Since meta builds change frequently as ANet drops new balance batches, it's not a big ask for a player who's got 5k+ hours into the game and multiple sets of Ascended equipment or Legendary equipment to adapt to the new meta. It IS a big ask for brand new players (Steam anyone) or those with minimal time such as older players with kids and jobs to adapt to a constant shifting meta in a game that has over 40 different end game attribute combinations. Yes there may only be 5-10 that are meta at any one time, but again that can shift at the whims of a balance team that has made, shall we say, "questionable" decisions over the years.

This would be sound logic if:
-There had been no meta prior to the introduction of the legendary armoury
-There had been no balance patches prior to the introduction of the legendary armoury
-Everyone playing the meta were unemployed.
-Everyone was required to play the meta
Unfortunately reality interferes with your tired rhetoric

Hell, ANet could even add Legendary Insights as rewards for killing actual Legendary enemies in the Open World. Whether they be bounty targets, boss enemies like Tequatl and the Shatterer, or even the occasional Legendary that pops up during a RIBA farm. They would count against the 30 weekly cap, so whether you're killing bosses in the Open World or Raiding, you'd be subject to the same time frame.

Do you, in your heart of hearts, beleive that world bosses on farm, represent the same accomplishment as raid kills?
That Fire Elemental is as representative of a player's skill as Sabetha?

Do you even have a Commander Tag or even used it in PvE to guide people with content?

    Of course I do.
I lead metas and strikes all the time.
What I don't feel the need to do is smother new players who are enjoying the game for the first time, trivialize low level content for them because I don't believe them capable, and start forum threads asking for more gold/hour than someone who doesn't tag up.

Ultimately, the goal is improving the Commander experience, which from my sujective experience, was bad. Hence the poll
Rewards are just the mean. Could just be an achievement instead, but that's less incentivising and I don't have other ideas (that are way too elaborate for the discusssion)

Maybe I should have added a question like "are you happy with the state of commanding", but I felt like its covered by picking "no, the reward is having players follow you"

This doesn't change the fact that your solution was "moar loots plz".
No achievement, no extra bag of blue unids, no buff in your Karma is going to address the underlying issues you are pointing out.

This has ZERO to do with Steam.... why position it as such?

Slightly clickbait title but I'm not sure how to better sum it up.

Basically with the Steam release, something you keep hearing is "be nice to new players, help them have a good experience, lead them to cool content" , and I'm just thinking "why would I?"
Not that I just like being a kitten, I've had lovely chats with new players, moreso I've been thinking about my experience commanding squads, be it for metas (mostly DE in the first 2 months of eod) or forming and teaching strikes on EOD's release / whenever there's none in lfg for IBS strikes ; and how it more often people are downright ungrateful or insulting whenever things dont work out (first try). How commanding generally feels unrewarding and almost demotivating.
It still has smaller perks like having people follow you for bounties in pof and being able to places logos on strikes when someone needs a brief, but I still somewhat regret the 300g spent for it.

Now I'm aware my experience is also due to the content I like to run. If I was doing world bosses squads I probably wouldnt have seen this much frustration. But I'm still thinking there should be more incentives for leading. In WvW, you do get extra tics on the weekly chest for it. But in PvE there is none. So how would you feel about some sort of extra rewards / commander track? I know it wont solve everything "just like that" but I feel like its a step that'll be good for both new players that need guidance, and one extra source of motivation for veterans.

     /discuss

Using the Steam release to argue for more rewards is the new black.

First of  the veterans , that didnt want an easy mode , because it will pull resources from the raid creation .

And now they hate an auto-lfg , but tell the casuals to start their own group and avoid groups they dont belong (HELLO THIS MECHANICS WILL HELP THEM !)

But its ok i guess , we must raid sell items for 8.000 ectos:P

And if people wont do them , then we ask the company to buff further the rewards , to alure them 😛

None of what you have said here addresses the basic salient question that @Linken.6345 asked.

