro-managing they bring. Don't let your buffs fall off, only change your modules here, creating research notes is just a gold/time sink and doesn't feel good. Arborstone just feels like a huge stretch for a mastery line and should have been baseline Skiffs are only good for fishing, and I don't enjoy the fishing game. Turtle is niche and is just a toy without being useful for my play style. The only one I enjoy and feels good is the zip line. They all just all feel bad, even if the jade bot bonuses and boosts are useful. I am also not really excited about the new elite specs. Golemancer is nice for some relaxed farming, but ... I kind of hate how huge it is. That's just a me thing though.
  4. Yep, you nailed it. That's exactly what people are asking for. That was sarcasm for the people in the back.
  5. True - they told us it was a collection comparable to the roller beetle. What part of the roller beetle collection required a coordinated effort where everyone else had to bring their A game and you had to hope and pray that more than a handful of people didn't mess up? The Ley-Line Anomaly was the hardest event for that collection, and to start it all you had to do was talk to someone. Perhaps you should be blaming Anet for setting unrealistic expectations rather than players who feel disappointed.
  6. That's not inflammatory at all. It's a perfectly perfectly calm and reasonable point to persuade people to your point of view. Now excuse me while I roll my eyes at you. No one gives a kitten that you beat it. Congrats. I don't care for the meta, so am not beating my head against it. I am more than happy for you to have a double headed turtle or sparkly eyesore to PROVE you EARNED it you special little snowflake. I don't exactly care about the turtle for the turtles' sake. I do care that they decided to dedicate a mastery line to it and then gate it behind hard content. Hide all the shinies in the world behind that content, I don't care one bit and I don't care about your special trophies. A mastery line in an already weak (IMO) line up of masteries, which is a main selling point of an expansion, just like elite specs - nah. That's where I draw the line. That's the entire problem with the meta.
  7. That is NOT how I took that at all. For me it was a humanizing moment for Joon. All we know of her is her work with Jade Tech - it's good to be reminded that people have lives outside what we are shown.
  8. As a mount, I am not super excited about it, but I can see some situations where I would want it. I'm not in a hurry, but it being locked behind this mess makes me mad. So it's not that I am desperate to have it, but if this mount is going to take up one whole mastery line, then I feel like I'm owed that mastery. This expansion was already stretching with the Arborstone being a mastery.
  9. I haven't trained it yet - I'm still unsure if I want to. My main is a necro which is pretty good at getting up herself, so I will think on it.
  10. I understand people like them and want to see them, and that's fine, I would be more than ok with an option that lets players see their own but not others - the maps are already so cluttered with batteries and stations that I'd rather not see a lot of bots. Then again, I usually get annoyed by my own minis, so we are definitely on different wavelengths 😛
  11. Honestly, I'd say don't be in a rush, but probably worth in the long run. I'm saying this assuming that the living world will offer more. As it is right now, the masteries are underwhelming for me and don't really bring any QoL features like gliding or mounts. Arguably the Jade bots offer utility because they boost vitality and offer extra bonus goods or currency if you want. I don't know how good the various modules for the bot are right now, but it's about the only tangible advantage the masteries give. The skiffs and fishing are fluff and their value is determined solely by the user. The metas are not better or more rewarding than the others. The maps are beautiful, but feel empty. Think PoF - really nice and fun to see new scenery, but ultimately it's just same old same old. The events aren't super engaging or interesting IMO. The story is good and I like the characters, but you can experience that through videos if it's important to you. So right now, if you're on the fence, there is no rush, you're not missing much. Living World content may change that for you and as far as I can tell you're not missing much by waiting until that content is available.
  12. Crowd Control (CC) has been the terminology forever across many games and I first came across the term playing D&D. So yeah, there probably is a better way to describe it for new players, but I think CC is just here to stay. People explaining fights and mechanics should not assume that everyone knows the gaming lingo. In the heat of the battle, CC is fine - prior to the battle is when CC should be defined.
