  1. If they cared about PvP then there wouldn't be 5 of the same class as a winning comp in a monthly tournament. They don't care and/or they're grossly incompetent. Don't make excuses for people that aren't doing their job.
  2. In any other game catalyst would have been hotfixed within 2 weeks. I was excited to come back to the game after 2 years but the balance is as shameful as always so I think I'm heading back to WoW.
  3. I agree ranked should be SoloQ only. I got to rank 16 mostly solo queueing (around 1/3 of my games were duo but I hit rank 16 solo) but then I kinda just stopped playing because it wasn't realistic for me to get top 10 while solo, and I've already gotten top 25 before so I don't really care. We shouldn't have the game disincentivizing you from even playing if you don't have a duo online. Other competitive games such as League of Legends don't allow duo queuing at the highest ranks.
  4. Scepter catalyst hard counters spellbreaker. Against a good cata, spellbreaker will never land a single burst skill between triple blind, invuln, and dodges.
  5. What a lot of these classes have in common is that they can block for very long periods of time. Ele has block and invulnerability. Warrior has block and endure pain. Vindi has 2 blocks. Tools holo has the holo shield utility, shield block, and toolkit block. They're just immune to damage for too long. In the past you had thief and unlockable necro marks to keep these skills in check, but Arenanet has made thief useless and necro mediocre. Thief honestly just feels completely useless right now. Classes have so much mobility that thief isn't that special anymore, and in terms of actual fighting, thief is by far the worst class in small scale skirmishes. Buff thief and necro and nerf ele and I think the meta will be better.
  6. I think the biggest problem is and always has been balancing. Arenanet doesn't know how to balance the game at all. They always do massive sweeping changes that make some classes unplayable, and other broken. This makes casual players quit the game when their class becomes garbage, or when they get farmed by a high level player playing a broken spec. Arenanet hasn't learned after 8 years and they probably never will. I don't really understand how they're that incompetent.
  7. I agree, core necro feels like it has the potential to be good but it just doesn't do enough damage. I think they should look at buffing core shroud, it just doesn't do anything compared to harbinger or reaper shroud.
  8. You're complaining about herald and reaper, two classes which are well balanced and almost nobody complains about. This is a player skill issue. Also there were much worse metas in this game in the past. Cele ele meta, scourge firebrand meta, etc. The game is fairly balanced right now with the only big outlier being catalyst.

  10. The problem with scepter ele is that it's almost like hammer warrior in terms of skills that you are forced to dodge, except it does more damage and is ranged and has blind spam. I think they should either heavily nerf water trident or remove the charges. They should definitely get rid of the charges on Blinding Flash, that's just not a fun mechanic to play against. Catalyst in general could also use some nerfs because hammer catalyst does too much damage. They're inevitably going to nerf warrior because the class isn't allowed to be meta for more than a patch, so they need to nerf hammer catalyst also or it will be uncontested in 1v1.
  11. I don't play necro at all, it's literally my least played class, so I'm not biased at all. I agree it could use some buffs, especially reaper and core necro. I wouldn't mind both of those specs having some more damage or tankiness, they have clear weaknesses that they need to play around, and their damage is skill based and avoidable.
  12. As a former warrior main and former #2 best warrior in North America I have absolutely no problem with gutting spellbreaker and buffing core/berserker.
  13. They need to buff core warrior and berserker and just remove spellbreaker from the game. Nobody enjoys spellbreaker, playing it or fighting against it. I actually can't play the class that I mained since 2017 because spellbreaker is so boring.
  14. Well scepter ele is the dominant spec right now and a lot of its damage comes from instant lightning strikes which you can only dodge by random dodging, so they can start off by nerfing scepter ele.
  15. My friend, I am already in the top 50 in NA and was actually top 20 two days ago before I had a losing streak. I've faced many of the top Elementalists already. I played scepter catalyst for several hours before I felt disgusted with myself and dropped it. The class is disgustingly overpowered.
  16. I was dueling a Catalyst today. I dodged his phoenix flames and dragons tooth. The fight was going fairly evenly. Then he randomly water tridents me for 5k twice and swaps to lighting and presses 2 and I die. Water trident, a skill that previously did zero damage, is randomly doing 1/3rd of my health. How is this acceptable? Why was this skill even changed? Ele scepter needs massive nerfs. The majority of the top 10 on NA is Catalyst players. I propose the following nerfs: - Dragon's Tooth damage nerfed by 33% - Pyromancer's Puissance might duration nerfed by 33% - Water Trident damage nerfed by 50% - Fortified Earth barrier reduced by 50% - Lightning Strike damage nerfed by 25% - Dust Devil now blinds on the last strike instead of the first Even with these changes I suspect catalyst will still be the top meta build, but at least it will be somewhat fair. The current state of scepter catalyst is absolutely ridiculous and Arenanet should be ashamed for releasing it in this state.
  17. They should just allow us to leave after 2 minutes of a player being AFK.
  18. I think mirage and virtuoso both need an overhaul. Mirage needs two dodges and needs to be balance accordingly, one dodge just feels terrible.
  19. I doubt you're facing plat players if you're a silver. I'm in high gold right now and my matches have been generally well balanced unless I'm playing at weird hours. If you're facing a harbinger and you're not doing any damage, it may be because they have weakness on you. Weakness massively reduces the damage you deal so you need to cleanse it. Harbinger can spam out weakness without really trying so even if he was another silver player if he just uses his skills he'll have weakness on you.
  20. I just came back to the game last week. It doesn't seem dead to me. If anything, there's more players than there were 2 years ago when I quit.
  21. Hello, I recently returned to the game and I'm having a lot of fun. What isn't fun, however, is my old main, warrior. Spellbreaker is a snoozefest. What classes do you guys enjoy playing in PvP? Thanks

  23. Hello, I am planning on returning to the game after not playing since Path of Fire release. How is the state of the game nowadays, specifically on the North American server? I know this game never had an insane PvP population, but is PvP still playable with reasonable queue times? Last time I played I was around top 25 level and burned myself out constantly tryharding for top 10. This time I plan on playing more casually. I'll probably play WvW and some PvE also. Thanks.
