Molesworth.1684's Achievements

  1. I do find the story less immersive with these breaks to 'fill up the green bar'. I'm just as likely to think: oh no can't be bothered, I'll do it tomorrow' and log out, rather than being interested in what happens next.
  2. nvm, it was hidden at the bottom of a list of recipes I already had......didn't exactly jump out at me.
  3. I've completed the new obsidian armor crafting mastery line but the armor recipes are not showing in Lyhr's list of items for sale. Is this a bug or do I need to do something else to make them available to purchase?
  4. This isn't quite on topic, but I've done the new legendary mastery line and still can't see the obsidian armor recipes available for sale in Lyhr's list of items. Do you have to do something else first to unlock them?
  5. Yes, this happened to me this evening, only put to back of queue once, but several people in our squad had it happen repeatedly. This really needs fixing.
  6. Same here, since wvw is my main game mode, the next 3 weeks will be totally wrecked if it's not fixed.
  7. I do sympathise with OP's opinion. I've played GW2 continuously since the February after launch, and though not a hardcore player, I'm certainly a veteran. However, I think you have to look at things philosophically: first and foremost, GW2 needs to make a profit from sales of the game and gem store sales, otherwise it will cease to exist. New players must be more likely to buy gems with hard cash, since it's very difficult to progress in the game without getting yourself more bank slots, bag slots, etc etc, let alone being tempted by all the various skins. I certainly very rarely buy gems these days, since I'm well kitted out with the essentials. Also, it's always been true that stuff tends to get nerfed after its initial introduction. For example, I remember toiling in HoT to collect the mats to make Astralaria; later they added a lot more pods in Dragon Stand and increased the time you have after the meta ends to harvest them, among other modifications. I choose to regard the time I spent doing stuff that's been nerfed, as entertainment which I enjoyed at the time. I still find enjoyment in the game, although I agree too with another post that there's much more 'copy/paste' in the new content, and repetitive tasks (looking at you, rifts....)
  8. Firstly, this isn't a whinge, just my own impressions of the mechanics. I've done 5 public convergeances, 2 wins and 3 fails. The first boss was the knight, then 4 Sorrow in a row. So firstly, is this intentional? That the rng is weighted towards getting Sorrow? Because the other boss is a walk in the park in comparison. Secondly, after you pick up essences they seem to decay after a few seconds, certainly the bar vanishes. So if you pick up a lot of essences far from Zojja there's no chance of handing them in. Another thing: I noticed when Zojja's health is low and you hand in essences, she seems to use them for the resurrection spell rather than healing herself. No wonder she dies. Sorrow is a nightmare to fight, with all the knockbacks and being lifted into the air. And unless it's simply my eyes, it seems to be transparent so it's hard to even see which way it's facing, with all the visual noise. I don't need the essences and the rewards are pretty poor, so sadly it looks like yet another bit of content I'll abandon, unless it's adjusted. I am a patient person and don't particularly mind the repetitive killing of sub-bosses, but repeated fails after 20+ minutes' work is frustrating, when you are in an instance with 49 random people who may have low dps and survivability, and might even stand and slack.
  9. I'm a regular WvW player, in fact it's what keeps me playing the game. But since the wvw special event started, the queues on wvw borderlands have been insane, to the extent that it's been extremely difficult to raid with my guild (they only do public raids btw, I'm not talking of closed guild raids). Last night I missed the jump to our borderland at reset and had to queue nearly 2 hours to get through the queue into the map. It calls into question the justification for running this 'WvW Rush', and especially over relink week when there's bound to be some confusion between new linking partners as to which maps to go to on reset. My point is that running a special event on maps which have very limited space is questionable to say the least. If you do a 'rush' in pve or fractals, the game just creates enough maps to accommodate everyone. But in wvw this obviously isn't so. Obviously many pve players will take opportunity to get faster reward track completion during an event such as this. My second point is one which has been made repeatedly and has never been answered by Anet. Why force pve players who have no interest in wvw to play it in order to get their Gifts of Battle for legendaries? I have met many pve players who simply hate wvw and can't wait to finish their Gift and get back to playing what they want to play. When will Anet learn that forcing people to play content they don't enjoy DOES NOT make them grow to like that content?
  10. Totally the same here. And there must be thousands of us the same. The problem is, in the early days I used to try to do everything that Anet put in front of me, but now when there's a strike blocking progress, I just turn away. It loosens the hold the game has over you, that compulsion to do the achievements. One day the leash might break altogether.
  11. I really thought Anet had learned their lesson after EoD about trying to force the unwilling to do strikes, but lo and behold, they just have to do it again. I was really enjoying the new expansion too. Very disappointed in you, Anet.
  12. I'm loving the new expansion, but have hit my first point of frustration. Having done all the 'commune' mastery insights, I'm attempting to get more by completing the various areas' event chains. But in several areas, the last one or two events I need never seem to spawn. Sections of the event train start regularly, and I have completed these several times, waiting for the event I need to appear. But it doesn't. In HoT which had a similar system, eg in Verdant Brink, the event chain would start at the beginning and run reliably through to the end. Why doesn't this happen in SotO? Examples of the events I am talking about are:- Rata Novus/Primal Maguuma: 'Destroy Egg Nests' Droknar's Light: 'Pacify Belligerent Dwarves' Skyward Marches: Help the Astral Ward drive back the Forged, and 'Convince Zaishen Deserters..etc' Jade Mech Habitation: Defeat the Ministry of Transit Boss. Is this a design feature intended to frustrate/make us wait around endlessly for events to start? Or a bug? Or what?
  13. Yep, they're at it again. Forcing people to play unpopular parts of the game to get some basic prize (now it's the new cape; last time it was the turtle mount). I've never actually met anyone who enjoys pvp. Even those who play it regularly seem to spend their time complaining about it. And the toxicity is legendary. Another blow to my loyalty to GW2 (as a veteran of nearly 10 years' play with 4 active accounts).
  14. Firstly, I agree totally with the original poster's points. Especially that you should retain fishing stacks if you need to leave a map because it expires. Also point no. 3 - the way the RNG works is ludicrous at times. How can you catch up to 10 legendary fish without getting the exotic or ascended one you need? Also, the RNG sometimes gets 'stuck' on one particular fish, so you catch 5 or 6 of the same fish in a row (not usually a valuable one!). Having finally completed the Cod Among Minnows achievement I would also add one point. I started off finding fishing irritating, then gradually came to enjoy it. After finishing the final achievement there now seems no real point in continuing with it, except perhaps to make some gold by acquiring Ambergris to sell. It would be cool if a new set of achievements was added after you've finished Cod Among Minnows, to give you something to aim at.