  13. A-men to all of this. I am old, a gaming computer is not my priority, I just like this game and I am tired of people telling me that I just need to try harder or research my build. Whatever. I can do challenging solo content, but in open world metas, I end up getting frustrated at things not rendering properly and fighting my computer more than the boss. I'm still one of their players whether you like it or not. I have accepted that there is a lot in this game that I don't enjoy or just can't manage and I'm fine with that. I think the difficulty for this open world meta is asking too much of regular, casual players, and it's leaving a bad taste in people's mouths. It's also horrible word of mouth advertising that I can't imagine they are happy with. Poor decision on their part. I'll get my egg eventually somehow, I am not in a hurry, but in the meantime I feel a little bit cheated out of a mastery - but to be fair, I feel cheated out of basically the entire suite of masteries for this x-pac because none of them are really fun or impactful, just micro-managing busy work and things we have gotten before for free - I'm looking at you Arborstone.
  14. Yeah, the ideas aren't bad, but I feel like I'm micro-managing a lot of little things - keep my battery charged, check my buffs that all look the same, changed maps, start over blah blah. I also don't like the jade boosts and batteries scattered everywhere, it looks ugly. I'm not a huge fan. And the fact that my alts can't use them until I craft a core for them ... that felt really bad when I discovered that. Why even put zip lines in the first map cause who's going to go back often enough to use them and having them there is just a tease.
  15. That's a cool experience for you. My computer is a potato and doesn't render some of the big tells that you need to react to in the meta. I didn't realize what was killing me until I saw videos on it - there's a tail swipe? huh. Yeah, that's my problem and I'm fine with it. It's not worth it to me to update my computer for a game - that's not my priority. Step outside your own experiences and try to see it through other people's situations. Some people have physical issues that limit their cap. Some players are dealing with ping that severely hampers some parts of the game. Some, like me, don't have a computer that renders the game perfectly in all situations. Some people have really bad internet connections - not all of the country/world has the same quality available. To add to that, I am 50+, so my reflexes aren't what they used to be, and I am far from the oldest person I've met playing this game. I can do challenging content solo, but I hesitate in high end group content with a lot of things that need to be rendered because I don't want to be the weak link. So yeah, pushing people into challenging content is a nice goal and all, but it's really not ever going to be a thing for everyone, and that's ok. If they wanted the mastery to be more of a trophy for higher end-content, then they should have marketed it that way. Right now I'm feeling that the masteries are pretty meh and having one yanked out from under me feels even worse. It's not that I super want the turtle, but since it's taking up a mastery slot, I feel kind of cheated. They should have made it a "secret" mount and made a new mastery line.
  16. Apparently the ultimate battle that's the climax of 10 years of storytelling doesn't include rewards. Figures.
  17. Honestly, I haven't bothered to educate myself on the system yet. It just looks like busywork that I don't want to deal with yet.
  18. I kind of hate that Arborstone is being pushed as the only utility area in the maps, and yet it's a mastery so we feel like we're getting something special.
  19. Yep, message received. The turtle is not meant to be enjoyed by certain types of players, and I am one of those players. It’s a shame, and I feel like I am being dismissed as a customer. The turtle is meant to be and end game mount, fine, but please manage your players’ expectations because now I just feel cheated. I will get over it, but it’s leaving a bitter taste in my mouth. I swear this game is two steps forward, one step back … then another step back, then maybe two steps forward again eventually.
  20. Well, I can solo champs on my own, but in open world metas, my computer is kitten. I'm one of those that aren't going to "get good" in certain content. My problem and I'm pretty much fine with that. It just means that I am not going to be useful in the DE meta because I don't see a lot of the stuff I'm supposed to react to until it's too late. I still want a turtle.
  21. I don't care about the difficulty of the meta. If they wanted to make it epic and hard, fine. If they want to lock some high level collections behind it, again, I don't care. Not completing Dragon Stand didn't block you from the legendary crafting mastery, it just blocked you from specific skins for legendaries. HUGE difference IMO. And again, I do appreciate the content. We need more content creators and my original remark was just me being a little salty, so I hope you didn't take it personally.
  22. OMG this. I just started playing a mech and it's already driving me crazy.
