  1. A mech bot skin I guarantee would sell like hot cakes. Even if all they did was used an existing skin of which they have probably 100s to chose from. Why? Because people are sick of the giant green blob resulting from a dozen mechanists in one area if nothing else. Its only funny the first time. Rangers have had dozens of skins to select from based on pet type and within each pet type many times a few skins. They are simply those from the "NPC" world. There is no reason they could not do the same with the mechanist bot. You could even use effectively the same code and menu system for selecting the bot "skin" just don't change its stats etc. Personally I'd pay as much for this as people pay for mount skins and what I'd prefer is to make my bot smaller and appear to perhaps hover. Think jade-bot but more like a combat unit and a bit larger rather than a pokemon rip off. A spherical unit with a single "eye" canon and a hydraulic driver on one side would be pretty sweet.
  2. This really is not a bug as I am sure it is "as intended" and I am by no means complaining but should we really allow people to select account bound non-usable items from awards? For instance, I just got a 10 year award and among the items one can pick are dyes. I simply did not notice I already had the dye I selected. Totally wasted 10 year award. Yes my fault. No I expect no "refund" etc. I simply think its not a good design to allow one to select items, especially in a VERY rare situation, that are 100% useless.
  3. Isn't a huge part of the game "gambling"? Every drop, every chest, every flush, etc. I agree tedious crap is tedious crap but welcome to MMORPGs. I do not like that aspect but it also adds to the game as well. In RL "things happen" and you can't control them. They are "dice rolls". So, I suppose in a way, such is the game. Sometimes perceived randomness is better than mundane constants.
  4. First thank you for the Mechanist build. Great work. As many others have noted it would be nice to dye the bot or better have skins. One of the things Guild Wars has always had a strong role in is everyone in the game looks "unique". Having 20 mechanists running around with their bots out just looks goofy. Some level of customization would help with this immensely. Just like skins on boats, mounts, etc would be good and I guarantee people will pay for them. Even if we had a mechanism like hunters finding different pets someway to "discover" other bots even if only cosmetic would be very cool. Either way, thanks for the profession. Loving it.
  5. Oh well. No gold for "whomever". I would not though I have others that cost vastly less. Scholars for instance.
  6. Is it just me or are the cost of Whisper's items (eg: to get backpack) astronomical versus other pursuits? 5g 52s 0c for a short bow "skin"? You need almost the entire lot (or the whole lot?) to get this backpack. Seems absurd. Yes I can go for others for far cheaper but why is this as it appears to be?
  7. Grenades and Bombs suffer nearly every line item listed yet they work fine in the water and your default weapon in the water has a "wall" (net). Yawn to the juggernaut is a noob trap.
  8. Yep I am asking flamethrowers work in the water or at the very least make Juggernaut work with the Elixer Gun. Flames in water that's ridiculous! Right, because the game is based on realism. I'd like to see you throw grenades 10s of meters while submerged. This wrecks a primary build for FT engineers by effectively disabling the Juggernaut trait in the water. The necro used to lose their elite skill minion and they "fixed" that (like necros have ever needed fixing) so why cant you make Juggernaut apply to a water kit or make flamethrower work in the water? I suppose other professions suffer this same fate but to date nothing I have played but granted I do not play all professions all the time and some rarely under water. Regardless I'd suggest "fixing" them too.
  9. Sorry for the spew but WTH. 😃 The appropriate question is why does engineer still suck so bad versus everyone else. Even a barrier build is trash versus the weakest most incompetently played elementalist weaver build. Once a LONG TIME AGO IN A GW2 THAT NEVER EXISTED OUTSIDE BETA we had these things called turrets and kits. While some kits don't outright "suck" they are, now, by design subpar (eg: they will never be ascended+ *yawn* to those claiming they are). Turrets, a key trait of an engineer, are 99.9% (add a vinculum to that last 9)useless. One might think if you are going relegate some foundational build piece of a profession to the trash (permanently from day 2ish?) you would at least have the common curtesy to replace it with an "equivalent" (dont even say gyros). At least the free placement trait like 8 years ago gave some hope but again, nerf. meh I love my FT engineer but compared to any other profession, they suck and border on no point for existing outside peoples desire for them to be something they will never be. My holo is ok but frankly pointless since I may as well run my necro which will do more, survive more, bring more, is just... more. Unless you desire the frequent flux of nerfville and uselessville go with anything else concentrating on a warrior, necro, mesmer, ele, etc. Eng was DOA a decade+ ago. To those that will claim its lack of knowing how to play. Sure I am not epic but when I can roll my face on the keyboard with a necro/druid/ele/etc and out do almost any engineer anywhere busting butt with good gear... Yah, the profession has massive issues. It always has and its not going to change if anything its going to get worse. Oh and to those that say HOT HP isnt for solo. I did it on a ranger, warrior, necro, elementalist, mesmer and (OMG) guardian, vastly easier than my engineer which failed and at one point I kitten near gave up. This was when HOT first came out. I finally had a build that did "meh" and then they nerfed us again making it so things like our shielding was (shield isnt the right word but same diff). The life of an eng in gw2 is to never be good, to always be nerfed soon as they fix something and never be needed. Good luck. 😃
  10. I love the fact an engineer was used as an example in this because it would have been advantageous if so but, as usual, a wreck if not. As usual, a wreck. Meanwhile an elementalist farts and drops 8-15K in barrier. running a condi weaver build.
