  1. Once we knew that daily overhaul will come I was expecting that only rewards system will change and require us to visit some new place (The Wizard's Tower) to talk to NPCs to set personal goals (a reward track of some sort) or physically open chests after having enough of new currency. I also expected that we get more region specific tasks that would contribute to daily or even have old vanilla objectives from 2012 and that instanced content will be a part of this new system. What we got instead is a kitten system which clearly limits players ability to select their daily objectives (both on daily pool of tasks and ability to pick task from different game mode which is impossible to change till next reset) and by extension how they spend time playing the game. Not mention that visually panel doesn't fit at all with rest of the game's interface. I suspect that Chinese client code was taken and reimplemented to not feature region specific P2W features - at best, at worst - some new employee baked this during lunch break. Moreover, if you select all Vault objectives the regular achievement objectives won't display as Vault list takes the priority in the sidebar - you need to remove every single stuff in order to see e.g. fractal, strike dailies. Players want to have a free hand of how they play the game - we don't want to be forced to do what You think is best of us (a sin that is prevalent across all American tech companies nowadays, either big or smaller). Yesterday's situation when a minidungeon that is obviously designed for smaller number of players was put on the objectives list tells You really need to finally launch public test servers and stop pretending that testing stuff internally among Yourself is enough. It's clearly not. Not after kittening 11 years. Get your kitten together. Without further ado: changes announced by Ruby in the message from few hours are NOT satisfactory - expanded list of tasks IS needed. What I personally want to see and perhaps some people will agree with me are: Bringing back the ability of selecting tasks of any game mode without need to wait for server reset - that should also cover weekly objectives. Objectives list should include more tasks and players should be freely able to select what they want. It our time we invest and spend on this game after all so please, don't limit our activity and pretend this is fine. Do not include tasks that involve minidungeons or other tasks that clearly weren't designed to hold continuous stream of players. Pool of tasks should be recheck to ensure that no situation with Valdhertz Crypts would repeat. The minidungeon should be fixed as well. A bugs tracking system should be here already - bugzilla is available for free. This piece of software is only few years older than Arena.
  2. I was playing completely fine till that last patch which I downloaded today - I've stopped playing once the yellow notification popped in the chat. And now as above - I can't even get the launcher to run correctly. I've launched a spare backup Linux Mint installation on external disk with current drivers and launcher behaves exactly the same way (on daily basis I need to play on 456.27 drivers under Linux otherwise game crashes on translucent surfaces - some shaders issues with my GTX 670; it's a distro independent issue). I'd guess that something else happen in the patch that did more than just corrected story progress problems. --- Edit: there are the settings: https://ibb.co/X70xYyL https://ibb.co/vhvqvhg The only other thing I did was launching Albion Online but I doubt this would affect GW2 in any way, especially when Albion is installed as flatpak Edit 2: I disabled every option in Runner settings (DXVK, VK3D3, Extras, NVAPI), and game launched but of course it runs in really choppy way. I haven't touched these settings ever. Edit 3: Changed the DXVK (2.1 to 1.10) and VK3D3 (2.8 to 2.6) out of pure curiosity and works fine now. I have no idea what happen here :|
  3. Someone else has issues with launching the game after last patch from 10hrs ago? I can't even pass the launcher - I'm getting the Initializing window and then parts of launcher fields with account name and password flickering. Pressing enter gives Unable to initialize 3D output error. Lutris log shows this:
