  1. I think most confusion is cause originally it is given for free to existing players as a thank you for the loyalty. I have played from launch and have an investment that is considerably higher then someone who starts now with the gameThe original game: 60 euro/USDHeart of Thorns: 50 euro/USDPath of Fire: 30 euro/USDTotal: 140 euro/USD Currently, when buying all this you pay:The original game: free to playHeart of Thorns: 20 euro/USD (when bundled with Path of Fire) Path of Fire: 30 euro/USD Living world season 2: 19 euro/USDLiving world season 3: 12,50 euro/USDLiving world season 4: 600 gems = 7,50 euro/USD **+***Total: 89 euro/USD or 50 euro and a some farming in game. Often these go for a 50% sale, so if you wait a bit, it is extra cheapcan be bought with gold in game, it can be farmed bit by bit there are 5 episodes so far. The last one is for free for new and existing players. The second is currently also for free. This price is aimed for that you missed last week give-away for episode one and IF they do not continue in the next two weeks to give away episode 3 and 4 for free as well My point is that you get things allready a lot more cheaper. However! and this is a big however. I think your point should not be that you should get it for free, but that you should be told about it more clearly. This is a puzzle with many MMO's. I once looked into buying WoW and it is also very unclear what you need to buy. I think marketing could and should solve this by selling bundled packages instead of stackable packages.
  2. Just a small correction: As ArenaNet was as surprised as anyone, it wasn't ArenaNet that decided to lay off personnel. That was a parent-company decision. And yes, indeed, no need to worry that the studio, nor the game, is 'dying'. It depends a bit how you define Arenanet as an entity. Most people working there where surprised, but I have no doubt thatsomeone like Mike O knew about the worries that NCSoft had about this subsidiary and knew about this option
  3. Some allies are not supposed to fight (example, during protect NPC X and Y objectives). Others are somewhat bugged. Bottom line is that you are the hero, not the NPC.
  4. Tyria is just like the real world. You can ignore (block) people, but if you want them to be taken of the street, you can not be victim, judge and executioner. If someone did you wrong, report them (using the in-game option or by contacting support).
  5. GW1 and GW2 have a very good track record to be able to play somewhat decently on a low end system. This is actually a huge selling point, imo not exploited well enough by Arenanet. For many games you need a console or computer system that is bought for the purpose of gaming. For Anet games, you can use any neck of the wood pc that is somewhat recent. To take it a step further, Arenanet uses some very cool design tricks to incorperate the lower quality of the graphics. The world is drawn sloppy, creating an artisitic look that looks stunning. This compensates the lower quality alot. I know there are people wanting to play on the best settings available and have the most optimal playing performance. Many technologies support this goal, but it would be counterproductive to older systems and also lock out potential players new to the world of gaming. Last of all, the amount of resources envolved are large, as arenanet should be modifying the engine. This is not a stock engine, but developped by arenanet themself for GW1 and GW2.
  6. 1: Do not use boosts. This game has not a clear difference between low end content and endgame. You only skip the learning curve and most people feel lost.2: Hearts are not the core of the game and never have been. If you felt like it, you allready had the wrong idea. The game doesnt have a clear hand guiding you around (and often the hearts are mistaken for this). Play through from start with an open mind and forget everything you think you know about mmo's. Explore the world and see what it has to offer for you.3: keep the boost till you have a clear idea of the game and has a class you really understand, but do not want to level yourself.
  7. I see up and downsides to adding more solo game content. An MMORPG is about cooperation and playing together with others. It is what defines the genre by definition. This doesn't make it a good thing.I was there at GW1 when they prepped it for the release of GW1 and the decrease of the playerbase. They added support of 7 heroes, making a lot more content solo-able in a friendly way.In many games I have seen the concept that when something can be done solo, most people will prefer to do so.This says a lot about the existensial crisis in the Massive Multiplayer online part of the genre, but the same goes for the roll playing part of the name. Having said that....The genre is more then what the name implies. Both the MMO and the RP part of the games are nothing more then niches in what defines it. More important is the gameplay, the way of story telling, the fantasy genre and extensive lore involved. I think this can not be really solved in the concept of GW2 as scaling and balancing is too complicated yet.I would like to see a system of machine learning being released on a scaling and balancing. This so any encounter (instanced, open world, event or random trashmob) is scaled based on AI meassering the players participating and adjusting this when it changes, but to make this work, you would need a re-design of the entire environment. Till then it will be a matter of choice and that is always hurtfull to a part of the community.