  11. The internet is vast and there is very rarely a direct connection to where you’re trying to go. This means your connection will hop between numerous servers before reaching the final destination. Not everyone follows the same connection route and some people’s route may be completely different. It’s very probable that there could be an issue somewhere along the way that impact people from different locations who share a similar connections that have an issue. For example, there are servers in Colorado that my ISP routes me through. If there were issues there, it could impact everyone that has their connection routes through there. Yep, trace routes indicate this. It wasn't "in between" on a hop. The pandemic started many months ago with more and more people using the internet from home. This puts a strain on the ISP infrastructure and many have had difficulties coping with it. Many ISPs have been doing bandwidth throttling as well. Again read on, you clearly didn't with that response. MMOs typically use a TCP connection which is most likely different from what you use at work. MMOs also send a lot of data back and forth and small interruptions can cause issues. Everything sends data back and forth and if you understood how the various pings and trace routes work you wouldn't have even bothered with that comment. As I said just above, those connections are all different from that of MMO games. In short, irrelevant comment. If you would prefer I will list the 30+ other "services" which include MMOs and others. ie: PoE, Eve, dozen or so steam peer to peer and server based games, Zoom, Teams, Jitsi, etc. Anyhow take it or leave it. They just lost numerous players and hence the "complaint". How this works is you go to the services that work. Their's doesn't hence it's no longer used. Simple economics of customer experience.
  12. I have been on GW2 off/on for 9+ years and GW1 before that. I think this game and the company are fantastic but something seems to have landed in the gears of operations. Perhaps it is a technical problem that is impractically solvable. I get it if so. This stuff is not easy and it is anything but cheap. Here is hoping you resolve it but in the mean time the "diatribe" begins... I have several family and friends that are in numerous US states on services from local cable to comcast to local dsl to century link. They all have the same problem. Dozens of random people in game have the same problem at the same time. Ad infinitum. This began many months ago but it is epic now and never to have been witnessed in the past outside major identified outages. The game, perhaps 70% of the time in a "group setting", is unplayable (can login but cant actually "play"). In many cases you outright get disconnected from the servers. I have a latency of 40-250ms depending on AWS regions (ie: aws asia gets as high as 280ms (avg 190ms) whereas in my country of origin I have pings as low as 38ms (avg 58ms). I work with AWS frequently for work with zero problems. Tests to EU, US, CA, MX all bring in pings of ~40-100ms with zero packet loss. My local connections are sub ms or close again with zero packet loss. No other "services" such as Amazon Prime video/audio, Netflix, Crackle and half a dozen others you may not have even heard of have zero problems on latency nor loss. I realize I am dropping what you have heard before but the fact is your services have major problems and at least from my personal perspective having an impact on your bottom line. Maybe that bottom line of those I know and myself is so insignificant it does not matter, so be it. Over the past dozen times I have been on I left the game because it's simply, without question, unplayable. I will never put a dime into this game again until this is resolved. I understand our current state of affairs is extraordinary to say the least but this is a time to shine or die. The game, for me, is dying because of this.
  13. My main became a shout staff druid with an axe and horn running an armored fish, jellyfish, jacaranda and bristleback. Not the most epic build but it was a simple blast to play. I was very hard to kill, brought some decent support to the group but did not do a lot of damage just ok. I used a lot of search and rescue and people I ran with loved me for it. Again, it was just fun. Now I do not play the ranger/druid at all. The main I looked to build to be a sort of average support/healer is now garbage. Nothing was specialized about my setup. I even had a celestial items in slots because I "wasnt sure what Id be doing". Nah, they nerfed this professions again, as it was 6+ years ago, into junk. The irony is they brought a bunch of "druidish" looking new items to the store near this time. I'd have actually, just maybe, forked out for them. Oh well. I'm not buying art for something I will never look at again and if I do it will be in 6+ years (ergo I wont). Nah, I just went back to the good ol never fails never "nerfed" Necro the god of roll face on keyboard and win profession. That's not a request to nerf the necro I just wish they would stop nerfing non-specialized built to "spec" professions. Oh well, truly in this case they lost cash, even if tiny, from me for this. My druid is probably parked at least as long as the ranger was. As noted, 6ish years ago which equates to never again. Suckage. Only way it could be worse is to be running an engineer which has "nerf" in its middle name.
  14. I love mounts. I think they bring a lot to game play but the roller mount is making dailies to do events sometimes take 30+ minutes because people "roll around" and take them out before anyone can do anything. Its not just dailies btw. I don't know what the solution is but its not getting rid of mounts nor roller mounts but its a problem. Flame me all you want. Its an unfortunate aspect of any mechanic that can grief people will be used by enough people to grief others to make the game painful. Its really impacting new players and that's a parrot of what I have been told by friends wanting to play. It might even be leveraged by your competitors to make your game unappealing which may sound far fetched until you consider the cut throat industry this has become. It reminds me of the "must be 80" to run a dungeon days that thankfully is dead.
