  1. This. Everyone I know uses this method. It is both quick and easy.
  2. That may vey well be the best summation of the concept I've seen.
  3. This. If Peitha doesn't turn out to be a trap/betrayal/whatever then this becomes the worst writing Ive ever encountered in a computer game story (perhaps worse out there but Ive not seen it). If it does turn out to be a trap then ANet is officially declaring that not only are our characters gullible morons but they believe we as players are as well.
  4. I completely agree with your view of "prestige" items (even if I dont see much prestige in an item acquired as is the obby armor). I call such items trophies. They represent effort spent on their acquisition. That said, I think the odds of ANet adding other rewards to a meaningful degree post launch are slim.
  5. Got it. I guess it could be useful then. I keep mine in shared inventory slots with cheap tools slotted on each character so that switching is quick. Not account wide use would be enough fo drive people to the legendary process.
  6. In what way is this significantly different from existing infinite gathering tools other than reskinning freely? Do you for the legendaries to have free access to all glyphs?
  7. This is an important distinction in my opinion. I think it would be unreasonable to expect no filler content in an MMO, but it is best used when there is a greater proportion of non-filler. A few events between story steps is ok when the story steps are more significant in scale, scope, duration, and/or engagement factor. I genuinely wouldn't care about filling an event bar in between truly unique or otherwise engaging story steps of significant scope.
  8. Hmm, a tumbleweed rollerbeetle skin as part of a plant themed set would be hilarious.
  9. A little disappointed that the overperformance of druid in competitive modes means that all ranger specs get a nerf for healing spring in all modes. Not happy about the change from on beast skill use to pet swap either.
  10. Not really. Keep in mind that a gambeson would often be worn under heavier armor. It is cloth, lighter than the typical medium armors in games (including this one) and so on.
  11. Interesting statement. You list farming as what there is to do in WoW while complaining that farming is what there is to do in GW2. And, by the way, in response to another of your posts: RPG does NOT mean loot. It means Role Playing Game. A storytelling game in which you take on the role of one of the characters in the story.
  12. I kind of like it, but dont spend a lot of time in SOTO so am not overexposed to the chests. I would enjoy it more if the Simon gameplay aspect kept going, getting faster and faster, until you failed. Then have the contents of the chest scale up based on how long you kept up.
  13. Who claimed that ANet is sneaking anything past us? The lessening of the game releases have been quite up front.
  14. A penguin gliding on its belly could be a fun Skimmer IMO.
  15. My guild squad was rushing to defend Air Keep, gliding to it from the camp when Air flipped while we were in mid flight. Probably only 25 or 30 of us when it happened but we all fell to our deaths. Absolutely hilarious and we still joke about gravity being the most dangerous foe on that map.
  16. Not sure that someone finishing this content quickly is rushing. I don't have to rush to cross my kitchen in a couple of seconds, its just not that large.
  17. Both sounds good to me. I was just curious as to why the other poster seemed to be okay with just visual cues but not with just audio.
  18. Advertised as not having this sort of stuff was one of the big selling points for GW2 for me. I get it, things change, but this is pretty bad IMO.
  19. Yeah, I was just trying to point out how silly it might be to focus on how unprotected one's character might be, realistically, due to a small gap while examples were being given that would be, realistically, even less protective. The entire obby heavy set would be awful if we really cared about realism instead of cool factor (and I do think the set looks cool despite the helm being a little small).
  20. Why is a visual cue, which people with poor vision might miss, okay but an audio cue which might be missed by someone with poor hearing is not?
  21. How do you balance that point of view with the fact that all of those much older, experienced, etc characters cannot handle their own problems and need the commander to come in and save them (while they contribute little to the effort). As to conflicts on a greater scale, like what? The commander has fought elder dragons, a god, and so on. Nothing we've seen from the characters in SotO indicates that they've faced worse, or could have done much against what the commander has left dead in his/her wake. And, to be clear, I would have preferred a more down to earth, gritty, approach to the commander's adventures where there might be a bit less to justify an ego the size of a planet but ANet decided to put the commander on scale with gods and elder dragons.
  22. I expected less from SotO because ANet stated up front that they would be delivering less. I had hoped that the reduced size would make it possible for ANet to provide better quality, but that seems to not be the case. I do believe that the amount of content at the price point of previous releases (PoF plus LW4 plus IBS) was unsustainable. I would have paid far more than the cost of just PoF for all that was included in the expac plus follow up seasons. In a way I did as I spent a lot of money in the gem store precisely because I felt that the content at that time (except Champions) was a fantastic value. SotO is the first time I actually regret spending money on the game. Not because of the price tag but because of the actual content included.
  23. I was referring to the spiky shoulder pauldrons on the WoW armor. That sort of design would prevent the armor from deflecting overhand strikes and would instead channel the full force of the blow into the wearer. Pretty much a death sentence as soon as it is donned. Far more of a risk than the small gap left by the helm due to the size of the target that is the pauldron, doubled because it is present on both sides.
  24. I dont know if you WvW enough to have currency stockpiled but the new weapons can be unlocked via an NPC.