  8. Close the second ticket. Creating more then one ticket about the same subject will delay the response time significantly as it clutters up the queue and requires more effort to see the whole picture.
  9. There is a mix on this. I have had players complain about interfering. If I have time, I look at the players/target health, jump in if needed. Or I'll just watch until the player goes down then revive without attacking the target, lol. Maybe share some boons. I’ll be honest. This game is designed cooperative gameplay. You are encouraged to play together and help eachother by the way it is designed. Arenanet is proud about how social the community is, and this design is why we are so social, we are encourage cause of how the game works. It is an open world and you ar encouraged to help eachother. So I do believe that it should always be preferred to help others (if you feel like it), and if people complain, about it they are disrespectful to your positive attitude. If they want to do it solo for the sake of, they should ask you (not complain) to let them do it alone. Obviously when they do, let them do so. Respect should be answered by respect. So never hold back to help unless asked to do so!
  10. You want an honest discussion, but your post is full of entitlement. What is honest about that. Most outfits are gemstore items. If you do not like them, do not buy them. If nobody buys the, I am certain arenanet would stop making them. But people like them and are buying them. So I do not see any problem. The only issue might be your envy, you want these skins to be armorskins, but many can’t exist and will not mix and match at all. Developmenttime is sky high and the extra sales extreme low,
  11. It is a tradepost. You sell or buy. There is a service offered by players where they buy what you sell. But this service is limited to what they want to buy from people. This service comes with a price. You gain less gold. If you loose the auction cause you where too slow, you have an additional service that you auction it for the same price. The alternative is that the whole auction is off,
  12. Question answered. Just to add to this for the archive. you can also bring a stealthkit: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Ash_Legion_Spy_Kit
  13. The answer is complicated. The first question is why in the genre this term matters. The reason the term exist is cause you need to level up and outgrow the things you do when you level up. You can go to a starter map, but it doesn’t drop you anything and you gain no experience to level more. Gw2 is different. You never outgrow content, but only gain more things to do.Another mechanic often envolved with endgame are things to do between releases. A developer studio can never develop as quick as a player can play it. So players want things to do in between. Again, in traditional games, new content means that the end game also shifts due to level and gear progressions. Gw2 doesn’t know these things. So a term like end game is very much not suiting for gw2 to start with. You can play every aspect of the game once you hit max level and you never outgrow content. Gw2 gets new content added to the allready big package of content. Once you have seen all, or decided that some content is not for you, you are left with the so called fashion wars. As gw2 doesn’t have gear progression, gear grind is not a great way to fill up your time. So the alternative is armor and weapon skins, gw2 doesn’t fit the genre, but tries to set new standards.
  14. When I started the game, I hated puzzles. Some of them I still dislike. But the reason is different then what you describe. Without technical knowledge you can do them. But it is like learning to walk again. Once you do, it is easy. The only puzzles I got issue with are the timed ones (e.g. Skipping Stones) or those that are not forgiving enough (not so secret). So either ignore them or learn to do them.
  15. Some answers are hidden in plane sight. It must be the S for 'Someone'
  16. Just a story. In gw1, there was something very cool and prestigious. Getting to level 20 (max) in pre searing. This was extremely hard. The giant slayer achievement was nothing compared to it. You could only gain xp from quests and kills, but only if the foe was not more then 4 levels below yours. Pre seering was a place you could only leave permanently. The max level of foes was 10. So with some quests the max level seems to be level 15. The trick was to let the max level foes kill you over and over and over again (people pulled them to a ressurection Shrine so they could be killed and be auto rezzed over and over again). This way the foes leveled up cause of the experience they gained from killing you. Then you could kill them once for a tiny drop of xp. This was so awesome that arenanet recognized the awesomeness and made an achievement out of it. Fast forward a few years. People kept wining that it was too hard and they added some higher level foes, totally destroying the initial effort that was rewarded by the achievement. To me it is still a black day. I made it to level 18 and wanted to gain it the level style, but what’s the use? Some achievements should be hard. They are an achievement and getting them all should be Impossible by design. Otherwise it wouldn’t be an achievement. So please stop the entitlement. It only ruins the game.