  4. You know what's the main and persistent for 10 years offence towards your playerbase and customers, and the source of the all problems no matter who's in charge at Arena? Over all these years you continuously see yourselves as some super mega corporation of FAANG size, where it's totally fine to replace a real human-to-human communication with "the communication" which consists only of empty marketing gibberish *language*. Where it's ok to mask issues and problems with happy-happy plastic pastel colors doll theater full of funny comments every now and then and pampering certain part of the customers base for virtue points. And where is totally fine to ignore the concerns customer has. Well a newsflash for you since you seem to ignore this fact for way too much time: you're just a kitten small studio from Bellevue in Washington, a subsidiary company for S. Korean NCSoft, not Apple, Microsoft or Amazon. You really can't afford any longer mistreating your customers like this and feeding them constantly on this vile corporate language pulp praying this will work once again and again, that we'll forget and gladly continue to digest all the scraps you toss at us, and happily dive into microtransactions and BLC gambling. Your response and behavior to this current situation as many people here already told you: is downright unprofessional. And soaks with corporate insincerity of which most of us is really tired and bored. So, change the language and the ways you communicate with us, change this attitude truly. Say "sorry" - hell, the person mentioned many times everywhere should step in and apologize because cat is out of the bag and it should feel responsible instead of preying on... salt. Hold the patch release since the issues were pointed out - postpone this instead. And for all gods sake, perhaps work with playerbase more openly involving on your side people who are experienced with the game and who are eager to improve GW2 instead of creating more issues. There are tools - even open source ones that will help you work with us, players. Some good suggestions were made in this thread. Also at the same time, I really hope that this is "a minor issue" we're facing all over again. But if the real goal here is, as one of the users in this thread suspects, a total homogenization of all mechanics, professions in a kin to majority of MMOs, so game would become more digestible for wider audience once you decide to release on Steam. Then well, we're really done here and this game has really short future ahead.
  5. I was just kicked out from party because of this infinite loading, so you might guess what and how I feel. Over last 9 years I encounter no such issues with the game than after EoD release - neither on Windows, nor on Linux via Lutris launcher. I really hope this will be resolved soon. And while we're at these issues: it would be great if the EoD strikes would load slices of existing maps and not the whole copies of these with all assets that aren't necessary for the encounters. The difference between loading times of IBS and EoD strikes is significant.
  6. Sorry for late reply to anyone who bothered to reply. At that time I was testing GW2 under Lutris on GNOME and later by accident I've run it under Xfce and problem was gone (I had graphic desktop effects disabled in Lutris and GNOME Game Mode extension on). My guess is that the problem was related to GNOME utilizing GPU in it's Mutter compositor. Xfce and GW2 under Lutris play nicely. But there's another thing: since the Dragon Bash release I'm having same camera issues I had on Windows before I've opted for doitsujin's dxvk. Camera often freezes while moving around and I had few client crashes. So, the question: has someone else observed this? I'm on lutris-5.7-11-x86_64 with DXVK 1.7.3L-03f11ba
  7. I'm running Lutris almost successfully for more than a month now and I wonder if someone noticed weird mouse and camera behavior while playing among large number of people like squads (joined or not) or world bosses: sometimes camera refuses to stay in place and starts to spin character around either clockwise or counter clockwise, some rubberbanding while moving happens and often skills fails to be executed by keyboard - there's a significant delay but none if I'm operating with mouse (while trying to have camera in place). None of this happen when I'm in less dense populated areas but might happen while doing fractals. I have copied Windows client graphics and audio settings and none of this happens there; issues are present on SSD as well as on HDD. I'm not sure if this is Manjaro GNOME specific behavior related to display server and my GTX 670 or something between Lutris settings: Wine version - lutris-5.7-11-x86_64, DXVK - 1.7.3L-03f11ba. Edit: I forgot about another issue with Bjora Marches map - while swapping between parked characters there, I'm getting OOM errors since last update - I have 8GB of physical RAM and additional 17GB of swap (both as file and partition) since I've experienced OOM freezes during first attempts with launching GW2 with Lutris but even with all of it, Bjora Marches flips running client but any other open world map or instance works properly. So again, has someone experienced similar stuff and knows how to deal with it?