Time gating is not the most correct term for the raptor mastery itself, but it does technically take time to do, so the term could be argued as correct. I feel you're just being pedantic.

If you go to the automotive mechanic and describe a problem with your gas mileage as a problem with the radio/stereo are you still correct?
Time Gating is a very precise term you are misusing. The misuse shows a lack of information.

Pointing this out is not pedantic.

It's not uninformed? I know how masteries work, know their reasoning for doing the mounts in this fashion. I just disagree with it. You're assuming a bit there.

Needing to level the raptor to Mastery 3, just to get a completely different mount or I can't continue story though? That's too much, not too much as in impossible to do, but it's one of numerous timegates in the game. Though a smaller one in comparison to others I mentioned. I don't like to rush to endgame, I do my best to 100% a map if I can before moving on to the next, but even for me this is ridiculous.

Mastery advancement is not a Time Gate.
Time Gates are barriers that are imposed by the game to impede your progress by not allowing advancement until an arbitrary amount of time have passed.
Daily Ascended crafting is a Time Gate.
There is a Time Gate in the Skyscale quest.
Levelling up a raptor however is not impeded by a time gate.

Nobody else remember the "please add in game build templated...I would even pay for them" type posts from the build template threads back in the day?

While the premise of this thread is a complete junk argument powered by fanfic rhetoric:
Those of us who WERE excited by the idea of build templates and would have happily paid for them were absolutely NOT asking for (or willing to pay for) a system that purposefully split the QoL feature into three separate parts solely for the purpose of monetization.
I would absolutely have paid decent money for a reasonably priced system.
I'm certainly willing to pay money for a decent pizza.
But what Anet did was effectively offer me a pizza that only had toppings on two slices by default and asked me to pay to get cheese and sauce on the rest, one slice at a time.

The entire system was created to effectively milk the most dedicated players of this game and was polished to offer less value for the money than new character slots.
It  stands out as Arenanet's biggest cash grab that over-reached so far that it turned off just about everyone.

Yes, many people expressed they were willing to pay for Build Templates.
No, not a single person asked to be bent over and done dirty, the way Anet implemented it.

I'm a casual player who likes to play open world to farm, relax, and let the grind take over to decompress after work.  The most "pressure" I would put myself in is Living World episodes, personal story, farming in HoT, etc...so not that much, I'm sure, in most of your eyes.

I've been playing GW2 on and off over the years and recently found a "Low Intensity" builds section in Metabattle.  It seems perfect for me.

I heard Celestial gear is great for such builds, but noticed that not all of the LI builds listed use Celestial gear.  I'd really like to craft one set of Ascended gear per armor class so that it's simple to swap based on my mood.  I'm not sure if Legendary is the way to go at this point.  The last time I played was probably around when Legendary armor started releasing and I was burned out from crafting Astralaria.  I never considered Legendary armor before.

My question is:  Can I just craft Celestial Ascended everything?  Or do some LI builds really do require Marauders, Trailblazers?  In that case, should I just craft 6 sets?  Marauders and Trailblazers for each armor class?

The short answer is "no" you cannot just grab an "LI" build and slap cele gear on it and perform well. Slapping Celestial gear on most builds meant for a power set like marauder's will generally lead to sub par performance.
Example: A Marauder's setup easily pushes you to the crit cap on a lot of builds. This is essential for many power builds to do a decent amount of damage. Simply replacing this stat set with Cele will lower your crit rate as well as crit damage and overall strike damage.
Rough rule of Thumb: If you see a build on a site like Metabattle or a video ect that points you towards a specific gear set and no alternatives are presented it's because the creator did indeed try other gear options and settled on the recommended set.

When you hear "cele is great for open world builds" what you should instead be reading is "many open world builds".
Celestial is great on things like Tempest, Holosmith, Renegade or Firebrand, that do a meaningful spread of both Condition damage and Strike damage while generating meaningful boons.
Celestial is not so great on things like Daredevil, Vindicator, Soulbeast or Spellbreaker. Selfish Power damage foccessed builds will see a reduction in performance that will render them simply not viable.

