  1. a bit off topic. I do believe that in game reporting does not work in this case. They have to know certain information that can not be included in the in game reporting tool. Further it is important to provide enough details in the mail. Screenshots and timestamps are important to track down the person. A link to a website in english explaining the meaning in german helps as well. Keep in mind that e.g. google translate just translates. There is not much wrong afaik in english with the term pigdog (for example).
  2. I also suspect that the name is not allowed. If thats the case, even changing characters to bypass this is not allowed either. Even if you find a loophole, they will likely force you to change it. A few examples are obscene names (also ones in other languages), name of game characters, names of arenanet employees and a few more. You can always ask support why it is blocked, but the answer will most likely be cause they have their reasons and you wont change their mind
  3. I can fully understand it can be overwhelming. My main advice is to take you time to find out. I've played from start. With the release of the first elite specialisations I switched classes. With the release of the second elite specialisations I switched again and with the latest expansion I have issues choosing between two. There is nothing wrong with this. There is nothing wrong with switching. Getting decent gear isn't hard. True, ascended and legendary is different, but then again, it is the journey and not the goal that really matters.
  4. I think the major issue is that yet again, payer demands made things worse. More and more I feel that Arenanet should do less what we ask them to do, but more what they think we want. They started with a schedule where every month a new release would be added to the living world season (during season one). This was highly ambitious, but doable with the size of the studio back then. The main issue why they could do this was cause ti was non repeatable content. You had two months to play it and then it was gone. So any minor bugs and polishing still existing was not a problem. But we didn't want content that was not repeatable. It was a bad idea. We do not want to pay for content The studio has been slimmed down for numerous reasons Yet still we blame Arenanet for the lack of content. We blame arenanet for each and every bug We do not pay monthly fees we had 50% of all content for free The core game has been free for ages There is no advertisement We want everything for nothing. It is not how this world functions. I think many players being negative should rethink what they are saying and demanding!
  5. I think it is harder to reproduce. Catching the keg's is not easy in the first place. As the bug is not persistent, the dev's researching it will 1: do not experience the bug 2: assume it is not a bug but a learn to play> Reactions here do demonstrate this. I can confirm that this sometimes doesn't work at all and this has happened as long as I remember (more then 10 years)
  6. I believe there is some miscommunication here. Weynandts revenge has always been in game in old and new lion's arch and it is mostly unchanged (except the start and a few no fly zones), that is/was the daily when this topic was created. It would be nice (if it isn't allready) if you can do it in old lions arch as well as in new lion's arch). There was also a jumping puzzle Troll's end in old lion's arch. It was later replaced by the more difficult Troll's revenge in new lion's arch. Troll's end was long not accesable, but with the new memory token it can be done once more. I personally dislike this as a regular daily, although I would love to see them do some old lion's arch dailies as an extra (like the dailies on certain living world maps). The jumping puzzles would be a cool addition to these kind of bonus dailies
  7. Use this advice very carefull as it can also backfire. Often this bad attitude in pug's come from one rather dominant and expressive player (if it is a true pug, if there are members from the same guild, it is different). I had one occasion that this happened and I just started a silent kick for the aggressive player and got the backing within a few seconds. Then the reliefs in the chat started that people where thankfull he was gone. The person started pm-ing party members so I took it on me to explain to him why I took those steps. At first it was pretty vile, but after exchanging arguments it calmed down. The person is still playing the game and I've seen him in pugs with a different attitude since then. I'm not saying that it is ok to kick people and when doing so, it can easily backfire and resulting in you being kicked, but it does help to speak out and act against it.
  8. As said, it's like apples and oranges. The best game experience I've ever had was with Skyrim, when it just launched. I've played it for several 100 hours. But after that it got boring and just more of the same. GW2 offers social interaction and a constant flow of new content to counter that. So it has elements that are better and lesser.
  9. Zhaitan didn't mean to destroy Kaineng and the coast of Cantha. He only woke up and rose Orr to the surface, not bothering about the consequences it had. Furthermore, the Canthans wanted to be in isolation and has been even before Orr rose from the bottom of the sea. The ministries and empress had ways of getting info and knew this allready. Isolating doesn't mean you have to be blinded.