  8. Hi man. I have same issue today. The most funny thing... Actually i installed gw2 on new hardware, everything fine then... boom! cant log in, im sure its not router problem or firewall. I have gw2 on laptop too, with the same OS, same firewall... and its sound "funny" but on my laptop i have no log in problems. Im confused.I welcome any help btw. It's possible it's related to the version of Lutris that is being used. I had that issue since the 15th, and I found a solution for myself today - just switch the Lutris version from V6.0 to V5.7-11. You can do this by Right clicking on Gw2 ---> Configure ---> Runner Options ---> Wine Version.I don't know why it fixed my problem, but it did. I ran 2 fresh installations, both under V6.0. The moment I rolled back to 5.7, I could log in. It works! Really big thank you!i also switched vulkan ICD loader from amd_icd64.json to radeon_icd.x86_64.json bcs i had black screen and... it works now :)Thank you!It worked for me as well - thank you for discovering this!Tho, the question remains, why version 6.0 terminates the connection...
  9. I'm currently testing launching game with Lutris on my machine (which isn't super fast for today's standards - C2Q, 8GB RAM and GF760) under Manjaro Linux x64 and well... it seems it runs much better under Wine than it does native on Windows 10 - graphics are much better but without burden of frame drops or lagging while turning camera view around. There's one problem I cannot figure out - game launches only once after initial Lutris setup (tested out after clearing .config folder out of Lutris files) and any subsequent launch ends up with Error Code: 42:0:9001:4457. I tried launching with arguments for different port - no luck. So I wonder, did someone bumped on such problem and found the solution?
  10. Maybe it's an obvious idea but I'd like to share it anyway. Monday incident calls for preparing some notification system that would warn players whenever some issues occur and which would ask to not launch the game and/or tell that servers will be shut down in order to avoid further problems with database (which could be the reason why people on EU had connection/online presence issues after data was restored from snapshot). There's launcher that may display own messages, posts and direct user to social media profiles (for further news); there are network and other error modal windows and yellow chat messages inside (one that warns about new game build) in the game. There are ways of notifying playerbase so it is possible in theory to prepare a system that would kick in in case of any problems, which wouldn't require human interaction up until someone arrives in the offices. You guys cannot rely solely on players, assuming they'll pass the news and take most appropriate decision - especially when you're in beds and things happen. Also, it would be a good idea to rethink the forms of "compensation" for problems that occurred because as you probably saw, a wrong gift may lead to further divides in the playerbase.
  11. We have no idea what happened beside the fact a thing happened and then automatic backup system kicked in; if there are more recent backups then they may restore from these, if not, we'll have a sad second half of May. They're still sleeping in the States so it'll take few hours before they get to the offices, see what's the issue. We can just wait.
  12. It seems that trading post sell orders remained untouched
  13. They don't; most of the time they remain within the event zone because (I assume) they think that core maps feature ranged event participation where once player moves elsewhere, the contribution is gone so they stick around for duration of an event, continuously dismounting on group of enemies and with daily objective on and multiple high-level, elite specialization equipped and mounted players, enemies vanish within a blink, giving no chance for less experienced people around to attack. Of course there will be also players who just enjoy being "first" to attack and kill enemies - that would fall under griefing and steal-killing; these concepts barely exist in general in GW2, since we do share rewards from killing, participating in events but with mounts these arrived. Sure, in map without daily objective or even in ones with higher level ranges situation is different but the same disruptive behavior remains - mounts are being utilized, and again, new and leveling up players are getting the worst impression of the game. Core maps and leveling up process is being considered as one big tutorial that starts once character leaves the initial PS instance and travels up to the Orr, so it would be logical I guess, to handle how mounts blend up within this leveling up process experience. It's not enough to just place debuff that forbids players from using mounts in certain areas - mounts require being taken into account of dynamic level adjustment closely. And I do consider the issue as a bug because initially there was a change done by devs, it didn't changed much so I do believe it is a bug that exists continuously since the last time scaling of dismount action "skill" was touched. But if this really bothers someone, then I'd gladly ask for moving this topic elsewhere into proper place.