A good Trailblazers condi Ranger setup will shine. Toss it in celestial and it will completely neuter the build.

It's also important to realize many Low Intensity builds are golem builds made for easy group content. They look great in Arc on a golem and are fantastic for running strikes/raids/fractals but aren't actually what I would personally a good "Open World" build. Many LI builds lack the sustain needed to mitigate the damage of harder targets in Open World like Desert Bounty champions.

My big reccomend is to gear up in Stat-selectable exotics and easily acquired ascended trinkets, tweak until you are comfortable then look at crafting your ascended.
From your described gameplay loop, I'm not sure if Legendary armour is a good solution for you.

This rune is currently implemented into the >Power Mech meta build<. It summons a golem which does something i call an antipull. It knocks back enemies. CC is good but you can't control it. For example:

fractals - i want to pull trash mobs to cleave them effectively. this golem knocks back all the enemies so we have to kill them worst case one after another. annoying

harvest temple - purification phase - i already saw the golem pushing Veteran Void Melters into the heart which can cause a wipe.

my suggestion for the devs is to remove the knockback of Whirling Assault or rework the rune so it would't be valuable for this build.

Just to be clear... this a thread calling for the meta runes to be.... buffed?

These are childish forms of peer pressure. I have zero interest in contributing to that culture thus why would I want to throw the information out there.

Do you not feel that if you had a build that outperformed a meta build so well that it would be nice of you to share it so that everyone could benefit from your work?

Of course no. But QOL updates are important for games health, specially if you want to attrack (and retain) new players in short and long term

I go to a restaurant and I order a meal (expac) and get a side of fries (LW) with it.
Suddenly the restaurant doesn't give me the fries.
When I ask "Hey I thought this burger came with fries... it did last week"
The answer is "We are saving the cost of potatoes in order to put out new forks we think will attract new customers."
Never mind the fact I have been enjoying those fries and they were half the reason I bought the burger.

And you are telling me "Hey be happy with the new cutlery,  you get to use it too!.... hopefully next year you will get your fries again"

I really fail to understand why this forum is so quick to defend Anet 100% underdelivering compared to it's past efforts.

A year ago the twisted marionette was rereleased with dramatically changed artwork probably for polical reasons only. Then mai trins voice line were changed only because i assume they wanted the VA to be the same race as the character (similar to Cleveland on family guy or Apu on the simpson). Now all watchwork models have been changed in the game including the tonic that players can use. How long until legacy armors start getting censored as well.

My plea is for anet to stop changing legacy art assets or legacy voice lines. For the rest of season one, please keep the art style as faithful to what was released 8 years ago. I understand mechanics will have to be changed because ls1 want designed to drive traffic to the cashshop, I am ok with those changes. But changing old art assets is being disrespectful to the artists and voice actors from the past.

If current devs want to push the game to a different art style, they can do that with ls6 or add those assets to cathan. NKC feels like a dead zone, and could due with some more assets to make it feel more alive. But censoring old art make me feel like you are jealous of the old designs and you can not compete with them unless they have been removed.

TLDR:"Mad you took my booba away"

I understand that GW2 is designed to seek out guilds/players to play with and the story can be done without ever entering a dungeon yet I (hopefully others as well) want this system introduced into GW2.

You have highlighted good reasons "why not" and tossed them aside for "because I want it"
    Solid case... I am sold.

  17. I am reminded about how for years we were told in City of Heroes that recoloring power effects was impossible for the exact same reason  the armchair devs are pointing to in this thread.

..and then one single developer made it happen ...in his spare time.

Am I the only one who remembers the messaging "We are going right from the end of Season 3, into an expac, then directly into season 4 without missing a release window"?
In fact that only died after s4, until then we were consistently being hyped on what was to come.