  17. "Enough", there's like 4 giants total in core game, and all of them are champions in events. That achievement is unbalanced, basically, it asks the same amout of kills for a really rare mob as it does for extremely common ones. The giant in Brisban Wildlands is not a campion. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Giant_(NPC)If you are not alone, there will be more then two giants will spanw, and if the group expand it can go up to 6 giants. This event can be repeated once every 15 minutes (after the giant spawn you need a fail, otherwise it takes 10 extra minutes)
  18. There are several giants in the core game, enough to get the achievement (although it takes time). The most easy one is the event in brisban wildlands. Besides that, some notable giants are the one at nageling and Kudu's monster (although it looks a lot like a risen giant, it is technically not a risen as it is not under Zhaitans control. So that one does count as a giant). In PoF we got a good amount more of them.
  19. As for uploading from the PC, I imagine it is gone as it requires much more storage. You can make the photo show up, if you link from a known photo hosting site (e.g. imgur)
  20. To explain my vote. The official stance by Arenanet is that they investigated and that it is more or less the samen amount of work then releasing a fresh new living world season. They think we rather want new then recycled content. I fully agree with them. Non devs keep underestimating how much time and effort something cost to develop and that asking one thing means they cant do the other, So the lws1 re release will take the time of a full living world season, a period of time the rest of the game is abanded.
  21. What version of windows are you running, and if you run windows 10, which build? The reason I am asking is that in windows 10, your my documents is defeault shared with one drive. If your one drive is full, you can get this error. In the latest build, they added a check mark to disable the sync.
  22. First off all, I loved factions. Specially the parts outside of the city. The island, the echovald forest and the jade sea are stunning area'sBut then there is this giant city. It was allready hug in gw1 and it will likely have grown. I never really liked it a lot, but thats not my concern, My main concern is that we basically need the city and cant ignore it and get around it, but part of it was that it was a maze. Now we can pop on our griffon/bunny, and use griffon/raptor to navigate the rooftops. So how to create a feel of a big city? Another part has to do with expectations. Now we got nightfall area's the request for Cantha is full on the table again (as shown in this threat). A nice part of the desert/elona parts was that we didnt really expect it. So allthough I would lvoe to go to Cantha, I think it might be better to wait for expansion 4 or 5. It gives devs more time to think about the challenge of designing the city again and it gives us time to not expect it
  23. I think one of the reasons mmo rpg are in decline is cause of gw2 being awesome. There was a time where mmo makers could charge monthly fees, get customers to pay for expansions AND charge them for micro transactions. With gw2 being a competitive game in this market, the monthly fees are mostly gone, initial prizes are lowered or gone and expansion prizes have gone down. This means the industry isn’t able to invest as much (as profit margins are a lot lower), so the quality of the competitors went down. This makes, to me, gw2 the leading game in the market. So in short. They caused the decline in the overall market cause they are that good. So yes, an expansion will happen.
  24. Where they all in the same map? Thanks for the bug report. This might be an issue with the specific map. Tomorrow is an update, so all instances will be reset. Please try again then. If it works then, please let us know here. The devs do not respond, but are reading and such info helps a lot in identifying the cause of the bug.
  25. Just a minor thing (allready discussed, but from a different perspectives). When looking at regional binding. Gw2 tends to look at language settings, so e.g. Players with the interface language set to German tend to be put together. I do know quite a bit of people playing the game on a non English interface setting but being active in English speaking communities, so I would suggest to have an additional option for guilds to mark their community language. It will help to sort those type of players with the community they play with as the interface language setting is a bad indicator to what people prefer in their community.
