  1. Game On! Trivia Night!! So it is official! I will be hosting a Virtual Trivia Night for the GW2 and Video Game knowledge tonight at 7pm MST! Complete with prizes such as gem cards and precursors!!! So for the details, there will be no fee for this event! If you are ready to register you can find the event at https://gameontrivianight.eventbrite.com (see details on feedback, etc for this site. You can also register using your in game alias). For now I have it limited to 20 people and we have some spots still open! Also 1 Team= 1 spot. However if you want to come last minute and it says there are no spots just drop me a message and let me know, I'll do my best to squeeze people in or add slots if needed! You can register as a Team or Individual! I am asking Teams be limited to 2-5 people and a Team Lead chosen. I will be hosting this event on a created discord dubbed the Mutt Mafia Hideout https://discord.gg/Xh8HDfw which I will be using for special events such as this. We will also be using a google form the day of for answer submissions to make it easier for tracking. I will also be streaming the event on Twitch and Facebook (both under SwankyMutt) as well for those that just want to check it out! Side note for those willing to offer feedback I will be extremely grateful. Especially registering through eventbrite. This trivia night is a bit of a test run for the platform for a few charity events I am looking to host in the next few months to raise money for the animal shelter I work for and possibly some other organizations! If there is enough of an interest for the GW2/Video Game night I’d be more than happy to host more in the future, too! If you have questions please feel free to ask! You can also hit me up on Discord as SwankyMutt#3150!
  2. I am one of two scribes in my guild. We are not a large guild and use guild catas quite frequently (we call them crack catas for a reason) so we can hit objectives fast. Which means I spend quite some time at the device making and queuing siege. I have to agree with some type of rework to the system. We already got the ability to get tactics out of a box, maybe bring back a modified version of resonance. My guildies would be more than happy to do something like this if it meant I didn't complain every time I had to make siege. XD
  3. "Why is Firebrand not that popular in WvW" - Because playing support for random pugs that "play however I want" is extremely frustrating, especially for new Firebrands that still think its there job to save everyone. ^ This. There's another post going on about paying commanders and it is literally the same issue. 'We don't have tags. Everyone is using private tags now. I want, I want I want.' Granted the 'We' is as a whole, not specific individuals before anyone gets super defensive. However, it is the same idea. Want to see more open tags, maybe the server should change how they look at those groups. Why should I bother having my group open tagged when we catch nothing but slack if we play differently? Maybe we don't want 15 rangers in the group and don't want to deal with people being salty over it? Or if we go to an objective that you don't agree with? Or we didn't respond to your call out for a camp while we were defending something different? Also considering the amount of match manipulation by servers as they tank or hold back so they don't fight certain servers, the huge gaps in coverage, paired server population, PPT vs PPK score percentages, etc. your server's tier isn't really something to flaunt as an end all be all. For instance SoS is dominating T2, yeah. They also have the highest population during OCX and SEA. BG is the only one close to that activity and let's be honest they have coverage at most times anyway. You have numbers and can afford to have a not entirely comp'd group and farm that score over night. There's nothing wrong with that, that's what people on that server enjoy. Take a different server like FA, they have one of the highest PPk% at 27% right now (NA that is, not sure on EU) . That's an entirely different playstyle. They focus on fighting/PPK and with potentially smaller numbers rely on their comp more. Still nothing wrong with that either, they enjoy fighting. However if they are gonna catch flak for their playstyle, have people hinder their fun well why not private/close tag/require comms? That is their choice, just as it is your choice to bring a character that doesn't offer anything to their group synergy/playstyle and not work together or support/encourage them.
  4. Donating siege itself to Commanders who open tag was a way to help them from spending their own (or their guild's) gold on those things. It was a pretty regular thing back in the day, siege then was pretty expensive and could rack up in price. Or if you forged it in the Mystic Forge it took foreveeeerrrrr. So people did this as a way to show appreciation for that individual open tagging. Granted, with the introduction of skirmish tickets and all that the cost to craft or buy siege has dropped dramatically. It's still not a bad thing to do, especially if you notice your commander throwing a ton of guild siege. You have a stack on each character? Send a stack of plebs to the Commander so they can turn around and make more guild siege. However, if you honestly want to encourage people to tag or drive then just be appreciative or helpful. I've seen an influx of posts complaining about commanders or private tags and the such. Want to change that, do these things: Don't be a jerk in Map/Team chat. Be supportive or offer CONSTRUCTIVE criticism privately to the tag. That's the quickest way to discourage a tag who is having an off night or even one who is just now learning. Get on Comms. and be willing to bring something helpful/useful to the group if you have that option. Ask the Commander what is needed. Yeah playing a condi troll druid is fun and completely stupid, but when I look to join a group or my guild forms up, I'm rolling onto something that's helpful. We want to have fun and working together is how we have fun because it can generally lead to a higher rate of success. Be willing to FOLLOW. Just because you don't recognize the name, maybe go check them out. All ways that the WvW community can try and support and encourage those that do want to pop a tag. It was touched on before about commanders and their 'core' group. My guild runs small generally and there have been times attempts were made to rally defenses. We would end up with a handful of comp'd toons on discord and the rest of our group was roamy characters some of which are doing their own thing. There is no way we would be successful against a group and we weren't. All things you can do to help a tag be more successful and the more successful they are the more likely they will open tag again that don't straight up require payments. This is honestly however a position the WvW community has put themselves into over time. We don't work well with one another (outside of our select circles) anymore. We are judgmental and harsh to new players or players who need help learning the game mode. We are entitled and want to play what we want how we want and nobody is making me get on comms. Then we complain about not having tags or not winning fights. I've watched entire guilds/servers groups stand by and watch T3 objectives be taken just to prove a point to the other server about how server x was nothing without their group. The rest of that pairing was toxic and nothing got done. Very few open tags were seen during that pairing. TLDR Want to encourage commanders? Don't be a jerk. Be supportive. Be helpful. Be constructive. Get on comms. Work together. If the group wins or has fun, the commander will be more willing in the future to do more. If the server is toxic or uncooperative no amount of gold will make the commander continue tagging for an extended amount of time.
