  1. Not at all, I'm just means I'm less confident with the new approach they are taking regarding the mini expac and stuff.
  2. It wont be in the next 2 months... it will be either june or july. Sorry but this patch was a complete lacklustre... People can say we got what they said we would(map, story content, variants) which is true but its still laughable. You can complete the story in 1h or so without even rushing and it ends with a nothing burger cliff-hanger, the map even tho is beautiful its basic and linear which you also can map complete in a less than an hour... The meta... oh my don't even get me started with that. I honestly think, like @Crono.4197 also said, they released this patch just for the sake of being a release. In my opinion this patch seems like a 1/4 of an IBS patch and that is saying something...
  3. There was massive layoffs during 2019 I believe which revealed that they were working on some other projects, they were cancelled after the layoffs. There are rumors now that ANet is helping Sony develop the Horizon MMO. Edit1: Just wanted to add why people are bringing this up, after LWS4 they said that there wouldn't be any more xpacs and announced IBS which would be, by their own words, LWS but with expansion level content. Alot of people didn't like that change and after the fiasco IBS was people got a bad taste on their mouth, also after those side projects were revealed because of the layoffs people got mad at ANet because they basically were neglacting Guild Wars 2. With this annoucement and with the rumor I mentioned people are basically feeling a deja vu.
  4. Agreed. I think there needs to be a narrative connection between 2 mini expacs for them to be able to create a fleshed out and interesting arc and characters. Maybe one mini expac will have an increased number of story chapters which I think then it could work out.
  5. What I meant by my post is that its going to be small and won't have enough time to be fleshed out, I don't think a mini-expac will have enough material and time to build and flesh out an interesting arc, but I guess that depends mostly on the number of story chapters each mini-expac will bring. I agree with you, the 10 year elder dragon arc was not the greatest!
  6. Come to think of it you are 100% right, I think if the blog post wasn't so blatantly vague alot of people would decide which side they are, if they like the changes or not. There is alot of uncertainity in the community right now and I think thats not a great thing. I think the biggest issue with the vagueness present in the blog post is that it shows ANet hasn't really made up their mind with specific things, things that you mentioned like: Price Actual Features Better view of this year timeframe Or maybe ANet already figured stuff out, which I hope they did, so why being so vague and secretive...
  7. Totally agree with you, for example the White Mantle Arc on LSW3 imo was well, not great, done but I hoped it went a little bit longer. I just hope the arcs are not too short, I hope ANet finds the correct amount!
  8. we haven't had any desert since the end of LSW4 so about 3 years ago why is this relevant now xD
  9. Ye I dont know how people are coming to that conclusion, at max we will have 2 mini xpcas per year so about 40 to 50$ a year if they changed the price from 30$ to 25$ or 20$, which is pretty reasonable imo if of course they deliver great content.
  10. Yep... I dont know how this announcement is even being seen as positive, like I said in my comment how does this make content better time and amount wise if ANet struggled multiple times with LSW3/LSW4 when having almost or sometimes all of the dev team working on it. Before we would have in a year 4 LSW episodes, every 3 months with festivals and other minor updates in the middle for free and now its 3 updates per year and you got to pay, I don't have an issue on the monetary decision honestly if they charged for LSW4 back then I would be fine with it since it had alot of big features on it. You could say the extra 4 months changing from trimestral to quarterly updates will help add more features, etc I dont realy believe it help that much. Maybe I'm being overpessimistic so if anyone can put in a better light what they said or if I'm missing something would be great!
  11. Thats true... I guess it depends on how many story chapters the mini expacs will have.
  12. I believe 2 years (which means 2 mini expacs) seems to be perfect length for a good story arc. For now the ball is on the narrative team
  13. Hello everyone, After reading the blog post posted on Monday I got concerned about the narrative direction the game might be going, I might just have misinterpreted but it seems every expansion will have a standalone arc. Won't this bring a dull and predictable narrative for each mini xpac or you think there might be a narrative connection between mini xpacs? Happy to discuss away! Note: When I say narrative connection I mean actual continuation of it, not mentioned about it here and there.
  14. I'm concerned as well, still excited but concerned. I must say like other already said I don't mind paying for content if its good, look at LSW4 even tho it had ups and downs it was an amazing season(imo). What I don't understand is how this change will make the development better... I'm going to ignore completely the monetary changes because what I'm more confused is, quoting what Grouch said, "Historically, with few exceptions, Living World seasons have required the focus of nearly the entire Guild Wars 2 development team to deliver them at the size, quality, and cadence that our players expect" how does moving from xpacs to mini xpacs with quarterly updates make the content better? If they struggled in the past during LSW3/LSW4 when almost and sometimes all the dev team was working on it. I'm trying to comprehend honestly and have no ill intent towards the game or the devs. Another thing is how vague the blogpost was, I think they could've went a bit more in detail what this new year will bring us but I guess time will tell. Finishing up my thoughts, at first when I read the post I was really really hyped but after rereading a couple of times I have put hype in check! One thing I'm excited, but correct me if I'm wrong, we will get a new xpac by the end of the year since we will get an update in 2 weeks and another in June/July which will be the two quarterly updates they mentioned!