  14. The damage scaling on dismount action "skill" was already tweaked to be weaker, do less damage but it still causes problems in core game low level starting zones maps - especially when there's a daily events objective like today (Queensdale). The situation when maxed out players are striking and killing enemies spawning in event zones of low-level maps in 1 simple mount skill key press happens all time during any event and it definitely doesn't shows both game and its community in a good light. Any attempts of reasoning with people around, reminding that there are low-level players around from my experiences doesn't work - players are blatantly ignoring the issue. Damage value should be tweaked once again so low level players and especially new players would be able to participate in fights and "tag" monsters that spawn within events zones and have... fun instead being frustrated that higher players are clearing enemies around. Perhaps a more "drastic" decisions should be considered as well like removing the dismount action "skill" damage while player enters starting zone maps, or keeping the "skill" working for 80lv maps only, or scale it accordingly to native monsters level of each given map. Anticipating the potential answer: pushing newly arrived players who just purchased the game into getting first raptor mount from PoF expansion so they could join rest of the players "herd" in this dismount havoc isn't the answer here I believe - it only preserves the issue I'm talking about. Not mention that new player that unlocks mount, moves around with it and engages combat misses a lot of fun, knowledge, experience undeniably going by the easy way only to ultimately hit the wrong " game offers no content" judgement.
  15. Andrew, is there any chance for adding percentage progress on loading screens?
  16. Thread field has a character limit and expanding World Boss schedule would enrich this Core game feature - especially after such long time. This is not a demand aimed at developers but a suggestion that may be worth considering. Please, if you don't have anything constructive to add here beside the miserable tone then refrain from making the posts because you're not helping but obviously torpedoing this idea for own wicked fun.
  17. Since World Boss Week will focus on this quite forgotten feature existing in Core part of the GW, I believe that's it is right time to consider expanding World Boss encounters list. I'm thinking mostly about Dredge Commissar in Dredgehaunt Cliffs (could gain proper event chain) and Siegemaster Lormar in Plains of Ashford (that map is the only startingzone without World Boss-type encounter). I believe that Lornar's Pass could use own World Boss as well since this map is quite large, events are scattered across long distances; perhaps something related to Marionette remains could revive a bit this place? There's also Fire Shaman aka Drakin Cinderspire in Iron Marches which at some point if I'm not mistaken was sharing spawning time with Fire Elemental in Metrica Province.
  18. The idea is great and I'll sure participate to what I was used few years ago on daily basis. Wile we're at this I'd like to ask: what are chance that in preparation of the World Boss Week some mobs of champion tier would be added into World Boss schedule and in some cases got proper events structure (pre-event, boss spawn, chain restart)? I'm thinking mostly about Dredge Commissar in Dredgehaunt Cliffs and Siegemaster Lormar in Plains of Ashford; the latter is the only starting zone without World Boss-type encounter. I believe that Lornar's Pass could use own World Boss as well since this map is quite large, events are scattered across long distances; perhaps something related to Marionette remains could revive a bit this place? There's also Fire Shaman aka Drakin Cinderspire in Iron Marches which at some point if I'm not mistaken was sharing spawning time with Fire Elemental in Metrica Prov.Edit: I just tossed this as a separated thread for better attention Then there are the Orr maps and Temple encounters which since introduction of Megaservers system are bit neglected - sometimes events are blocked for days and in order to for example, fulfill collection objectives, community advises to visit map around Tuesday patch releases, since that's the time events scripts are being restarted. The uniqueness and sense of accomplishment of these encounters practically doesn't exist because it's hard to find map where events structure isn't broken; maybe a separated schedule for the Orr maps could solve this issue and revive maps beyond farming Cypress Saplings?
  19. Regarding Daily Corpse Caravan Disruptor: these should be definitely cut down in power because it's both hard to get one down alone and get people to help you (mainly because of both loot and quartz farming). Comparing with all previous Season 3 daily objectives, none was so annoying as this one - even Draconis Mons Daily Destroyer Wyvern Boss becuase for that one there was always someone needing item for collection so people were around. So I suggest either making these easier to eliminate or completely replace it with "classic" objective - do X events in order to fill objective.