  10. I consider myself a friendly and helpfull player, but I am not online to help people I hardly know. I am there to play a game. When I was deliberatly going into starter zones to be helpfull, it was with alteritate motives as I was tasked with recruiting for a guild. Nothing wrong with that. I think guilds focussing on new players are a perfect place for new players to learn the game and learn how to play. That also brings me to a second thing I find worth it to mention. I think you are wrong that they are fighting you. Part of being helpfull and helping is also giving advice beyond what is literally asked. I have played this game since launch and there hasn't been a single month that I didn't login onto one of my accounts. I have seen so many people who consider themself seasoned MMO-players (and by all means they are seasoned indeed). They tend to rush to through the levelling experience to the end game as it is what they are used to do. GW2 is different here and often these players skipped so many things in the levelling experience they fail to see what there is to do when they hit 80. In more traditional MMO's there is a big difference between the levelling experience and the end game and so the levelling experience is rushed. In GW2 there is no such difference. When you level up you unlock more options and more things to do, but it is done more on the way and as a part of the levelling experience. It is up to you to follow up on an advice, but when you feel like you are fighting a player with more experience, it is also wise to ask yourself if they might have good reasons to advice you to take a different direction. Then again, not all advice is good advice. So in the end it is up to you..
  11. This game runs on almost any laptop that has a seperate GPU (so not integrated in the CPU). But the cheaper it is, the lesser it will run. iGPU? RDNA2 AMD runs an intergrated GPU and will be inferior. It wll likely run, but not on high settings. an integrated GPU actually uses the CPU and so any performance of the GPU will come from the GPU and vice versa. Thats why it is better to have a dedicated GPU. There is no such thing as a much have minimum. This game will run on almost anything (although recent changes, changed this a bit). But the quality can be very low and below your personal minimums
  12. Each race has it's ups and downs. I would advice to have more then one toon around. It really doesn't take too much time to level multiple characters. I currently main a norn/silvari (actually was shifting from norn to silvari, but not sure where I'll end up). This is for the more straight forward content. But I have an asura for jumping puzzles and stuff simular to that.
  13. Why on earth should there be an option to report something that is totally allowed and makes sense. There is no rule that one should be active and there never should be such rule.
  14. AFK farming is allowed IF you are present at the keyboard. Also see: Policy: Unattended Gameplay – Guild Wars 2 Support Keep in mind this can checked by a GM by sending you a text message. They appear in a different color in the chat compared to chat from other players. So you are perfectly allowed to do this farm Keep in mind, if it is too good to be true, it often is. So if this is too lucrative, the farm will get destroyed in a nearby update.
  15. I'd prefer to know where the litter boxes are for the char...
  16. I believe people put too much leverage into a prophecy. I've checked the oxford dictonary to see what it says: The true strenght of a prophecy is always determined after the predicted event has happened (or not). But it goes beyond that. The strenght also lies the believe wether or not the prophecy is true. There is a famous psychological term called a self for filling prophecy. This is an effect where something happens cause it is expected. It is actually very simple. If you go into an exam at school and think you are going to fail, it is much more likely to actually fail then where you go expecting to be succesfull. This becomes stronger when the expectations are shared with others. The last effect is that the more vague a prophecy is, the more likely it is percieved as reality So the strenght of a prohecy lies in three things: 1: How many people expect it to become reality. 2: How vague the prophecy is. 3: wether or not it became reality. There is a balance between 2 and 3 as it is less needed to become reality the more vague it is. In this case there is a huge difference between the situation before and after the moment it became reality. Now let's look at the actual prophecy. (source: Prophecy - Guild Wars 2 Wiki (GW2W) ) Interestingly, this page says it is confirmed by wolf, while wolf said: More importantly, this is said after it became reality. Before it became reality it was not really a prophecy, but a lack of hope that Jormag could be defeated cause the fang could not be damaged. So the interpretation changed after Braham cracked the fang. Specially for Norn Legends are not made in their deeds, but in the stories that are being told about those deeds. That also explains the change of the prophecy (if it was one in the first place). This bring us to the bow. Is the bow just a bow with special magical enhancements or is it a legendary weapon of old. This is in the eye of the beholder. It served it's purpose in the story so far and it purpose in the future is unknown. In this it is like shrodinger's plothole. As long as that story hasn't been told we will never know. (tl;dr: wether or not this is a plothole depends on the reader/reciever of the story wether they want it to be a plothole
  17. to be honest, in war, mass intelligence is useless, unless it is a hyve mind intelligence. (And the skritt do not have a hyve mind intelligence, it seems). Even though they gain intelligence from the masses, this intelligence is shared among all soldiers. This makes it impossible to establish a chain of command. Who makes the decisions? Who just needs to fall in line. In human armies, most soldiers do not need to think or be intelligent. They just need to follow orders and not ask questions. Only those in charge needs intelligence AND you want to those far away from the actual battle. A hyve mind is different as it functions more as a single intelligence shared by all drones.