  5. You can check out the link at the bottom of this post (if it hasn't been provided previously). It is off of Snow Crows page and links to Discords for different raid communities that help with training and organization. They also have regular groups for more experienced raiders as well. I have learned a lot from the NA group (I primarily WvW) with mentor sessions on different professions/roles. These are great places to start for players just starting to enter the Raid scene without having to dredge through LFG. https://snowcrows.com/raids/training/
  6. Generally our core is a bit active from 8:30pm MST to 12:00am MST depending on the day of the week. We work some strange hours, haha!
  7. Oooh! I have another one for you guys and gals! What do you get if you cross a grizzly bear and a harp?A bear-faced lyre. =)
  8. What do Polar Bears like to eat? Burrrr-gerrrs! Oh yeah, I'm that good! B)
  9. Aww why thank you Bryce <3 It's been a pleasure to have you with us. Also you can be honest, I am waaay nicer than Aimes :P
  10. Hey guys and gals, quick question... What do you call a BEAR that jumps but never lands?Peter Panda! Oh yeah, that's right. Also we still looking for more members to join in our random shenanigans!
  11. Hello. Is it me you're looking for? Sorry, couldn't help myself. Since you are here though maybe you should ask yourself the following things: Do you have an obsessive (possibly shameful) love of [bEAR] puns?Do you possibly have an unhealthy attraction to Porridge?Do you want to blame Aimes for all your misdeeds? (#blameaimes for life!)Do you enjoy stealing the fluffy creations of small children, bathing in their stuffing and feasting upon their button eyes (the fluffy creations that is, not the children. That would be just weird and awful)?Well then maybe Build a [bEAR] Bandits might just be a place to fill all those (oddly specific) desires! About [bEAR]: [bEAR] is a small group of friends who have banded together for the purpose of mayhem and chaos in WvW and now we dabble in the PvE with the Fraggles and such. As it is we have decided to expand our motley (and slightly eccentric) crew and grow our ranks! We primarily run late NA, taking joy in making our presence quite un[bEAR]able to our enemies. Specializing in small havoc and roaming we prefer to take things at a rather casual pace now and enjoy the game (silly people having real life commitments), though don't let that fool you. We will put the big boy (and girl) pants on and create a bit of chaos and mayhem, often causing a bit of PANDAmonium for our enemies (they are cute and adorable, give me that one). We do not have specific profession requirements at this time. However for those just beginning or looking to learn a bit more about a specific profession or tactic we do offer training, guidance and builds. Our members have a bit of experience and are more than willing to share it. Not to mention we are a bunch of nerds and quite enjoy theory crafting and testing to keep us a bit more competitive. Our primary WvW core is based now on BP, though again we do have a few from other servers amongst our ranks as we have started running guild groups for the Fraggles. WvW is where you will find us primarily most evenings though. Contacting Us: Have a few questions about our band of randoms?Have a pecan pie recipe you would like to share?A [bEAR] pun that you feel is just imPAWsible not to tell us (last one I promise!)?Feel free to contact Rei (SwankyMutt.9521) or Aimes (breakeryeti.9824) and we will be more than happy to help!