  18. I depends on the terms used. Using any third party software to gain an unfair advantage is not allowed. However, are they using any third party software? From what you are describing the answer is no. They are most likely afk-farming. It uses a few features of the game. some available to all accounts, some needs to be unlocked. But essentially it is: Automatic killing and attacking foes with minions, turrets and pets and using the auto loot options to automatically have the loot placed in your inventory. This is allowed, on one condition. although it is called afk farming, it is not allowed to actually be afk. the better term would be farming without touching keys, but I didn't pick the terms. Anyways, you need to be present at your keyboard, but it is perfectly ok, to be, for example, knitting (yes that is a real life example, of someone I know off who does this). This is also monitored in a very easy way and you can help. 1: when you see someone, sent him/her a PM asking them "Hey, are you there?" 2: They are not required to answer you, but if they don't you can report them for botting. 3: now a GM will investigate and will sent them a PM (they have a special color in chat). 4: if they ansnwer, they are ok. if not, they get moved away at first. If this happens more often, other actions like bans can be taken. Some people find this morally ok, others dislike it. It often sparks a lot of debate, but in the end this is the current policy.
  19. could you please elaborate a bit more on what happens? 1: what is the exact clickpath (e.g. I open the game. In the loginscreen I fill in the details and press play. A new window tries to open, but nothing happens. 2: What is the frozen state? is a window open on the screen? is this responsive. Is the game running on the background? is the application in taskmanager active? 3: How do you recover from this frozen state? 4: Has it ever worked before? 5: What changed, when did this start happening?
  20. 1: making posts here will not help in any way. 2: be polite, be civilised and understanding. expect the same from the other side 3: if you dislike the answer, ask for a supervisor to check it. But also understand, no is no. Going on the info in the thread, it is very unlikely that a CS member has used the key you shared, but it is something that can be reviewed by a supervisor. It is more likely someone else obtained the key. This can happen when your email got hacked. An account owner dispute means nobody has access to an account, so also not the other side. Support has no longer any way of knowing who the true owner of the account is. Even if you where the person who bought it, when purchase info is leaked, it could be gifted and it no longer can be resolved. So in the end, no is no. Aks for a supervisor to re-check everything, specially when you have the suspicion that CS is envolved in this, but that is the final no.
  21. I assume you are using the ingame keymapping when pressing F11?? I would recommend to use the logitech gaming software which is compatible with your mouse to map the buttons to keyboard keys. After that make sure you lock the profile while GW2 is active. See for more reference this article Lock a gaming-mouse profile using Logitech Gaming Software – Logitech Support + Download
  22. Thet do know about the existence of the item. they just do not have any record of the loss. Is it possible you made a mistake yourself? like Chaba said, perhaps you where repping the wrong guild at the time?
  23. I'd like to see them explore new parts of the world. I really loved seeing them redo old regions from GW1, but it is unbalanced. Now they did most of the old gw1 world I would suggest going on to new parts of the world. Although I am willing to make exceptions. Dominion of winds would be one of them
  24. Ye, it is really mature to call those who disagree with you hopeless - facepalm- As for a serious reaction. It is not so simple. Arenanet doesnt have unlimited resources. Even if these servers would be generating enough revenue to pay for those resource (and as you you can see here, it does not), there aren't enough devs anyways. So in any cause, doing this means they can't work on other projects. It is not like a button they can flip to make this happen. I rather have them work on other things that is more demand for
  25. The reason this is complicated is cause goldselling is a big thread to the game. It causes botting and cheating done by accounts created with frauded payments or hacked accounts. That is really serious. Thats why when a payment is cancelled and the order can't be reverted, they take the precaution to suspend your account. This is never permanent (unless further investigation reveals real fraud or hacks where the original owner isn't in sight). This is done untill the payment provider has explained in detail why the payment was reverted. As soon as Paypall delivers this information (and keep in mind the same proces is going on between paypall and GCash first. This can take time and will take time. Seeing how long it took to bounce the payment, means the GCash company isn't very quick in taking action. These processes are very much set in stone procedures. It is nearly impossible to bypass it. What you should not do: 1: Constantly contact all three parties involved. It clutters things up and will not speed it up at all. 2: think there is any way to speed things up What you should do. 1: be patient. This will take time 2: Arenanet is the one who needs the info from paypall. Keep informing regularly, but not too often, about the status. Once every two weeks should be sufficient. Keep the case warm, but not too hot to handle. Considering your side of the story and assuming it is the correct version, I have no doubt that this will get resolved in the end.