  12. Hey, everybody! So I've been watching a few 'Leveling Challenge' type videos (mostly ran through Warcraft) and thought wouldn't it be awesome to come up with a few and try them out in GW2? So a few of my guildies and I officially kicked off the very first Build a [bEAR] Bandit's leveling challenge, Yer a Wizard, Harry! a (you guessed it) Harry Potter themed challenge! This is a recap/highlights video of our random shenanigans! Want to participate? Check out the rules listed below and good luck!º Elementalist only. No Boosters, foods or mounts! º If you die you must delete and start over. Single down is okay, double is considered dying. º You can only use the armor in the slots you start with (Chest, Legs and Boots but NOT the Helmet unless you have the proper bonus) with the exception of your House perk. You can fill these slots ONLY with armor you find as a drop or as a quest/level reward. No vendors, mails from self/friends or Trading Post. You may use any weapons allowed by your class, however the same rules apply. Armor and Weapons can not be higher than Masterwork (Green) quality. º The only exception to the above rule is House bonus gear. You may purchase your accessory, amulet or helmet from a Heart Vendor. It can not be higher than the Masterwork (Green) quality. º You can use upgrades in your gear but ONLY upgrades you find as a drop or quest/level reward. º Pick Your House: Each House will have a bonus and you will want to wear your colors for your character. Hufflepuff: Yellow/Black. As a Hufflepuff you can equip one accessory.Slytherin: Green/Silver. As a Slytherin you can equip one amulet. Ravenclaw: Blue/Silver (or Bronze). As a Ravenclaw you can equip a helmet. Gryfindor: Red/Gold. As a Gryfindor you can equip a helmet. The goal is to be first partaking in the challenge to take back Claw Island. Once you accomplish this take a screen shot of your completed instance as well as a screenshot of your /age on that toon. The submission with the lowest time by the deadline (6/14/2020) will receive a prize! Want to catch it Live? Check us out below:https://twitch.tv/swankymutt
  13. If the Phalanx armor set would return to the gemstore that would be amaaazing <3
  14. I am absolutely in agreement with this. My scribe is currently the primary 'crafter of guild siege' and it is mind numbingly exhausting and frustrating when you are making stacks at a time. We go through it like candy (yes, we have a problem xD ) and at this point I generally have a time designated prior to reset to just sit there double clicking to add more to the queue. It sucks.
  15. A minor annoyance of mine is having to queue items via the Guild Hall (mostly siege for me personally) after crafting it, possibly either removing or tweaking the current system so a player can do more than 10 at a time. I spend so much time queuing up 50+ guild siege after I craft it for my guild and it just gets uggggghhhh.
  16. I'm nervous with a hint of excitement? Maybe more reserved excitement I think? Something needed to be done for the WvW scene and this is definitely something. I guess for me the biggest concern I have is more on the balance of the populations, more specifically where smaller guilds will wind up in the grand scheme amongst the larger Alliances. Our guild is very small and casualish, we end up in WvW every night and run some small scale havoc but we don't have set raid times. We start roaming, people log on, we group up and bam we have a guild run. Despite the lack of a schedule, we do take our WvW shenanigans semi serious. We just aren't keen on joining a huge guild/alliance that might compromise who we are just to make sure we stay seeing decent activity. We like and rather enjoy running together in our small group. It makes me nervous I guess on how much weight larger guilds will be able/willing to throw around when it comes to allowing people to join their Alliance (thought I am aware most of the ones I am worried about will form will end up imploding due to infighting/egos). Some of them can be quite nasty at times (one of the reasons we left our original server and created our own small guild and moved on) and I worry that those groups can create a monopoly on upper tier (for lack of better word) fighting. Will we have to deal with their behaviors to see decent action? How much competition are we going to face when trying to find an Alliance to avoid those ill behaved groups? Or will we be stuck in no mans land activity wise with groups that don't share our focus or stuck in a toxic world for eight weeks because we can't find an Alliance that has room for us? Will those adults ever board up that stupid well so Lassie has to keep telling them Timmy fell in it again? Will I ever find a pecan pie that rivals my Grandma's cause it just never seems to cut it when I bake it? I just don't want us to end up losing our identity as a guild (as small as it is) or find ourselves at the mercy of larger Alliances just to see good, solid action. As for server identity, I do feel for those that still holding to theirs and I can understand their points. I do. My loyalties however changed to my small group of friends after our original server saw an influx of toxic guilds because they wanted to be more 'competitive' in coverage. When Guild Leaders and Council Members are screaming at each other in meetings and Team Chat is filled with bickering because Mary doesn't like Bobby it kind of ruins it for you I think. That is what we want to avoid, I don't want to be grouped with those types of people again. Just I guess the idea of competing for spots with decent (not toxic) Alliances with our focus is daunting. This change does allow us to possibly hook back up with old friends (though they have all branched off into smaller guilds of their own and yes we have been talking with them a bit already :p ) and one thing I am most excited about. I am looking forward to that for sure. And the pie thing. Seriously, I need help with that. It might be our leg up into a decent Alliance. I mean I could fall back on the cookies. I can make some gnarly spiced rum cookies. I expect the first round of matchups to be chaotic, that's a given. Here though is me being hopeful that positive (and the ramblings of our concerns from 'hopped up on Mountain Dew' brain) can come from such a huge change and fingers crossed the balance is really looked at in depth. Just don't forget about us little guys when you are looking into it, I rather dislike getting lost. Seriously, spiced rum cookies. Just saying, they are pretty awesome.
